chocolate chip cookies... the ig soft ones from tescos.

only problem is choclate still makes me puke so i have to walk a fine line with them, i allow myself a quarter of one every few hours

ooooog, i think that just as a precaution we should all lay off the housework

Singingintherain · 04/08/2008 20:27

I am really pleased for you Laidback, I know how it feels, I have been there so many times.

I have just arrived back from yet another emergency scan. They were concerned that I was in so much pain. I had a routine scan with my GP on Friday and it did hurt quite a bit, so I just thought I was bruised. I have been unable to sit, laugh and caugh this weekend. The scan was fine and at the same time I saw a kick, I actually felt it too. The Gynaecologist was quite surprised. I just hope it was for real.

Aparently I am already having some small contractions and I am sure that he pointed out a slightly greyer area that was where it was coming from. Please help me out with that as it was a little unclear if possible.

I was told that I can stop taking the progesterone as the placenta is now supporting him at 14 weeks. That is great as it is horrible taking it.

It is all helping me feel more pregnant. My bump is firm and very round down the side of my tummy button. I crave fruit too and also fuit in cakes etc.

PS Dinkystinky, I did notice slightly more hair on the fingers. I did look to see if there was a full moon, but nothing.

Thanks for all your support. I feel much better now I know the baby is OK.

Morning ladies - we had first scan last week - DH actually believes that we have another one on the way now. It was jumpy around and doing somersaults which was funny to watch.

On the downside, DS1 whose 15 1/2 mths has started not going to sleep easily, we seem to spend all evening and the first few hours of the night going into him and calming him down as he's screaming like a banshee, but he's usually still lying down and his eyes are shut - poor DH has been having to deal with most of it as i've been too exhausted.

I'm also starting to get some signs that I'm getting SPD again, a lot earlier this time as well, which worries me slightly and then to cap it all i didn't sleep on sunday night as I had really bad stomach ache (it was too high and the wrong type of pain to be baby related) and then spent most of yesterday on the loo - going to try eating something today which always fills me with dread after a tummy bug which i seem to have been getting a lot of lately

anyway must go as need to drag the wheelie bins out, but it rainig and i'm still in my PJs

chilledmama · 05/08/2008 09:12

Hello all, have been really bad about getting on...DH appreciating time spent with him in evening though, cause I'm so much fun at the moment!!!

Glad to hear everything is OK Laidback...bleeding always worrying.

Now 11 weeks (well tomorrow) and have scan booked for 18th so fingers crossed everything will be as it should.

Pregnancy is wonderful isn't it MS all day every day, mood swings, and ssooo tired.

MarkStretch · 05/08/2008 10:20

I woke up at half 6 this morning with an insane craving for really cold diet coke.

I hate fizzy drinks and I never drink coke.

How weird?!

dinkystinky · 05/08/2008 10:33

KazzaL - congrats on your scan and sorry to hear your SPD is kicking in. Maybe worth trying to get referred to physio/osteopath early on in this pregnancy to try to manage the symptoms earlier (friends of mine who had SPD and did this early on swore by their osteopaths - those who didnt get referred until later on had generally had their babies by the time their appointments came through)... My scan is on Friday and am hoping all is ok. Think am feeling flutterings occasionally (was doing some boxing training last night with my personal trainer and felt a few flutters) though it may just be wind (another joy of pregnancy...)

Markstretch - one of my friends had exactly that craving (really cold diet coke) the whole way through her pregnancy - she thought it was something to do with the aftertaste chasing away the morning sickness taste (which she had until around 5 months): maybe that's it. Was going to say that hadnt had any cravings this pregnancy but then remembered I've been eating something with cheese pretty much everyday which I normally avoid (as though I love it is massively calorific) - strangely enough I did exactly the same when pregnant with DS and he is now a mini-cheese fiend who does a lovely little Wallace (from Wallace and Grommet) impression of "cheeeeeese"

MarkStretch · 05/08/2008 12:26

I have eaten an egg mayonnaise sandwich. It was smelly and good.

I am now leaving for the airport to hand DD over to Ex-DP for her 10 days in Ireland.

I feel a bit

PinkTulips · 05/08/2008 12:54

whereabouts in ireland is she going to be...... tis bucketing rain over here so warn her she's going to be housebound with her dad for the duration!

have decided to spend some more of my baby fund on nappies am shopping for them now, i think i have an addiction

KazzaL · 05/08/2008 15:39

It's raining here in the cotswolds too - didn't manage to get my wheelie bins out this morning as felt too weak from not eating & stomach bug and it was raining and doing facebook quizzes was much more appealing

I've also got a load of washing on the line outside which has been there since sunday as i've been too ill and DH doesn't think - i'm thinking it might as well stay there till the sun comes out and it dries as it will just drip all over the house and i already have 2 loads around the house - what an excuse to put the heating on

Dinkystinky - i've been wondering if seeing an osteopath might be more helpful than a physio this time - watched an old episode of Portland Babies yesterday and they had a chief osteo who seemed to work miracles for a woman with SPD.

and i'm still in my PJs and i must do some chores so DH doesn't think I've been lazing around all day

mslucy · 05/08/2008 15:57

had delicious pasta at lunch followed by trapped wind and 3 rennies.

am also verging on incontinent. do horse size wees and then want to go again 2 mins later.

herbgarden · 05/08/2008 17:28

What's SPD everyone - am confused ?

One of my friends has been told today that her baby isn't growing and she may have to have it early (at about 30/32 weeks) - it's all a bit of a shock so we're keeping our fingers crossed that all is ok. Very scary for her and also when you're pregnant yourself it's scary to think that things are still capable of going wrong at any stage. I think I like to live in blissful oblivion otherwise I'd be a nervous wreck....

KazzaL · 05/08/2008 17:54

Sorry herdgarden - SPD is symphisis pubis dysfunction - basically "the softening of the ligaments in the pelvic area causes the pain and discomfort when walking, and can last for three months or up to a year in serious cases following the birth of a child"

for me when I had DS the pain was mainly at the front, like a uti but only when I moved, not when I weed. But it started off as lots of pain in one of my bottom muscles where my pelvis started being lopsided.

MarkStretch · 05/08/2008 19:14

pinktulips she's in Newry, Co Down. Have packed her lots of jeans and long sleeve tops and a raincoat!

I am now waiting anxiously by the phone for him to text and tell me they have arrived safely.

I hate it when she's not here.

TinkerBellesMum · 05/08/2008 19:16

SPD (or PGP as it is now called) can actually be completely disabling. There was a woman in TaB who is permanently in a wheel chair from it. Normally they tell you that it goes in 10 days when hormone levels return to normal (it caused by the hormone relaxin which increases during pregnancy). I'm still suffering almost three years later and my obs physio said I need proper investigations after this baby as it has gone on too long for them to just send me to a physio now.

chilledmama · 05/08/2008 19:23

herbgarden...blissful oblivion...me thinks you are on the wrong website!!

chilledmama · 05/08/2008 19:27

I think the coca cola thing is quite common...I've had this time around for diet coke...wanted so much of it I made DH buy the caffeine free one.

Some entertainment...I was lying in bed this afternoon and thought I could feel some fluttery feeling, got quite excited than farted

Pregnancy is just so attractive

oooggs · 05/08/2008 19:55

pink tulips - no housework fine with me

markstretch - hope she has a good time

Gina80 · 05/08/2008 19:56

LMAO Chilledmama

Congratulations on the scan Kazza. I've already got my maternity pillow out of storage which helped me get more comfortable with the SPD last time. I'm starting to 'twinge' quite alot now, particularly at night when I turn over. No chance of me escaping it this time methinks

PinkTulips · 05/08/2008 20:01

pmsl chilledmama

think i'm going to have to head to the gp's about my sciatica... it's becoming a real pain in the ass [boom boom]

sorry, couldn't resist! it is becoming quite bad now though, i've just done the kids baths and i was actually lying on the floor crying afterwards, i'm going to be crippled for the night now. it seems to take less and less to bring it on the last few days and i'm only 14 weeks fgs

Gina80 · 05/08/2008 20:10

God I had it too at the weekend PT! Horrible! Had been sitting on the floor reading with DS and couldn't get up. I was literally spasming everytime I moved and had to yell for DH to help me. I was nearly crying by the time I got up. It spasms down my leg when I walk causing my leg to buckle - quite scary when walking down stairs carrying a child It only kicked in at about 36 weeks last time!!

PinkTulips · 05/08/2008 20:23

massive sympathy gina..... it's soul destroying when it kicks in this early isn't it?

it doesn't go down into my legs with me thankfully but my lower back and bum spasm for hours after any bending at all and my hips keep locking up really painfully... not sure if that's related or just another complaint altogether.

like you said though, i find it quite frightening with 2 young kids to lift and carry, it strikes at the oddest times sometimes.

TinkerBellesMum · 05/08/2008 20:54

PinkTulips, my physio was saying that they don't believe it's sciatica in pregnancy anymore that it's part of PGP, to do with the way the bones move against the sciatic nerve. It's supposed to be treated as PGP these days.

I'm with you two on the pain, I started from around my missed period, before I knew I was pregnant. I'm on the top floor of a low riser and I'm trying to orchestrate a three-way transfer at the moment so I can move into a ground floor maisonette.

Gina80 · 05/08/2008 20:56

3 storey house here

MarkStretch · 05/08/2008 20:58

I think you guys have just answered my arse ache question.

Is it like that? I have never had any experience of SPD.
