Sorry Bealcain, spelled your name wrong

Also, just wanted to agree about getting your pump out and ready in case. I had no plans to use mine at all (had it still from last time). It almost went into storage when we moved to my mum's. In the end, I needed it daily for the week Saul was in special care. And dh had to run out and buy a steriliser as we did not have one.

TwilightSurfer · 02/08/2008 12:35

Morning ladies. Guess we are all basically sleeping (or not sleeping) the same way. I know I've snoozed some but still don't feel refreshed. And my body aches all over like I fell out of an airplane without a chute. and as for my poor undercarriage......all this pressure is REALLY doing a number there.

38 Weeks today..........where's the LIGHT?

good advice about pumps ilana. I know I didn;t strictly need mine as you did, but last sunday - the day my milk came in when i was feleing overwhelved and also v v sore (beofre we sorted the latch fully) and when i called the bfc in tears she suggested expresing a small bit to relieve engorgement, and also she said that knowing I had expressed some would be a back up if I felt i couldn't cope (I was feeling very bad an was muttering dark thoughts sbout formula). We had to unpack the pump and sterilisie all the stuff (luckily milton only takes 15 mins) - but I was glad I had got it all to hand even though we still had to sterilise and work out how it went (it's a friends super duper pump - luckily similar to the one I had before)

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 02/08/2008 13:41

Hi everyone, Ilanak could I ask some advice about breastfeeding or is that another thread.
Just wondered when is best to introduce expressing, do I need to build up a supply first or can I start straight away.
Think I may have started too early last time. Not sure really
Any advice from anyone much appreciated.
Thanks

Had lots of braxton hicks yesterday and today I think....

TwilightSurfer · 02/08/2008 13:45

wish it were just a power outage issue as DH is a manager at our local power company so could just tell him to FIX IT.

Oddly today my left foot is swollen and my right foot isn't. I guess that's not HALF bad. LOL

I'm sending strong eviction vibes to all those in Contractors' Corner today - you must all be so fed up. Also sending along some sleepy vibes to Insomniacs R Us, it's miserable lacking in rest isn't it? Although thankfully I did sleep well last night and no anxious dreams. I shut the cats downstairs so as not to get trampled over and it was bliss, the only interruption being some idiot who decided to drive up our quiet residential street and park outside our house at 3am with ragga blasting out of his car stereo Thankfully someone quickly set him straight.

Weather is moody here - it hammered down last night, rather nice actually - and DP has hurt his back, so we're having a quiet day in, pottering about and doing some minor sorting of stuff. Moses basket is set up and awaiting baby It's quite an eye-opener thinking that the wriggly thing in my tummy will soon be wriggling in there (and in our arms, and on the bed, and in the baby seat...)

I think the iron tablets are having a beneficial effect already, in that I no longer feel like I'm about to drop dead every time I crawl up the stairs. Thanks to all who cheered me up and gave advice yesterday - wobble over

It's been flip-flops or no shoes here for pretty much this entire pregnancy. When folks ask if this summer pregnancy has been harder than my winter one, I've gladly answered NO....I've been able to walk around half naked the whole time. How can that be worse? Right, Oops?

Heh, I hear ya TS - thank god I can just push my feet into Birkenstocks rather than having to bend down to tie troublesome shoelaces.

TwilightSurfer · 02/08/2008 14:23

It's not the heat....it's the humidity that kills me.

Give me 40 in Vegas without any humidity anyday!!

Twilightsurfer dont know how you cope with that. I am terrible I moan about wind and rain and how pale I am, but then as soon as sun is out I am straight indoors in front of a fan.

Thats not just because I am pregnant either I have always been like this.

No nothing happening, desperate to hold on 1 more week for my home water birth.
Not sure if I am confusing BH with baby movement. Although keeps getting very very tight and rock hard.
Am doing a lot at the moment could be bodys way of telling me to slow down.

Not much chance of that with a 17 mth old and house/pet sitting for sister, and cat sitting/feeding for neighbour, and having a conservatory built

cyteen · 02/08/2008 14:45

Okay, I have a confession to make: I have no idea what contractions might feel like. Have been getting lots of odd periods of time where I feel sick, restless and taut, then it passes again - does this sound likely? I'm just worried that all the other first timers on this thread are happily talking about their contractions and I don't know whether I've ever had one or not

MrsMagooo · 02/08/2008 14:48

Cyteen when a contraction hits you'll just know - I know that sounds contrite but it's true there's no mistaking them

What your describing sounds like BH's - they are more uncomfortable or tight then painful

afternoon all.
Good luck to those hoping to have babies soon

we're having an ok day. dh and I are really tired - dh poss more so - cos he got up with dd and has bene out and about with her (they've just gone swimming now) - and Hnry and I stayed in our beds a bit longer this morning.

We seem to be getting a bit more used to the nights - not sure we'll ever be used to them really but it's not as bad as it seemd a week ago. Last night Henry did 3 hours, fed,2-3 hours, fed, then slept til 8ish - so another 3 hours. He deos seem to settle ok after just one side at night - which makes it a bit easier - esp compared to the cluster feeding of the evening.

Looking fwd to hearing more from captaincaveman about Oliver
