myjobismum- no she could def see the bump! She has just never been pregnant and is not married and just not "aware" at all of the world of pregnancy... all she knows is that soon I'll have a little baby, who will prevent me from going out on a moment's notice

oh, your poor ds! I hope you got rid of that awful snake!!

Bethoo - isn't your ds's name hayden? Sorry if not spelled properly, but I think that's so cute!

bethoo · 16/08/2008 21:13

thanks myjobismum i must admit i thought that particular thread was a bit ott on bitchiness! or could just be me being hypersensitive!
i am 33 weeks on monday so a day behind you! have mw app on monday also.
then meeting the ex as he wants to talk about when he can see Hayden.
little lady a right little wriggler too!

Ok, so a friend is having her Hen night at end of September in central london (Im in surrey). I'm co-organizing the event (at her request), however at that date, I'll be 38 weeks and just don't want to be so far from my local hospital... is that being too paranoid? I just don't want to risk waters breaking at the party, not getting to hospital in time enough to get the epidural or being a train ride away from DH when I could go into labour at any time...
I also don't think I'm really going to be "up" for a Hen Night at that time? But I've never been pg before, so have no idea... anyone else gone out at 38 weeks and thought it was fine?

bethoo · 16/08/2008 21:37

you will be too exhausted to go anyway and feel out of place surrounded by drunk women! i turned down one that was in july as felt like i would be out of place. if she is a true friend she will understand. i am going to a hen night too next month but luckily it is just a meal and the bride to be is also pregnant! but i am invited to the wedding reception on the 4 oct whic his 2 days before my due date! aaarggghhh

what are the other reasons myjobismum? Sorry, I NEED them to say to my friend... she's never been pregnant (like most of my friends) and doesn't understand at all!

DH is very uncomfortable with the idea. It's not a big boozer or anything there is a meal... but probably after some drinking (which I dont do while pregnant at all).

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 16/08/2008 22:34

would you be able to ask her if it's ok for you to decide on the day star6? then if you do feel up to it you can still join them for the meal...none of my friends have been pregnant either but seem to understand pretty well that sometimes I just don't have the energy to go out

Having said that I'm planning to go to SIL's wedding in coventry 3 days before EDD (I'm in London) unless literally in labour....

star6 · 17/08/2008 07:14

thanks myjobismum - glad you said that, I had not even thought about the crowded noisy situation and about others drinking heavily and their actions... and the travel alone. That makes a lot of sense.

gwmh - thanks! You're lucky that your friends understand. Hopefully your little one holds off until EDD or after so you can enjoy the wedding

jenwa · 17/08/2008 16:22

star I think you are fully justified saying that you will see how you feel nearer the time as it is a distance and the environment is not going ot be best for you or baby and the travellig alone like myjob stated. I think you will be tired but you may also worry too much about it and that can stress you out. You would not want to go out carrying your maternity notes and your hospital bag just in case in such a busy place

bethoo Yes ignore those threads, you have a lovely name for your son and some times people can be quite offensive. If we all liked the same name all the the children would be called the same and that would be a pain! Ignore it

I am shattered today. My sis been back this weekend and been to town and meal out and out today and going out to sis in law tonight for take away. My backside feels like it may fall out!!! Everything trobbing and I am tired. Just lost my rag with DD as she wet my bed watcing telly. It made me really angry as knew it was pure lazyness but now feel quilty . Bless her though, she said later that she was sorry for wdoing a wee wee on my bed and it was an accident.(in such a cute voive!)

jenwa · 17/08/2008 17:27

Oh I also wanted to add that I went to Dorothy Perkins today and tried on a pair of jeans that were in the sale section but had no price tag on them. I tried them on and they fitted lovely but something seemed weird. They were really creased and had a nappy bag in the pocket! I took them to the til and they were re sale jeans and she told me they were £20!!!! I was not imressed as surely they should not be sold for that!!!! Gutted as wanted a pair of jeans but not prepared to pay much for another 9 weeks! Anyway, rant over.

star6 · 17/08/2008 17:29

ewwwww
is a nappy bag what you put dirty nappies in, jenwa?
Did you ask her to lower the price?

twinklytoes · 17/08/2008 21:16

been a nice weekend here. have had a "day off" from mummy duties today - DH has been very busy, done the housework and cooked a huge roast dinner. unfortunately, didn't manage to eat much of it - must be my expanding bump.

have been buying loads on ebay today, done really well - bought 4 seperate boy bundles at less than 99p per bundle and a lovely swaddling blanket.

bethoo · 17/08/2008 21:21

must start doing my pelvic floor excercises as everytiume i sneeze i am leaking! omg!

bump is having a growth spurt i swear i am massive! and she is such a mover!

jenwa · 17/08/2008 21:23

star yes, have to say there was nothing in it but still its still minging. I use them also to pick up dog poo when I take my dog out (and so do other people) so thinking that these jeans had prob done some walking especially as they had been washed!!!! I asked what they would do and she offered 10% discount !!! I would have paid £5 but no more for them. I have nothing against 2nd hand clothes but not when buying from a clothes store and at that price. My mum had a bit of a rant at them about them not being able to re sell them but they will prob put them back on the shelf for someone else to buy!

twinklytoes sounds like you have had a lovely day. What a lovey DH (not at all jealous)!!!!!!

Right, off to have a soak now.

jenwa · 17/08/2008 21:28

bethoo Mine is a mover too. Can it be 2nd baby syndrome or something???!!!! She keeps moving and turning. I had a arm in my groin a bum sticking up from my belly button and a foot in my side all at the same time, how weird did that feel. She wriggles loads and I can see what is popping up at times. Just off to have a bath so no doubt she will start somersaulting .
And I am massive too!!!!! I did weigh myself yest and have put on just over a stone, was 9 1/4 at my 16wk check and am now just between 10 1/4 and 10 1/2 stone. Put on about 2 1/4 with DD1. Sure its going to get much bigger though. (not helping by my sweet and chocolate eating though )

star6 · 18/08/2008 06:52

Jenwa - 10%?? That's unbelievable. You should have your mum go back tomorrow, see if they are back on the shelf and slip the nappy bag back inside the pocket so the next person isn't fooled

I have my 32 week check tomorrow morning. Do you know if they take a blood sample at this one? DH is off work and would like to go, but needs to be warned in advance about possible needles... he really struggles at the dr and hospital - but once he hears baby's heartbeat or sees it on the ultrasound, he's been more relaxed. I have NO IDEA how he's going to handle the birth!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/08/2008 08:11

If you had bloods done at 28 weeks star, then no standard reason why they'd do them again at 32, but obv if your iron levels need checking again then they might do them for that I suppose.

Hi girls, have been away for 2 weeks, have tried to catch up as much as possible, but eyes very blurred now!
I have a MW appt today at 2pm (31 wks+4) not worried at all as baby has been very active. I have not had any more bad dizzy spells since before my holidays, so hoping all is well. Weight has been the same for approx 8 weeks? I was 9 1/2 stone when I started and am approx 11 stone now. I don't usually put much weight on from this stage, so hoping that baby is the right size now, as have had a previous baby born at full term only weighing 4lb 13 oz and he had to go into scbu for a week. Holiday was fab, only north wales but it was great to get away. I have had some terrible groin pains at times, they come and go, sometimes they go completely and other times I can barely move, very strange as I have never experienced this with previous pregnancies csws sorry building work not going to plan.
bethoo get rid of that rubbish, you are strong enough to cope on your own.
07MTW I too am getting loads of discharge down below, nothing to worry about though, as long as it's not discoloured or smelly (which indicates an infection)
pistachio really of your DH mine is a lazy git, doesn't do a lot with the house or the chilren, when he's home from work he just likes to sit in front of the computer, with his headphones on and download his music. He will have to pull his weight more next june when my official career break comes to an end. I did get him to do the dishes once while we were on holiday so suppose I should be grateful have to ask him for help, he never offers, end up doing it my self as don't like to have to ask, even do the DIY myself (even though it ends up rubbish!)
sambrads Hellooooo, how are you my lovely?
star remember to keep mentioning EPIDURAL every time you see a midwife, write it in big bold red letters across your hospital notes!! I am sure you will get one if you keep piping on about it, don't leave it until the late stages of labour or they will tell you it's too late or the anethietist is in theatre!
Hello to every one else, especially the new ladies who have recently joined us. Can't wait to see who's first to have their baby
