yes men do tend to let themselves go once married! now they have you they can show their real colours !!! nto a cynic!!!
star it is called nesting and i am at that stage, going through cupboards/drawers throwing stuff away, i am such a hoarder! i keep thinking that maybe one day i will use this....

star6 · 13/08/2008 12:52

"nesting" I like that term. Dh and I are both minimalists and can't stand clutter, which backfires, because you get rid of something then sometimes (only on occasion, though) you think... oh, I wish I hadn't gotten rid of that!

SmudgeyDoodle · 13/08/2008 13:00

Hi girls, I wish I had a bit of nesting going on as our house is full of crap and there's still nowhere to put a baby but I can't be bothered to do anything about it. I think it's because I keep sorting out my stuff but DH doesn't do his and then I get fed up. I've still got 10 weeks but after my panic that I was in labour over the weekend, I've been out and bought some newborn nappies, some breast pads and some maternity pads. At least we shouldn't leak everywhere even if nothing else is organised!!!! DS been realllly whingey recently but seems to have snapped out of it from yesterday afternoon (fingers crossed). I think it's hard when you just want some space and they 'need' to sit on your knee. I was thinking yesterday that I will buy a little diary/journal to make notes as and when LOs say and do things. I've got a baby book for DS which I have filled in quite well but I haven't written in the cute things he does. I thought if I start it when this one is born then it's different and hopefully LO won't have that second child feeling where nothing gets marked or noticed because you just don't have time. Does anyone know when you are meant to have fortnightly MW appointments? I've got my apppointments booked til 36 weeks and they are only every 3 weeks. Not bothered really as things seem fine and it's a pain draggin DS to the GPs.
This has turned into a bit of an essay but just want to say that I'm getting full quite quickly now and been craving healthy salads and things. Long may it last!!

bethoo · 13/08/2008 13:08

i bought a nicer slicer thing so just waiting to get to the shops to get some veggies to put in it! that was my exciting buy this weekend as well as some yummy clothes i just hope i can fit back into! the size 8 skirt was a bit optimistic me thinks!!

Well the men problem, I dont think they will ever be domesticated!!!I hurt myself yesterday after mowing the lawn as DH had not done it (actually he has not done it for afew months) I also hoovered, washed floors and other housework stuff, He is better with putting his things away but I used to put post it notes on things when he left them out I put a note on the bed saying "I do not like wet towels lying on me!", and things like that. I put the ironing board in his side of the bed and said he loved it so much and could not bear putting it away he could sleep with it!! It was funny to see his face when he tried to get int to bed and he could not as it was in there!!!

Just come back from MW, all ok got to get bloods done next time as iron low and dropped quite a bit since booking appt. I feel ok ish though.

What a miserable day, at least I am resting abit more today.

star6 · 13/08/2008 14:38

Jenwa - I LOVE the post it note idea! I'm totally starting that up as soon as I get home. lol about the ironing board!

My iron is very low too... but went up from before.. it's not around hb of 8. They refuse to entertain the idea of the iron injection... even though nothing else works.

I've started work again after my very lengthy summer holiday. The students all come back next Thursday. I can't wait to meet them, but these days are going to be loooooong.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 13/08/2008 15:01

am sooooooooo full after lunch, but still managed to ram a pret pecan bar down my throat, thank god for managing to avoid heartburn so far but my back is killing cos I think my stomach has been squished up against my spine

thanks for reassurance about baby movements...felt a few wriggles but think poor baby must also be squished by my enormous jacket potato, let alone not having much room in the 1st place...

DH used to be good at doing things when asked, which was good enough for me (have come to the conclusion he will never see things and do them) but that has slipped recently so I've taken to piling his dirty washing he leaves around the house on top of his laptop and/or playstation til he puts it in the laundry basket

got my 21year old brother staying too at the mo so am living in a serious shithole!!

star6 · 13/08/2008 15:15

You all have GREAT ideas!!! Thanks GWMH!!!! I'm going to combine yours with Jenwa's for added effect... tomorrow morning I'll pile his dirty laundry on his laptop with a post it note with very clear directions to the laundry basket. This will be so much more fun!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/08/2008 15:33

I am reading in bits ladies, but struggling to remember much by the time I get to the end.

Can I just laugh at star and her being a minimalist though. We'll ask you how that's going in a year's time .

Getting lots of rest whilst visiting my parents, but groin is really starting to hurt, esp in the night, now. Hoping it's not the onset of SPD again, as this is how it started last time iirc.

Got dd and mum to bake some low GI choc brownies this morning. They contain red kidney beans of all things! They are yummy though, for someone who doesn't get treats like this of late (made with splenda rather than sugar obv).

Dh also terminally messy, but since we're only going to have half a house for a while when we get back home I don't think we'll be able to do much about it until after baby arrives.

jenwa · 13/08/2008 17:22

star It is fun sticking post its everywhere and actually it is better than moaning as they also se the funny side (hopefully) rather than a huge row! have you gone back to work this week or next week? Thats quick, I thought everyone went back in sept??? What do you teach?

CSWS is it your loft your having done? Is someone doing it for you? DH is still attempting to get ours done although I am not holding out much hope!

jenwa · 13/08/2008 17:25

I meant to say aswell that how come when men get down to the nitty gritty they have no problem finding that and putting there tool in it yet they cant seem to be able to put anything else in the right place!!!

star6 · 13/08/2008 17:25

I teach at a private international school. We broke up for summer on June 20th (around there) and we returned today for meetings/planning...etc. and the kiddos return next week on Thursday. I teach 1st grade (american system - so that's year 2 in british terms... so 5-7 year olds).

jenwa · 13/08/2008 17:29

Oh so you have had afew weeks off then. Private schools usually are slightly different are'nt they?
Do any kids board then? How come its an american system then? Is it because its international and more recognised? Is it much different to british? Sorry, lots of questions there!!!!

Bet you will not be pleased if our summer starts next week!!!! We have had a real naff one again!

snowymum · 13/08/2008 17:33

You're right, myjob, the dates are getting so close! Is anyone else getting really nervous, like about everything? So - nervous about the birth, about whether I;ve given enough thought to thinking about the first 6 weeks, have I read enough books, have i bonded enough and sung to him indoors enough, nervous about the midwife and DH seeing my DIGUSTINGLY fat thighs in daylight if it's daytime, nervous about whether breastfeeding will go ok, whether i can keep the business ticking over, oh god everything!

I am, basically, one big bag of nerves. Anyone else? This is the start of the neverending worry of being a parent, isn't it?

Jenwa - loft conversion plus changing conservatory (which was a cross between breakfast room and full on cons) to breakfast room with solid roof with velux windows and cafe style doors, putting big cafe style doors on back of living room, changing shape slightly and resurfacing entire drive, including putting lighting in it, new patio, refencing round front of house together with new electric gates, plus a handful of other tiddly jobs.
Just a minor job really .
Fully expect entire back of house to be boarded up when I get home, and we won't have use of conservatory for another 5 or 6 weeks at least, which means we can't use dining room either, as all cons furniture is in there.

snowymum - pre-birth is the easy bit , but the good news is that the shops are still open after you've had the baby, so if you've forgotten anything you can send someone out for it.

OP posts:
jenwa · 13/08/2008 17:52

CSWS I now have an image of you living in a hige statley home with those electric gates and fencing....so jealous. Your house will be fab once all that done, sounds great. Kaos though I imagine!

star6 · 13/08/2008 18:48

jenwa - it's an american system because used to be an american school... is now an international school, but we still use a lot of american curriculum, have a lot of american kids, teachers...etc. I'm from the US but we've been gone for 5 years now and we're the most UNpatriotic americans around... so don't think poorly of me, please

It's a lovely place to work, though - despite horrid maternity leave...

I feel like I've had A LOT of time off, and it has been wonderful... but not ready to be back at work now at all.

Just catching up. Pelvis is really sore. Mainly self inflicted threw a party for 60 (yes it did get out of hand slightly ) for DHs 40th birthday and all the standing has caused lots of pain, got that settled down went for a walk with Ds who wanted to run so thought sod it and ran with him and now can hardly walk.

Had to work late last night 12 hour day, spent 2 hours collapsed on sofa when got home watching sports I'd never heard of at the Olympics. Resulted in a very odd dream about one of the swimmers where I had to retrain as a physio because I thought he might think the uniform attractive. I think I've been wearing the same clothes for too long already and my subconscious is trying to tell me something!

Otherwise onwards and upwards, 5 more days to work, nearly passed out yesterday am so workload has been significantly shifted about so I'm hopeful I'll survive until next week now.

DH being quite helpful at present although he's usually pretty good, pathologically incapable of shutting cupboard doors though so I always know where he's been, not a major moan unless I walk into one.Not very modest about helping out though, typical quote 'I looked in the mirror this and thought I can see why you married me' delivered dead pan.

ronshar · 13/08/2008 20:48

Finally caught up with all the news. It has been a busy couple of days on here. I guess we are all getting a bit tense as we get closer to our babies arriving.
Who will be first? CSWS do we have anyone booked for early C-section? Maybe it will be Assessorise with the twins!
I am really excited about everyone else giving birth, not so much myself!

I shall try the raspberry leaf capsules this time. I am too impatient this time to go 15 days overdue.

Is anyone else having trouble sleeping again? I got into a lovely routine of going to bed early and sleeping great, until recently when it has gone to pieces. Up 2-3 times every night. Rubbish.

Bethoo. Kick his arse out the door back to his mother. See a solicitor and get him to contribute to his children. He cant have the great sex without some kind of responsibility for the result. Sorry not very tolerant of men who dont step up to the mark.

star6 · 13/08/2008 20:58

I just wrote myself a reminder note to put dh's laundry on his laptop with a post-it!! I'm so forgetful lately - and this is a very important task for before leaving for work tomorrow!

I way overdid it with lifting...etc in getting my classroom organized today. Feeling the pain now.
The GP told me at last appt that I should be resting for a certain number of hours per day in addition to sleep... what happens if you go for like a week without doing exactly that? Will they know? Does the baby go into a different position or something? I'll go back to sitting more in a few days. There are just things that need to get done!
I ask because I have an appt with the MW on Tuesday for 32 week check.

Do they do any more scans now?

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/08/2008 21:05

Good point ronshar - I don't think we have any planned c-sections as yet. Ooh, yes we do actually (beaufies), but not until later in the month. I think accessorize has to be favourite to be first doesn't she.

Jenwa - at your image of our house. It sounds much grander than it is. Gates are only 3 ft high, and it's only a semi, albeit a good sized one.

I suppose I should sort out some RL tea/capsules, given that I have to get him out on time to avoid induction. Will add to the list of things that I haven't organised!

Sleeping a bit mixed here. Getting to stay in bed much later whilst I'm staying with my parents, but can be awake for an hour or two after having a wee in the night.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 13/08/2008 21:07

The baby grows a second head if you don't rest star, so everyone will know that you didn't follow doctor's orders .

No more scans unless you have specific reason (suspected growth problems, low lying placenta etc).
