star, you mustn't worry about growth scan, I had a few with previous pregnancies. The sonographer was critical of the MW for sending me as they always showed an average size baby (even though I have never had a baby reach 7lb!) On the 1 occassion I should have had a growth scan I wasn't sent, I told them I felt that my bump had gone smaller, the most experienced MW told me not to be silly, I was 34 wks pregnant. David was born 10 days early, he only weighed 4lb 13oz and was in scbu for a week, I was told he was lucky to be alive as the placenta had stopped working properly, and that if he had been delivered on his due date, I wouldn't have had a live baby. I was so angry and upset at the time. I think it would be best if everyone had extra growth scans, to check on their baby's, just a shame the NHS don't do it. I would look at this as an opportunity to get another look at your lovely baby, and if they do find it a bit small when you have your scan, then at least they will monitor the baby's growth properly. I know I will be panicking in a few weeks (when I get to 34 wks) wishing that they would send me for a growth scan again just in case they get it wrong again xx

Emmsy1 · 20/08/2008 07:22

star wish my DH could actually go through child birth, he always makes comments like 'this has got to be as bad as child birth' when he gets a few twinges in his back!

WombFor1More · 20/08/2008 09:09

Morning ladies. Hope you're all well. I've just come for a moan really. Those in Sept keep having babies so I'm hiding here from now on. Seeing as I have about 6 and a half weeks left I can see me being Very of everyone who has their lo before me

I can't breath, sleep or move and I've had enough. I would love to just have oe night where I goto bed, fall asleep instantly then wake at 7am (or later ) without waking up a zillion times a night

Am 34 + 2 today and can't possible see me lasting another 6weeks. Ok so I'm just praying that I don't! 3weeks would be just right

Have mw tomorrow. Last time I went my bloods had come back positive for antibodies but inconclusive as to which ones so have to have a retest tomorrow, oh what fun

Also they never seem to know which way this bump is laying. I think he is head down but he defo has his back right against mine. Doesn't bode well for that all natural yet pain free birth I'm after lol!!

Am going to ask for scan refferal to check position and growth too as don't fancy another mini elephant

Anyway enough moaning from me. Will go try catching up on all your news now.

Gem x

jenwa · 20/08/2008 09:17

rowanmac glad you have finally got it sorted, poor you, must have been really uncomfortable. Hopefully the sickness will go away now too!

emky So jealous, how lovely was that to have a massage.

I need to go and buy stuff for my hosp bag, not really prepared yet

I am seeing MW next week (when I actually book appt, seen at 28 and 30 (30 should have been gp but no gp available!), then every 2 weeks until 36 when it goes to weekly. I am 31 weeks now and going next week for bloods (due to anemia) but also general check. It is obviously different in every area though.

Ohhh to those having babies in now and due sept!!!! I hope they have got their hosp bags packed........!!!!

bethoo · 20/08/2008 09:55

wombforonemore you only have 5 weeks and 5 days from today!

i am finding it exhausting walking to work. my bump is dropping i think, even though my maternity trousers are still falling down so everyoen gets to view my neon pink undies! having pain like stitch on the side.

have no idea when i will pack my bag, i already havea load of maternity bricks pads and disposable undies from last year! hard to believe i gave birth last year! glutton for punishment springs to mind!

want to lie down but really must mow the lawn when the rain eventually goes. cant find doggy mess when he goes to the loo... sorry TMI

WombFor1More · 20/08/2008 10:04

bethoo - that sounds even better but mine have been 6days later ds1, 6days late ds2 and 8 days late dd!!

Hope that just for once I can have on that's ready on time lol!

You sound like me too. Dd turned 1 at end of July so was only just over a year ago that I did all this. Never agan though. I have well and truly had enough now. 4 is most def my limit

Summer hols offically suck. Haven't been able to do much as I'm so tired from not sleeping and the rain hasn't helped. Hopefully the next week and a half will fly by. Even the kids are ready to go back

ds2 is just starting big school and is soooo excited. Wonder how long the novelty will last though! Only prob with them goig back is that I will have to have us all up and ready by 8.20am. I am typing this in my pj's so not sure how well I'll be doing by then!

bethoo · 20/08/2008 10:13

twinkly i have sent you an email with a beautiful story in it, hope you can access adobe as i think that is the format. had tears streaming down my eyes!

jenwa · 20/08/2008 11:09

bethoo i just been and picked up doggy poo too in long grass, not nice! Want to mow lawn too, well dont want to but need to!

bethoo · 20/08/2008 11:15

jenwa nothing harder than trying to remove poo from long blades of grass!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 20/08/2008 12:50

morning everyone...had anti-d injection today but they didn't do anything else, slightly disappointed cos I love hearing the heartbeat etc but never mind...thanks for reassurance on m/w appts from now on, not panicking any more!

star that is one weird pregnancy dream! wish DH could do the labour part, but I love being pregnant and though obviously it would be lovely for him to experience it, it's all mine!

ronshar · 20/08/2008 12:52

I am sooo tired. I have watery eyes because I cant keep them open. Why cant I sleep. Why is everything much harder this time???

Sorry I always feel sorry for myself when I dont get enough sleep.
Made the mistake of watching Charlottes Web with DD2 yesterday. We were both crying when Charlotte died! How do you explain to a 3year old that it is just a film and not really real. Especially when you have tears pouring down your face. I dont even like bloody spiders.

Star you are lucky I am trying think of reasons why I can have another scan. Dont worry. As long as you havent stopped growing and baby is still moving it should all be ok. Midwives do like to scare us, either by not being interested enough or by being over cautious. I quite like your idea of implanting baby into DH. That would give him some idea of what you are going through

bethoo · 20/08/2008 12:54

i cant watch Watership Down without sobbing! especially when one of them dies to the song Bright Eyes!

bethoo · 20/08/2008 13:17

this healthy eating is going to be a downfall! everytime i eat a salad i want to have a choccy bar! last night after my chicken salad i wanted a 200g Dairy Milk fruit and nut! luckily i only got a small bar! i have just eaten a prawn salad and am now contemplating popping ot the shop on the way to pick ds up!
someone help me!!!

ronshar · 20/08/2008 13:21

Go in and buy so much chocolate that it makes you sick! That should cure it.

bethoo · 20/08/2008 13:22

sadly it doesnt. i have one of those stomachs that can eat easily 3 choccy bars in under 5 minutes! i rarely ever buy one!

ronshar · 20/08/2008 13:37

Well you are just going to have to STAY AWAY FROM THE BARS. Be strong and buy cake instead. Even I can only eat half a cake in one go

bethoo · 20/08/2008 13:40

only do cakes if they are choccy and gooey! less spnge, more goo i say! layers and layers of butterscotch cream with choc goo and topped with lovely icing!

ronshar · 20/08/2008 14:20

Ah so it is the chocolate you are after more than the cake, I see. Well it is going to have to be pure will power I am afraid. I can no longer help you.

I have just be on the phone to the job centerplus people. What a bunch of crap. I sent off my maternity allowance application at beginning of the month and not heard anything. It turns out, after trying all day to get through, they are very busy and it could be another 5-6 weeks before it get processed. Bloody hell the baby could/will be here by then! Fingers crossed.
I thought the crappy labour party had employed everyone within the civil service to fiddle the unemployment figures. Obviously didnt employ them at job center! Although that figures. Ooooo makes me angry. Why do people work self-employed it is a royal PITA.

Sorry I shall stop moaning.

jenwa · 20/08/2008 14:46

I have eaten an entire bag of salt and vinegar crisps (huge bag) and now my lips are burning!!!

Mowed the lawnt and tidied up and been pn computer for an hour whilst DD playing. Have played playdoh with her today too. Need to pay some bills now...aghhhh!!!

ronshar · 20/08/2008 15:23

Mowed the lawn! Wow I had to stop that months ago. You are obviously much fitter than me.
We had the playdo out the other day. I really hate playdo. It gets every where. I manage to throw a little bit more away each time it comes out of the cupboard. That way DDs dont notice. They will when it is all gone mind you.

bethoo · 20/08/2008 16:40

i too have just mowed the lawn and luckily there were only 2 poos i mowed! the grass was easily 6 inches long so could not see them! hard to start the bloody thing as petrol mower with those pull the cord starter things!
managed to stay away from the shop though had one of ds mousse, for energy of course!
when i went to get maternty grnt forms they said unlikely i would get it! why does the government advertise it if only 20% sre entitled????

Hey everyone,
How do you get a MATB1 form? I meant to ask for it at my appointment tuesday. I'm going to the hospital for scan tomorrow afternooon - can I get it from them or do they have to send off for it? Or do I have to get it from the local surgery?
Sorry, my employer has asked for it and I need to give it to them this week... and don't have it yet...
