Anyone else out there? Just got faint, but definitely there, BFP.

Due 1st April, according to those dodgy due date calculators.

Wow! Twins! Congratulations BB and Pruners. I wonder how many lo our thread will produce by then end of all this
Hopeful - I have had pain. Quite alot on left side which they told me in scan was due to the egg coming from the left ovary - have the corpus luteum graviditatis on this ovary. The other pains i had before lots of growing, ligament and wind
Ha! I have just eaten 2 iced buns - these lo are all making the same requests!

LittleMyDancing · 28/08/2008 17:45

hello all, haven't been in for a while but have managed to catch up on the twin news! Wow - congratulations BinkyB and Pruners!

We are quite a massive group now, aren't we? Good thing we're not trying to do physical meet-ups, we wouldn't fit anywhere, especially as we get more pregnant

So I live in Bristol and am currently job hunting, definitely an easy task with a bump showing more and more..... I work three days a week for DP but it's not meant to be a permanent arrangement, so fingers crossed I find something permanent soon.

Seeing the consultant tomorrow - am petrified that something is going to be wrong (lost our last pregnancy at 20 weeks ) so am feeling like cat on hot bricks. Really want him to do a scan just so I can see a heartbeat, but I don't expect he will .

daisycat01 · 28/08/2008 17:49

Hi, Blimey so many posts since yesterday! I had a 2 hour sleep today while the DCs watched films on the sofa, it was lovely, but I did wake up feeling very guilty and very sick. I ahd slept through lunch and I think that is what made me feel carp. So we had some sandwiches and went out to the local park for 2 hours! The boys had loads of fun playing and I sat and ate 2 cornettos!! Even forgot being preganat for a while and the sickness went. As soon as we got into the car though it started again so we can home and had tomato soup and crusty bread, which made me feel better! Am eating an apple now which is lovely!
Havent had any pelvic pains yet, only a little back ache which has freaked me out a bit as that was what I suffered with a week before I had my mc. I am having some horrible dreams when I am asleep and wake up to find I am covered in blood! Bit like a horror movie.
Someone asked if I had any symptoms before my mc but I only had backache and a bit of spotting. It only started to happen the day before my scan that was booked in so it was a real shock when they said no heartbeat and that it had probably died weeks before. I had no idea. I just have to say what is meant to be will be. I am desperate to have my scan, I saw the doctor yesterday and he said he would get me an early midwife appointment to ease my worries. However our midwife is only at the local surgery every tuesday and next week I have organised to take the kids out for the day with another mum so it has to be the following tuesay which is ages away.
Hope all yo ladies are feeling ok, its a bit of a comfort to knwo that I am not the only one feeling rotten and also that its not all in my head. Its really nice to be able to talk about being pregnant too, as we are trying not to tell anyone in RL!!

Congratulations on the twins!!

daisycat01 · 28/08/2008 18:01

Sorry to hear that Little my, my friend lost a little girl at 23 weeks and it was so sad. Hopefully he will do a scan, if not he should do the heartbeat at least. That should reassure you?

LittleMyDancing · 28/08/2008 18:05

fingers crossed. I might just beg him for a scan and refuse to leave his office until he gives in! If I hang onto his ankle, he'll do it, surely?

daisycat01 · 28/08/2008 18:06

Good idea!! Make sure you cry lots too! They hate that!!

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 18:08

Oh LittleMy - I was wondering where you had disappeared to. It is difficult waiting to get past the date of 'last time' isn't it.

Could you pay for a private scan to ease your worries (I guess not ideal to be shelling out if you are job hunting).

I was very relieved to see heartbeat (although the scan was actually checking for cysts rather than babies - the baby + heartbeat was v. clear to see).

But even having seen it I am getting jittery as I approach the stage where I miscarried last time. Frantically symptom spotting and getting v. fretful about it all (ridiculous - I feel sick as a dog and have boobs the size of melons!)

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 18:10

Yup - the psycho-preghead aproach may well work for you! You could bite his ankle while your down there too. Just for added emphasis.

daisycat01 · 28/08/2008 18:11

A private scan is a good idea. We paid £90 for a private scan a few years ago..so not sure what the cost would be now?

I am sure that they will do something for you tommorow. I think you have to be quite stubborn about it though, if you dont ask you dont get IYKWIM?

LittleMyDancing · 28/08/2008 18:12

It's crazy, isn't it? Scan at this stage won't tell me anything useful in terms of reassurance (problem last time was severe heart defects, and the first clue was a high nuchal translucency at the OSCAR, but we couldn't have it confirmed until 18 weeks when they could scan the heart properly)

but I'd still like one.

It's just like you say, I'm just completely paranoid about the whole thing now, convinced that every pain or symptom or lack of symptom means it's all gone wrong

I think we're going to pay for the OSCAR scan anyway (you get a dating scan in Bristol, but they don't do the bloods and all that I don't think), but would be nice just to see the little bean and know that so far, so good.

Good luck to everyone waiting to pass those sad milestones. Let's hope these ones all stick!

LittleMyDancing · 28/08/2008 18:14

I shall be ready to gnaw at ankles if necessary. Tears and biting, should get me my way

OddEyes · 28/08/2008 18:20

can't believe they don't do all nuchal translucency test and bloods for OSCAR at your 12 week scan, was a matter of course here had to opt out if didn't want it. anyways you definatly shouldn't have to pay for it this time round considering your history - ask for it!

LittleMyDancing · 28/08/2008 18:54

i don't know for sure that they don't, tbh, last time round in Bristol they only offered a 20 week scan, nothing at all at 12 weeks.

now the leaflets i got from the midwives in the post say they offer a dating scan, but the leaflets offering the private oscar are still in there too, so i'm assuming they don't do tehe full oscar on the NHS.

but i will ask if we can have one on the NHS and see what they say.

Gemzooks · 28/08/2008 19:11

littlemy, wish you could come over to Amsterdam, a scan here only costs 34 Euros! not bad really. With cheap flights it might even be worth it!

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 19:25

Easyjet fly from Bristol to Amsterdam!

LittleMyDancing · 28/08/2008 19:56

My dad lives in The Hague, Gemzooks, so I could do a family trip and have a scan at the same time!

Certainly worth thinking about

mathsmummy27 · 28/08/2008 20:06

I am as DH not able to come to scan with me - am terrified it will be heartbreak and I will be alone.

Having said that, I am as sick as they come... (without being in hospital poor you btw)and have an enormous belly.

Have had stabbing pains fo the last few days, but like pp but sharp and then achey. Moan over

LittleMyDancing · 28/08/2008 20:11

when's your scan date mathsmummy? do you have a friend who could come with you and hold your hand? Poor you, it's rubbish not having your DH around to support you.

I remember with DS, first time round, I had no inkling that there could ever be bad news, skipped into all the scans just looking forward to seeing the baby with no idea of what might happen.

Wish I still felt like that.

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 20:14

Funny LittleMy - I was thinking exactly the same thing this morning. With DD it was like "Oh, I'm pregnant. I'm going to have a baby". That simple. Even when they kept giving me repeat scans cos they thought she was a bit too small I happily skipped waddled along thinking "Oooh - more chances to see my baby".

LittleMyDancing · 28/08/2008 20:17

it's lovely, that optimistic feeling, isn't it?

this time it's just thinking ahead to the next milestone. I know I have to keep believing it's all ok, but sometimes it's a bit hard.

especially when DS keeps me completely knackered!

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 20:17

mathsmummy - it might be a good idea to take a friend or relative. I'm sure one of us would volunteer if we live near you, but you probably wouldn't want to take along someone else who is pregnant.

Anyway - you feel sick and have a big belly which is great stuff . You'll be fine.

conkertree · 28/08/2008 20:20

thats a shame mathsmummy but i'm sure it will all be fine. sticky thoughts for everyone for scans. Dont think mine will be for at least another 6 weeks.

Its strange being due at the end of a thread this time, as with ds i was due 1st August, so was one of the first for ms, scans etc etc. now i feel like i'm way behind everyone else in terms of symptoms (even those due at the same time). I wouldnt normally be worried, but maybe I should be.

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 20:32

Oh I just remembered - someone said that St George's hospital in South London offer a walk in scan service.

Not sure how it works or anything, but someone mentioned it somewhere else on MN.
