Mrs W it's by Naomi Stadlen - it's in most bookshops now I think.

tribpot · 14/02/2005 14:00

Tea - yup, the only thing he has drawn the line at today is ironing, and that's because I won't let him buy the iron attachment for the steam cleaner, otherwise he would be up for that too.

Welshie - I shall read "What Mothers Do" when lounging at my desk sipping champers and making phone calls to my mates (I've never had a job like this but let's pretend) and phoning dh to say "what on earth do you do all day?"

Uwila · 14/02/2005 14:03

Oh trib, if you ever get that job, canI be your assistant. I'll make those calls for you. In fact, I'll call everyone's DH and ask them what they actually do all day. That would be soooooo fun.

Speaking of DHs, would you be interested in a hubby swap for a few days? Mine can come round and install a wireless network / server / printer / whatever for you. And your can come do my cleaning?

teabelly · 14/02/2005 14:13

Uwila...it's just a healthy obsession, ha ha ha...it's a secret all good (lapsed) catholic girls hide!

tribpot · 14/02/2005 14:28

Uwila - unfortunately mine is also able to install a wireless network or similar, (I could even do that myself - we are both IT bods). However, I am sure your dh is in better health than mine so I bet can find some physical jobs to keep him busy (steady now Teabelly ... !). However, I will certainly offer you the job as assistant, if only I can find a champers-sipping, phone call-making kind of role. It must be out there .. I am sure of it!

Uwila · 14/02/2005 14:38

Oooooo... physical labour macho kind of jobs. Not sure if dh will be up to that one. I had to teach him how to mow a garden (sadly, that is not a joke). And, just before doing this I had to explain to him why wimly ectric jobbie mowers were not man enough for me. So, we went out to procure a REAL mower (one powered by a petrol engine -- which incidentally is not a motor but an ENGINE). Oh well, he mows the garden now. So I guess it's progress.

Interested in WW1? He is THE expert. Check out www.firstworldwar.com if you don't believe me.

Perhaps we could start a business where women with unappreciative husbands pay us a fee (and a nice bottle champers)to phone their husbands and ask them what exactly they doo all day long.

teabelly · 14/02/2005 14:38

Ha ha ha - I'm trying to think of something witty to say, but this little one is kicking away furiously...almost like she's saying 'God mum you're sooo embarrassing' - either that or she liked the mountainous chocolate bar I've just devoured!

Uwila · 14/02/2005 14:40

Oh yes, and I can install a network too. But why would I? There has to be some price for the priledge of living with me!

katzguk · 14/02/2005 14:42

you can come and install a wireless network at my house if you want that would be great!! we've just got broadband and its great wireless would be good too!!

Re the FIL he has had a stroke so can't do anything physical, so although he's the worlds leading authority on everything he can't actually do anything!!ahhhhhhh, he was like this before the stroke so i'm not just being nasty!!

I knew that dh was the man for me when he was staying over one night and my radiator fell off the wall. He replaced it wearing only his pants - a few things became clear during this episode and we were married less than a year later.

teabelly · 14/02/2005 14:54

Welshie...I thought I was the sex mad one here!!

Uwila · 14/02/2005 14:58

oh YUK. There's too much information on this thread.

welshmum · 14/02/2005 15:02

Uwila it's all in your head it became clear that he could mend radiators....and that he had muscles....

Uwila · 14/02/2005 15:07

And which "muscle" impressed you, Welshie?

teabelly · 14/02/2005 15:07

...that's not a muscle Welshie!!!!

welshmum · 14/02/2005 15:09

You're making me blush. I know that's not a muscle. I meant his manly arms (he'd just been working on a festival site - erecting large tents with enormous poles....ha)

teabelly · 14/02/2005 15:10

GrinGrinGrin

Uwila · 14/02/2005 15:16

"erecting large tents with enormous poles" Is there some (not so) hidden symbolism there?

katzguk · 14/02/2005 15:21

you're all very rude!!

teabelly · 14/02/2005 15:26

Katz says she who's whisking her dh off for a dirty weekend shortly, he he he!

MrsWednesday · 14/02/2005 15:27

All this smut! Is this to get you ladies in the mood for lurrrrrrrrrrrrrve on Valentine's Day?

My DH is away until Thursday so there's no loving going on in my house (not that there would have been if he'd been here, if I'm honest).

welshmum · 14/02/2005 15:29

Mine still has to do diy in his pants to get anywhere with me

welshmum · 14/02/2005 15:30

I've just read that back and it's appallingly rude

katzguk · 14/02/2005 15:30
