auntyspan · 27/06/2008 22:12

Come on I can't be the ONLY one!!! I got my BFP this morning - I think I'm due around the 12th March...

No real symptoms yet other than slightly weary this afternoon, and quite bad backache.

Not too hopeful JUST yet as very early days and had a m/c last year. Already have a DD (2.5)

Don't leave me here on my own too long!!

Lily, I read that horse riding should be given up when pregnant, see this article, although it does say its more critical in more advanced pregnancy.

bythepowerofgreyskull · 23/07/2008 15:23

sorry just saw this, and Calsworld my friend works for a stud farm in Newmarket, she rode everyday for her job until she was 8,5 months pregnant and she only stopped because her boss was worried about her. Her midwife was fine about it.

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/07/2008 16:22

I think the horse riding thing all comes down to what level of risk you are comfortable with tbh. Some women like to avoid all alcohol, banned foods, caffine etc, many others are happy to compromise (i.e a little bit of anything occassionally isn't going to hurt). It really just depends on what you think are reasonable risks. I think horse riding could potentially be quite dangerous but if its an integral part of your life then maybe it is not viable to give up, only you can answer that.

Boobz · 23/07/2008 16:50

Sorry Spaghetti.

Mandy73 · 23/07/2008 17:50

So sorry Spaghettiarms .

Boobz · 23/07/2008 19:07

Out of curiosity (and you can tell me to bugger off), but how often do you all have sex with your other halves? has is it gone down now you are pregnant?

Me and my bloke have been together for 7 years, and for the first 5 or so, we would have sex 5 or 6 times a week. This then fell to 3 or 4, and now that I'm pregnant it has gone down to 2 (sat and sun!)

He's feeling miffed that he's not getting enough. I'm knackered, and know it will get worse when a baby arrives!

calsworld · 23/07/2008 20:02

greyskull - I'm absolutely inclined to agree, was just quoting an article I read, I guess if you're not doing it regularly (therefore a novice) it might not be such a good idea to start!

Playing, I'm with you, I think a little bit of what you fancy does the world of good, and that being relaxed (i.e. not stressed as opposed to doing anything you fancy!) throughout pregnancy
is probably one of the most important things. I had the odd glass of wine here and there when I was feeling deprived and anticipate it will be the same this time around .

Although when I got out of hospital after DS was born, my wonderful DH did make me a dinner of pate on toast, followed by a rare steak, then brie & stilton with biscuits, all washed down with a glass of red .

calsworld · 23/07/2008 20:06

Oh sorry playing, just re-read and you didn't actually say that you would do a little bit of whatever - just that it depended on individual .

Pregnancy brain !

NattyPlusTwo · 23/07/2008 22:03

right now, maybe you lot can settle an arguement for me.
i currently carry my daughter in a sling for short periods of time when my son asks to have a sit in the pushchair if he is tired. it is rarely for more than an hour at a time, unless he falls asleep then it can be 2.
i was told by someone yesterday that i was being selfish and irrsponsible to carry her as it could hurt my unborn baby.
now my feeling on it is that the baby is as small as a grain of rice, and the lowest point of my daughters weight sits around the bottom of my ribs.
that leaves about 2 inches between baby and my bean... so therefore why would it harm the baby any more than the usual carrying, lifting and other day to day things we do as mothers?
fair enough when i start showing.. but now?
thoughts ladies?

twocutedarlings · 23/07/2008 22:03

Boobz At the moment i feel pretty much like you, im knackered and carnt be arsed if im totally honest.

However in my last 2 pregnancys we have been at it like rabbits come the second trimester i just couldnt get enough LOL.

Tailed off abit 3rd trimester, until the later end, when i decided it was time the baby was evicted.

Afterwards it took us a while to get back into the swing off things, we were both knackered then LOL. We had to work at it a little (but had lots of fun doin so) it is harder, but i found my DHs love for me changed when we had our first, for the first couple of mths he would just look at me with such admiration (??sp), ....enough to make you sick init..i know!! (like we need any help) but thats my DH for you .

Anyway goodnight all, sleep well xxx

twocutedarlings · 23/07/2008 22:11

Bloody hell Natty, tell em to keep their noses out!!

DD1 was 17mths when i was pg with DD2, i would carry her round in a sling on my shoulders.........whatever!! I did this for as long i felt i could tbh.

As far as i remember, there is no evidence to say the women shouldnt carry extra weight during pregnancy.

However 2 hours does sound like a long time, think of your poor back, do you have a buggy board?? if you dont, i can highly recommend one, mine was a life safer at times.

NattyPlusTwo · 23/07/2008 22:16

unfortunatly he will not sit on one, we have tried several different types.. to no avail.
granted when it was two hours i did go to a cafe, and sit down with her as my back was hurting.
i just really dont want to fork out for a double, when i only need it for a very small amount of the time, and cannot get on a bus with one.
so whats my options really?

Boobz · 23/07/2008 22:41

TCD -- looking forward to second trimester! Hubby even more so, I imagine.

livismum · 23/07/2008 22:47

Hello all! think i'm due 15th March which is 2 days after DD will be 4! Been trying for 2nd for a year but hubby works nights so its a miracle anyways!

Had a mc at 6 weeks in feb so counting every day, boobs are massive but havin twinges and cramps, DD still likes to be picked up at times trying not too without seeming mean! Also trying to take things easy at work without people noticing alhough already had people ask! Clothes are also feelin tight which dednt happen for ages with DD!

Fingers and toes crossed

MKG · 23/07/2008 23:10

Boobz-We have sex, but we never had sex that often. Before ds1 it was like crazy, but after that I have had no sex drive. since ds2 we laugh at the idea of sex. We maybe have sex once a month, and the longest we've gone is 6 months. I don't really have much of a sex drive while pregnant, I'd pretty much rather watch a good movie.

Natty--I still throw my 30 pound ds around. The way I figure it is that I can't stop my life and stop taking care of my kids because I'm pregnant. Maybe later when I have a massive bump, but for now life as usual. Of course I'm not one of those "sacred vessel" pregnant women.

MKG · 23/07/2008 23:10

Welcome Livismum!

Tapster · 23/07/2008 23:12

I have a huge bump at nearly 6 weeks and I couldn't do up my shorts by the end of the day. I showed early with my first but honestly I look 20 weeks pregnant. I am very short at 5ft and have a short body but there is no way I can't tell people I'm pregnant until I'm 12 weeks. I haven't gained any weight yet despite the bump.

Took out all my maternity clothes and washed and dried them today. Have a wedding to go to in 3 weeks - what am I going to wear and how am I going to hide it? Will I have to hibernate for the next 6 weeks from friends and family?

Worried it could be twins...

twocutedarlings · 24/07/2008 08:25

Natty I would just carry on doing what you doing tbh, im sure you know your own limit.

Totally agree about the double buggy, i hated mine!! they should come with a health warning.

If you still have your buggy board, maybe keep trying your DS on it, DD1 used to call it her skate board.

How will your DD be when DC3 arrives?

Congrats & Welcome Livismum I will add you to the list.

Tapster How many weeks will you be for the wedding?

Well ive got a manic Morning today, ive got numerous phone calls to make, the car to take to garage for a service and then after all that theres playgroup!

Natty I agree that your friends are being daft about the carrying / slinging thing. If you were 6 months pg and your DD was kicking your tummy, maybe I could see their point, but right now all I think is I hope your back is OK!

and Tapster I am so in the same boat - including the wedding to go to. I'm going to wear a dress I got from Next a few weeks ago - it is a bit empire line (ties under the boobs) and quite floaty. If you like blue, flowery and floaty I totally recommend it (wasn't too expensive either). Either people will assume I'm pg, or they'll assume everyone looks pg in empire line dresses and I can't be! I also worry about twins, probably because I was just about to start on Clomid, so I was having dreams about my (imaginary) 'fertility drug twins' for weeks!

livismum · 24/07/2008 09:14

Next are in sale at mo (i work there) quite a few dresses i bought a maxi one for £9 just in case i go anywhere! thank god for the floaty fashion at the mo!

took my trs off last night and my tummy seemed to jump out! wouldnt it be nice to find you were further on than you thought?! i didnt show for ages with my first but im only little too, not going to be ale to hide for too long amazed i havent been rumbled by now!

Boobz · 24/07/2008 09:21

Well I'm off to the Secret Garden Party festival from today until Sunday, so won't be around to post like the addicted Mumsnetter I have become in my short pregnancy!

We booked this before we knew so now I am going to have to do the earthy / organic festival experience, with no booze, no nothing! My friends are going and I know there is little chance of me keeping up the "I'm on antibiotics" line all weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend girls - looking forward to getting back and catching up on the gossip.

Oh, I got my letter from the MW, I am booked in to see her August 12th. Bring it on!

Morning Ladies - isn't it getting busy!!

I think the sling thing is entirely up to you natty you'll know your own limits - I think 'selfish and irresponsible' is probably a little harsh - are they good friends?!

Boobz we have a great sex life but at the moment I'm much too knackered... DH understands thankfully as it was exactly the same when I was pg with DD. Everything gets better when you hit 12 / 13 weeks so tell him to hang on!!

I'm in awe ladies - I couldn't not tell work. We are a very small office (4 ladies) and we're quite close which I'm sure helped. It's meant I've been able to sneak off for a quick nap in the side office!

I'm def getting bigger already, DH noticed and my jeans are cutting into my stomach already. I'm appalled that I've put weight on so far, I've spent all year losing weight for my wedding day (end of May) and now it seems I'm going to pile it all again

Welcome Hedgewitch and Livismum,

Cal - I am actually in the a little bit of what you fancy occassional does no harm camp, I was just trying to be even handed about my response!

Umm sex, thats an interesting one. DH and and I have been together 10 years and naturally its declined over the years. I would say now the sex is probably about 3 times a week, the odd week a bit more, the odd week a bit less. However, since pg I have really not been that interested. I have been going to bed much earlier than DH and often feel sick so am really not in the mood. Its hard to feel sexy when you are suffering from nausea! I can honstly say since we got pg we are struggling to make once a week at the moment .
