Due April 2009? Am I really the first?

Anyone else out there? Just got faint, but definitely there, BFP.

Due 1st April, according to those dodgy due date calculators.

Hi everyone & all newbies,

Am worried now ToastnHoney, I had a back massage on friday, and a head massage at hair dressers today. Last time hairdresser wouldn't give head massage at 20 wks as said could bring on early labour.

I'm feeling constantly nauseous and like a few others can't face tea or coffee. Not sue how I'll cope at work as we girlies always go off for a tea. I've bought loads of herbal as I can manage those. We're also going for a lunch time drink tomorrow so will have to think up some lame excuse, hmm.

Other than feeling sick no other pg symptoms, my boobs aren't sore. They were loads last time, and grew massive so quickly I honestly thought the baby was going to grow there instead!

Gemzooks - names, been thinking better start early on these as DS was 10 days old before he had a definate name. Only trouble is I've used up the only two names OH and I agreed on with him now! I do like April though as someone said, however, I'm thinking this is another boy...
Wishing luck to all who are having early scans and to kalikaroo.

JenJam · 12/08/2008 00:41

Hi everyone. all this talk of feeling sick is making me feel sick. I have nothing! did another test (err. the 6th now?) and pleased to see the line is darker than the last! We went to a wedding on saturday and one good friend kept nudging me saying you're pregnant aren't you...! obviously wasn't being my usual celebratory wedding guest self... my partner let the cat out of the bag when my eighty year old inlaws came to stay. Now I'm feeling alot of pressure!! they were tearful and excited, kept hugging us etc. I wish I could have a scan too. It would be very upsetting to discover a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks. I have periody=like pains which I guess are the gripes that some of you are talking about.
p.s. rachelinscotland you are not the rachel i know, and i was kind of phew when I discovered that as I like the fact that we're online contacts and not RL contacts IYKWIM. Anyway, off to bed now

JenJam · 12/08/2008 00:42

p.s. jumbs I accidentally had a massage before I discovered I was pregnant with my first (ha! no chance of a massage nowadays....)

ToastnHoney · 12/08/2008 07:58

Ah well, the massage thing clearly isn't a complete nono then? Maybe it's just some masseurs.

Foxy, sorry for mentioning the unmentionable fish item , it's just you made me really happy as have been quite fancying it and thinking I couldn't eat it! Weird isn't it, there seems to be totally different info about what you can and can't eat depending on what book/website you look at. Another friend of mine who's pg (who doesn't know I am) is avoiding eating in pret a manger because of the sarnies esp any with mayonnaise or cold chicken. But I've eaten in there quite a few times, surely the mayo isn't 'real' in there?? And I've been eating cooked prawns too, does that count as shellfish? Bugger, I'm clearly a bit rubbish at this eating when pg thing. (er, sorry if I made anyone else nauseous with this whole rant about food, again).

JenJam, that's it, occasional periody-type twinges is what I've got too. General consensus on these threads seems to be that it's normal and caused by everything stretching, so that's what I'm telling myself!

Clairedaz · 12/08/2008 08:18

Glad to hear I'm not the only one whose boobs aren't sore, mind you not gone off any food at mo (start to panic abit after reading some of the other posts) - suppose paranoia does start to creep in the early days as you expect to have every sympton going.

Don't want to put a downer on things but gonna wait until first scan before even coming to the terms that I am pg.

Easier to face the fact if Dr Death does come knocking as before.

Sorry, sorry, sorry shouldn't be saying this but this is the only place where I am not alone or afraid to show my true feelings.

DungunGirl · 12/08/2008 08:45

Gemzooks

I am so jealous....I can't wait for a scan!!!! How wonderful AND reassuring to see little one, plus the bonus of knowing that the little heart is pumping away.

I am still waiting for a call from my widwife. The GP put me down for an early appointment so that I could get an early/dating scan done considering my MC in march.

Oooppssss.....scrap that! Just got the phone call!!! Got my first midwife appointment is on Thursday morning. Hurrah!

Now icky question - but I know that we are all going to be sharing lots of lady questions on here!

Has anyone found that right at the start you had LOADS of CM and now it is a little less?

I am 5 wks 3days.

Also, am I the ONLY one that managed to catch the most horrible summer cold going or what? As soon as I got my BFP I also got hit with a killer cold. ARrrghhhhh...snot central!

Gemzooks · 12/08/2008 09:01

morning all!

Cosmo, I like April, those names of 70 years ago are coming back now, like Joy etc..

Toastnhoney, I'm pretty sure most massage is ok, they're just nervous about being sued. obviously you would not have a heavy back massage where you lay on your tummy and had someone apply hard pressure to your back (squashing your tummy against the bed), but they can do shoulder massage, or back massage with you lying on your side. Also re food, ás far as I know the only real no-nos are unpasteurised or mouldy cheese, uncooked or runny egg, raw fish or meat (smoked is OK).
However in pg with DS, when I lived in Kazakhstan, and there seemed to be more risks there anyway which made me more casual (had car crash in taxi at 7 months etc), I had sushi every week because I was addicted to it, and also had a fair bit of veiny cheese, 2 beers a week (halves) and the odd glass of champagne. I would think the risk of a not properly heated up microwave meal would be more than eating blue cheese. Of course everyone has to weigh the risks, and because of m/cs I am much more following the rules this time and not jogging etc.

Dungungirl, hope you get an early scan.

It only costs 34 Euros if you get it done in Holland, could combine it with a weekend away? (I was quite surprised at how cheap it was)

Jumbs, also having probs with milky tea, yuk!

evs34 · 12/08/2008 09:06

goodmorning ladies. hope you are all well today. i have a delicious day off which is making me smile. have my booking app today - felt v happy weeing into my 2 wee bottles in preparation!

not tried real root ginger tea yet but supposed to be good for the nausea. im praying that it never catches me though i doubt i will be that lucky.

toast - i would avoid the smoked salmon just incase. xx

lixanismapolium · 12/08/2008 09:07

DundunGirl - I have the most revolting cold EVER! We went away for the weekend and flew back last night. I a so congested that my ears only got around to popping about an hour ago - pretty painful!

Glaskham - good to see you hear, we met once on a ttc thread! That tes is way more positive than mine was - dh couldn't even see the line until the 3rd one dadi and I was strting to think it was totally in my mind!

Asked my GP about food, and he said the only thing we have to avoid these days is french soft cheese, other than that just eat normally. So many different stories ..... but I like his approach so may stick to it! I suppose as long as we stay sensible (ie. no bits and pieces that have been in the back of the fridge a couple of weeks!) we should be OK.

Spent a lot of the weekend in the back of a car and felt quite travel sick, so Ithink that's the beginning of my sickness. I was really bad last time but am really hoping to fight it better this time around. Some people reckon it's not so bad if you have a boy - any theories out there?

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 12/08/2008 09:55

Lix- yes i remember you from the wagoners thread!! i've now graduated to the wagoners ante-natal!! how very exiting!!

I never had anything like MN when carrying the other 2, so its so exiting being able to share things like this with 'online' people rather than RL people- gives me somewhere to be allowed to get exited!!

OddEyes · 12/08/2008 10:56

Morning all! Welcome to all new BFP! How many of us are there? Add yourselves to the list ladies! So good to have somewhere to come and feel not going through this on my own.
I feel completely exhausted! Yesterday was okish, but today - couldn't get out of bed and when I did went straight back!
No sickness yet. Boobs growing but not painful apart from slamming one into the car door -owww!
I am only 5 +5 today, it is going so slowly! So glad the scan went well for you Gemzooks. Dungungirl Re the question about CM - yeess! I was going to ask my doctor about it - can't remember last time and was thinking something was wrong. Looked it up just now and says that is normal and is due to increased oestrogen.
I have told pretty much everybody - all parents, most of brothers and sisiters, most close friends and some not so close. Either I want them to know - particularly cause of last time as those that knew were such a support when things went wrong or I keep finding myself in the "Wine?", "Rare meat?", "Holiday next April with us?" and try but the funny look on my face lets me down!
Anyways hope you all have a lovely sick free day!

foxymagoo · 12/08/2008 10:57

Morning all,

Lix - I had horrendous ms with ds so that puts the less ms with boys theory out the window!

Have recovered from ropy fish day and feeling great this morning. Had hearty breakfast and nothing is turning my stomach which it absolutely was at this time last time (6 weeks today). Flip side of course is that I'm worried that hormones aren't kicking in and there is something wrong but not going to go there...

Have a good day everyone!

TicTac · 12/08/2008 11:38

Morning, not posted for a while so not had chnce to catch up with all the posts. It looks like there are loads of new ladies joining....lovely!

Is anyone experiencing mild cramping? and symptoms that come and go? One day I feel sick as a dog and then the next I am fine...can't remember this from last time!

I so want everything to be ok!

MegBusset · 12/08/2008 11:47

I didn't feel sick with DS until about 7 weeks, thought I had got away with it and then it hit! Feel fine so far but then I'm only 4 weeks.

I have had a little bit of spotting today, not much though and only brown. I'm not too worried as with DS I had a light period the first month of pregnancy, still I'll be relieved when it stops.

Just adding myself to the bottom!! Did another test today and was definitely still a BFP for me!!!

lixanismapolium · 12/08/2008 13:28

Congrats Glaskhamhasoneintheoven - really exciting to add your name to the list isn't it . Makes it all a bit more real to see it there!

Kalikaroo · 12/08/2008 13:42

Hi everyone. Welcome to the newbies!

Had a doctors appointment this morning (she was heavily pregnant herself!). I feel a bit reassured by what she said. Since I've had mostly brown blood and no cramping she said that it may not be a mc, and that a lot of pg women have some bleeding especially in the first 3 months (I'm about 7 weeks now).

She told me I could either wait and see what happens, or make a midwife appointment at the local hospital for a scan (though at 7 weeks it might be too early to see the heartbeat).

My DH has been telling me to wait and not be so pessimistic , but I'll most likely make a midwife appointment anyway!! It's just not knowing for sure that's the worst bit I think. Definitely feeling a bit more positive than yesterday though.

Gemzooks · 12/08/2008 13:48

kalikaroo, hope you can get an early scan. They should be able to see the heartbeat by 7-8 weeks, specially with the transvaginal one. I really think the not cramping is a good sign. With DS I had a major bleed at 5 weeks but no cramping, and everything was fine.. With 2 m/c it began with cramping like a period... so it sounds like you're just spotting.

TicTac · 12/08/2008 15:44

Hi...just had a snezzing fit and then some pink wee when I wiped (sorry if TMI)

I have had cramps on and off and now have back ache (carried all my labour in my back last time) I am wondering if this is the beginning of the end....

OneBoyOneGirl · 12/08/2008 15:56

TicTac - have all my fingers crossed for you, hope everything is ok

mrsfossil · 12/08/2008 15:57

hello all tictac and kalikroo try not to panic (easier said than done)especially as i have just done yet another test "just incase" i've read that a lot of women lose a bit of blood and their pregnancys carry on ok. Some women actually carry on and have a bleed every month when they would have had af. crossing fingers for you both.

hi hopeful1- i'm due on the 10th as well and i've concieved through iui, i've just made appointment for next week with doc so i acn arrange an early scan to check all is well and see how many there are

well i'd better go and have yet another wee
bye

OneBoyOneGirl · 12/08/2008 16:01

Oops, sent before i'd finished.

Kalikroo - you too, hope everythings ok.

I bled with my son all the way through, with no explanation, quite heavily off and on and was convinced something was wrong, nothing at all was found and after eventually a week in hospital to investigate DS was born problem free at 37 weeks.

Still to this day do not know the cause.

So it really can me harmless, but i do totally understand your worry and know nothing will make you feel better apart from the all important scan Hope you don't have to wait too long

SalBySea · 12/08/2008 17:15

ARGH! I am such a bundle of emotions - first I was just shocked and terrified, now I'm beginning to get used to the idea and even beginning to like the idea of being pregnant but at the same time I am getting increasingly paranoid about something going wrong!

I'm all over the place!
