Anyone else out there? Just got faint, but definitely there, BFP.

Due 1st April, according to those dodgy due date calculators.

Ooooooooooooh BinkyB that is very exciting. Fingers and toes all crossed for you. Whenever I get pregnant I find myself secretly hoping it is twins. Although in reality I have no idea how I would cope with two newborn babies.

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 14/08/2008 10:21

BinkyB that's so exciting! Fingers crossed number two is getting its heart going as we speak.

evs34 - does your job involve working with midwives, then? I always found the hospital ones were great, but the antenatal ones drove me round the twist.

OP posts:
foxymagoo · 14/08/2008 11:20

LittleMy - our antenatal ones were our hospital ones (and postnatal ones!). You are allocated a team up here so you get to know your midwifes (in my case get to know the ones to try and avoid!).

It never fails to amaze me that some midwives appear to (a) dislike pregnant women and (b) have no interest in newborn babies - why be a midwife then - go and work in an office!!

BinkyB - how exciting....

Got my Doctors app't this afternoon and have my pee sample all ready in the jar. They didn't even test me last time but have apparently changed things since I had DS as I was asked to bring one.

Minki17 - welcome and you are not an older Mum as you are only one year older than me

Went to bed at 9pm last night and slept really well - ahhhh.

Sickness is hanging around and I have a huge increase in my appetite but ms still nowhere near as acute as last time - yet...

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 14/08/2008 11:29

oh foxy that sounds so much better! The antenatal ones here just do blood pressure and wee etc, which means as soon as anything out of the ordinary happens, they're worse than useless. Last time round we had to have a specialist heart scan, and I asked the midwife what stage of gestation that would happen, and she said 'oh I don't know'

didn't say she'd find out
or pick up the phone to find out

just not interested.

OP posts:
foxymagoo · 14/08/2008 11:33

Doesn't even sound like your antenatal ones are qualified midwives!

ScrumptiousBumptious · 14/08/2008 11:36

Morning everyone,

Congratulations and welcome to the neebies as usual (so hard to keep up with names now as not sure who was here before and who wasn't - there are tons of us!)

BinkyB - that's so exciting. I bet you just can't stop wondering what's going on in there.

littlemy, your surgery sound very annoying. Why can't they just move the booking appointment forward a bit? I often find that the receptionists at my surgery are the most unhelpful and unreasonable people and often don't even get as far as an appointment!

Thanks for everyone who has helped me with dates. Am counting myself as 6 weeks 4 days now. Bit sad as have gone back a week (due to my rather stupid counting before!)

surprise - When did you find out? Are you getting your head around it a bit now? How does your other half feel? Hope you okay and not panicing too much! Muse be a bit weird having thought you would be having more time to yourself with LO at school, to be finding the opposite!

It's sunny here at last, and I don't feel (too) sick. Yippee. I'm pregnant!!!!!! (still not told anyone so like to shout it out and celebrate on here!)

LuLuBai · 14/08/2008 11:43

Yay - sunny here too. I'm feeling sufficiently queasy to be reassured that I am pregnant but not so head-spinningly awful that its going to put my whole day on hold. Hurrah.

DD is however in a rather stroppy-toddler mood. Been up since about 4am and shows no sign of slowing down.

BinkyB · 14/08/2008 11:48

LittleMy - I bet these midwives will be the ones who tell you to watch your blood pressure in a few months even though it's them winding you up like a top!

Nice there is such a big group of us on here, and for first timers like me it's great to hear from people who've been through this before.

Am feeling so queasy and bloated and tired - but otherwise pretty lovely! Poor old DH, we are going on a romantic weekend from tomorrow, booked ages ago. Can't say I fancy the idea much at the moment

flyingdaisies · 14/08/2008 12:07

Hello all

I'm a total newbie, who's now got a EDD of 15th April. Wow!

Happened much quicker than expected, so feel v. lucky, but just getting head round it all.

We've known for over a week and not told a soul, so a mixed bag of emotions from wanting to keep it private and used to it all - to dying to tell all.

It helps that some close family live away and we'd rather tell them in person, anyone else do this?

Can't wait to see their faces though.

Congrats to you all!

Can I join your list?

flyingdaisies, 33, West London, 15th April.

Gemzooks · 14/08/2008 12:33

welcome surprise3 and flyingdaisies. Flyingdaisies, I wonder if you're my best friend who is 33, lives in W London and wants to get pg! If so, I guess I 'll know soon enough!

Binkyb, well done and wow, twins! As a second timer, I can only say, really try to enjoy the pregnancy and look after yourself, get loads of rest and listen to nice music etc, as it is so different being pg when you already have a child! Zero time to oneself! Also, people are much more interested and excited about 1st pg.

People are attracted to you like a magnet in the later stages, they cannot avoid looking at your bump. It used to annoy me but it's somehow mesmerising at the thought of a baby in there! I also found that you get quite spiritual and weirdly connected with the universe while you're pregnant, you seem to be in contact with a whole lot of impressions that are normally hidden. So there you go! of course everyone is different.

Tried to eat childminder's warmed up slightly odd lentil soup for breakfast at 5.30 this morning, which was a mistake, but feeling less sick now!

Claireykitten · 14/08/2008 13:13

Hi all.

Sorry I havent been back since my original post. I have been lurking but never quite know what to say as Im not really having all that many symptoms yet. Had a few symptoms for a couple of days ie immediately after the test went positive it seems that I did the test and my body decided 'Ok you're pregnant so THIS is how you are supposed to feel and here you go'. Is it normal for me to not really feel anything, with DS I was feeling really tired and nauseous before I did the test at 6 weeks so this is really wierd for me and no matter how positive I am trying to be its always niggling in the back of my mind that something is wrong and I dont like feeling like this.

Can I just ask as well do you think it bodes well for me that even though I didnt mange to POAS enough since it was wasted anyway I just stuck it in the toilet to see what it did and the test went really darkly positive. Or is that just me trying to read to much into things

Claire

Kalikaroo · 14/08/2008 13:55

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been a rubbish poster over the last week or so - things have been a bit crazy.

Quick update on the situation: got back from my visit to the UK on saturday night, but started spotting with brown blood (sorry if TMI!!) on sunday morning (maybe due to travelling stress?), which has continued til now. Went to see the doctor (who was heavily pregnant herself) on tuesday who told me that it was common and to either wait and see what happens or phone a midwife.

So today I caved in and phoned a midwife and she didn't seem to be worried about it at all and said I shouldn't worry too much unless the blood becomes heavy like a period or I have cramps, in which case I should go back to my doctor. She said a lot of women get some bleeding at around this time (I'm 7weeks 4 days).

She's booked me an appointment to come and see her on sept 1st for my 'booking in' etc (or whatever it is here!).

Sooooooooo - maybe panic over ???? Actually feeling cautiously optimistic now that it isn't a mc. I suppose it is a wait and see kind of thing, but I'm definitely feeling a bit better about it.

Have come down with a rotten cold now though!! (Probably from UK weather!! )

diddle · 14/08/2008 14:12

afternoon ladies, feeling rather yuk today, which is great but not fun. Even eating makes me feel nauseous.
Also feel enormous, haven't lost all my baby weight from the last 2 yet, but i'm sure my body should check how much fat it should be storing because i sure don't need any more!!!

Jenjam, blimey April 05 thats a long time ago. you either have a great memory or have recapped on here. Hope all is going well with your pregnancy.

BinkyB - huge congrats on seing the heartbeat and wow possibly a second too. Baby is very young to show a heartbeat so you never know. all this talk of scans is making me want one.

DungunGirl · 14/08/2008 14:17

Hi everyone

Just had my booking in appointment with the midwife today. I have had it early on request from the GP, so that I can get the ball rolling in case anything goes wrong again...

Was good. Midwife is lovely. VERY reassuring lady.

However, after appointment I have a revised EDD.
So I have changed it on the list.

welcome flyingdaisies and surprise3 - and huge congrats to you, its so exciting when its your fist isn't it FD. It is for subsequent pregnancies too, but nothing is like that first positive. We have family that live away too but couldn't wait to see them so called instead. think i'd burst if i could't tell anyone.

claireykitten - some people are just lucky enough to not feel sick, you wait it'll sundenley hit and you and you'll feel rough as anything. Have you only done 1 pregnancy test? The test checks for hormones in your wee can't say i've ever tried to dip the test in the loo, but its good that it was positive. i'd do another just to be sure.

kalikaroo - sounds positive for you, when i miscarried i started with brown blood but it quickly went to pink then red (within a few hours). Brown blood is old blood and is probably implantation bleeding. If yu're at all over worried, i would and did with further pregnancies, book an early scan a private clinic, if you can afford to. it puts your mind at rest big time, and at this early stage its worth not stressing.

For this pregnancy i'm gong to have to have an elective section due to 2 previous sections, 1st for failed induction and 2nd emergency section. has anyone had an elective and how early did they do it at your hospital?

diddle · 14/08/2008 14:34

welcome babypringle, congrats an seeing your teeny baby.

dungungirl - i'm impressed that your doc has requested you get booked in quick, our doctors and midwives make no allowancs for mc don't offer anything early or extra. very dissapointing. You're very lucky.

hopeful1 · 14/08/2008 15:14

BinkyB,

Congratulations you must be so relieved and to have two!! My sister had twins last year they are hard work but gorgeous. I had fetility treatment so have a risk of having twins too, scan on tuesday so will let everyone know then!!

BinkyB · 14/08/2008 15:37

we were on our first cycle of clomid - such a low dose I was convinced I hadn't even ovulated. Little did I know I had - twice, it seems!

FlyingDaisies we haven't told a soul yet either, just our doctor. Both sets of parents are 4 hours away in opposite directions - mine are coming to stay next week and I am counting the days until I can tell them. Both them and the inlaws want this for us so badly - there will be tears I am sure! Meanwhile I am BURSTING to tell someone so this site is a complete life saver in more ways than one.

BabyPringle / diddle I feel tired and sick too, see you've done this before - when does it stop?? Was fine until this week and now feel like I'm seasick all day.

BinkyB · 14/08/2008 15:39

thanks hopeful 1 ! will know for definite on the 27th so will let you know. See what you see on Tuesday - how exciting.

babypringle · 14/08/2008 16:22

Binky - congrats on twins. last time the sickness stopped approx 14 weeks, but it was at its worst between about 8 and 13 weeks. I found that sweets called preggie pops helped a bit, and also acupuncture wristbands called sea bands were useful (but pretty obvious. must have eaten my own weight in ginger biscuits too ...
