Come on I can't be the ONLY one!!! I got my BFP this morning - I think I'm due around the 12th March...

No real symptoms yet other than slightly weary this afternoon, and quite bad backache.

Not too hopeful JUST yet as very early days and had a m/c last year. Already have a DD (2.5)

Don't leave me here on my own too long!!

You won't admire me when I fall asleep at work, or am so tired I put a staple through my finger (did that last week). I normally try to stay away from caffeine though. But a 2 weeks ago when the nausea started I was living on Coke to calm my stomach which started a vicious cycle. I would still probably kill someone for a bottle of coke today. My car died so I got up at 5 with dh to drive him to work. The boys were so happy to take dada to work this morning, but I'm feeling it right now.

emma2617 · 10/07/2008 12:27

I was exceptionally tired when I first suspected I was pregnant, would sleep 10/11 hours at night, and a 2 hour nap when i got in from work! but now, although I am absolutely shattered I just can't sleep!!

Over the last couple of days I have got into ginger biscuits in a big way, and I am still loving cheese and pickle sandwiches, and beef paste!! I also have VERY sore nipples...the rest of my boobs are fine though!!

I am booked in with doctor on Tuesday for paperwork and booking midwife appts etc. According to his wonderful world of 28 day cycles OVing on day 14 I should be 8 weeks when I see him so hopefully shouldn't have to wait too long for my appts (at which I will probably be told I'm not that far gone!!)

I know it will all probably be a bit of an anti-climax, but after all the dilly-dallying of the last 3 weeks I just want to get the ball rolling!

Playingthe9monthwait · 10/07/2008 12:31

Thats the weird thing MKG - I am knackered, I was virtually falling asleep at my desk yesterday. I got home last night and collapsed on the sofa and can only just drag myself out of bed in the morning but still I am struggling to sleep well at night. Mind you that could be why I am so tired! I actually don't feel as bad today though which is weird, less tired and no sickness.

Ceedub - yep I am still drinking caffeine. I have cut down, I drink 2 cups of tea a day during the week at work and probably a strong coffee or 2 a day at the weekends. Its hard enough to maintain alertness and enthusiam at work right now without completely giving up caffeine! Giving up alcohol was hard enough, I can't give up caffeine as well, just reduced it significantly.

Playingthe9monthwait · 10/07/2008 12:35

Hi Emma- I know what you mean my EDD is based on a 28 day cycle so I know its wrong. I am leaving it for now but I might talk to the midwife about it see if she will put it forward a few days as there is no way I ov'd on CD14!

MKG · 10/07/2008 12:39

Playing--Trade in your tea now for decaf mint tea. It really helps digestion. I had the worst reflux with ds1 so when I was pregnant with ds2 I drank mint tea everyday and didn't have any reflux (except when I ate really spicy).

That's my useful tip of the day.

emma2617 · 10/07/2008 12:40

ceedub Not trying to rub it in ...honestly!! I didn't need to give up caffeine as I don't drink tea or coffee and will only have the occasional Coke if we go out for a meal or a drink, I dont drink alcohol either so I am not too hard up here!! I did have to quit smoking though...which was very hard!! I quit in Jan but then at start of May I just thought sod it, I'm not gonna fall pregnant straight away (as DP has low sperm count) so I started again!! Then 6 weeks down the line, nicely addicted again, thought I was pregnant, so had to stop again!!

Playing Thats exactly what I'm like...I feel like I could have a nap at my desk...but I can guarantee I will not be able to sleep when I get home!! This pregnacy lark is bizarre!!!

MKG · 10/07/2008 12:40

Playing I had the same thing when I called the midwife. Their little wheel is based on 28 days, and she said I would be due the 8th, I said, "no ma'am there is no way I could be due then as to the fact that would put conception around the 14th and I didn't have sex until the 17th".

Playingthe9monthwait · 10/07/2008 12:51

MKG - Thanks for the tip. I have already switched the rest of my normal teas for jasmine tea and I drink green tea at home. Haven't tried mint tea though so might give that a go.

They do find it so hard to believe that you may not have a textbook cycle. Whilst I did have plenty of sex last cycle, the earliest I tend to ov is CD18 and the latest has been CD25. I did not get any EWCM till CD18 and it carried on through to CD21, so I think a CD14 ov date is unrealistic.

MollieMooma · 10/07/2008 12:55

Sleep, I just seem to need so much!! I have a good 7 hours and still want more, I've been falling asleep on the sofa in the evening and just after lunch I could drop off at my desk but I don't think my boss would be too impressed
I now seem to have developed a spidey sense of smell, if anything has the tiniest odour then I can smell it and it's usually horrible!
Still no MS for me, still keep imagining I'm feeling sick but no actual sickness, sometimes a little lightheaded so not sure what that's about.
Sounds like a lot of you will be changing your EDD when you get your dating scans. MKG LOL at your response "we didn't have sex until the 17th" It makes me laugh that they expect everyone to fall in with the perfect dates!
Hope the MS subsides for those of you suffering soon x

Playingthe9monthwait · 10/07/2008 13:17

Hi Mollie - you see I am already a at least 8 hours of sleep a night girl, I don't actually get up till 8am (alarm goes off at 7.30) and go to bed anytime between 10-11pm. Therefore the fact that I am struggling to get to sleep before 12 and wake up a few times a night probably is in itself enough to make me knackered! Although I must say I feel a lot less tired today and do not feel sick so maybe the tiredness is a pg thing after all. Well who knows, this is all new to me!

I'm still drinking caffiene I'm afraid, although I have massively cut down. I was on a large black filter from starbucks every morning, and now am on large skimmed lattes... will prob switch to decaf later on....

I feel dreadful today - didn't help that DD1 wasn't going to sleep last night as the wind was keeping her up. Didn't get to bed until after midnight and didn't get to sleep until gone 1am - am shattered this morning!

MKG great tip with the mint tea - i was swigging gavison from week 7 with I was pg with DD so happily try an alternative. Is it peppermint tea you drank?

Am in the process of booking scan (prob 11 wks) and also trying to get an early one too, a couple of weeks, due to previous m/c.

But feel v light headed and keep retching, had to tell everyone at work as the majority had guessed. Feel bad that they know and some of my family don't!

OP posts:
ceedub · 10/07/2008 14:18

damn, thought the ms thing was going to be easy - just a bit in the morning...till i tried to eat my lunch. Two forkfuls and that was it. Hopefully this won't last long....I love food and cooking!
But had some good news on my early scan - all booked in for the 17th.

MollieMooma - I completely kn ow what you mean on sense of smell, everything smells strange, especially floral scents and coriander....

Playingthe9monthwait · 10/07/2008 14:28

nice to "meet" you twocute!

Aunty - wow can't believe you've had to tell work. You know before I got pg I thought there was no way I was letting work know before I was 12 weeks but if I start feeling really ill there's just going to be no hiding it. I also am well aware that my productivity seems to haev gone right down and my mind keeps wandering (v. unlike me) so I think I may have to share earlier than I would like. I suppose we shall see how it goes.

ceedub - thats great news and really quick!

MollieMooma · 10/07/2008 14:31

Twocutedarlings Much prefer that name to DC3, I bet you feel better now your not in disguise

I must admit not finding the caffeine cutdown too hard, as we had been trying for a while had swopped to caffeine free tea and after m/c carried on with the caffeine free coke too, it's the alchohol I miss

HopingCat · 10/07/2008 14:41

Welcome to the new people. I only get to read the thread a couple of times a week so there's always loads to catch up on.

For those feeling lightheaded, I've looked it up (coz I am getting this myself)and it's apparantly very normal while body is adjusting to being pg. So now I want to feel dizzy more often, as this is my only symptom and I much prefer it when I have symptoms. I promised myself I would not wish to feel sick, as last time I felt sick for so long, but I have now reached the point where I'm thinking that at least if I feel sick I am definitely still pg, so I want to feel sick! I don't know why I can't be more positive. Is it normal to be this paranoid about pregnancy?

On the subject of caffeine, I've now managed to cut down from 7/8 cups of tea a day to just 2. I've found a decaff tea that I like and that's made it much easier. I can't drink mint tea, it's the strangest colour and smell and I just can't make myself drink it! I didn't try and reduce caffeine when pg with dd, but I went off tea (and chocolate!) completely part way through so literally cut caffiene out completely almost overnight. As soon as I had DD I was having tea and chocolate in the hospital! It was so weird.

Anyone gone off anything yet? Or had a weird craving?

HC x

Playingthe9monthwait · 10/07/2008 14:42

Oh yes Mollie, I could murder a nice glass of Chablis or a G&T!

Playingthe9monthwait · 10/07/2008 14:46

Hi HopingCat, sorry x posts!

I am working hard not to be paranoid. I think so far I've had just enough symptoms to stop being too bad, but I must admit I have a little voice in the back of my head saying "why don't you feel so bad today, is something wrong?" Trying to remain as laid back as I can about it though.

No cravings at all and not gone off anything either.

dinny · 10/07/2008 15:14

haven't been drinking caffeine, but decaff coffee tasting disgustingly bitter, bleurgh. The thought of alcohol makes me feel ill and also the thought of a lot of food.

off to the chemist for some seasick bands...

emma2617 · 10/07/2008 17:51

dinny they are supposed to be quite good! Let us know if they work...so i can be prepared if I get MS anytime soon!!

Has anyone else found that their libido has increased while pregnant?! I am seriously in the mood a lot of the time!!!!

twocutedarlings · 10/07/2008 18:02

Ive tried the wrist bands and this time they havent worked, but they definatly helped when i was pg with the girls.

My libido saddly is zero at the moment due to the sickness.

Hoping Cat your message has struck a chord, the most terrible thing happened today, part way through a walnut whip I realised I have GONE OFF CHOCOLATE! My life is surely over!

dinny · 10/07/2008 22:07

Emma, they worked with my first pregnancy quite well (dd) didn't do a thing with my second (ds)

so would echo what 2cd says totally!

gah, working a late tonight - soooo want my bed!!

MollieMooma · 10/07/2008 22:12

Dorothy LOL at the walnut whip!
Must admit didn't realise until now that I have no interest in chocolate, started dieting 3 wks ago and would normally have given in by now, but no... dont' what any, how strange
Dinny Ceedub & Aunty Really hope your MS wears off soon girls, sorry your feeling so crap.
I'm off to bed now as I can hardly keep my eyes open, will catch up tomorrow
Night x
