auntyspan · 27/06/2008 22:12

Come on I can't be the ONLY one!!! I got my BFP this morning - I think I'm due around the 12th March...

No real symptoms yet other than slightly weary this afternoon, and quite bad backache.

Not too hopeful JUST yet as very early days and had a m/c last year. Already have a DD (2.5)

Don't leave me here on my own too long!!

Hi Lily,

I had a miscarriage in May this year, and so yes, I've been thinking about it too. Try not to worry, because chances are you won't have one, I hope not anyway... It is difficult though, especially as people on this thread have had one. You really must try not to worry - what will be will be, and worrying about it won't be doing you or the baby any good.

How many weeks are you?

Boobz · 22/07/2008 22:51

I worry about it too. Not often, but enough to catch my breath sometimes.

Can't wait till I get the all clear.

MKG · 23/07/2008 00:38

I worry about it too. I had one in January and right now the only way I know I'm pregnant is by the copious amounts of discharge I'm getting. I'm constantly running to the toilet to check myself.

However having my miscarriage was the biggest blessing in my life. I look at my children now and realize what little miracles they truly are, and how special a healthy pregnancy and birth really are. I took for granted all that before. I will never moan about pregnancy again. My miscarriage also solidified in me the feeling that two children weren't enough. Cruz was 8 months old at the time and when I found out I was pregnant I freaked and didn't think I could handle it. When I miscarried I realized that I did want more children sooner rather than later.

MavisGrind · 23/07/2008 05:15

Hello all, night shift reporting in!

I too worry about miscarriage as I had one about 5 years ago. Went on to have a perfectly straightforward pregnancy with ds but still, can't stop worrying about it...

DH says he won't get excited until at least 12 weeks however I say you have to keep positive until it turns bad!

Emma how rude of your colleague. Still, try not to get too wound up by her, you'll have the lovely baby at the end of it and she'll be looking for someone else to stalk in the car park

Off to eat more stem ginger, feel rather sicky...

WorzselMummage · 23/07/2008 08:59

I am worried about miscarriages i had 2 8 week miscarriages a few years ago and a 13 week mmc in feb this year.

Just got to keep my finges crossed i think !

winemakesmummyclever · 23/07/2008 09:20

Morning everyone,

I think the worry about mc is at the back of everyone's mind. It is scary to see just how many people have been through a mc, but it is best to remain positive like Mavis says.

I had a mmc in August last year it am quite frankly bricking myself about the fact that I am pg again coming up to the "anniversary". I just keep reminding myself that I am throwing up constantly because I have a healthy baby growing inside me, so things are progressing fine.

Hope you have a better day today MKG. You are right about treasuring the children you already have.

Emma - buy a blank sun screen (like you get for kiddies) and tippex "bugger off, I'm sleeping" on it. She'll soon get the message

twocutedarlings · 23/07/2008 09:20

Morning Girls, Hope your all well !!

Sorry ive not been on this thread for a couple of days, just thought id check in for an update.

Lobster im so sorry for your loss, i hope your ok, and please check in and lest us now how your doing, im really please to hear that you are and feel well supported through this traumatic time, good luck xxxxx

calsworld Welcome and Congrats
I also had a 26mth age gap between my two girls (they are now 5&3), i found my pg with DD2 much harder than DD1 also, its tuff running around after a toddler all day, if its any help the second trimaster was much easier .

monkeybumsmum Congrats, hope you sickness eases soon.

Emma What aload of rotters eh ?? fingers crossed youll get a nice kip today.

Mandy Have you spoken to anyone about your concerns?? hopfully they will support you decision. but do try and keep an open mind, giving birth to your first child can be really scary, but it can also feel extremely enpowering.

We ive been up for alot of the night!! DD2 has a sicky bug , she look terrible this morning, the poor love(abit like me LOL ) so i think i will be spending most of my day curled up on the sofa with her, i only hope that DD1 will be ok to entertain herself for a while .

Im also hoping for a planned home birth with this littleone, my midwife has adviced me to as DD2 was an unplanned homebirth, she was delivered by paramedics after a 2.5 hour labour.

auntyspan · 23/07/2008 09:21

Morning everyone.

I'm worried about m/c too as I had one a couple of years ago, when DD was 4 months old - was b/f and didn't know I was ovulating . Was an early one though and as I was petrified about being pg again it wasn't too traumatic, relatively speaking.

What will be will be I guess!!

Having said that I'm desperate to get the first trimester over with so I a) feel better and b) can start feeling more excited!

OP posts:
Boobz · 23/07/2008 09:28

Man there have been a lot of m/c's out there, eh? I really didn't know it was that common.

I am looking into home birth now. Never thought I would say that, for my first, but am thinking it's the way to go now. Husband is on board - thinks it's the best idea I've ever had, showing him all the articles and research I've done!

CaptainKarvol · 23/07/2008 09:41

Hi all, it is oddly comforting that so many of you are worrying about m/c - makes me feel less of an oddity, because I am terrified of it. I'm relatively old (37) and although I've never had a m/c it has been a long long road to conception this time, and my big fear is that I will m/c on my 'last chance' of a baby. Anyway, what will be will be as you so rightly say, but it's nice to know I'm in good worrying company

I don't know what kind of birth I want (assuming I make it that far) - home birth sounds lovely, but I was ambulanced into hospital with pre-eclampsia last time, so I may be too high a risk...

winemakesmummyclever · 23/07/2008 10:00

twocutedarlings hope your dd is feeling better soon. My ds was vomiting like something out of a horror film the other night, and that set me off again. Poor dh - he didn't know what had hit him (quite literally . . ). Cuddles on the sofa sounds like the best thing for you both.

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/07/2008 10:04

Morning,

Personally I think anyone who has either had a mc or spends far too much time on MN is always worried about a mc. I actually think that we see so much of it on MN cos it is often the peope with problems who post, people with no problems don't tend to post as much. I am refusing to think of my little bean as a baby right now becuase I am aware that it is still early days. I am trying to celebrate the fact I am pg and what will be will be, I can't do anything to change that. Odds are everything will be fine but you cannot deny the possibilty that it might not be, so I am taking things a week at a time.

That also means that I am trying not to think too much about the birth. However, I def lean towards the home birth option. I know I would prefer to be in my own home, hospitals always put me on edge, but I think it will come down to how supportive the mw's are and of course whether I remain low risk enough. As far as I see it, our local mw lead birthing centre in our town is nice, the mw proudly gave me a tour last week. They have done everything they can to make it look more home like (they still can't get away from the fact its a hospital though) but if something went wrong you would still have to be transfered to a big hospital so it still has all the disadvantages of a home birth with not as many benefits, so I think I would rather just stay at home. I know they can't be anti home birth as she told me since april they have had 40 births in the centre and 10 home births. We shall see.

Mandy73 · 23/07/2008 10:19

Hi there,

Twocutedarlings thank you, will definitely raise my issues with midwife at booking appt. You take it easy today!

I hope everyone has a good day.

lilymolly · 23/07/2008 11:14

oh its interesting that everyone else is so worried.
And that it is also so common- but appreciate we are on a pregnancy/parenting forum so will be more likely to be mentioned giving a false high rate of mc iyswim
Keep thinking about all the millions of people in the world whose mothers clearly did not miscarry!
I am sure I did not feel like this last time with dd.
As I said earlier I am waking up each day feeling more and more pregnant- the sickness arrived this morning and I am off my food in a big way- scan not until a few weeks so a bit of a wait

Another question any horse riders out there.......are you still riding? I feel so crap at the moment I have no energy to ride- But I would like to think that when I am feeling better I will get back into the saddle.

MKG · 23/07/2008 13:04

lilymolly--I think riding is off limits during pregnancy. Don't know the medical reasoning behind it though.

GYo · 23/07/2008 13:12

Hi everyone - sorry I've been a bit quiet for a while

Hi there Cals great to see you here

Playing you are absolutely right re MN and seeing so much MC. Since you said something similar on the other thread its really helped me put it in perpective. Thanks

Need to do proper catchup tonight I think..

calsworld · 23/07/2008 13:52

Afternoon all, just a quick post from me as a bit pushed for time,

I'm still concerned about a MC despite not having experienced one before, in fact, I think most of the concern is carried by DH (don't know why) and I share it because its hard to ignore.

I am sooooooooooooooo tired again today, am really struggling to keep my eyes open, boss has asked me what's wrong a few times now....christ knows how i'll make it to twelve weeks. Is it too early to be feeling like I need to let my belt out (5/6 weeks)?! I really have no idea how far along I am , do you think I could get an early scan based on that fact - only joking, I know there are serious reasons people need those appts.

I haven't done booking in yet, think I'll sneak a call to the doctors later just to find out what the plan is...I really can't remember from last time!

emma2617 · 23/07/2008 13:53

Afternoon ladies!! Thanks for your agreement about the rotters I work with!!! I now have another trauma...lol! I am off work today because I still have a wheeze and tight chestedness (is that a word?!) and didn't get much sleep last night!! Since becoming pg my childhood asthma seems to have returned with me needing to use my inhaler at least twice a day...but since my memory is also shot now that I'm pg, I left it at work yesterday! So I sat wheezing at home for 3 hours last night but it wasn't too bad, then I went to bed and it got worse!! Had to ring my work and ask the night security if I could pop in, then drive to my office (12 miles away) at 1am to get my inhaler, by which point I was very panicky!! Now I can't shift this wheeze, probably because I sat for a good 5 hours not doing anything about not being able to breathe properly!!!

As everyone keeps reminding me...I am really not an advert for pregnancy!! Oh well!!

As for miscarriages...I too am petrified!! But I only tend to think about tit when I have twinges/cramps!

On top of all that...my day does get worse!! We had applied for a new house, a newly refurbished 3 bed, it was gorgeous and we even got the landlord to allow the cats!! But the letting agent rang me today to say that the landlord has decided to move back in to the property so mow I have to go look at another house tonight on my own (as DP is still in Ireland!) and make a decision without him seeing the house!

Sorry for the essay...I needed to rant!!!!

Hope everyone is well today

spaghettiarms · 23/07/2008 13:55

calsworld · 23/07/2008 14:41

SA - Hope my message didn't come across as insensitive re TTC boards, its just that there are loads of women on there who have been trying for a long time and then had to go through what you are now, so thought you might find it helpful when the time is right.

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/07/2008 14:50

Spaghettiarms - I am so sorry.

GYo - you are welcome

Emma - sorry you're having such a rough time at the moment. I know what you mean about the asthma. ihad childhood asthma which i gre out of but I am finding myself a bit asthmaery () at the moment. Not bad enough to do anything about it but will need to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse go to te gp.

Lily - haven't ridden for a few years so can't really answer you question. Personally I wouldn't want to take the risk of riding when pg, but I am sure there are people who do.
