qumps · 12/09/2008 17:15

no idea. legs are v hairy too and in serious need of pedicure. unless back gets better soon may have to rope in dh to defuzz me. so romantic!
cheese is practically a vegetable. brilliant!

qumps · 12/09/2008 17:17

will add sock putting on to the list of things ds needs to be able to do before baby arrives. what with going up and down stairs, feeding himself and making a cup of tea he is going to be a busy boy

moosemama · 12/09/2008 17:26

Ooh! Digestives with cream cheese (pasteurised of course) and strawberries on top!

Haven't had that in ages. Might have to put in an order to DH on his way home as well (had a Tesco delivery this morning hence the doughnut, but no digestives.)

Stripey - you get DH to do it for you, and lace your boots/trainers/DMs up!

moosemama · 12/09/2008 17:27

Sorry, excuse my cross posting.

LenniEd · 12/09/2008 20:41

Wow! Can't catch up, just not possible . Noticed boys names thin on the ground with everyone so not feeling so bad now since we still have none at all!

We have a MB - is worth trying to find a bargain one on ebay, but the better ones usually go for a bit more money and save having to replace covers etc. Newer ones def better. Not only Urban Detour complaints are from you qumps - I have a friend who has endless trouble with hers and she bought it new. She covets my MB quite a lot! Can only use her Urban Detour on level hard surfaces now as otherwise it gets punctures or something goes wrong with wheels. Perhaps another Friday afternoon one!

Nice to have you back NJ! Glad you are well.

I know a couple of Evie's and neither get shortened to Eve. Think Evie runs more easily off the tongue than Eve so maybe that's why?? Think it's a lovely name. Was one we considered for DD. In fact we lengthen DDs name to have an 'ie' sound at the end, all the babies I know seem to end up being called 'John-nie', 'Issie' etc. etc. when they are tiny! Soon wears off though - well maybe when they are about 10!

have been away for a couple of days and really don't have the patience right now to read all the posts but had a skim. (i haven't really been away, just working in the studio trying to get work done for a show coming up next month). sounds like lots are on an emotional rollercoaster with finances being a bane in the side. for dh and i its not so much the finances right now but finding a reasonable and affordable place to live where our finances won't be to stretched that we can't save as well. this morning he stated we should ask my uncle if we could move into the flat downstairs because it is cheap. there are very good reasons it is cheap; window doesn't open in main bedroom, no window in the 'second bedroom', (actually, it is just a room that goes into the laundry room and barely enough room to put a crib in there let alone anything else.), no room for a bookshelf or tv in the 'living room' not to mention that i can now hear the tenants laundry spinning and know that there won't be much privacy. my uncle already complains about the noise of the current tenant, (not that bad) and so, could you imagine what having a newborn is going to do. also, i don't think DH understands fully how badly it is affecting me right now to be so far out of town, so far away from anything. there isn't even a park to go to around here. its all houses and more are being constructed. it is a blasting zone that starts at 7am. (speaking of which, some dynamite just exploded. my nerves are slowly being shot.) plus there is the added piss off of the chance of seeing my mother, (long story, don't talk to her and don't intend to). i'm already feeling outside of my friends circle because it is so hard to get into town to socialize. can't do anything at the spur of the moment. a 20 minute drive is 65 minutes by bus. the bus service is lack luster and the one that comes through this area to take you to the regular buses is not equipped to take strollers. they have bike racks on the front but you can't take on a stroller.

i'm whining i know but i felt out of sorts this morning and normally i can change that feeling but with DH this morning i just cried and now its just getting harder to get out of this funk.

well, i go to london in a few weeks, without DH, so maybe i just need a break.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 13/09/2008 08:51

Qumps, lol at hairy legs, I did mine for the first time in a couple of weeks last week (blush) also tried to tidy up the erm.... lady garden, am not doing that again before the baby is out, would rather have weeds and trees growing in it then try and do that again!

Hiya Lenied How are you getting on? Seems like a long old time ago those BFPs were coming along!

Agree with the 'ie' sound, DS2 is George, but only when I am telling him off (!), otherwise he's a Georgie

Chefswife, I don't drive so rely on the bus, can't imagine how frustrating it must be to not be able to just jump on and off them as you need to. And dynamite exploding at gone 9 o'clock at night is very out of order. Why don't you plan a nice relaxing night tonight, stay in the bath till you're all wrinkly, do a face pack, read a book, watch a good crappy film (just don't try and tidy up your lady garden, it seriously isn't worth it )

DH is working this morning, but once he is home we are off out to order the carpet for the boy's room (DS1 and 2 are going to share, so the baby will go into DS2's room) then next weekend we will be actually sorting the room out, putting the new carpet down, get it painted, new curtains/lights/bed covers etc., none of it very exciting, but it does mean that I can finally start ordering the things we need for the baby I am probably going to order the furniture this week because it will take a while to come, and then I have to make the decision as to which nursery range to go for, I have two in mind and just can't make my mind up, any thoughts welcome: I like either the Barn Yard or Zanzibar collection. Barn Yard is brighter, easier to match other things in with, and I guess more stimulating for the baby, but the Zanzibar stuff is (to me) gorgeous! The furniture will be oak if that makes any difference?

Periwink · 13/09/2008 11:43

Hi ladies , thought it was good idea to catch up on the thread. Crikey there is a lot to catch up on. I am sure in the spirit of shopping but have to restrain myself - my mom is visiting so went to Mothercare this week and bought a few things. I am having to go for another bra fitting as the bras I bought at 13 weeeks no longer fit anyone else feeling their breasts growing daily - these will be true milk monsters come 40 weeks. Baby is moving a round a lot too, however not in tune with the hiccupping yet (first baby so not sure what to look out for) Still cannot see actual bump move but can feel lots of movement in bump. All this talk of buggies makes me want to get mine now! But think I will wait until the end of October.

I had my first proper sleep last light - slept all the way through, the first proper sleep since being pregnant! Must have been the long soak in the bath.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

MsSparkle · 13/09/2008 11:59

Tink i can see my baby at times through the bump. It will suddenly be all on one side, risen up. I think it's the head i can feel when it does that!

Does anyone else have their baby on their bladder alot of the time and then when you go for a wee, the tiniest bit of tiddle comes out. Hardly worth it at all but you feel like your bursting?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 13/09/2008 12:12

Morning Tink

Periwink, I am of your sleep!

MsSparkle, one of the joys of pregnancy is the bursting for a drip or two... If it is very severe though, it is worth mentioning to your MW because it could be a sign of UTI.

Still waiting for DH to get home...

rrrayray · 13/09/2008 13:07

My goodness this thread has been busy!!!!!!!!

Am eagerly Awaiting my polka dot baby grow! Will let you all know.

Glad its not just me who thinks boys names are harder. We are still waiting to find out sex, but massive feeling its a boy.

My gradnfathers were Douglas and Patrick.

For some reason my mother and Sister want me to call the baby Monty.........Sorry to anyone who likes that name......... but i am NOT calling my child that- it sounds like a dog!!!!!

Anyone else having Vivid, Weird, and a little scary dreams? Had a horrid one last night :-(

rrrayray · 13/09/2008 13:26

Oh & just checked dates & Airline policy & realised going to need a medical certificate to fly home from Spain at End of October. Going with my best friend and her little girl (6 weeks old today!!!) to see her Dad to who lives out there, Will turn 28 weeks while out there, so need Certificate for return flight...

can i just get that from Doctor??? How far in advance do i get it? Like a couple of days before, or weeks? Bit clueless!

Not liking the idea of the flight, but i think a little break & some sunshine will do me the world of good!

tinkhasanactivebean · 13/09/2008 15:07

chefswife · 13/09/2008 19:34

thanks natalie (when it is 9pm in England, it is 1pm in BC.)

chefswife · 13/09/2008 19:37

mssparkle yes, she is definitely on the bladder... i rarely have a satisfying pee. tinkletinkle... thats it. bladder feels full all the time.

chefswife · 13/09/2008 19:39

her kicking is waking me up early in the morning, specially if i am sleeping slightly on the side to front of my belly.

LenniEd · 13/09/2008 20:09

NJ - That is a tough one but I think I like the Zanzibar one too - think it would be stimulating esp later on with all the animals to talk about and you could brighten it up with toys when the baby is tiny as they can't see duller colours at first, but think that is only for the first few months. And I'm fine thanks, does seem a long time ago in some ways, but like yesterday in others! Know exactly what you meaning on the topiary front - I am getting to stage where I can't actually see the aforementioned lady garden and as they say out of sight, out of mind!

rrayray - you will need to mention the flight to your doctor and midwife in advance and then get a medical certificate in the week or so before you fly as they will want to wait until close to the time to check you are fit. I think the doctors will charge you a fee to provide it - it was £25ish here when I needed one. I would double check your travel insurance too as a lot of policies won't cover you after 26 weeks, so you might need to arrange additional insurance in case you need medical attention while away.

OP posts:
rrrayray · 13/09/2008 22:11

LenniED - What a star you are! i hadnt even thought as far ahead as travel insurance yet- i guess i'll get looking to find someone who will cover me. Obviously with the hope that i wont have to use it!

funny your all talking about lady gardens.... i've had it waxed for some time... which has the benefit of grown back really fine. but......... when i went the other day she said that once i'm about 8 months, she wont be able to do it very well as she wont be able to pull the skin taught enough! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!

Will have to become a case of like you said... out of sight out of mind!!

tinkhasanactivebean · 14/09/2008 10:23

morning

Spink · 14/09/2008 12:22

morning!
lol at ladygardens - I am very neglectful in this area but even so was thinking it needed trimming. Not going to shave or wax (ouch) but thinking a general shortening might be a good step to take. Alternatively a french plait.
Sorry.

I am feeling VERY sorry for myself (again) I have awful toothache, that gets lots worse when I bend down, and ds is wanting lots of hugs today so I seem to be bending down lots! Argh and I wanted to plant some spring bulbs but can't face it will make my face ache. I am really fed up of feeling so worn out.

It is a beautiful day though, the sun is out and ds is napping. Might get dh to put all the plant pots on the table for me and do it that way!

Oddly, I am not really weeing that often at all, and haven't needed a night wee for the last few days. YAY! something to celebrate

missjackson · 14/09/2008 16:24

Hi ladies have just been catching up on a week's worth of posts love the way we swing from serious financial woes to ladygardens!

I just got back from the most heavenly week in Spain - the house was perfect, the weather was perfect and OH was perfect -- amazingly kept his cool even when I lost his passport with 12 mins left to check in on the last flight of the day yesterday! I had dropped it on the floor when we dropped off the car. But all's well that ends well...

We did nothing except sleep and eat and lounge around - have seriously never done so little on a holiday - usually I read about 5 books, but not even a page this time... I was content to just lie on the beach and listen to the waves while OH stroked my back (he really was truly perfect!)

Anyway, all back to earth with a crash tomorrow when I start a new job a 9 week contract which will see me through to mid Nov. So back to schlepping into town on the tube I am going to stroke my tummy and look aggressively at people until they give up their seat

MsSparkle · 14/09/2008 17:03

MissJackson your holiday sounds like it was what we all need Glad you had such a lovely time.

I remember last time growing my lady garden au natural last time because i was too embaressed to let the midwife see me with just a little strip down the middle! Ah well, i'm sure she has seen it all before but still...

Spink · 14/09/2008 18:37

missjackson - sounds so so lovely. really pleased for you. I've just been reading a thread on holidays with babies that provides quite a sharp contrast... anyone else seen it?
