Anyone else out there? Just got faint, but definitely there, BFP.

Due 1st April, according to those dodgy due date calculators.

Glad you have found the miracle cure to nausea though. Cheese. Yum.

Riht - off for the usual ridiculously early night.

G'night all.

mathsmummy27 · 20/08/2008 22:18

Thanks Scrumptious. Might haul myself into the swimming pool tomorrow - although I'm not sure it's strictly called swimming when you are just wallowing in the baby pool with a toddler clinging around your neck/singing 'ring a roses' and walking around in a circle/wlaking up and down and pretending (!) to be a whale..

DungunGirl · 21/08/2008 09:08

HI ladies

I have been reading loads of tips for nausea.
Really need somemore suggestions!

I have been stuffing my face all day long with twiglets and table water crackers.

It helps briefly but not for long enough!

I also have a mad mad craving for mango or dried mango this morning. I almost cried when I popped into tesco before work to find that there was no dried mango!!! Booohooooo!

I am going to have to go out at lunchtime and hunt some down...am desperate!

Weird....hoping this means it is a girl this time round! With DS only felt sick in the evenings. THis time it starts in the morning and lasts all day!

With DS - craved savoury stuff - mash potato was my thing!

This time I am craving dried mango!

Any funny stories from ladies on difference when carrying a boy and a girL?

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 21/08/2008 09:40

Anyone else getting really dehydrated? I wake up each morning with a really dry mouth and feeling like I drank ten pints the night before.

Also a nasty sharp headache.

just adding in i have scan at epu 2day to check up, wish me luck, will check in wit the verdict

Kalikaroo · 21/08/2008 09:54

Morning all!

Was feeling fine yesterday, but completely rough this morning.

Sorry for TMI, but I'm still getting a bit of brown discharge which has been going on for a week and a half now. Doesn't seem to be getting worse, but not better either. No idea if it's something to worry about or not. Already asked the doctor and she said it should be ok as long as there's no pain and it's not red/heavy. Anyone else getting this?

Got my first appointment with midwife on Sept 1st, when I will be 10 weeks (8+4 at the mo). I hope she can do some kind of test or scan to check that everything's ok - would definitely set my mind at rest! DH is insisting that he's coming to the appointment too, which is sweet!

PMSL this morning when DH said 'mermaid' instead of 'midwife' (English isn't his first language!!).

Good luck with the scan littlelady!

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 09:55

beth - know what you mean about being paranoid at work - my boobs have grown a bit so am paranoid that it's very obvious - particularly as i was wearing a blouse yesterday and the buttons kept popping open - think that one will be consigned to the wardrobe now - dont think anybody actually saw the popping but enough is enough.

Jemima - my dh is exactly the same as your dp - when we were ttc #1 - we kind of had a scattergun approach and bd lots and lots. this time it was slightly unexpected, so he feels he's missed out

scrumptious - my ds will take a bottle but cant take formula and doesnt like the taste of cows milk (sorry if i am repeating myself) and he still wakes at least once a night -usually twice - for a feed - not sure how to get him out of it but would love to before this pg goes too much further.

havent ever experienced the toothpaste making me feel sick - infact no ms at all yet - but am due at the end of the month so may kick in any time soon.

little - i take water to bed every night now but have done since ds was born as was constantly waking up dehydrated from feeding him - think i feel a lot hotter at the moment too though - or as if i'm not regulating my temperature quite as well as normal - so maybe thats why you get dehydrated just now.

littlelady123 · 21/08/2008 09:57

brown is supposed to be good kalikaroo, old blood. how far r u? implantation bleed? thanks 4 luck i have everything crossed i hav had 2 m/cs b4

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 09:57

crossed posts - good luck littlemy

kalikaroo - is this your first? sure everything will be fine - do you know when your scan is or will you get an appointment when you see the midwife? lol at mermaid - interesting picture.

littlelady123 · 21/08/2008 10:03

aprilitisthen, in regard to ds waking for night feeds, how old is he? if on solids reduce the amount of milk in bottle at night by 1oz once a week so he slowly gets used to less and less and then doesnt bother to wake up for it in the end. tip i picked up from somebody elses.

chloemegjess · 21/08/2008 10:07

Yes I thought breastfeeding was a contraceptive too, untill I found out I was pregnant again! DD must have been at the 6month ish mark when the next one was convieved! Total accident!!

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 10:42

littlelady - ds is 12 months but is bf so dont know how much he gets. dh is going to him if he wakes before 4am now to try and avoid giving him milk in the middle of the night, and the plan is to make that 4.30 then 5am etc till he is going through with no milk - but a trip to my parents has set us back by a bit and the last couple of nights, he's properly screamed at about 3 till i've eventually given him milk, but will get back on track this week.

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 10:43

sorry just realised i have mixed up littlemy and littlelady - will get used to the names soon. good luck for the scan anyway

Kalikaroo · 21/08/2008 10:44

I'm 8 weeks and 4 days at the moment with my first DC, so completely clueless about what is ok/isn't ok.

Does anyone else just feel 'weird' or uncomfortable in their own skin, if you know what I mean?

Though I feel a bit sick and knackered I also just feel uncomfortable all the time, but nothing that I can really put my finger on.

Kalikaroo · 21/08/2008 10:46

forgot to add tat I don't know when I'll get a scan. I live in scandinavia, so don't know how things are done here really.

Kalikaroo · 21/08/2008 10:46

oops that

littlelady123 · 21/08/2008 11:32

aprilitisthen, in that case reduce the tie that he stays on. but your plan is just as good. a lot easier to kick night feeds when they r young though. feeling good bout the scan though because with m/cs, when i went for a check scan i was already bleeding quite a bit, but just 2 spots in 3 weeks, very diluted and not persistent at all. that was 2 days ago now the bleed so no more means good news i hope.

chloemegjess · 21/08/2008 11:40

Can I ask who or why might have an early scan?

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 11:45

kalikaroo - i know what you mean about feeling uncomfortable - with me its mostly when i'm sitting down - i feel as if there isnt quite enough room down there for everything to fit in - but i know that nothing is really growing to any size that would affect things yet - so i must be imagining it, but its quite uncomfortable to be sitting a lot of the day.

littlelady - agree it would have been earlier in one way when he was younger, but he has had awful skin - looking back at some photos, it brings a tear to see how bad he was - so he woke lots and lots in the night with itching. the most sleep i got till he was about 9/10 months was about two and a half hours at a time. Wouldnt feed him every time, but got a bit lazy later on cause was just so tired. Now that the skin is a lot better, the itching has calmed down so doesnt wake him as much.

Fingers crossed the next dc takes after his daddy in terms of allergies.

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 11:46

sorry chloe - meant to say - i may be wrong, but as far as I know, you only get an early scan if you have previously had a mc, or if you bleed etc. But I may be wrong.

fourth · 21/08/2008 12:07

can I join you. Just got a bfp. Had been waiting for my period to start but it didn't so I thought I better test. EDD 27th.

BinkyB · 21/08/2008 12:13

chloe i had one as had used Clomid so was to rule out ectopic and see how many babies were in there. Think even that varies by area now though.

kalikaroo YES I feel really odd, like none of my clothes are comfortable enough and I can't get settled on the sofa nevermind at my desk. Weird! Am also sleeping a bit badly in that I drop off in seconds but wake in middle of the night - think it's just my brain going baby-twins?-work-moving house-baby etc. etc.

Everyone else - how on earth is it possible to feel starving hungry and really sick at the same time? Was wondering around M&S with my tummy rumbling but everything I looked at, all my usual favourites, were making same tummy turn over. Gah! Am finding that a food that 'works' (i.e. stays put) one day is the last thing I need the next. Most confused. My sea bands have helped though I think in that I no longer need to lie with my forehead on the cool tiled wall in the disabled loo. Which is nice.

flyingdaisies · 21/08/2008 12:21

Congrats forth, was it a big surprise?

BlinkyB - hunger is like a state of emergency now!

Hope everyone is doing ok, it's hard going about normail life with this whirling about in your head (and body) isn't it!

x

JemimaPuddleduck07: Don't recall being any more extra tired last time when I was bfing. My daughter couldn't tolerate milk of any sort (except mummy's!) until she was about 13 months old, so it was a necessity to keep bfing, as she was only 7 months old when I fell pregnant. However I was rather sore/tender that time round, so her feeding was a bit painful - but I persevered! So far no pain problems this time, tho my daughter has a rather strong suck, so I think I'll be stopping her completely (from her 1 nightly feed) right away. Last night was good - got her to sleep without anything, so I was pleased! She agreed that she is a big girl now and said she needed something (can't remember what it was) "since I'm not breastfeeding"! LOL I'm sure I've never used the term "breastfeeding" to her directly, but guess she picks up on language! Don't think I'll be weaning my 17 month old son anytime too soon, though might think about it around the time he's 2 (month before baby is due).

StorkExpectedInApril: certainly can't count on bfing to prevent pregnancy, tho it works for some people. My mum had 7 children and bf us till we were all about 21 months old, and all her babies were at least 2.5 years apart, naturally! It seemed nearly like clock work and I just assumed it would be the same for me (tho midwives do tell everyone it's not a sure proof method). Well, my periods came back when my first was only 4 months old, and I was pregnant 3 months later! However, this time round, they didn't return until my son was 11 months old, and not pregnant until he was 16 months old. So, we're all different and can really vary from one time to another.

surprisenumber3 · 21/08/2008 12:24

Hi everyone, 6 weeks since LMP today (although I have adjusted my due date to be 20th April because I have a couple of days longer cycles!).

Anyway, I don't feel sick, have headaches or anything like I did with my other two pgs. The only thing I can't think about is meat and coffee.

And when I need a wee it's like gotta go NOW!

Hope everything is okay. Last week I felt sick, headachey, tearful but now I feel 'normal'.
