Hi Nably - it is mostly nausea with the odd puking session. But I am barelt eating or drinking much and I am feeling considerably weak. Plus, my stomach hurts from all the wretching (sorry if tmi) and some parts of the day I cannot walk upright - I am doubled over in discomfort.

pooka · 03/02/2005 11:57

I definitely put my tummy down to lack of exercise post dd. Can feel a hardish ridge which is much much earlier than last time. But, as my mother said, I seem to show pregnancy on my hips and thighs. Have moved up a jeans size, and they are very relaxed in style (!) so am already about 2 sizes bigger than I was pre dd. Am convinced that my bone structure round my pelvis has permanently changed. Honest!
NEver really got round to serious excercise an dieting after she was born, partly because was so tied, partly because of breast feeding and partly because couldn't be bothered especially as planned second baby - didn't seem worth it really!
HAve only put on about 2 - 3 pounds, which is much less than last time. and I blame on feeling rotten this time round.

Beatie · 03/02/2005 12:14

I have vowed to fight the flab a few months after I have this baby. I never saw the point in working hard to regain my pre-pregnancy shape when I knew I was going to put my body through another pregnancy.

After I had dd, I lost a lot of weight initially by breastfeeding but then, because I got a false sense of being able to eat whatever I wanted, I ate too much and put the weight back on.

Rhumba · 03/02/2005 13:24

Hello, just going to sneak on with a EDD of 30/09 I think. Ds will be 26 months and am gong to be at Princess Royal Farnborough, along with soem others I see!

pooka · 03/02/2005 13:40

Congratulations Rhumba, another Bromley-ite. My dd will also be 26 months, ish (born July 2003).

YOKEFLEET · 03/02/2005 13:56

Congratulations Rhumba

andif · 03/02/2005 14:40

Fantastic news! Just returned from scan and all is OK. Baby measuring spot on dates (8 wks) and everything looked perfect. I know nothing is certain, esp until after nuchal scan, but I feel like shouting it from the rooftops!! What a week!

On a sadder note, I now have only one pair of jeans I can do up and none of my tops seem long enough! I refuse to buy maternity clothes yet, but may sneak to H&M for some fat clothes!!

Felt horribly sick and tired all day, but who cares! It'll be worth it!

DecafArabica · 03/02/2005 14:47

Fantastic news andif. What was the baby doing on the screen? I had an early scan last time and DS was pinging around like a kidney bean on coke.

Piccalilli · 03/02/2005 15:16

Great news andif, really pleased for you.

Beatie · 03/02/2005 15:20

I'm so relieved to hear everything is fine Andif.

franch · 03/02/2005 15:33

Hi all, just catching up ...

Fantastic news, andif.

Diane and others - having the same experience tummy-wise. Plus my boobs look smaller than ever! Not fair!!! Why can't I get any of the good pg symptoms???

Beatie - sorry to hear you're feeling so awful - I really sympathise. Like you I'm feeling scarily weak - kept nothing down yesterday other than a cup of Complan meal-replacement at about midnight. Have you tried these? I make up the chocolate version with hot milk and pretend it's hot chocolate. Also Dioralyte sachets for dehydration. Last time I lost at least 7lb - no idea this time as I haven't weighed myself for months but suspect it's more. You could see your GP - they can admit you to hosp and put you on a drip if you're dangerously dehydrated/losing weight. See this thread that I started a while ago about how to get adequate nutrition during m/s. I really feel for you with your DD - I'm incredibly lucky in that my mum is here with me every day at the moment. Really don't know how I'd manage otherwise.

Rhumba - welcome and congratulations! Don't forget to add your details to the stats thread. Ragtaggle too!

I'm SO glad that all went well Andif. How lovely to check in on the baby.
I'm with everyone else on the thorny clothing issue. When i was pregnant last time I bought fat clothes for the early stages before maternity clothes. Now my fat clothes are my day to day wear and maternity clothes still too obviously shaped, so may have to buy "fatter" clothes.

zubb · 03/02/2005 16:10

Glad all is well AndiF.

I found drawstring clothes the best thing for that in between stage the last couple of times. BHS do lots of them that are cheap! At the moment I'm still OK in most of my clothes, but thats mainly because I had lost weight in the last few months so they were getting too large anyway.

franch · 03/02/2005 16:14

I'm lucky if I get dressed at the moment so clothes not really an issue ... my pyjamas still fit!!!

OP posts:
nably · 03/02/2005 16:38

I might have to think about wearing my pj's to work soon then!! My dilema is that ive only got 4 decent suits that fit and I think people will notice my thickening middle if I wear jumper and trousers/skirts like I sometimes do.

I hate not being able to buy clothes (my favourite pastime at lunchtime) but I think I should wait...at least my shoe collection will be healthy over the next couple of months!

YOKEFLEET · 03/02/2005 16:40

Andif - that is brilliant news!!

Another question for you ladies!! I was looking through the booklets I got from Drs for the Booking Appointment as that had a leaflet about scans etc, it only said about dating scan at 20w nothing for 12w?? Its said you can go private for Nuchal between 11-13w. Is it normal to only have the 20w? I thought that at 12w I would have my mind put at rest but not sure now. Sorry if this seems a daft question but its my 1st pg

zubb · 03/02/2005 16:41

Yokefleet I really think it depends on the area that you are in.

franch · 03/02/2005 16:46

I thought 12-week scans were routine. Maybe check with your hosp?

Beatie · 03/02/2005 16:50

Franch - thanks for that link and your ideas. After puking today and ending up in a distraught state of tears I rang my GP and got to speak to one of the docotrs. She was very sympathetic but they strictly follow the NICE guidelines and will only recommend Seabands and ginger.

Any chance a midwife would be more sympathetic/able to judge just how severe this m/s is?

I'm thinking of seeing a homeopath as I have been reading good things about homeopathic medicine for severe m/s - so long as you can get the right thing prescribed.

Ditto to what you said about clothes. I am living in my nightclothes - I cannot stand anything around my waist - sometimes not even knickers

Boompi · 03/02/2005 17:15

Hi all - would just like to join all of you. I am due on 5th Sept and this is no 1. Also feeling sick and nauseous most of time Very excited though Going to deliver at the Whittington in North London but havent met midwives yet. Scan booked for 23/02/05. Look forward to chatting. Any one else in North London?

franch · 03/02/2005 17:37

Hi Boompi, congratulations!!!

Yes, I'm in N London - N1 - had the choice of Whittington or UCH and opted for the latter, but I think both are OK.

Beatie - probably worth talking to midwife - although AFAIK there really isn't anything they can do other than admit you to hosp and put you on a drip. There are days when I feel like that would be a relief - and then DH (a surgeon) says 'You're not going and getting a hospital-acquired infection!' And he's right, I hate hosp - hence my plans for a home birth. I'm lucky though to have him to keep an eye on me - he wouldn't let me fade away completely on him!

OP posts:
franch · 03/02/2005 17:38

Oh and Boompi, we have the same EDD! (Although mine's very rough as I had no LMP due to breastfeeding - it may change when I have my scan on the 18th)

OP posts:
Boompi · 03/02/2005 17:43

Thanks for welcome Franch! I'm in N6 so was offered Royal Free/UCH too. Ive heard mixed reports about all the London Hospitals so just went for the nearest geographically. My GP's midwives come from the Whittington so it makes sense. I work for the NHS so am very aware that the biggest difference is who is on duty on your big night!

franch · 03/02/2005 18:20

Well I can tell you from experience Boompi, you were right to avoid the Royal Free! We'll have to try for a meet-up sometime before the big day

OP posts:
Boompi · 03/02/2005 18:34

Definately. Im glad I didnt choose the Free!
