Lcy · 05/08/2008 14:42

Thanks everyone - makes me feel better that i am not the only one who thinks this is a bit weird. Sibh your parents in law put everything in perspective. At least there will be one positive if i go overdue

PetitFilou1 · 05/08/2008 14:52

Bealcain If you are there and not contracting too much can you tell me the simplest/best way I can use my wrap sling when lo is newborn? I'm struggling with all the different ways you can tie it and need to practice just one! Off to watch the dvd now as have cleaned the loos, bath, shower etc so think I have earned a rest.... but have to say I don't find it easy following a dvd.

bealcain · 05/08/2008 15:02

find the centre of the sling (usually the label) place above your navel,
bring both ends round to the back and cross. Bring either side up over your shoulders
put both ends underneath your first bit
cross again
bring round to back and tie.
if you have enough material bring back round to front and tie.

that's the simplest i can write.

take it slow, take your time!!

bealcain · 05/08/2008 15:03

fhlh big hugs huni. it's really annoying how things have a habit of catching up on you isn't it? i feel find for days and then all of a sudden feel like i've done far to much!

dizzydixies · 05/08/2008 15:14

oh ladies just nipping in quickly to say congrats to you all

all well in the dixie household, just trying to get feeding established with wee one of no name

aunt still here so taking full advantage of that

will pop in again soon

PetitFilou1 · 05/08/2008 15:49

Thanks Bealcain - am lost though and now too hot! Think I had better wait until the huge bump is not in the way!

Hello dizzy Still no name?!

Buckets · 05/08/2008 16:01

Hi all
Congrats to Skytv and VG, sure your LO will sort himself out soon VG.

I'm still sore, not sure what's stitches and what's piles and too scared to look, would have asked the MW to look this avo but inlaws turned up with DD. Nipples getting worse, BF counsellor says Kurt is a 'little pickle' and we're to go back tomorrow too. But otherwise, things good, DD home now and DS coming after tea.

FoghornLeghorn · 05/08/2008 16:03

Hey Diz, glad all is well Chez Dizzidixie

I know I have done this twice before and should know better but ...... I can't stop going to the loo and I have loads of discharge .... does this mean things are gearing up ?
God I hope so !!!!

longwayfromhome · 05/08/2008 16:05

petitfilou have you had a look here

The first video on the list is very simple, and bealcain might correct me, but I am pretty sure that it is suitable for a newborn. We practiced it on my MIL and DH as the bump got in the way when I tried!

longwayfromhome · 05/08/2008 16:07

Oh, and of course many congrats to all the new babies, and many thoughts to VG and family while your baby is in SCBU.

pregnancy1 · 05/08/2008 16:12

Congrats to all the new babies v exciting.

Just had my 38 week appt (38+3) and bean is still nowhere near engaged.... so much for our little chat and her agreeing to come out at 38/39 weeks .

humbug

cyteen · 05/08/2008 16:24

dizzy lovely to hear from you, but still no name? I feel that we should all rally round to assist you, since you're so helpful whenever another MNer needs suggestions, so...how about Griselda? Blodwyn? Pinotage? Come on girls, help me out here

Bloody Lidl and their bargain chocolate. I only went up there for veg to make coleslaw tonight and somehow a huge bar of hazelnut choc just leapt into my bag...and now I feel sick Have spent the last few hours lying on the sofa watching Buffy DVDs and stuffing my face instead of doing my accounts like a good girl.

oopsacoconut · 05/08/2008 16:45

Hi All

Dizzy good to hear from you - please name the little one!!! How about Mercedes, Porche, Ernesta??? There must be one name that suits her? What do her sisters think she should be called?

FHLH {{{HUGS}}} Hope things get better soon.

Cyteen DH raves about Lidl choccie it apparently has a higher cocoa content - so if you have the dark stuff it's full of iron!

Bealcain Thanks for that tying lesson - I had a go with my Kari me yesterday and a teddy and discovered its not made for a 8.5 month pregnant woman and a toddler sized bear

Buckets Pleased to hear you are all going to be home together as a family today. You can always get MW to have a peek in the morning (assuming they are coming everyday)

Lcy IL sympathies coming your your way.

Hope all the new mums are coping well and babies are being good for you.

VG Hope your boy is back with you now.

bealcain · 05/08/2008 16:48

longwayfrom tis a great site!

pf the method i've described is the moby way. if you look at calinbleu they tie differetly. IMO the moby way is far better, much more supportive and much easier to get baby in. i would try to get the hang on tying now, rather than waiting as it'll be one less thing to worry about. get tying sorted, then you'll only need to sort getting baby in and out. i'm sure ts said there were good instructions on youtube.

dizzy glad things are going ok. you're fantastic coping with everything so well. i admire you hun!

pg1 it's horrible this waiting game, isn't it? not meaning to dampen your spirits further but i went 11days over with ds1.....was the worst experience of my life, always thinking today would be the day.....so lots of hugs coming your way.

bealcain · 05/08/2008 16:49

oops i did a sling demo the other day for some mums-to-be and so didn't have small baby to show the positions with. had to use ds2 now 17months....to say it was uncomfortable is an understatement but definately not impossible!

stillhere · 05/08/2008 16:52

Congratulations to VG and Sky - I can't believe I logged off last night and then missed a whole swathe of exciting birth news. Hope your LO's out of SCBU very soon VG and back with you - sending you positive vibes.

Nothing exciting to report here except more reddish show material appearing late last night. I'm hoping the show will go on [apologies for cheesy pun emoticon] as I'm still not nearly ready for baby yet...

Will try to check in later in case there's some excitement from Bealcain or the others. Downward thoughts coming your way.

And how did the turning go today Libbysister? As I said yesterday, I'm not breech after all but having read up on ECV etc. I hope all is good with you.

CaptainCaveman · 05/08/2008 16:54

Congratulations VG buckets & skytv on your arrivals. Jolly well done!

bealcain & TS are you both going for the thread record of 'Longest Time in Labour'? Personally I'm going for the 'Biggest Queue Jumper' having shaved 16 days off my original due date of 17th Aug .

Oliver is just grand, very quiet and peaceful little thing. Woke up once last night . That Will Not last I am sure. My norks are painfully engorged today - have been squeezing the excess out to relieve the pain!! Generally feeling fine, just the usual post natal hormones up and down. Like albs said last week, I suddenly feel very sorry for ds who said to me last night "Promise me mummy you will never forget I am your son" . I promptly cried for 20 minutes about how unsettled he must be feeling.

Any babies yet today? . I'm sorry, it's not fun waiting is it.

bealcain · 05/08/2008 16:59

CC how would you know about waiting

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2008 17:01

okay i have been sound asleep since my last post. feel as if i've taken a muscle relaxer and a sleeping pill. although odd i'm trying to go with this natural phenom. hoping this my bodies prep for the push. maybe it will be this evening......

foghorn, i went through what's happening to you yesterday. i think it's all part of the pre-labour process.

lcy, there's always someone(s) that try to good things for us. {{{hugs}}}}

dizzy, no name still???

buckets, don't look.

bealcain, i've had about enough of this long labour process...shall we form our own club now?

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2008 17:02

captain, ouch

OP posts:
cyteen · 05/08/2008 17:02

stillhere I lol'd at your 'show must go on' pun Someone on another board I frequent said that whenever pregnant ladies talk about having a show, she pictures a barbershop quartet turning up on people's doorsteps singing "Your bay-bee will be commmminnnng soooooon" It would certainly make life easier and more predictable if that were the case.

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2008 17:05

i had show three weeks ago.....coming soon?? WRONG!

OP posts:
bealcain · 05/08/2008 17:08

yes the 'spread my legs, get it over and done with' club...you like?

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2008 17:10

YES!

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2008 17:11

Based on actual measurements my baby's head is ONLY 3cm from crowning. Now tell me what the problem is and why she can't figure out how to scoot just 3 more centimeters!!! Good Gracious!!
