Come on I can't be the ONLY one!!! I got my BFP this morning - I think I'm due around the 12th March...

No real symptoms yet other than slightly weary this afternoon, and quite bad backache.

Not too hopeful JUST yet as very early days and had a m/c last year. Already have a DD (2.5)

Don't leave me here on my own too long!!

Morning all,

Congratulations to everyone who has recently joined!

No proper morning sickness yet, although def have nausea again. Also feel really really tired and quite emotional.

Told my boss just a min ago. He was actually really nice, said he had been quite worried about me as I had not been myself and was glad I told him what was going on. Decided I couldn't hide it anymore, I am so shit at my job at the moment. Not on top of anything at all, everything seems to take twice as long and I've made a couple of silly mistakes, all so unlike me. All I want to do is crawl into a corner and go to sleep!

Going to see the midwife today so I am really excited! Offically 7 weeks today, although of course I am more like 6 1/2 weeks. Beginning to sink in that this might actually be real!

MollieMooma · 16/07/2008 12:01

Hello, welcome and congratulations to all the newbies.

Fruity Stop teasing us with pictures of food you naughty girl!
Lobster So pleased you've passed your date of last m/c, I'm sure that this will be an exceptionally sticky bean

Sorry to hear that more people are not getting support from parents, what is wrong with these people! Well even if they are not pleased for you, we all are and sending your virtual hugs!

Well 6 weeks today, hardly slept last night for worrying about my scan on tuesday, so very very tired anyway, so feeling even worse today. I interviewed a customer this morning who didn't smell too good and had to make an excuse to go to the loo to retch halfway through the interview oops
But no proper MS to talk of.Emma So sorry to hear about your M/S but unfortunately it hasn't stopped me wanting it, what a pyscho I must be

MKG Sounds like you had an exciting time with your brownout (glad someone asked what that was!)

Playingthe9monthwait · 16/07/2008 12:40

Hi Mollie. Fingers crossed for you everything will be ok with the scan.

GYo · 16/07/2008 12:50

Hi
Anyone on here booked a private early scan as they werent provided by their local HA?

is it worth while?

Im quite keen on this but not sure how to go about it other than search online for somewhere that does it.

MollieMooma · 16/07/2008 12:55

Playing Thanks x Glad to hear your boss took your news so well, I know what you mean about wanting to crawl into a corner for a nap, I feel like I haven't slept for a week!

Playingthe9monthwait · 16/07/2008 13:03

Hi Gyo, I am 90% certain I will. I see the midwife today so I want to ask about scans, check when I will get mine. If its 16 weeks as a few people have told me then I will def book an earlier private scan. If its 12 weeks then tbh I am still tempted just for peace of mind. Deige (on our ttc thread) mmc today has really upset me. Firstly because I am so sorry for her but also because the baby stopped growing at 7 1/2 weeks and she didn't get any sign till 10 weeks. That just seems awful to me.

Mollie - yes I was surprised, no one has ever taken Maternity leave here so I thought he might be a but annoyed (and maybe he secretly was) but he certainly didn't show it.

GYo · 16/07/2008 13:20

Hi Playing

Likewise re the MC on the other thread. Ive been walking round in a daze. I know there is nothing that you can do about it - if its going to happen its probably for a reason but its sad. Really need to try not to worry though as it cant help.

Good luck with the MWife, I am sure it will be a reassurance. Let me know what she says re private early scans.

Take care

dinny · 16/07/2008 13:42

hi everyone - welcome to all the newbies too, congrats!

well, am feeling pretty sick a lot of the time - it comes and goes, and is AWFUL when am driving. dreading doing my late shift tomorrow

just got scan appointment thtough - August 28th for nuchal and dating! seems ages! got two holidays booked before then!

hey, just seen Trinny and Susannah filming on our village green, Trinny is GORGEOUS, soooo tall

Playingthe9monthwait · 16/07/2008 13:58

Dinny - 2 holidays . Certainly can't afford to go on holiday now, didn't expect to get pg so soon!!

dinny · 16/07/2008 14:01

well, one IS a proper hol booked before pregnancy (am terrified as hate flying though and can't take drugs on plane for obvious reasosn!)

and the other one is the rest of the summer hols at my parents' place on the Isles of Scilly - then back fr scan, eek!

emma2617 · 16/07/2008 14:08

dinny I could do with a holiday right now!!

Although...I haven't felt this good in the afternoon for a while!! I had a 50min nap in my car at lunch...I feel fab!! Plus the MS has worn off all is good in my little world...for the moment anyway!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 16/07/2008 14:26

Still, its really nice to have the break!

Emma - I really wish I could go and have a nap, I am so tired now.

dinny · 16/07/2008 14:43

are you at work, P?

you know they are legally obliged to provide you with suitable rest area if pg? and rest breaks....

MollieMooma · 16/07/2008 15:06

Emma at lunchtime nap!

emma2617 · 16/07/2008 15:21

mollie I know...it was fabulous!! Big Duvet and feather pillow...for 50 whole minutes!! I feel so much better for it! I will still end up having a sleep when I get home and then sleeping for 8/9 hours tonight...but what the hell...im pg, its allowed!! Apart from the MS the fatigue is my worst symptom by far, it has driven me to tears on a couple of occasions!

MollieMooma · 16/07/2008 15:27

Stop teasing me Emma your so naughty! I'm trying to talk everyone into letting me finish at 4.30pm tonight instead of 5pm so I can nap on my sofa all night!

emma2617 · 16/07/2008 15:32

Mollie Haha!! Fortunately DP started a new job where we can both travel in together so I changed my shift from 8.00-4.30 to 8.30-5 so I at least get a bit more of a lie in!!

We need to go to supermarket to get some kitten food, then after that I will take up residence on the sofa...again with duvet and pillow...me and my duvet and pillow have become inseparabale!!

And if they take a vote for you leaving early...I vote yes!!!!

MollieMooma · 16/07/2008 16:00

Thanks Emma they must have been listening to you cos they said I can go!

firstduemarch09 · 16/07/2008 16:35

Whoo hoo! I've just booked ante natal classes!! For 8th Jan to 19th Feb! How real!

Playingthe9monthwait · 16/07/2008 16:40

Hi Dinny - yes I am at work.

I am well aware what work are obligated to do, they aren't as no one has gone been pg here before but thats not my fault and I will soon educate them . We do have a meeting room that I can always use to have a break in if I needed to I suppose. The thing is we are a small company, there are 4 of us up stairs in the office, 2 in the warehouse and 2 sales guys who come in once a month (they work from home) and the sales manger (my boss) who comess in twice a week. So basically its really the 4 of us upstairs, so we dont have the facilities of a big company.

I get in at 8.30 (well generally 8:45 but whos counting ) and pretty much sit at my desk till I leave which is technically 5 but for me its normally more like 6-6.30. Its me thats going to have to change, I will have to start leaving on time (I have pretty much this week) and I should probably take my lunch break. I suppose I am going to have to get used to not being able to work as hard or as long as I am used to, its more habit then anything else.

Also I always have far too much work and not enough time to do it in, somethign I think that may have to change. I am basically, Marketing and Advertising Manager/Assistant/Dogsbody, Trade Show Manager/Co-ordinator and Sales Support Manager/Executive/Administrator. That means I do everything from organising marketing campaigns, designing catalogue pages, writing editorials for trade press, organising (and attending) trade shows, writing quotations, sending samples, completing buying contracts, supporting the sales managers as well as all the shitty but essential sales support admin. There is so much going on that its hard to stay on top of things when you are feeling well, let alone at the moment! I think things are going to have to change a bit round here!

First due - booking classes, now thats brave!!!

MKG · 16/07/2008 16:59

Good morning. Well I don't even know what it is. I was up all night with my dog who is now at the animal hospital.

My life is so freakin' exciting.

Playing- it sounds like you need to cut back at work a little. But who knows, in a few weeks you may feel fine.

I have to think about how long I'm going to work before taking maternity leave. I get 12 weeks and my company will give me full pay for 6. I've never made it to 40 weeks so was thinking of going up to 39 weeks. But then I'm happy to go into labor at work. It's 5 minutes away from the hospital, so really is the best place for me to be.
I don't really want to be at home when I go into labor as I had to drive myself last time.

twocutedarlings · 16/07/2008 17:08

Well what a shitty/crappy afternoon ive had !!! just been to collected DD1 from school and returned to the car to find a flat tyre , the car dosent have a spare?? it has a stupid crappy tin of form AAAARRRHHH I can manage to change a tyre, just about LOL, but a tin of FORM!! FGS what all that about!! Thankfully one of the Dads came to my saviour and sorted the form thingy out, but the bleeding tyre was still going down . Id forgot to pick my handbag up on the way out, id got NO phone NO money (DD1s school is 5 miles from home btw) Thankfully the hero Dad gave us all a lift home, DH is off to sort it out after dinner.

Take it easy playing you need to be taking good care of yourself at the moment.......i know easier said than done

Im now a full time stay at home mum, i never returned to work after having DD1. I worked over 50 hours over 6 days a week right upto my due date with her as i didnt want to leave my boss in limbo (i worked for a national company by the way). I didnt get any special thanks for it, i was constantly knackered. I had originally planned on returning but after the way i was treated i decided not to bother.

Playingthe9monthwait · 16/07/2008 17:15

Oh don't get me wrong, if I have to cut down I will, my health is more important then my job. Oh and I also live 1 mile away from work so that helps!

MKG - 12 weeks Mat leave. OMG thats low. Is that normal in the states? I get no enhanced mat leave at all but of course get the stat min of 6 weeks at 90% pay then 33 weeks at £117 a week.

MKG · 16/07/2008 17:38

playing--12 weeks is the law, but some companies have more. If I were still teaching I could have up to 2 years, depending on the district. But 12 weeks is the minimum. After ds1 I went back to work when he was a month. I quit when he was 4 months though and didn't go back until ds2 was 3 months.

The laws for breastfeeding are good though. Legally my job needs to provide me the space and the time to pump. And I could have the baby brought to me if I wanted.

I only work 4 days a week and I work nights and dh works days, so the boys are only with my sil or mom (who watch them) for a few hours.

I really like my situation though. I see my boys bonding with their cousins and other aunts and uncles as my sil's house is the center of family activity so there are always kids around for them to play with. My mom loves being with them because my sister lives 12 hours drive away so she never sees my niece and nephew. She loves telling people she see's her grandkids whenever she wants. She's their only grandparent as my mil lives in Mexico and has only seen ds1 once when he was 6 months old.

So that is my situation.

MKG · 16/07/2008 17:40

Oh I need to add that our maternity leave doesn't involve any payment and that is to be decided by the company a person works for, so most people can't afford to take longer.
