Hello all,

It is really thundery here with heavy rain and lightning!

fourlittlefeet. thanks for the advice. I suffer constipation anyway, pregnant or not so i will have to make sure i get more fibre.

Tink, those look lovely for your dd for christmas. Isn't it scary to think Christmas isn't that far off and niether is our due dates!

Stripey, i hope your feeling ok. Glad to hear the doctor said everything is alright.

I'm with Qumps, boys names needed please As per usual had girls name all sorted, but boys names, well after the two I already have names are wearing a bit thin! My grandads names were Patrick and Harry if that helps you out any? I like old fashioned/traditional names for boys as well I love Ned (Edward), Seth, and Seb (Sebastian) but DH has veto'ed the lot, he stuck on Ned for a little while but then decided it sounded too much like nerd

On the buggy front I am very torn between the Microlite Toro and the Buzz4, have been looking at the Mutsy Slider as well but it would need shipping from the states and I'm not sure I can be bothered with the hassle, then if something goes wrong with it how do we get it sorted?

Sorry it is a very me me me post, will have to get to know you all a bit before I can comment on anything I think!

moosemama · 12/09/2008 16:03

Anyone else just get completely drowned on the school run! Aaargh, this weather is driving me nuts! Am just about to sit down to a cup of decaff and a ring doughnut in order to recover.

qumps, didn't think you were moaning, all reviews, reccomendations or otherwise very welcome! I've been almost in tears about buggies this time round - you'd think by the third baby I'd know what I was doing wouldn't you! I think that's why I just want to get one ordered and foret about it now.

Been to M&P and Mothercare today and didn't even get as far as testing the urban, it just didn't 'feel' right!

I did, on the other hand, really like the M&P 03 Sport Tundra, its only downside for my requirements was that it doesn't fold all that flat. Mum was really keen on it, couldn't stop her pusing it round the shop! (Had to take a load of baby clothes off her as well, she'd've spent a fortune if I hadn't stopped her!)

The urban definitely has a better padded seat for a newborn, but think if I get the 03 I will buy a lovely cocoony type footmuff plus liner to keep little one snug. It's actually a sort of khaki green colour but thought I might 'accessorise' with a bit of pale pink. (Just a bit though - not too much pink!)

Still hesitating though, mainly due to hearing poor mumsnet reviews about M&P prams and customer service (or rather the lack of it).

Will still be keeping one eye on ebay for that elusive Mountain Buggy as one of those would definitely be my preference.

moosemama · 12/09/2008 16:10

Hi NatalieJane

On my mammoth pram search, I noticed they are selling Mutsy Sliders here.

Don't know if that helps you at all. Like the reversible handle feature btw.

qumps · 12/09/2008 16:12

oooh yes to khaki and pink moosemama. sooo jealous of girls colours! why on earth did you stop your mum spending???!!
nataliejane LOVE ned! were talking about edward last night and i like ted but ned is even better! pray dh doesn't think of the nerd thing too...... edward raymond (my dads name before you abuse!) arthur. love it! ds is alfred joseph simon. will save stanley for next one! look what being off work does to you. far too much time on my hands.
ds on way home - yay! pray he will be happy cuddling and watching wonder pets on mummys knee as been waiting for cuddle all day.

tinkhasanactivebean · 12/09/2008 16:13

i know xmas isnt that far or our babys
very scary
can anyone else see baby movements on the outside of bump this one has hiccups all the time can see from outside
we have had thnder here andheavy rain too

qumps · 12/09/2008 16:13

and forgot to say no idea where you all are but basking in sunshine in west london

qumps · 12/09/2008 16:15

just had bath tink and sat for a good 20 mins watching bump move around. its so crazy! never been able to decipher hiccups. what does it look/feel like?

moosemama · 12/09/2008 16:16

Stopped her as she spends too much on all her children, grandchildren (and great grandchild), but Step Dad (and his credit card) are not always in agreement!

She loves the spending, but hates the arguments later!

qumps · 12/09/2008 16:16

mutsy slider looks a very cool pushchair. now am going completely insane as first though was oh mutsy slider what a cool name! reminded me of lost.....! i need to go out!

qumps · 12/09/2008 16:18

you are a good daughter moosemama. i am the same with my parents but let the mil spend away!

stripeywoollenhat · 12/09/2008 16:19

thanks everyone, am feeling fine after a nap and some digestive biscuits...

i have to say the whole baby paraphernalia just induces complete mental shut down on my part, which i know that i am going to regret later when i have a small baby and a crap buggy bought at the last minute...

nataliejane, i think ned is a really sweet name - doesn't sound remotely like nerd... qumps, my grandfathers were daniel and james, but jeremiah is an old family name on my dad's side if you were looking for something freakishly antique and biblical!

qumps · 12/09/2008 16:23

oooh jeremiah. now what would that shorten to? dh and i both like that when alfie is naughty we can put on a stern voice and say alfred no!
glad to hear you are feeling better.

qumps · 12/09/2008 16:24

stripey how about giving the buggy reasearch to your dh? in my experience men like to do this. its the closest baby shopping will come to power tools!

stripeywoollenhat · 12/09/2008 16:24

tink, every so often she gives me a whack with her head that looks a bit like that moment in alien just before... but she's kind of positioned as though she were on all fours so most of the movement seems to be down rather than out. out is definitely more comfortable than down

moosemama · 12/09/2008 16:25

Wish my mil was interested enough! She'll be all over the baby when it's (sorry she's) here, but will keep well out of the way until all the spending is over and done with. Wouldn't normally mind, but they know we are struggling and can well afford to help but never offer, whereas my Mum would give/spend her last penny but can't really afford to.

I need it to stop raining, my roof is leaking above the boy's bedroom and the roofer can't come till Monday! Its not dripping through, but is causing a nasty damp patch at the top of the wall. Have had dehumidifier going in there all day today.

stripeywoollenhat · 12/09/2008 16:28

yes, i think product research is much more dp's speed - i'm an impulse buyer myself, which is not,i think ,what this occasion calls for..

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 12/09/2008 16:34

Ooooh Moosemama, I have just rang that shop, they don't have it in yet, (we aren't far from Manchester so thought we could go and have a look at it) but he said he thinks it will be a long time before they get it in. What's the betting it arrives in England the week after I give birth?!!

Tink, we can see this one from the outside, especially when he goes all over to one side of my bump, I have one side rock hard lump, and one side empty and saggy!

Qumps hiccups feels exactly like you'd expect it to, a gentle jumping sensation every 15-20 seconds-ish.

Stripey, I had the shut down thing with DS1, learnt my lesson and spent all of DS2's pregnancy researching what to get and what not to get! And I agree, I can't see the whole Ned/nerd thing, have told DH I am not coming up with any more name ideas, if DH can't think of anything he does like, that I like as well, then the baby will be Ned... he doesn't seem to be trying very hard to come up with a name

tinkhasanactivebean · 12/09/2008 16:37

this one keeps hiccuping on my bladder i have only just had a wee

elkiedee · 12/09/2008 16:49

I was at middle school with a Jerry short for Jeremiah, only when we went to secondary school did we find out what it was short for.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 12/09/2008 16:50

There's Jez/Jezza as a shortening as well.

qumps · 12/09/2008 17:07

we have the modern book of names and there are some crazy ones in there. results in much hillarity but no actual serious name discussion.
moosemama oh no to leak. have jinxed us as black clouds rolling in. need to buy cat door mat as their wet paw prints do my head in normally but seeing as can't bend down to wipe them will drive me insane. i am a serious monica.
bump already kicking me in the mary which seems wrong at 23 weeks. stripey digestives are my pregnancy craving. dark choc or buttered plain... yum!

qumps · 12/09/2008 17:08

sis now taking ds to sainsburys. he will be pleased- not! want him to hurry home but plus is just put in order for more digestives

stripeywoollenhat · 12/09/2008 17:12

qumps i've never needed pregnancy as an excuse to crave digestives i like them with cheese - and cheese has calcium, so it's totally legit.

i've been noticing over the past few days that bending down is becoming a total non-runner. how the hell do you put on socks in late pregnancy?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 12/09/2008 17:15

Socks in late pregnancy are a no go, even if you can reach, or get DH to do it for you, you'll be lucky to get them to fit IME, your feet/ankles will be the size of small elephants!
