poppysocks · 03/08/2008 10:43

Congratulations jenny! Do come back and let us know what name you've chosen for her and hope the feeding picks up soon.

Sorry to hear about your rubbish evening - in all ways - TS. Hope you manage some good sleep.

Buckets! Are you excited that you may get your VBAC after all? I'm still sort of hoping that things here get kicked off before my date. Don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell though.

We've actually been really busy here since I've been on mat. leave, but think we need a quiet final week. Barely had a chance to actually sit down with DD and do a jigsaw or read her a story or two as we've just been out and about so much. This week though plenty of that and lots of reminders about using the loo - a particularly nasty accident while we were out yesterday reminded me that I still need to remind here . Can't believe that this is the last week with just her...

cyteen · 03/08/2008 10:49

Congratulations Jennylee! What lovely news, hope to see you on the post-natal thread once everyone has had their babies.

Lcy · 03/08/2008 12:39

Hi everyone

Congratulations Jennylee and everyone else that have had their babies! There will soon have to be a thread for us on the postnatal board!

I went back to sleep for a couple of hours. Hope you got back to sleep to Twilightsurfer - sorry you are so uncomfortable.

Hi SazzlesA - swollen hands are horrid, i have to run mine under cold and hot water every morning to get my circulation going again each morning.

Petitfilou - what is in your homebirth kit, are you having a pool. Would be good to check i have everything i need!

Right off to have a second breakfast.

CaptainCaveman · 03/08/2008 12:45

Congrats Jennylee, what lovely news

Buckets how exciting! How are the contractions now?

Sorry to hear your evening was not so good ts. Praying that minisurfer shows up soon.

Tom is enjoying cuddling his little bro but soon gets bored and would much rather watch cartoon network on the patientline tv!
Oliver fed pretty much solidly from 1 til 5 am, and is just in the process of doing the same again, having started his latest marathon at 10.20!!! Latch seems ok, just waiting for milk to come in.....

ok, am going to try and shut my eyes if ican persuade Oliver to part with my nipple

Lcy · 03/08/2008 12:54

CaptainCaveman Congratulations on the birth of Oliver! I have just had a look at your photos and seen the cankle - so glad i am not alone! Please tell me they have gone down now - i am scared i am going to have cankles for life.

Buckets · 03/08/2008 12:59

Still contracting, 20 or 40mins between them but pain is more intense so DH is going to have to chauffeur us about as I wouldn't want to get one while driving.
We're off to visit his folks to reassure DD about staying there then off for dinner at my folks' (we're all within 10miles). Am just about to pack kids' bags just in case things get worse and we need to ditch them!
Don't think I'd go for a VBAC now, happy to remain at this level of intermittent pain though til a civilised hour for electives, whether that's tomorrow or Tues as planned.

Congratulations Jennylee!!!!

Sleeping in two hour increments now. That does allow for some relief. Just had my second shower of the day. I guess you can say I am CLEAN. Baby has settled but still obviously posterior. Hips and legs ache immensely. The pain I can deal with it's just my crying that's out of control. BOO HOO HOO I HATE BEING WHINEY!!!!!!

Anyone heard from Bealcain??

OP posts:
Lcy · 03/08/2008 15:36

TS - have you tried kneeling on the floor and leaning over a birth ball (or coffee table if no ball). It is meant to help baby turn because heaviest part (the back of head) is pulled to front of belly by gravity. May be worth a try if you havent already?

libbyssister · 03/08/2008 16:20

Just popped in. DS and DH are both snoozing upstairs... I'm the one who needs the rest dammit .

Stillhere I'm also breech, scanned last week after suspicions at my 36 week check. Into hospital on Tuesday to try and turn the baby which I'm not looking forward to but apparently they have a good success rate. I can't give you much info about where you feel the kicks with a breech baby. Mine apparently has it's butt in my cervix and it's legs stretched out so it still feels like it's kicking me in the 'normal' way. But I do know that I've got a very hard round head right at the top of my bump...

Better go, I can here stirrings upstairs...

PS. Lovely pics of your new baby girl DD!

PetitFilou1 · 03/08/2008 16:58

Hi all and congrats to JennyLee

Just got back from day out. Absolutely knackered. I sat on the stairs and cried before I came out (when dh asked how I was) - I just want to collapse into bed now but no chance.... sazzles no choice but to go out all day or dh would get no sleep - had four of them rampaging round the house this morning until he got home as it was. It is the noise that gets to me more than anything. Once we were out it was easier than being on my own - but before in the house, it was starting to do my head in!

I have now got the point where people are staring at my bump when I go out. I wonder why they don't realise this is pretty rude! But I assume they are thinking that I'm about to burst and why am I out?!

Lcy Homebirth kit has fairly basic stuff like needles, bed mats in case waters break, sutures, drugs for getting the placenta out (now in fridge) and in case of a lot of bleeding to close the womb up, that kind of thing. They bring the entonox with them. I'm not having a pool, I figured the bath would probably do. Depressingly, that was the second mw I've met who has said that 3rd births can be a bit of a wild card and not to assume this one will be fast (although it could well be). I'm impressed with how much experience the mws have round here though. The four I've met have had over 100 years experience between them!

Hi Petitfilou - thanks for info. I think i am all set now - just need the baby to want to come out I have also been very impressed by my community midwifes. There is a much higher than average homebirth rate around here and the CM's are so experienced that they have been training the hospital midwifes on how to deliver in water. I don't think i would bother with a pool if it was my third, you probably wouldn't have time to fill it!

Right dh is home from golf so we are going for a long walk to try and get things going.

oopsacoconut · 03/08/2008 17:39

Hi All

Nothing much news here at all Raining and wet, I wish the sun would come back, although it means I don't have to water the garden.

Have stalked Mrsmagoo on another boards I know her from and at 12 today She seemed to be having regular contractions 7/8 minutes apart but not very strong she was sure this was it but waiting for MW to ring her back.

This baby is moving down and pressing on my tail bone, which I broke falling off my horse years ago, which is very uncomfortable and it worried me that the back pressure means she has spun around and is lying back to back.

AnnVan · 03/08/2008 17:50

MIL has invited us round for a roast - great in htat I won't have washing up to do, but not so great in that mIL can't cook!
As DP said, if it's inedible, we can eat something when we get back!

oopsacoconut · 03/08/2008 18:11

Have just made a yummy fresh Victoria Sponge for DH and anyone who wants a slice - homemade strawbug jam in the middle with buttercream. Roast in the oven, washing done, floors washed - I AM A DOMESTIC GODDESS at least for today tomorrow is another story.

Is anyone else bored with this whole maternity leave thingie?? I have only been at home a week and so want to go back to work I hate being home without DH and all my friends are working or away on holiday for the next weeks or so.

AnnVan · 03/08/2008 18:46

Oh Oops I'll have some of that sponge! mmmmm. I am not a domestic goddess at the mo

TwilightSurfer · 03/08/2008 18:56

Oops I'll take a slice too. What is it with our girls?!?

TS I am hoping it's not a sign of things to come!! Have persuaded reflexology lady to press the labour buttons next 2 sessions or i might have to put my hand up there and retrieve her (baby not reflexology lady)by force!!!!!!!!

DH has managed to spread icing all across the kitchen counter? Not even I made that much mess and I was baking!

Midwife thinks the pressure on my back is the head swivelling down as if she is her losing her thumb and turning to find it?? Thoughts of c-section and begging slowly coming to mind.

TwilightSurfer · 03/08/2008 19:09

Sounds like we are both in the same boat....too bad it's made of chicken wire and we have no paddles!!! I've tried everything to get this kid to turn around. See the doc at 9:45 in the morning AND I'M DEMANDING an eviction!!

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 03/08/2008 19:10

Going to try and nap some more in case tonight is a repeat of last night.

OP posts:
oopsacoconut · 03/08/2008 19:12

S;eep well TS and good luck with the eviction notice if I don't 'see' you before then.

PetitFilou1 · 03/08/2008 19:13

sazzles I think I better keep quiet on that subject - lets just say some mothers are good at small age gaps but I was not one of them I'm hoping it will be easier this time but I'm sure every age gap has its pros and cons....

Lcy I'm impressed you can go for a long walk - I can't! Can manage about 10 minutes max then start to ache and have to sit down.

oops Sad to say I love the time I'm having on my own on Monday and Tuesdays. I can have a restful time pottering about. In the last few years I have discovered that about myself, sometimes I need peace and quiet just to keep my head together. Speaking of which, I am just off to read the paper while dh goes out for fish and chips - think he has realised I'm at the end of my rope this evening!

Skybluebelle · 03/08/2008 19:23

Hi all. Have been meaning to join MN for a while now, but thought that I might not get any work done if I did! Anyway, I finish work this week so I don't need to worry any more! Hope it's not too late to join this group as the babies seem to be arriving quickly now! Congratulations to all those who's babies have arrived already - I'm hoping mine is staying put for a couple of weeks yet as I've still got lots to get ready! For stats purposes (if TS has got the energy), this is my first, due 20 August and I live in Birmingham.

VintageGardenia · 03/08/2008 19:32

Oooh pf lucky you with fish and chips! Hmm I wonder would that do us here... It's YEARS since I had them and now that you mention them...

oops I had my reflex this afternoon, she pressed all the buttons and I must say I felt plenty of twinges during the session, no doubt about it. However, she left, and normal service has resumed! She said it usually takes 24 hours so perhaps I'll be writhing in agony this time tomorrow... Thanks for the sponge, most fluffy & delicous, a good hors d'oeuvre before my possible fish n chips...

TS hope you get a bit of a nap in. Do you mean you are going to ask to be induced tomorrow?

CC glad you are sounding so happy and little Oliver has a good latch already!

DP gone for a run, DS following on his bike, so have one precious hour, thought I would do a catch up here rather than the washing up!
