Hello everyone.

I've been away for a few days and it feels like i've missed out on so much.

How is everyone doing??

I'm well. i'm into my 17th week and i definitely have a bump now. Its gotten really big over the past couple of days. i look about 6 months pregnant, although they do say it shows alot earlier with the second. Has anyone started to feel their littlein kick/move yet. I'm getting definitely punchs.

Azure · 20/02/2005 20:09

Hi everyone. Wow Blossom2, 17 weeks already. Time seems to have speeded by. Still 13 weeks here. I thought I felt flutterings earlier on in the week but they seem to have gone, so it was probably just wind!

Beachyhead, best of luck with your scan and test tomorrow. BTW, the Fetal Medicine Centre doesn't accept credit cards, although Switch is ok.

KMS · 20/02/2005 23:58

Good luck for tomorrow Beachyhead.

Have had horrid Diarrhoea (TMI!) over the last couple of days. Seems to be a bug doing the rounds comes with a cold as well. This is the 3rd weekend in a row I have felt awful. One cold after another and now this as well. Sorry I know others have had much worse things (Kate100!! hope you are on the mend!) but am feeling very sorry for myself

welcome to the newbies

have had great news from my SIL. They are expecting their 2nd on 20th aug! waited till CVS results were in before telling anyone and all is well. (Their 1st has a cromosone prob) So my poor MIL wil be running around like a headless chicken in aug! me on 7th (and usually 2 wks late!) and her on 20th. (1st was 5 wks early though!) we could be in hosp together!

Now have a lovely fembrace belt to wear to try and help the SPD. time will tell, but they all press on your bump! gets very uncomfortable and no way can you sit down without undoing it! Not to be done in public!!!

wilbur · 21/02/2005 12:14

hub2dee - my dh hates blood stuff too, and when I was in labour with dd, the canula they had put in my hand (because I was having a vbac) came out during pushing and I covered myself and dh in blood before anyone noticed. It looked like a slaughterhouse. Still looking forward to seeing you little one arrive into the world ?

17 weeks today and still feeling ropey and having the odd gagging session in the mornings. Very, very bored with that now. Otherwise things are going well. I can feel the baby move a little bit now, which is lovely.

Hope everything goes okay today beachyhead.

jellybrain · 21/02/2005 12:42

Hi All
Have been reading but not posting the last week or so. Had a lovely few days at my mum's didn't cook a single thing and god only knows where she keeps the vacuum cleaner these days!
Everyone is getting more and more upbeat as time goes and its lovely to see new names still, Welcome all of you
Pg is fine 17 weeks this week GP appointment on Thursday which I expect will be fairly routine.
Now for my moan (sorry), was told last week that I am to be made redundant (1 week after letting the boss know!) . Will not be letting this rest, would you beleive I work for a charity of all things. Am considering going to an employment tribunal however would prefer to get it resolved amicably. Would you believe it was even suggested that once I had a new baby at home I wouldn't want to be worring about work and would of course have other priorites .
Better go don't want BP to be too high come Thursday!.
Will try and whinge less next post
Love to all you lumpy ladies and not so lumpy partners.
Jelly brain

jellybrain · 21/02/2005 12:43

Feel free to rename me Victoria Meldrew!
Sorry about the rant

Jelly Brain

Miaou · 21/02/2005 12:50

Feel free to rant, jellybrain, that's awful! Dh is always saying that pg women are in such a strong position and that the stupidest thing any boss could do is to sack/make redundant someone who is pg. (He is on the pg women's side, btw!). If you have the strength to follow it through, then go for it girl! I feel most on your behalf!

Azure · 21/02/2005 14:06

Jellybrain, sorry to hear you're going to be made redundant. I would definitely kick up a bit of a fuss about it, and agree that pregnant women are normally in a strong position. Comments from work like the one you mentioned won't do them any favours.

KMS sounds like you've had an unpleasant time lately. Great news about your SIL - how funny if you ended up having babies at the same time.

Wilbur, sorry but yuck yuck yuck. How awful.

josey · 21/02/2005 18:45

Hi everyone

blossom2 its nice to see you back was wondering where you had gone too. did you have a nice time?

Jellybrain that is a disgrace you should fight it, surely they will have to prove that they were planning making you redundant before you told them the news, which doesnt sound like it if they come out with comments like that!

KMS sorry your not feeling well and gosh your belt sounds lovely hope you dont need to take public transport if you cant sit down without taking it off or that could be interesting

well im all on edge and hyper tonight its scan day tomorrow yipee! at last, i dont think i will get a wink of sleep tonight. Have decided also we will tell ds tonight as i dont want everyone to know before him, and i dont trust my mil not to open her mouth. so i really hope he is ok about it all.

kate100 · 21/02/2005 19:15

Hi all, and welcome to all the new people. The MW came today and she is very concerned about me, she's even coming back to see me at home next week. Her main concern is that I've lost so much weight, a total of 16lbs now. I'm a bit worried now too, I was trying to jolly myself along through it before, but she's worried me a bit. Anyway, still a nice strong heartbeat and lots of wriggles which is good, she seemed to think it might be a girl and this has thrown DH completely, it's just not something he'd thought of, he'd always thought we'd have 2 boys, funny thing.

Still not feeling better, so back to the doctors tomorrow and still no work for me. The cough I've got is awful and is really testing my pelvic floor muscles. I feel like I've really strained my stomach muscles with all the coughing too.

DH and I were supposed to be going out tonight, for our wedding anniversary, he'd even taken 2 days holiday for us to spend some time together and he's sat and watched me in bed or curled up on the sofa, lucky man. I'm so frustrated, I want to be better, it just seems to be taking forever!! Thought things were supposed to be better in the second trimester, but I'm losing my sense of humour.

blossom2 · 21/02/2005 19:20

I went back to the UK for a couple of weeks - its was lovely to see family again. And everyone kept telling me i'd lost weight!! would have been nice if i wasn't showing so much.

Good luck with your scan tomorrow Josey and let us know how it goes.

Jellybean - isn't it illegal to make a pregnant woman redundant unless they are making other redundancies in the company??

I haven't felt baby move in a few days - should i be worried?
Its generally moved once a couple of days since 14/15 weeks and they have been big strong kicks/punchs from the inside.... not sure if i should start panicing...

Spacecadet · 21/02/2005 20:47

Try not to worry Blossom2, I worried sick if dd2 didnt move evry 5 mins and this time last year was at the epu every day!!they are still so small at this stage that its easy to miss the movements especially if you are busy. I rushed off to hospital when I was 17 weeks as I hadnt felt anything for a few days, had a scan and she was bouncing all over the place!

Miaou · 21/02/2005 20:48

Woo hoo! I had my first kick today! What a lovely feeling.

colinsmommy · 21/02/2005 21:52

Jellybrain--how totally awful. Good for you for doing something about it.

Eulalia · 22/02/2005 09:50

Kate - sorry to hear you are still feeling poorly but it sounds like baby is doing OK which is the main thing for the moment I suppose. This cold weather won't be helping much but Spring isn't far off.

Good luck with your scan josey.

KMS - get well soon.

jellybrain - sounds like you've got plenty of grounds to go to a tribunal.

Well I am 17 weeks also, can't believe it and feel fine. My bump is still fairly small and I sometimes forget as I don't have any other symptoms apart from the odd small kick that is.

Dazie · 22/02/2005 10:04

Hi everyone
Kate - get well soon things will pick up soon im sure!!
Josey - hope all goes well at your scan very exciting!! How did ds react to the news?? My son was fine really excited about a new edition but does not want a girl no no no!!!
jellybrain - your boss was very sneaky he must have known last week about the redundancies, try not to get too stressed out about it!!!

Ive now reached the 15 week mark not really looking or feeling pregnant feel a bit weepy but other than that everything is fine just waiting for my next scan which seems like miles away I havent heard from the hospital yet so I dont even have a date set in my mind very frustrating!!

jellybrain · 22/02/2005 11:01

Hi Everyone
Thanks for your support. Am a bit more on the ball than the boss would give me credit for and have got copies of Xec meeting minutes going back several months (no mention of redundancies!) Also emailed memebers of the committee who were horrified that this was being considered. Mention of compensation is floating, it will have to be good for them to avoid the tribunal!
17 weeks and little on is begining to wriggle. No visible movement yet, DS1 and DS2 are intrigued by this particular idea my neice told them about feeling and watching her mummy's baby moving at half term(SIL is due 1st April)

Twiga · 22/02/2005 11:08

Jellybrain, things aare sounding more positive re: work, really sneaky move to pull on you though . Hope you manage to get it all settled with minimum upset for yourself.

KMS, lovely news about your SIL!

Kate, sorry to hear you're still not feeling great, glad all is well with the little un, sounds like your MW is on the ball.

All the best for your scan today Josey !

Things fine here, time seems to be moving really slowly - 13 weeks tomorrow. Another 8 weeks before my next scan, looking fwd to feeling those first wee movements although that feels like an age away too. Start the first of my 6 days on at work this afternoon - exhausted just thinking about it!

beachyhead · 22/02/2005 13:09

Right, finally back in work and caught up with all the news - so nice to see new people on here still arriving......

Had my combined test at the Fetal Research Centre yesterday and came back with odds of 1 : 1395 so needless to say I am so delighted that we don't have to do CVS or amnio. The scan there is great - we heard the heartbeat, had a doppler scan of the bloodflow in the umbilical cord, and she guessed it was a girl - which is great (as that's what I thought it was all along)

So we finally told dd and ds (7 and 3) last night and dd has gone to tell her class today!!!!!
Back to Thomas' today to see the consultant to get the vitamins for the potential pre-eclampsia, so I feel I have a lovely 7/8 weeks free now before any more worries, so I am going to settle down and start to enjoy it.

Am not going to tell work until next week or the week after.

Jellybrain - any redudancy after notification of pregnancy is unfair dismissal I think.......I'll try to find the website on it - we have just had a seminar here at work on it.

13 weeks and 3 days - yippee -

Wilbur - yes, I am going to have it at Tommy's - it will be a C-Section. I live in Greenwich, so as long as it is not rush hour, should be OK!!!!

Azure · 22/02/2005 13:27

Beachyhead, I'm so very pleased to hear your news - what a massive load off your mind.

kate100 · 22/02/2005 14:25

I've been back to the doctor's today and she says that the infection has nearly gone. She's told me to stay of work for another week, I'm sure I'll be very popular, but I don't care my baby is more important. I'm starting to feel a bit more positive now, I thought I was never going to feel beter. Thanks for all your support during this rough time for me and my baby.

OOh it's snowing again, I hope there is a big downpour tonight so we can take DS out in the snow for the first time. I'm sure evryone up in Scotland will think I'm mad, but you get snow all the time and it doesn't snow often in the Midlands.

Beachyhead, I lived in Greenwich for a few years after I graduated. It was the first place that DH and I lived together, so lots of happy memories.

Dazie · 22/02/2005 14:49

great news beachyhead glad it all went ok and a little girl how wonderful!!!

Good news from you to kate100 enjoy the rest of your time off!! We have had a little snow here in Bristol, ds is desperate to go on his sledge so I hope it settles!!!

Miaou · 22/02/2005 19:04

Kate, really glad you are continuing to recover - keep your feet up and make the most of the rest of this week!

blossom2 · 22/02/2005 19:40

Josey - how did your scan go today??

josey · 22/02/2005 19:48

scan was amazing what a performer was moving around everywhere so we could see everything apart from when it moved into a front shot baby put its hands down to cover his/her modesty haha,
it was so different to DS as he was sound asleep and they couldnt wake him up so think im still in happy shock {grin]
They have moved my dates about a bit for the 27th to 30th then to th 1st sep but as they think im likely to have a section it will be 27th the nurse and girl that did the scan said my what a big looking baby argh! so did my mil but hey what does she know

kate 100 im so sorry you are so down and poorly i hope that you will get lots of support from your mw and doc not to mention dh thoughts are with you
