Sarah, the only relief I've found for the hugeness/elephantist feeling is devouring a bowl full of tomatoes/cucumbers/carrots/olives without dressing and limiting the olive intake (they're just there to get a bit of salt flavor) plus drinking loads of water. Seems the combo helps flush my system without pain IYKWIM. Only a few hours after I consume the above I start feeling better.

Expectant, seems the docs in Singapore are a bit OLD SCHOOL. I've never known a doc here to "require" shaving (THANK GOODNESS) and the enema can be requested but is usually more mess than it's worth (it only makes the stool runny mostly). Now in the 50's and 60's, a shave and an enema were standard protocol....but the also allowed women to smoke in the bathrooms too.

As for crazy me...I began to feel more rested yesterday afternoon after sleeping for several hours and eating tons of the veggie salad listed above. DH handled dinner, Chinese take out. Walked the neighborhood before bed. That's about it. I was able to sleep but I'm totally uncomfortable because the baby's head is pretty much sticking out my . All I really need some really nice contractions to get my water to break and I'll feel 100% better. Maybe today??

Sazzles when you evict DD from paddling pool are you going to plop in as a security measure, making sure she can't get back in it?

That reminds me, when I was with the doctor when I was confirming pregnancy with DS, she smoked DURING the consultation. And in the hospital when I had him, there was a smoking room.

Gross!

Thank goodness you can't really smoke anywhere in Ireland now.

TwilightSurfer · 27/07/2008 10:01

Went to be at 9pm and it's just 5am now, figure that's not too bad compared to some nights I've had. I'll have my toast and OJ then go back to bed. Nobody will be up till at least 8am around here.

poppysocks · 27/07/2008 10:01

Thank you all for the sympathy. Now sitting here in tears. This MUST be hormones. Truly pathetic! Just had a good moan to my Mum so feeling a bit better and at least I have hot water and a functioning boiler, unlike her!

Oh yes MrsMagoo how was the wedding? Hope you enjoyed it at least a bit and you got lots of appreciation for being there at this stage and in the heat.

Sazzles - LOL at DD being evicted from the paddling pool. Sounds like a superb plan!

at the smoking at your consultation VG. Amazing how (relatively) quickly it's all changed. They'd only recently banned smoking at your desk when I started in my first job 9 years ago - and this was a huge FTSE 100 company, not just a renegade pro-smoking operation . Thank goodness is all I can say (sorry to any mad nicotine cravers).

ChaCha · 27/07/2008 10:06

Good morning girls,

GG - Hadn't see you post for a while, glad all is ok. You are having your section the day after mine, care to share a place on the panic pants boat? Am a mixture of emotions at the moment.

PF - Glad DH was able to take over, lack of sleep, feeling heavy and uncomfortable and small children to look after can certainly take its toll, only so a gal can do.
Hope you have a relatively peaceful day and good BBQ food.

Poppy - Am sorry to hear about your night - ahhhhhh!!! Is DD still at napping age? Really hope you gets some rest! Enjoy a nice coffee and remember 'You are not tired! You are not tired!' Not an indulgent post at all, the beauty of this thread is that we are all is the same boat and those of us with DC can support each other and lend an ear. Your DH has a lot of DC time i believe to catch up on when home

Foghorn - Also hoping you have some rest today. Not easy i know.

Hello to all those who have posted since i sat at table (ages ago) and anyone i didn't mention in person...

DH's b'day didn't quite go to plan, after our return home DC refused to nap so DH (I had fallen asleep leaving them with him) decided it would be a good idea to let them nap at 5.30pm as did he. They woke at 7.30pm ready for action so we spent the evening outdoors and then bathing them at near midnight!!! DH also thought it great idea to cut their hair (something to do with me asking him to take them to hairdresser) so now blondie locks are all gone and boys look ready for recruitment...
DS2 hard work this morning, 2 DC definitely easier than 1, DS1 and DH still asleep - both boys together are definitely less work.
DS2's pretend cake making has turned into chaos, better run.

Love to all, thinking of you tomorrow DD and hugs to everyone else, particularly those finding these last days testing. x

You're right ChaCha - DH does owe me for this one . We had hoped to get to the wedding together, but 500 miles away 3 weeks before EDD didn't really seem sensible when we thought about it properly. He's been pretty good though at giving me plenty of space before he went and I know will be when he gets back. Just makes me feel all the more pathetic though!

DD now hassling to go out - terrible fog here so no heat at least. Think we'll head into town and throw cake at my problem .

CaptainCaveman · 27/07/2008 12:04

not read posts since yesterday but guess where I am? Yep, back in hosp. Baby fine but I had more headaches and came in to be checked and the swines kept me in!!
Apparently my uric acid levels are raised so they want to monitor me for 24 hours. Hopin they will let me go tomorrow.

cyteen · 27/07/2008 12:20

Ooh, positive vibes Captain - it must be such a worry and a pain, but at least they are keeping a close eye on you and Jerry.

(((hugs))) all round to everyone struggling with heat/swelling/contractions/no contractions/SPD/fractious children/fractious partners/whoremoan tsunamis.

Was absolutely SHATTERED yesterday after coming home on Friday - the journey across London took more out of me than I realised, especially since not one able-bodied person offered to help carry my case up any stairs or owt Generally I've avoided making a big deal out of being heavily pregnant, but in this heat it would have been nice if someone had at least asked. Anyway, spent yesterday morning totally flaked out on the sofa after a crap night's sleep, then ILs arrived to take us out for a lovely lunch, so the afternoon was better. Got a bit more kip last night, thank heavens, and now lolling about in my new maternity nighty which is of course already carpeted in cat hair.

Off to a picnic with our NCT buddies this afternoon - I'm so excited to meet all the new babies! Must remember to take my camera. Snuggly baby cuddles -->>>>

Oh, and I almost forgot that we have finally settled on a name for this little one - Joseph Simon. I suggested Joseph a while ago and DP wasn't keen, but since revisiting some old Judge Dredd comics and realising that Dredd's first name is Joe he's really come around Simon was my brother's name.

VintageGardenia · 27/07/2008 12:20

for you CC but do you know what, it's the best place for you and you should take advantage of the enforced rest. What do they think might be causing the headaches? Are you ok for your DS tomorrow?

VintageGardenia · 27/07/2008 12:25

cyteen you have a lovely day planned! Are you going to wear the nightie to the picnic? I would stay naked in bed under a sheet if I could at the moment. Clothes are REALLY irritating my body, grrr.

Joseph Simon is a gorgeous name. Giving the baby your brother's name is such a fantastic way of honouring him. Do you think you will call DS Joseph or Joe or Joey or just wait and see what sticks?

cyteen · 27/07/2008 12:35

Heh, I would consider wearing the nighty if it wasn't so hairy I'm such a slattern. Know what you mean about clothes, I'm almost contemplating going for the miniskirt and bikini look this afternoon

Re. the name, I reckon we'll call him Joe for everyday use and Joseph for Sunday best or when he's been naughty

VintageGardenia · 27/07/2008 12:39

LOL I can just imagine when he's eleven, Joseph Simon cyteen get your bum down those stairs this instant! etc etc.

cyteen · 27/07/2008 12:41

Exactly Middle-naming for full disciplinary effect!

MrsMagooo · 27/07/2008 12:44

Afternoon all,

CC Sorry to hear youre back in hospital hun

Fingers crossed things settle down & you can come home very soon!

Sazzles Bless your DD!! That does not make you a bad mummy!!

Poppy throwing cake at my problems always helps me

Well I made it through the wedding without killing anyone to many problems.

I had 7 people say 'Ooo now don't you go into labour today will you', 4 people ask me if I was going to have anymore after this one & then saying 'Oh you'll change your mind' when I said no (If people think they know the answer why ask?), about 300 people pat/prod/poke/rub me like a magic lamp, a dozen people make jokes about waters breaking & thinking they were hilarious & about 10 people say 'Have you not had that baby yet'

My mother didn't seem to care less that I had made a HUGE effort in going & staying for the whole day after making me feel so guilty when I had said last week I honestly didn't think I could cope.

I did at least look half decent - piccie on my profile page

Got MW appt at half 3 today & desperately hoping she'll do an internal & tell me I'm 9cms dilated what do ya reckon the chances are???????

Xx

poppysocks · 27/07/2008 12:47

cyteen - That's a lovely name and a wonderful way to honour your brother. We're STILL in a quandry about using my sister's name as DH just can't get beyond how much he loves it. He is still happy to go with an alternative, but trouble is that I love the name - as a name - too, so think we probably will. My Mum positively wants us to use it and is speaking to my Dad about how he really feels, since he's still refusing to discuss it . Think we've decided to put in a 3rd [gulp] name, so that she we have an alternative that we can switch to (as other middle name is a family name that we wouldn't use) if it all feels too odd.

CC - Sorry you're stuck in hospital, but it's good your there in case there are any real concerns and that you and Jerry are both fine.

DD is still a demon child. Took her out for a coffee shop treat - fine. Walk, not so much and cue new tantrum. DH thinks I should give in to her to keep the peace - v. tempting - but worried about getting her used to me giving in when I can and then not understanding why it's all changed, when I can't. Anyway, after the early start, she's gone down for an early nap and then over to a friend's for the afternoon, so hopefully that'll keep us busy.

poppysocks · 27/07/2008 12:51

Glad you made it through Mrsmagoo. Sorry you didn't get full appreciation from you mother - or any more original chat from other guests. But yes, you looked fab darling!
