Anyone else out there? Just got faint, but definitely there, BFP.

Due 1st April, according to those dodgy due date calculators.

Hello all

Not been on for ages and lots has happened. Congrats on the twins BB. How exciting!

I had my first mw appointment yesterday. DH had the day off so came along and spent the whole time in the reception playing with DD and the toys there! Nothing too new other than the blood tests are now at 10 weeks so that you get the results at the scan. We are away for weeks 10 and 11 so I have to have it done the latest date before we go which will be 9+5. Unfortunately the midwife who I saw a lot when pregnant the first time was on hols so I saw someone else.

Other than that, just feeling sick. Like last time it hits me hard in the evenings although I feel like I'm controlling it better this time and haven't actually been sick yet. Drinking load of fizzy water, eating toast, crackers and mini bread sticks! I remember how much I hated this bit last time. Fine after 20 weeks, but the first half isn't fun!

Take care, everyone.

xx

oooh, how exciting BinkyB so glad to hear there were two heartbeats winking at you!

Start thinking abut names now as you may have 2 x girls and 2 x boys to narrow it down to .

Babybolat - you say your 10 weeks but due the day before me and i'm only 7+ 2? Am I doing it wrong?

We're off to Edinburgh with DS this afternoon, going to buy myself some funky wellies from the Cath Kidston shop.

BabyBolat · 28/08/2008 13:07

Wow that is so exciting BinkyB - that is great news! So pleased for you! And wow, how nice of your parents!

I think we need to stop talking about food - every time I read anything I want it - and I am no where near an iced bun shop!!!

BabyBolat · 28/08/2008 13:16

sorry not 10 - am 9 weeks (getting a bit over excited there!) - it's because I keep looking at those week by week guides and what will happen in the next week and the next but no 9 weeks tomorrow - although that is still a bit of a difference. My doctor worked it out from the date of my last period, although it does depend how long your cycle is I think.

foxymagoo · 28/08/2008 13:20

Just double checked and doh! I'm actually 8+2 . I'm off work this week and my brain is obviously having some down time!

ScrumptiousBumptious · 28/08/2008 14:03

BinkyB that's so exciting! I'm so pleased for you! Wow! Twins! Have you told many people yet?

I had my booking appointment this morning. It was ovely to see my old midwife again, and I'm so excited to be at the beginning of this new adventure again. I know that sounds cheesy, but it's so true.

Not toooooo long till my scan now (maybe 4 weeks.) No - actually that's ages, and I am terribly impatient. I want to see what's in there!

ScrumptiousBumptious · 28/08/2008 14:04

I want an iced bun too. Actually I want about 6 iced buns. Is that wrong?

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 14:04

Oh BinkyB that's brilliant! Yes start thinking about names and about prams! I think there is a twins & mutiples thread on here somewhere which may provide some ideas.

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 14:08

Iced bun... Hmmm.... now you mention it....

I indulged like mad and had salt & vinegar crisps AND a chocolate brownie for lunch. That really is wrong. But I did walk 2.5 miles to get them.

hopeful1 · 28/08/2008 14:09

There is no hope for me, this girl at work just asked if I was carrying twins as I was so big for 8 weeks, she said she looked like that at 6 months (we are possibly having twins will know next week) but even so. I used to have a flat stomach but not anymore!!
My mum also said that she had totally lost her waistline at 11 weeks!! I will be lucky if I make it that far. I am not telling anyone apart from close family until i am 12 weeks but its so obvious!!
I feel for all you house sellers, we are trying to sell my 1 bedroom flat, have got another house to move in to but I would like to get rid of it all the same!!

BinkyB · 28/08/2008 14:12

Thanks everyone! I will check out that thread LuLu - have so many questions, not least how on earth do you feed 2 babies? Will I just be a 24-hour milk bar??

We need a bigger house!

Have only told my parents and my best friend so far, going to tell the outlaws this weekend so we're off to Devon to see them. Feels so much more real now we've broken our silence!

Iced bun was magic but I now also want six more, so Scrumptious I think it is very, very right.

BabyBolat · 28/08/2008 14:16

Oh hopeful1 I wouldn't worry, sure you look lovely! I never understand why people say things like that - it's actually the last thing you want to hear when your clothes are all tight and you spend all day eating and vomiting!

Does the doctor think it is twins?

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 14:19

Well one of the twin mums I know did bf for 10 months - but only when she was at home because of the logistical difficulties of having two latched on comfortably at once.

I'm always keen to interrogate mums with twins cos I reckon they usually have a few useful tricks up their sleeves.

One told me that giving them a really long bath in the evening helps them drop off more quickly. DD was always v. v. difficult at bedtime. Now I keep her in the bath for minimum half an hour and she's going down like a dream.

mrsfossil · 28/08/2008 14:24

Hello all congrats binkyb

I get my scan next week to see if there is more than 1 v.scared not sure if we have room for twins or more I will feel so much better when i see a heart beat.

its been 7 years since i was last pregnant and i can't remember when you have your 1st midwife checks. I have told my doc so do i just wait for someone to send for me or will they do all the checks etc at my scan? does anyone now what happens now?

My symtoms are different from last time. I feel quite sicky most of the day although I haven't actually been ill. Oh and thank god smock tops were in last year at least i can wear last years clothes without having to buy maternity ones just yet.

conkertree · 28/08/2008 14:26

exciting news binkyb. and sure you look great hopeful - will be easier once people know and then you dont have to be self conscious about it anymore.

am enjoying eating pick n mix sweeties but not sure about iced buns - think its going the same way as the german chocolate cake in my head.

scrumptious - i know how you feel about waiting for the scan - i dont even get my booking in appointment till 16th sept, but i suppose i am due nearly at the end of the month. trying not to get impatient, but will be glad when it all starts feeling more real.

conkertree · 28/08/2008 14:27

mrsfossil - think its different in different areas, but here I contacted the midwives directly and they said the first appointment is normally between 8 and 10 weeks unless you have a reason to request an earlier appointment.

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 14:32

Yes, it does vary from area to area. Some places you get booking in appt before scan and in other areas vice versa.

mathsmummy27 · 28/08/2008 14:51

oooh Binky am so excited what wonderful news! My hormones are going crazy just thinking about it. Huge congrats, well done you. Looks like we might have a few more multiples as well
Scan not for another four weeks but at least I can eat pick and mix until then, great idea conkertree.

Oh goodness - you poor, poor thing. Hope you start to recover soon.

BabyBolat · 28/08/2008 15:59

Oh Pruners congrats on the twins! and poor you about the hospital stay! Hopefully you will start to pick up a bit soon! Try and get some rest!

LuLuBai · 28/08/2008 16:24

Just thought of something which completely disproves the Chinese Gender Predictor principle. If the baby's gender is based on the mother's age and date of conception there can be no such thing as boy/girl twins.

But I suppose they aren't allowed to have twins in China anyway.

hopeful1 · 28/08/2008 17:01

Pruners and BinkyB - congrats on the twins. I found out if i am having twins next thurs, saw two sacs on last scan but one heartbeat at 6+5. Will be 9 weeks at next scan.

Okay I know I am always moaning but week 7 has been shit lets face it...i have had my pelvic pains for a full week and they are driving me crazy, when do they stop as they are really uncomfortable and i can't stop worrying? I asked the doctor yesterday if it was normal and she said what do you expect there is a lot of growing going on in there but you guys never seem to mention it Is it just me or is there anyone else out there that finds the pains worse than the ms?

MegBusset · 28/08/2008 17:15

Just a quickie to say how exciting for BinkyB and Pruners for the twins

Still, I'll be quite happy with one! ;)

I have been alternating craving sweet and savoury food, as soon as I eat one I need the other!

BinkyB · 28/08/2008 17:16

LuLuBai classic "not allowed twins in China anyway" - LOL

Hopeful1 I had lots of weird pains last week, bit better this week unless I get up too quickly if that makes sense?

Pruners I really hope you feel better very soon. Am excited to see another twins lady on here so we can panic together at our expanding selves! Get to bed and stay there for the next few days, weeks whatever it takes. Lots of people said it's worse with twins (which doesn't really help!) but all said it doesn't last forever (which did). Very best of luck to you for getting through it.
