Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ronshar · 18/08/2008 10:40

33 weeks today. It feels like such a long time to go but I remember it just flies by and then I am late and it drags soooo slowly. Although if the downwards pressure I feel all the time is anything to go by it hopefully wont be long!

I remember my sil was pregnant the same time as me with DD2. You would have thought she was the only woman EVER to have a baby. It was really obvious whenever we were together, even her own mother had to tell her to pipe down. It was no different after the precious baby arrived.

Star, just like you may have had your baby by the end of September so a perfectly good excuse not to go to the Hen do. My DH is not at all protective normally but even he would draw the line at me going to London for a night out at 38 weeks. He obviously would be able to go to London for a night out. I personnally do not stray too far from home for the last 3 weeks. It is that big just in case.
Also could you imagine how embarrasing it would be to have your waters break in a London restaurant, or on the train on your own. I would be mortified. I was bad enough when they broke on my living room floor 10 mins before DD2 was born. I didnt want DH to see incase he thought I had wet myself.
It is amazing the things you worry about when you are trying to pass a melon out of your fanjo.

bethoo · 18/08/2008 11:14

i think that it should be called the Myleene Klass syndrome when ladies think they are the only lady ever to have been pregnant and therefore no one knows what they are going through as they are so unique!
see mw today and dp wants to see us, suggested we go to his mums as that is where he currently resdides but have decided against that as i will not be able to escape once i am in the house and he will rant and rave! the only thing is he is like a drama queen in that he likes to let everyone know he is cross with me and i tend to feel belittled in public when he is ranting. there is a time and a place and certainly not in the town centre!
my rant is now over!
started healthy eating today and bloody starving already and in the fridge is a salad which compromises of diced cucumber, tomato and onion > with sunflower seeds and drizzled with olive oil! doesnt it sound so appetising??

bigmouthstrikesagain · 18/08/2008 11:38

well Bethoo if you added feta cheese and olives and a bit of basalmic to that salad it would be lush - but as I have just eaten a slice of cake i am not in a position to lecture on healthy eating

It was carrot cake though yum.

My mum is coming over to stay today to help out with the kids for a week. I need to sort out the house and sort out stuff to sell at a carboot this or next weekend. We have a tonne of boy baby clothes to offload and a buggy or two that are no longer in use. We need to make room for the baby and accomodate the stuff we have bought for her

All I want to do of course is sit around I am tired but can't get to sleep at the moment.

A month or so I could not stay awake now I am an insomniac - roll on the next 8 weeks!

ronshar · 18/08/2008 11:57

Bethoo I shall gladly swop the Nutella on toast that I have just eaten for your salad. I love salads other people have prepared they always seem much better than anything I can make!
I think you need to have a plan worked out before you meet DP. Have a limit on the ammount of moaning you are willing to listen to before you very calmly pick up your bag and walk out/away, depending on where you are. Obviously make sure there is nothing for you to trip up on. Nothing ruins a good walk away like a fall on your face!
Try to work out how much crap you take from DS before you time out, naughty step, etc, whichever is your prefered method. Then apply it accordingly. If DP raises his voice make it clear to him you will not stay & listen. If he whines walk away.
If he wants to act like a toddler then treat him accordingly.

Most importantly keep in your mind that very soon you will have a new baby and a toddler to look after on your own. That is knackering enough. You do not need the emotional blackmail and tantrums from a grown man who has real issues with facing his responsibilities.
This is the time for you to focus upon yourself and what you have to do to bring a new life into the world. Something which I feel he doesnt consider to be as important as his own problems.

bethoo · 18/08/2008 12:22

tell me about it. i really cant be arsed to see him at all at the moment and i know the longer i leave it the less likely i will ever want to see him again!
the salad would have been nice but way way too much onion! i thought red onions were best for salad but they really are strong and burn my throat! so almost perfecting my salad! more tomatoes too. tomorrow it is with tuna i think then the day after it will be prawns. is feta ok to have during preg as i may get some when pop to town today.
only 2hrs 20 mins til see mw!
this preg is problem free meaning no aneamia nad looks like no diabetes so i can only presume that since it is too good to be true, labour is going to be hell!

bethoo · 18/08/2008 12:22

mind you ronsahr i could happily eat a nutela on toast, isnt it good for you apparantly?

bigmouthstrikesagain · 18/08/2008 12:27

Bethoo - I am in no position to give relationships advice - very poor at that I think you seem very strong and capable anyway so stay true to your instincts and you will be fine.

However I do know my onions - and too tone down the acidity of red onion then you should add lime juice (fresh if poss) as it is a perfect partner - scrummy. As far as I know pasturised feta is fine to eat (I have indulged during pg) - only need to worry about 'runny', ripe, mouldy and unpasturised cheeses (brie, stilton etc.).

ronshar · 18/08/2008 12:33

Chocolate is very good for you. No matter what form it takes. IMHO.

Bigmouth, you can come to my house whenever you like to make me lunch. No Feta though as not too keen.

Bethoo, I found with DD1, pregnancy lovely no problems, hellish labour. DD2 pregnancy even better, labour beautiful. No idea about this one as pregnancy been pretty rubbish but fingers crossed for the labour.

bethoo · 18/08/2008 12:45

ooooooooh thanks for the tip bigmouth i will get some limes today! sounds delicious. i am really motivated now since getting my nicer slicer to experiment with salad though i am fussy with veg and it seems i only ever put in cucumber, tomatoes and onions! surely there are other things? i dont like strange looking veg like marrow, aubergine and courgette!
yes i am alot strongerthan my last pregnancy as it was all new and felt completely alone but now i feel i can cope better, though i appreciate it is going to be bloody hard work trying to entertain a toddler and bf a newborn 24/7! will i ever be able to get out the bed let alone the house!
thats the good thing about having a first, you can live in your night clothes and stay in bed!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 18/08/2008 12:47

bethoo I am a bit of a salad queen - and feta has been my saviour throughout pregnancy - gov't website says it's fine...having just had a lovely salad of tomatoes, avocadoes, cucmber, smoked salmon, toasted pine nuts and quinoa I am desperate for a pret chocolate croissant....managed two days without them and not sure I can do anymore!

time seems to have slowed down...how come last week i was panicking that I only had 10 weeks to go and this week am bored and want the next 9 weeks to go super quick?

bethoo · 18/08/2008 12:51

ooh now that does sound nice! keep them coming all you saladettes

snowymum · 18/08/2008 13:01

Helloo! Not really sure why I'm posting this as who cares, but I thought I'd just mention that I'm not going to come on mumsnet again until after the birth. Not because of this lovely thread, of course, but because once I'm here I can't help clicking on the birth threads in all their gory glory and I have to say reading what can happen when birth goes wrong is totally doing my head in, as a first timer. I think I'd rather not know, and I definitely don't think it's doing anything for my calmness!

So forgive me for going very quiet for the next few weeks - have the most wonderful third trimesters and possibly births! and I'll see you in a few weeks with a birth story that I hope is all calm and is about my home water birth! My due date is Oct 2nd so unless I'm really late I might be back sooner than I think...

And massive thanks for all your help and assurance so far - as I say, it's only because I have no self control and can't help clicking on the childbirth threads. Hopefully I can be a bit more contributy with a new born! xx

07mumstheword · 18/08/2008 13:17

Snowymum Good luck you will be fine.

GWTMH Your salad sounds delicious I might give that one a try very soon.

Hello to everyone else, we had a Trojan horse on our laptap last Thursday so been offline whilst repaired. There's been loads to catch up on.

I went to bed last night and fell asleep feeling fine but woke at about 12 feeling sick, within half an hour I had been violently sick but within another half an hour I was back to sleep. Has anyone else experienced sickness late on in PG? Could it just be that I over ate at tea time?

I have consultants appointment tomorrow to discuss my GTT "impaired status" so I suppose I could ask there.

I'm so short of breath aswell, it feels as if baby is sitting on my chest

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 18/08/2008 13:58

good luck snowymum, i know exactly what you mean about that childbirth section...eeeeeek!

mumstheword i hate that breathiness, i get it normally a few times a day, think baby must be bouncing on my diaphragm

ok, another gorge salad for you girls....broccoli, peas, cucumber, avocado, quinoa and feta witha coriander dressing....I always add either potatoes, quinoa or couscous to salads cos the carbs fill me up a bit more than just veg - also I'm not a fan of lettuce so tend to make salads without the rabbit food....nuts also good and filling, and seeds...hmmmm

well well easy but my favourite "comfort food" salad is couscous, tuna, spring onion, sweetcorn, olives, feta and tons of pesto

god I'm bored today...and my baby has hardly moved at all!

ronshar · 18/08/2008 14:02

Snowymum. We do care. That is why we all spend so much time on here.

Please remember all births are a very personal time. One persons bad story may be the next persons dream birth. As a first timer it is to be expected that you are nervous, excited, scared, terrified.
As a third timer I am also all of the above. It doesnt get any easier.
Knowledge is not always a good thing is it?

Please dont disappear from MN. We will miss you too much. Good luck to you and DH. May you soon have a beautiful baby in your arms who has come into the world via soft music and a birth pool in the lounge

I sat through 4 1/2 hours of meetings today!! I deserve a special prize! The chair was hard, plastic and uncomfortable and LOW (as I teach in a primary school), the room was SO HOT, I thought I might pass out (really!!) at one point... I can barely breathe... I'm asthmatic but this feels different.
Anyway, good news is... it's OVER. Tomorrow we have all to ourselves to get our classrooms...etc. ready! Thank goodness. And I have my 32 week check with the mw at 10 - I rang today to find out the exact time (I knew it was arounf 9 or 9.30...) and the receptionist couldn't find my name ANYWHERE!! She said there was no appointment scheduled for me at all this week, next week or the week previous, but she could "slot me in at 10.10". How does a patient just "disappear" off of the appointment records??

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/08/2008 20:24

Evening all.
Shocking day here, culminating in me sprinting for my half full shopping trolley down a hill in Tesco's car park, desperately trying to stop it from hitting a person or car (it had gone 30 yds before I realised). Amazingly I managed to catch it, but doing so hurt me lots, and my groin hasn't recovered yet. Was probably just the push that SPD needed to kick in this time round.

Other great news is that baby is breech again. I thought he had turned a couple of days ago, and midwife confirmed this today. Not good at nearly 34 weeks.

Snowymum - I wish you'd stick around and exercise some will power, but we can welcome you back like the prodigal son if you prefer. Best of luck if we don't 'speak' again before the birth, and remember that a positive mental attitude goes a long way to easing labour .

mtw - I know someone who only started getting morning sickness around 28 weeks, but it could easily just be a bug or overeating as you suggest.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/08/2008 20:26

Oh star - my appointment had disappeared today as well. Hospital got a new system in a few weeks ago, and has been complete chaos ever since. I apparently have an appt that I have never made on 22nd Sept though!

OP posts:
star6 · 18/08/2008 20:47

where are you cantsleepwontsleep? I'm in kingston/surbiton. Is the system nationwide? Maybe it's a technical glitch. I still think it's really barbaric that nothign is in a computer and all of our records are on a paper hand-written file that we are supposed to keep track of... I find this hilarious that they have trusted me with something so important. As ocd as I am about cleaning and tidyness... I lose EVERYTHING and anything. I'm surprised the notes haven't gone "missing" yet!

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/08/2008 21:03

North Herts here. I have a feeling that the system is supposed to be helping different hospitals to link up, so it may be that we have both suffered at the hands of the same one!

OP posts:
star6 · 18/08/2008 21:12

Ok, maybe I shouldn't have been so hard on the poor receptionist, then!! I was just feeling sorry for myself that I had been erased... but good to know it's happened to someone else, too
Good thing they could fit me in... although, it's probably someone else's time, who will show up, unknowing and not have an appointment

SmudgeyDoodle · 18/08/2008 21:27

Hope they find you again CSWS and star. At least if you've got handheld notes, they can't deny that you've actually registered!
Bethoo I hope you sorted things out with not so DP. Did you stay strong? If you left things up to him to organise, would it just not happen? Wondering if he thinks the responsibility is with you to sort out access. DS been very cute today. We had 2 little friends over this afternoon and although 3 18month olds in the same room got quite loud at times, they did do really well. They mostly took it in turns to have tantrums
I am going to a hen do 5 weeks before due and the wedding is 4 weeks before due. The hen do is a day at a spa followed by a meal so I decided to go. It's about 100 miles from home though but is where we used to live so not like I don't know the area or lots of people. DH and DS are going to drop me off on the way to visit other people. I think the worry of being shoved around if we go on to a pub/club is there for me but I also think that I'll just be really bolshy and created a space around myself.
Hope your day has been better CSWS - no accidents and some hot water. Anyone else worried that it's almost cold enough to want the heating on already?

Emmsy1 · 18/08/2008 21:31

hello girls, had my MW appt today (I wasn't erased!)baby cephalic and meassured 29wks was told that's spot on for my 31wks+4 (really confusing for me though) MW found some protein in my wee +2(or2+?) so she has sent my sample off to be tested. my BP was 105/68 so thats still fine. I have started to feel a little itchy tonight(down below)think I am getting a mild case of thrush, so hope that the protein is because of that, they said they will contact me if they have to. Otherwise all is well and next appt will be 9th Sep (34wks+4)
Hope all is well with you ladies?

Emmsy1 · 18/08/2008 21:36

Forgot to mention, I asked the MW if I could possibly go for a homebirth this time. She said although she was 'pro' Homebirth she thought it was best that I didn't because I need 2 injections within 4 hours when labour starts because of strep B or baby will have to be put on a drip and fed anti-biotics when born, so that's that dilema sorted for me!
