did not see dp today as really could not face him, he wanted me to go to his mums but after his behaviour when he was at mine and would not leave i really did not want to be trapped at his mums while he pressured me to get back with him.
saw mw and i am measuring in at 32cm fundal height and just turned 33 weeks today so ok.and talked about the labour, flipping heck it is getting close! anyway i may have a water birth this time at the hospital.
my will power is weak as day one of healthy eating i had a crunchie, though i think it is one of the lowest fat choccy bars out there!
it is a shame that snowymum s no longer with us til after the birth, no matter how many birth stories you read they will not be the same as yours as like every pregnancy, every labour is different.
mw said that my labour was unusually fast and will probably have this baby within 4minutes!
also have no GD this time round! am sure it was the litre and a half of full fat coke last time as not drinking it this time round!

Jambers99 · 19/08/2008 08:05

Morning everyone - sorry I haven't posted much recently but work has been ridiculously busy and by the time I get home, feed / bath / put DS to bed, then make dinner for me & DH, I can't be bothered to turn on the computer!

All well here - baby not moving that much, but a little every day so I think everything should be ok. Got a scan on Friday to see why I'm measuring big for my dates.

Have been reading all your news, hope you get things sorted with DP bethoo. I could contribute to the piles / discharge debate, but will resist! All of you planning trips to hen nights & weddings pre-birth, don't forget to take your notes with you, just in case....

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 19/08/2008 10:28

oh girls i feel so sick....this might be the end of chocolate croissants (about bloody time)...eurgh.....too much too early in the morning, yuck yuck yuck

bethoo good on you for being strong around DP, kick his arse into gear

question about appointments - are we supposed to be having them every two weeks now then? I had my last one at 29 weeks (which was I think my 28 week appt), midwife hsa booked me in for 36 weeks and told me to book in 34 weeks with GP (have shared care)...but that means I won't have been seen by anyone for 5 weeks...that can't be right surely? does everyone get a 32 week appt?

bethoo · 19/08/2008 11:18

GWTMS I think it varies from area to area as i had an app at 28 weeks then did not see mw til 33 weeks so that was 5 weeks between, now my next app is in 2 weeks so i think that when you get into the 30 week stage you see them every 2 weeks then when get to 38/39 weeks it is every week.

chocolate criossants sounds lovely! i ahve been nibbling on pine nuts as recommended earlier and i had marmite on toast for brekkie which i think has kept my iron levels normal this pregnancy. you either love ot or hate it!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 19/08/2008 11:56

wish I'd had marmite instead of chocolate croissants this morning...i LOVE marmite....

freaking out a bit here, but trying to stay calm. My good friend has tried to reassure me and feeling a bit better... but still anxious.

I'm 32 weeks as of sunday and went to mw appointment today and she said baby measures 29 weeks... which is "out of normal range" and set up an appointment for Thursday at hospital for a scan... and did another blood test (i've had low iron and silly advice all the way through about it... not from her) and she said she would give me the iron transfusion on thursday if it's still as low as it has been and cna't believe no one has offered it to me yet.
She was insistent that I have a scan this week but did her very best to convince me not to worry about it... but now I'm totally paranoid. I don't smoke (nor does anyone around me) I don't drink, I eat a very healthy diet don't drink caffeine, walk for 45 min to 1 hour every day... I don't know where I could have gone wrong.

star6 · 19/08/2008 13:29

maybe I haven't been drinking enough water. that's possible. I should drink more water. I just drank an entire bottle.

bethoo · 19/08/2008 13:33

star6 you are only 1cm out as you can be 2cm out either way, it is just a precaution you havinga scan and the good side is you get to see you lo earlier. there are many reasons why you may be measuring small ie baby lying sideways and it varies for each woman, depending on your size and shape. i really would not worry too much about it. i cna imagine how paraniod you must be feeling but the baby was ok for dates at the 20 weeks scan wasnt it? remember some babies are naturally smaller or bigger. fundal height is not 100% accurate. i always measure 1-2 cm smaller.

star6 · 19/08/2008 14:09

thanks bethoo!! I've been stuffing myself full of food and water this afternoon to try to get him to grow. I will stop now.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 19/08/2008 14:22

star6 don't panic - I go on another forum and there are about 10 of us due in october, so far 5 have had to go in for growth scans and all have come out perfectly normal (in fact one baby is now showing large for its EDD)

twinklytoes · 19/08/2008 17:09

star -don't panic, all will be ok.

very odd afternoon here. doorbell rang and stood there was a midwife saying she'd come to do my 5 day post birth check! well I had to laugh and said I've still got 8 weeks left. she then realised she'd read the house number wrong - she'd forgotten her glasses! lets hope she's not on delivery in october.

32wk apt with consultant tomorrow, have a growth scan too and fingers crossed the placenta has moved.

07mumstheword · 19/08/2008 18:15

twinklytoes There's a quick service for you

Star Don't worry as others have said I've always been told you can be 2cm either way. I'm measuring 2cms big

I had my consultant appoitnment today since being told I was glucose tolerant impaired so I had another scan which was unexpected. Baby seems to be growing ok but possibly on the large side. I'm having to self test glucose levels and go back on Thursday for further assessment.

There's been lots to catch up on again so sorry if I've missed anything important. Hope everyone's well.

star6 · 19/08/2008 18:18

Thanks so much for the reassurance! Feeling much better now but will feel even better after the scan on Thursday. I'm so glad that this seems to be so common... I've spent the afternoon just considering where I could have gone wrong. I try to hard to do everything I'm supposed to do for the baby. I just can't wait for him to arrive so I can see that he's thriving... feel so out of control with him on the inside and nothing I can do!! The midwife was SO wonderful and trying to reassure but the desperation of her trying to get a scan booked so soon really scared me.

Twinklytoes - lol at the midwife - that's so funny!!!

jenwa · 19/08/2008 18:58

star please try not to worry, I know its hard but I am sure its all ok. verything been fine up until now. They have to check to rule anything out. Just think on the positive side that at least you will get to see your baby again before he is born .

Ekka · 19/08/2008 19:44

star6 honestly this happens quite a lot - one of my friends from my ante-natal group with dd was told that she was measuring small for dates (and to be honest, she looked barely pregnant while all us other ladies were HUGE) and was sent for another scan, but then her baby was one of the largest in weight out of the group . Whereas the girl who had the biggest bump had a relatively small baby (still in the normal range, but she could not understand how he managed to create such a big bump!). Please don't worry about doing something 'wrong' - these babies are pretty tough, despite looking so little and weak and helpless when they are born!

V tired here, and dh just been to the dentists for some fillings, so he's not exactly on top form... But bless him he is giving dd a bath at the moment.

CSWS I think my baby is permanently breech at the moment - keep getting kicked in the bladder. Not exactly promising for the homebirth I'm hoping to have! Just keeping my fingers crossed it will turn soon. Am crawling around on hands and knees and doing all the stuff I can think of to persuade it to get into the right position!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/08/2008 20:12

GWTMH - 5 weeks without an appt sounds ok to me if yours is a straightforward pregnancy, but would expect them to be more frequent after that. Mine are only fortnightly because of the diabetes.

star - echo everyone else in saying please don't panic, and would also add that even in the remote case of their being a growth problem, it isn't normally caused by anything that the mother has done, but rather just 'one of those things'.

I think that the baby might have turned again .
Ekka - friend delivered a breech baby this morning in 3 hours (a little early and weighing in at 6lb 2oz, so not a whopper admittedly), so it can still happen naturally, even if not at home.

Just caught up with all the news, for once I'm not going to whinge. I saw a physio yesterday (after 4 week wait) and now have pelvic brace and crutches, limped into see physio walked out!! Cannot tell you what a relief, I was really beginning to wonder how on earth I was going to get through next weeks. DH was away all weekend watching motorsport and I was home alone with DS but physically couldn't cope and ended up bursting into tears all over my lovely MIL on sunday at her birthday tea.

Only 2 more working days, can't wait. I too have begun vomiting again, had it for about 3 weeks now it having gone at 18 weeks, mainly in morning and teatime, managing about 1 in 2 dinners at present.

As for appts last seen at 27+5 next seen 33 wks as second time round and supposedly low risk. Random glucose was 5.6 (upper limit of normal 5.5) so tried to have GTT but threw up lucozade! as need to eat first thing, by 9am appt beyond it completely. Its all gone quiet on that one now!

star6 I feel exhausted at thought of trying to get into London at 38 weeks pregnant mind you I never got that far, I got too anxious about being far from the hospital and stayed home, far to tired to go out. I wouldn't risk it. They'll understand when they finally catch up and have children themselves. As for people telling me how exhausted they are and how hard life is, I got my own back today pitching up at work on crutches, guilt trips all round! I work in the health service, its quite hard to moan at somebody who has clearly hobbled into work! although strangely enough I was in the least pain I've had for 6 weeks but I wasn't letting on.

star6 · 19/08/2008 21:29

Thanks everyone. I'm so relieved that it is such a common thing!!
dh is now telling me I don't eat enough... but I eat as much as I possibly can without getting sick! He took it back and felt badly when I got upset and told him he's basically blaming me if anything is wrong.
Poor husbands... they just can't do or say anything right during this 9...10 months

BlueJellie · 19/08/2008 22:03

hi ladies newbie to the October thread this is the first time Ive been able to find it! Am 33weeks exactly due the 8th! How soon is everyone packing their hospital bags? It's my first time not sure how soon to be prepared!

bethoo · 19/08/2008 22:20

welcome. i think you have to have your labour bag ready at 34 weeks.

emkay · 19/08/2008 23:21

Hello everyone

Just been away for a week in lovely (but rainy) Cornwall. Lots to catch up on!

Star my DD arrived at exactly 38 weeks despite everyone saying first babies are normally late - so now I am even turning down trips away after 36 weeks in case this happens again. Any arrival from 37 weeks is seen as 'full term', so I'd play it safe. Good luck making the decision

BlueJellie - I made the mistake of having all the stuff for my labour bag ready but not packed when I went into labour - I was so sure baby would be on time or late. I was calling out instructions for what to pack in between contractions and we ended up taking about three suitcases to the hospital! Definitely worth being prepared on this one, even if the EDD seems ages away.

Had a lovely pregnancy massage last night as a late birthday present from my DP. The woman came to my home and massaged through t-shirt and trackie bottoms while I lay on pillows and duvet on the floor. Absolutely wonderful!

Seeing midwife tomorrow so hope to get all clear on protein in urine too - someone else had that too. Must drink more!

star6 · 20/08/2008 06:32

woke up in a cold sweat after a dream last night that I went to the growth scan and they decided to remove the baby, in the uterus from me and put it inside of DH because he was obviously the better choice for carrying the baby the rest of the way. They just cut open, took out the entire womb and stuffed it into dh! Then scheduled him for a c section at exactly 40 weeks, since baby wouldn't be able to come out any other way.
