Come on I can't be the ONLY one!!! I got my BFP this morning - I think I'm due around the 12th March...

No real symptoms yet other than slightly weary this afternoon, and quite bad backache.

Not too hopeful JUST yet as very early days and had a m/c last year. Already have a DD (2.5)

Don't leave me here on my own too long!!

Hi there,

This looks like a really nice place, can I join please? Still in (happy) shock, got my 1st BFP ever about an hour ago after TTC #1 for 11 cycles. Just been lolling around the house murmering "OMG, OMG..."

Morning Everyone.

Mandy - welcome. There is a list floating around somewhere so feel free to add yourself. This will (hopefully) be my first child as well so I am getting excited now.

Was very nearly sick this morning cleaning my teeth which wasn't fun but seems to be a bit better now. Am finding food quite good and controlling the nausea so far, tend to only get in when my stomach is empty or I am extremely tired. Mind you, still plenty of time for it to develop into full blown morning sickess!

Hows everyone feeling this morning?

Mandy73 · 11/07/2008 09:40

Thanks Playingthe9monthwait! Sorry to hear about the nausea, hope it settles.

Good morning from across the pond.

Went car shopping last night and I think I found some possibilities for a new one, as the other died on Sunday. I am looking for something cheap, low-mileage and fits 3 car seats, that isn't a gas guzzler.

MKG · 11/07/2008 13:48

OH an welcome Mandy! Congratulations!

That walking around saying OMG doesn't stop after the first pregnancy. I did that with ds1, with ds2 I said "OMG I'm going to have 2 under 2, 2 in diapers, what have I done", With this one I said, "OMG, I'm going to have 3 under 4, ds1 better get potty trained soon, I must be crazy"

Mandy73 · 11/07/2008 14:15

Thank you MKG lol at 'OMG OMG' not stopping .

Can I just ask you, Fountains of Wisdom: There seems to be a lot of scary advice on coffee linked to MCs around and I'm wondering if it would be idiotic of me to have one cup of decaf + milk/day. Have tried to google for advice on decaf & not found much . Have you cut all tea, coke & coffee, decaf or not?
Many thanks. x

dinny · 11/07/2008 14:17

decaff is Ok, I think - it's caffeine that has been linked to mc

HopingCat · 11/07/2008 14:22

Mandy - welcome. I don't know about a link between caffeine and MC. I've heard people say there could be a link, but I also know that I drank caffeine when pg with dd and most of my friends with children drank it. I also have a friend who had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks and she had cut caffeine out completely. Maybe there isn't any definite link, otherwise GP and midwife would tell people to cut all caffiene out, as most do with alcohol.

MKG · 11/07/2008 14:23

Well I've seen research that shows that more than 300mg affects the fetus. The average cup of coffee has between 100-150mg so it won't do any harm. Just remember that it is an 8oz cup. My thing would be getting a cup at the store and getting 16oz cup and forgetting that it a double serving.

There are about 36 mg in soda and 6mg in chocolate.

So figure two cups of coffee and a soda would be in the safe zone.

I'm staying away right from it because I need it in the afternoon to pick me up when I start to fade a little and it keeps me up later than I want to. Oh the visious cycle. I so want a Coke right now though!

HopingCat · 11/07/2008 14:24

Playingthe9monthwait - you sound like you've got the same feelings of ms I had in my last pg. I found the only way to prevent sickness was to eat every 2 hours all day, and not get too tired. I felt sick for 10 weeks from week 7 onwards, but I never actually was sick. I put quite a bit of weight on though!

HC

HopingCat · 11/07/2008 14:33

MKG - that's really interesting. Do you happen to know how many mgs of caffeine are in tea?

MKG · 11/07/2008 14:38

Here a link tocaffeine content

MKG · 11/07/2008 14:40

Playing--I felt the same way in my first pregnancy I ate all the time, because it's the only thing that made me feel ok. I gained 20 lbs in first trimester and 50 overall.

HopingCat · 11/07/2008 14:41

Just had a call from my Mum to tell me my Gran's got shingles. Anyone know if this is dangerous to pg women? I've not yet told family about baby as I wanted them to all be in one place to tell. If I stay away from my Gran until she's better, can I catch shingles from anyone else who has been to see her? Need to go and research this I think.

Afternoon All
Hoping Have you had chicken pox before? If you haven't then I would seek GP advice
MKG Good luck with the car shopping, at least you have a practical checklist, mine would be 1) nice colour 2) not too small 3) not too big 4) no pokey out bit on the back
Mandy Hello and welcome, looks like there are a few of us first timers, I hope the others are ready for our stream of never ending questions

My (.)(.) are incredibly sore today can't even fold my arms over my chest which I do a lot at work when people annoy me!

Playingthe9monthwait · 11/07/2008 15:24

Hi everyone, I am trying to eat quite heathily but little and often. I am already overweight and its never bothered me in the slightest but I now kinda feel a responsibilty to look after myself so I am going to try not to put too much weight on. Thats the theory at least

Hoping, sorry know nothing about shingles.

Fearless - I think early scans (8-12 weeks) cost between £50-£100. They are far cheaper than later scans. I think I will go for one too.

FruitynNutty · 11/07/2008 15:55

Hi everyone. I'm probably being very optimistic joining you this early but sod it! I got my BFP this morning I've been waiting for it for 11 months with only 5 cycles and PCOS.
I can't actually believe I'd ever get onto the anti-natal threads. I was sure I'd be the last one standing in the waiting room. But I'm not, I'M HERE!!! Yipeeeeee!

Mollie so nice to see a gorgeous familiar face, we're baby buddies!

Now we just need everyone else to shift their eggs and join us

I'm Fruity BTW, 29 with a 3 year old DS. Probably due in March. Although no idea of date as I'm on CD58 and only ov'd about 12 days ago
I'm guessing about mid-late March. I'm hoping for a dating scan to clarify that.
I've not got any symptoms yet (obviously) except the odd twinge in uterus area.
I actually got all excited the other day didnt I Mollie cos I thought I'd finally got my AF. Turned out it was implantation spotting

Anyway, I'll shut my trap now and have a read through the posts.

I'm hoping I get to stay here for a good 9 months!

Mandy73 · 11/07/2008 16:07

Afternoon all,
Many thanks for being so welcoming Dinny, HopingCat & Mollie.
Hi FruitnNutty we both got BFP this morning, woo-hooo! Can?t wait to tell DH, you?

Fearlessfreak, sorry I have no idea what a private scan would cost. I hope it works out for you.

I hope everyone's feeling good & looking forward to the w/e.

Just got this interesting caffeine info from a buddy over at TTC, thought I'd share:
?My DF is a pharma analyst and looked up the study data on caffeine. He found that less than 200mg to 300mg of caffeine has NO effect on miscarriage or fertility.

By % concentration espresso has more caffeine than say filter coffee BUT, espresso only comes in a small volume.

It also seems to depend on what coffee you take, with arabica coffees
having generally 50% less caffeine than robusta coffees.

Bascially a single shot of espresso is probably around 100mg (probably an over estimate for arabica coffee). So you could safely have 2 or 3 without having to worry about it.?

Playingthe9monthwait · 11/07/2008 16:16

Hi Fruity, Congratulations on your BFP. I do recognise you from the conception threads although I don't think we have ever actually talked! I think I joined on the day I got my BFP as well .

Mandy - I had read that than less than 300mg was ok. I am still drinking 2 cups of tea a day (which is a lot less than normal) and I think that seems to be a safe amount. There's a limit to how much I can give up without loosing my sanity, I mean no red wine (or pimms if the sun ever shines ), no nice soft/blue cheese, pate, parmasan on pasta, where does it end!?

MollieMooma · 11/07/2008 17:04

Fruity Words cannot describe how happy I am to "see" you here! Like you said let's give the others a kick up the bum and get them in here (or the next one too)
Baby buddies - I like it
Playing I'm more than a bit overweight and only started WW 3 weeks ago, but when I spoke to the GP she said I can carry on following it so long as I am sensible so at least I can try and lose as I put on IYSWIM

Mandy73 · 11/07/2008 17:05

Very true Playingthe9monthwait. I am try to be an 'all things in moderation' person. Actually I'm a helluva worrier - not healthy always .

Mandy73 · 11/07/2008 17:07

MollieMooma you look v slim in your lovely wedding pic.

Playingthe9monthwait · 11/07/2008 17:08

Well I def don't think I plan to diet but I do want to eat as healthily as possible. It would not be good for me or my bean if I put me too much weight during this pg. Yo never no, giving up booze in itself might help!

Playingthe9monthwait · 11/07/2008 17:10

Don't get me wrong I am not drinking and am trying to avoid banned foods where possible but I am not letting it take over my life.
