mornin all!

everyones very chatty i love mn get lots of usefull info on here from you lovely ladies..

bethoo have you thought about buying one of this or this instead of a double buggy. ive noticed your little one is about the same age as mine. DS1 will be 19months when this one is born. although ive bought a new single buggy ill be getting one of these as i dont think ill be able to cope with a double buggy.. getting on the bus, tube and going into shops will be too hard.

does anyone else get this weird, annoying and unconfortable thing abit like popping in your stomach especially in the mid of night when trying to sleep, i think i was told last time its baby having hiccups??

star6 · 08/08/2008 12:03

yes!! Yummum22! But I think the hiccups are the harder ones, more jerky popping movements. I get a more gentle more rhythmic popping sometimes... I thought maybe it was wind

morning everyone - all bump and baby pics are gorgoues, so weird to think of posting picture up eventually of my real life baby! have started to freak out about that too recently...

baby is a right little wriggler in the last week, feels like s/he's run a bit out of room - got 28/29 midwife appt this afternoon so see what she says - hoping to put wheels in motion for organising home birth

off to scotland for the weekend for our anniversary - it's apparently going to piss it down so will be packing some cards so we actually have something to do!!

have a lovely weekend all

star6 · 08/08/2008 14:40

blah... having a really hormonal day today.
I feel like I can't get anything clean enough
feeling really unattractive
and fat
and like this is all coming way too soon.
I want to cry... I know... ridiculous!!!
and dh is grumpy and painting/doing diy...etc... he doesn't get to be grumpy while I'm pg, right??

ronshar · 08/08/2008 16:43

Bethoo you are a skinny wench. I say that through gritted teeth and full of .

It's my birthday tomorrow. The DD's are going to stay with my sister, DH will be at work all day. I think I may get some nice treats and sit on my bum all day! We are going out for a proper adult night with friends. OOO it is going to be fab.
Can you tell I am a mother who doesnt get much time on her own.

I remembered something else as well.
Breast feeding hurts like hell for the first few days. then it is the best feeling in the world. Nothing gets close to the feeling you have at 3 in the morning and it is just you and baby snuggled in your bed. Knowing you are feeding your baby is brill.
I really dont mean to upset/offend anyone who didnt breast feed. I know it isnt for everyone.

Pops you phone me whenever you want. I shall send you the bill. I know where you live

accessorizequeen · 08/08/2008 20:35

have a nice birthday ronshar, that sounds great!

star, a friend advised me to leave bathing to dp so he had something to get involved with (hard when you're bf for them not to feel a bit left out at times) & it really paid off, not least because I had a section first time and couldn't really do it anyway. I do second having a bath with them as it's a) much easier to hold them and b) soooo lovely. I'm sure all your 'instruction manuals' will get dusty with disuse because you'll figure it out quickly enough! Hope you're having a better evening - some days I do just want to cry too. Feel enormous and people will not stop commenting on it fgs (oh, really twins, you'll have your hands full argghhhh) and I am nesting completely but don't have the energy to actually complete anything.

star6 · 08/08/2008 20:40

are you really having twins? How exciting!
or did I misread that?

accessorizequeen · 08/08/2008 20:48

Yup, only one on here (I think?). It is exciting, that's why I'm finding all the negative comments a bit hard to take sometimes!

star6 · 08/08/2008 21:02

why are people negative about that? Twins is so unusual and amazing!! Oh you're going to have so much fun And they are going to have so much fun growing up together
I'm a total pregnancy novice so I don't really know what I'm talking about here, but I've seen shows where women have multiple births (but way more multiple, like 4 5 or 6!) and they always have to deliver early. Is it the same with twins? Since there's less space, I thought maybe they just naturally head down the birth canal a bit earlier once they run out of room? If so, that's great - so you know you won't have to go overdue!

accessorizequeen · 08/08/2008 21:08

It's prob. because I've already got two (and when they're in tow, people are unbelievably negative - how will you cope, you poor thing, I wouldn't be in your shoes etc!! So much for children being a blessing. Other mums have looked at me with pity for months now!). Although a friend with dt's gets pretty much the same 'double trouble' comments and she has no others. Still, once I was over the great shock and negativity myself, I am really happy about it. Will be induced at 38 wks. No reason why twins can't go to 40 wks, I'm told (triplets+ is quite different I believe), but 37 weeks at the latest seems more average. They will run out of room earlier than a single baby, that's true, but both keep switching from head down to breech at present. I'll just have to wait and see!

star6 · 08/08/2008 21:15

Your other two will be able to "help out" ohhh, I cannot imagine how it must feel to have two babies turning from head down to breech... when my one baby does that it feels like an earthquake inside of my stomach!! That must look really cool from the outside.
Your other dc's must be so thrilled about this!

Happy Birthday ronshar.

I can see bathtimes being fun here too, with 2 of them to bathe every night by myself, and only very deep baths to do it in (we have Japanese soaking tub which dd usually uses).

07mumstheword · 09/08/2008 10:27

Pistachio You have summed how I'm feeling perfectly, I'm so pleased I'm not the only one. I'm alway tired, feel heavy, difficult to bend down (I cried the other day cos I couldn't get the post and DH had walked past it, I ranted that nobody in this house understands how difficult it is to bend down ) and get so excited about the baby being here but wonder how a baby fits into an already busy life with DD asking why, why, why all the time!

I'm sure it's normal and everything will fall into place but irrational fears steam through my head.....I'm getting particularly anxious about the birth too.

pepperrabbit · 09/08/2008 15:15

Anyone else got to the stage where they have to kind of lassoo their knickers over their feet to get dressed?
Or is that just me .
DS2 has taken to wearing his favourite bunny up his T-Shirt and telling everyone he has a Bunnybump and Mummy has a Babybump. Bless.
Reality will hit him quite hard I think, as he's sooo used to being the "baby" and he is very, very cute (and knows it!)

pepperrabbit · 09/08/2008 15:17

CSWS - I'm already clueless as to how I'll cope with Triple Bathtime....maybe I could alternate them and one could stay stinky each day?
Then, how would I remember which one it was...

bigmouthstrikesagain · 09/08/2008 16:26

Afternoon - hope everyone is having a good weekend - hormones and aching bones all round of course.

I have just been sorting out my photos and found the attached pic taken just after I had ds in 2004 - I can't believe I look so fresh faced considering the hours I had spent strapped to that bed! Bearing in mind that I looked so bad that dh decided not to photograph me after dd was born at home (drug free) - I am wondering now why I want another homebirth!?!!

My memories of the total hospital experience are very negative though despite the good outcome (one very healthy baby). I much prefered being at home and I still want that this time round - circumstances allowing.

star6 · 09/08/2008 18:14

Beautiful bigmouthstrikesagain! That's how I want to be... numb from the waist down and fresh faced . sorry to be so honest about that... I know that a lot/most people seem to want to enjoy the all natural process of birth, but I'm 93% sure I want the epidural. I don't care if it takes DAYS or WEEKS to deliver the baby if I can't feel anything

Had a really rubbish day today.

Everything that could go wrong did, I am responsible for hiring out our village hall, and got there to let someone in this morning only to find half the electric not working.

While I was trying to sort out hall problem, got chatting to one of the women there, when she found out this is my fourth she asked if I didn't think 3 was a big enough family which upset me a bit. Okay this one was a bit of an accident, but she made me feel like I had to justify myself.

I then dropped ds1's dinner on the floor while trying to cut it up.

Baby seems to permanently have his feet stuck in my ribs, and I am feeling very breathless today. I keep seeing little star things floating in front of my eyes too.

Think I should have spent the day in bed.

OK whinge over. Feel a bit better now.

jenwa · 10/08/2008 09:44

moodywren Are you ok today?????? The stars in front of your eyes does not seem good!!! Sorry dont want to worryhes, you but you should get it checked if still there as can be a sign of pre eclampsia, do you have any headaches or swelling?? If so ring your midwife as you will need to just get checked out. Please dont panic but just want you to rule that one out.
Hope you have a better day today. Some people can be rude as question your decisions based on their own so ignore comments about how many children you decide to have and turn it round by saying its planned and you want a big family an you feel you have done an excellent job with your children or jst say f**k Off!!!!

pepperrabbit Yes kind of doing that with my pants too!! I cant even see my parts anymore either which is not the end of the world but would at least like to make sure its all tidy there before I go in to labour!!!!

bethoo you look fab and yes agree with perkypopsy about walking the dog like that, you do rock!!! I wear trainers and jeans, I cant do heels!!! I am 5 ft 10" so am too tall in heels, look like a tranny walking in them!! Only wear for going out etc and def not know as I dont think I would be balanced!!!!

SmudgeyDoodle · 10/08/2008 11:59

I think we're all starting to slow down and find things difficult. this is the cue to either let things like housework not get on top of you or find willing DP/children/slaves to do it for you. Not feeling great today as been throwing up all night. I think I ate something dodgy yesterday lunchtime because friend who is staying with us, is the same. Thank goodness it's the w-e so DH can do most of the childcare. TMI alert: when I first started throwing up, I thought by waters had broken but then realised that I was heaving so much I'd wet myself I think I had decent pelvic control before PG again so hoping that it's all just softened ready for birth.
Re double buggies: I met 3 people with twins the other day and they all swear by the nipper 360 which did seem good. I think we'll have a look for that one on ebay etc

rowanmac · 10/08/2008 13:04

hi all
Just catching up.LOL at pepperrabbit plenty of lassooing of knickers here too. What i don't understand is that last time I was 40 wk size by now (30 weeks) and i could still paint my toenails whereas this time I can hardly wash my feet! Maybe its a time thing.

I'm also trying to work out the bathtime thing I'm assuming that at some point I can just chuck them in together to be hosed down, not really worrying about it as everyting kind of worked into a routine somehow last time. pepperrabbit could you not just do a scratch n sniff test and wash the one most in need.

star6 I was given some books, I made the mistake of reading one at 6 weeks and made myself feel like the most inadequate mother in the world. As for bathing I remember being terrified but its amazing how quickly you move from terror to chasing them round the house trying to pull their clothes off and manhandle them into the water. The scariest thing ever was driving home from hospital, everyone was driving too close, braking too late and driving too fast IMO, again its amazing how quickly you get used to having a child in the car.

07mumstheword · 10/08/2008 15:09

Star On my first birth plan I had put I wasn't brave and wanted all the drugs available especially epidural..... complications dictated I wasn't allowed an epidural

I do admire all those ladies who go natural or as little pain relief as possible but I wouldn't have a tooth removed without some form of pain relief

Smudgeydoodle If it makes you feel any better I was head in the toilet Friday night and wet myself with the effort of being ill I have had a cough for about 2 wks and at night it just gets worse making me sick.

LOL about lassooing Pepperrabbit I'm finding all clothes a struggle and uncomfortable at the moment.

As for getting near my toes well I've given up and booked a pedicure but they can't fit me in until the end of the month.

Another embarressing thing is that the last time I had my bikini line waxed it was so painful and I ended up with burn marks so the other day I shaved, couldn't see what I was doing but by yesterday I had terrible itchy shavers rash The dignity of it all.
