Anyone else out there? Just got faint, but definitely there, BFP.

Due 1st April, according to those dodgy due date calculators.

Forgot to answer somebodys earlier question about needing a wee in the nigh - I have been up 2-3 times a night now! But I have to get up for DD 7months anyway so not too much of a problem!

flyingdaisies · 21/08/2008 12:51

Hey surprisenumber3

I'm 6 weeks also and have woken up feeling not so 'pregant' today, but trying not to worry too much as you just don't know what's going on and I haven't got a scan booked in yet so won't know for a while.

When the headache, crazy tenders boobs and nauseousness are back tomororow I'll be glad of today!

Actually did another p test this am, asI was so convinced something was up. Went P very quickly but I guess that's hormones anyway..

Blimey, it's a journey eh!

foxymagoo · 21/08/2008 13:04

I can't get enough of freshly baked baguettes especially with cheese.. Nice change after six months of having ryvita or pitta pockets for lunch...

Laughed at the ms going away but indigestion replacing it comment - oh yes indeedy. I got Gaviscon on prescription as I used so much of it.

Got a girls night out in Edinburgh on Sat. and bought some sensible flat shoes as can't bear the thought of wearing my wedges. Already armed with my 'why I'm not drinking' story which they will probably beieve as I'm a bit of a lightweight drink wise these days anyway. Just hope my trousers hold up.

DH and me are off work for next two weeks so hurrah! lots of long lies for me.

Relishing still being able to sleep on back/front - enjoy it while you can!

whatawally · 21/08/2008 13:34

Hi ladies-

Thought I'd give the midwives a call today as haven't heard from them yet. Only to be told that they now dont do the booking in appointment till your 9/10 weeks pg. I'm only 7+1 so got another couple of weeks yet.

Kalikaroo- I too have been feeling uncomfortable inmy own skin. But not a physical discomfort. It's hard to explain. almost like a detachment.

Dont get me wrong I am happy that I am pg. But I feel like things are happening around me and not too me. I know how odd that sounds.

I wander if it's because i had the m/c in Jan and it's my bodies way of trying to keep me ticking over till the scan without me losing my mind.

I was a bit disapointed when I found out that the midwife want see me till later on. I feel that this is the worst part of being pg, with all the unpredictability and new emotions. I feel that maybe they are letting women downby not supporting them through this stage. Especially if you've had a previous m/c nd might be anxious for that reason.

What do you all think? Is it just me?

I'm finding it hard to keep up with all your posts, this thread seems to move so fast and I have a constant headache at the moment so dont like using the computer to much.

Sorry for not replying personally to people.

Will try and pop in again soon.

ruddynorah · 21/08/2008 13:42

that does seem a long time to wait whatawally. sometimes it's just because they only have limited slots for booking in because it can take nearly an hour. i know my midwife only has 3 booking in appointments a week.

i'm 8 weeks and was booked in yesterday. went fine, not much has changed since last time. i'm also pleased i managed to get booked into the same hospital i had dd in, even though it's not my area hospital anymore. it means i won't have to figure out parking, where to go etc all over again, and it's more convenient for dh's work when we have scan appointments etc.

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 13:49

foxy - thats reminded me - going for dinner at pil tomorrow night - dont want to tell them yet for various reasons, but we are staying over and i have never not had a drnk when i am there except when pregnant with ds.

Any ideas for good excuses?

hopeful1 · 21/08/2008 14:27

Okay another scary symptom I need help with!! I have had quick short sharp stabbing pains really low down in my pelvis but mainly central all day. Have had them before but not for this long. Everyones pain seems to go so early but i have days on and days off. Am 7 weeks tomorrow. I have a retroverte uterus which appernelt rectifies itself in the first trimester....due you think this is what the pain is? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Ms only at night about dinner time.....right off my food!!

Your stories are really funny and get me through my day as work is really boring!!!!

hopeful1 · 21/08/2008 14:28

thats retroverted and apparently

whatawally · 21/08/2008 14:39

Hopeful- Cant really help- But I would bet money on the pains being your uterus sorting itself out. Am sure it's nothing to worry about.

April- Can't you tell them your'e on antibiotics for a bladder infection or something?

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 14:41

sorry hopeful - cant help with the symptoms but can sympathise with the boredom - work is a wee bit quiet just now, so am getting obsessed by mumsnet.

tristaleejac · 21/08/2008 15:00

hopeful - I've been the same today, stabbing pains really low, like REALLY low behind my pubic bone. Only last a wee second but they're pretty sore. I'm going to stay positive though because I've read about ligaments and stretching and so on. Although having had MC previously it's no wonder the slightest twitch has me running to books etc for advice.

BabyBolat · 21/08/2008 15:01

Whatawally - completely understand what you are saying, I am so pleased that I am pregnant and wouldn't wish for anything else but absolutely hate the fact that something else is controlling my body and emotions!

hopeful1 I had really similar pains a few weeks ago and turns out it was just really bad trapped wind! Another wonderful side effect of pregnancy! normally the pain is a bit higher up but apparently it can be quite low as well.

Aprilitisthen - so far I have used kidney infection (as that can last for two or three weeks!) and just a sickness bug (particularly when my m/s is really bad) but it is really hard - I am rubbish at lying so am always hoping that they wont ask too much! Can't wait until I can tell everyone and it is all out in the open!

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 15:33

yup - think antibiotics/infection type route is the only thing that might work - just dont like lying - particularly because when we do tell them, they will then know I was lying before.

think i might tell my sister tomorrow cause if something did go wrong, i'd want to talk to her anyway.

hopeful1 · 21/08/2008 15:34

thanks tristaleejac thats exactly where they are...they ar driving me crazy, going to go home and have a hot bath. Thanks babybolat, it could be wind as have a lot of it!!!!!!!!!

chloemegjess · 21/08/2008 15:36

I agree it is so hard to wait until the scan. I really wish everybody could get an early scan. I worry the whole time! I am in consatnt panic that somethings going to happen.

BinkyB · 21/08/2008 15:47

Take cranberry juice and say you've got Cystitis. They won't ask again!

StorkExpectedInApril · 21/08/2008 16:16

Goodness, you ladies do chat!! Must keep up

Well, I've come to the conclusion that I've had one of those transplants that leave you with the desires of the donor. I took a 4-pack of Turkish Delight to bed last night, expecting to eat one.

No. Wasn't interested. Guess what I wanted instead...

an apple.

My dh cannot believe it, he is in . What on earth can this mean, that I am expecting a vegetarian??!!!

Hope everyone else is well today. I feel fine really, no m/s as yet....

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 16:22

good idea binkyb

not too hot a bath remember hopeful - so many guidelines to follow now.

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 16:24

lol stork - poor you. good for you i suppose. strange - i've had a mild craving for fruit too - certainly more than normal anyway.

no ms here either but wake up each morning waiting for it to kick in.

Jumbs · 21/08/2008 16:40

Taken ages to catch up! Glad to hear others are having trouble with the toothbrushing. I had this last time and now again. Its horrible and last time I didn't find anyone else who suffered and felt like a freak.

I had to lie to work, told them had docs when actually went to m/wife. I felt really bad. Luckily I'm on holiday at the end of August for 2 weeks. When I come back I will be 11 wks so not long to go before I can tell everyone!

mrsfossil · 21/08/2008 16:53

Hello ladies welcome to newbys!!!!!!!

Still feeling quesy, but i shouldn't moan as i've not actually throwm up. I have also had some indegestion which if thought you got at the end when baby was sitting on your stomach. I'm constantly hungry but don't really fancy anything. I feel v.different to when having ds maybe this is a dd???

Well 7 weeks today went to docs he is going to arrange me a scan soon as i've had clomid so they need to cheak if there is more than 1 .

I have decided that i don't want the birth at my local hospital because of the awful reputation its maternity dept has. I had a difficult birth with ds so i know i will be worried towards the end so i don't want added worry that the hospital will be crap. So I will be going to one which is about 1 hour away. My local doc surgury doesn't have a midwife, there is 1 at a little cottage hospital nearby but because i want to go out of area for the birth the local midwife won't see me, so i will have to travel 1 hour for all my anti natel care

Is anyone else having problems chosing hospital or care

chloemegjess · 21/08/2008 17:10

mrsfossil - i am hoping to go to a different hospital to the one they will altomatically want to send me to. I am going to look round it next sunday, as you can just turn up any sunday (at set times) to look around, which I thought was fab, as I was 39weeks when I got to look round the last one on my antinatal day! This hospital has a birthing centre too, as well as a normal labour ward. I am very interested in the birthing centre as I hate hospitals and last time opted for a home birth but moved to hospital when in labour. So a birthing centre would be a good half way point.

I am unsure of what my midwife will think of this though, so we will see when I have my booking appointment. Apparently it is still the same MW as last time (DD 7months) so will be good but weird to start seeing her again!

mathsmummy27 · 21/08/2008 17:30

Hello all, I had midwife round today - extremely nice and very efficient. Going to same hospital but under m/w care.

As for the exercise...went for a short bike ride up two tiny hills...and turned into the Loch Ness monster. Slimy and desperate for air. Couldn't believe it! Legs went all wobbly, sore thorat, couldn't see straight...what a wimp.

Still, DH found it quite amusing.

SalBySea · 21/08/2008 18:53

hopeful1 - I too have a retroverted uterus and have had pelvic and hip pains too. I also get sharp stretchy pains if I kinda twist my abdomen in bed at night which stop as soon as I straighten up my hips

I havent had any bleeding since around week 4 ish so midwife isnt worried. Its still impossible not to worry though

I also think that my changing diet may be causing me tummy pains which I am mistaking for something more serious

Have a scan tomorrow so will hopefully get some reassurance then

foxymagoo · 21/08/2008 19:14

Good for you Mathsmummy getting on your bike! The thought of going back to my spin class BUT I did spend the afternoon weeding the garden with DS (it was dry and sunny

Excuses I have used are:

Heavy night out last night, feelng rough

Don't want to lessen my 'DS staying at Grannies' sleep with alcohol (this actually is a real reason I've used pre pregnancy!)

The cystitus excuse is brilliant, especially if you produce some Cranberry juice as back up!

Dicky tummy/picked up something from DC

My body also feels slightly detached from me, I had already had a scan by this time last time (at 5+3) so had had 'proof' that there was an actual baby in there!
