Jellie and LBB- that's exactly what I'm worried about. Did you have any inkling? Had your symptoms stopped?

I had a 7 week scan with dd as I had been bleeding and it was so reassuring to see her heartbeat. This time round thankfully no bleeding so far but so worried they'll be nothing there.

MarkStretch · 03/07/2008 09:14

When I spoke to my GP about it she dismissed it and said 'no point, they can't see anything so early' which I know is a crock of shit.

laidbackinengland · 03/07/2008 09:23

Yes MarkS - your GP speaks rubbish.

Early private scans are cheap as chips in Devon - mine cost £40 and although I was only 6+5 I could see the sac and heartbeat etc on a normal scan. Shocked that some people charge £200 !!

I am 'working from home' this morning [ha ha ha] . Although I have clients to see this afternoon - so will have to get dressed at some point.

PinkTulips · 03/07/2008 11:06

SEPTEMBER!!!!! that's when i get scanned! september! 11 bloody weeks away! (or longer, haven't even gotten a letter from the hospital to say they know i exist yet! and the only place i can find that does private scans is in dublin and costs 230 euros.

singing, i'm with you on the fish, had some gorgeous seabass last night and the taste of it on the return voyage has put me off fish altogether

am existing on no sleep at all as ds had a 41 degree fever yesterday and all last night, he was so bad he was delerious, he kept seeing cartoon caracters in the bedroom. he's fine now but i'm shattered!

have told 2 of my friends now as i was going mad with noone to chat to about it.

tink, a women on my last antenatal thread had a 20 week live birth too and he survived for 30 mins. she was so horrified to hear the doctors calling it a miscarriage afterwards, it really upset her at what was already a difficult time for her. it's completely unacceptable of them to say things like that to mothers in your situation, a baby who lives and breathes is not in any way shape or form a miscarriage

rosieposey · 03/07/2008 11:49

Hi all - bit worried as only pregnancy symptoms i have had is sore boobs (no sickness or anything) and today they feel alot less tender than they have done - im only 6 and a half weeks and i thought that symptoms got worse around now! Anyone else get fading symptoms and then they come back again? just so worried about another missed miscarriage...

PinkTulips · 03/07/2008 11:52

tink, can you give me your email again... can't find it when i scroll up the thread anymore!

Neeerly3 · 03/07/2008 11:58

rosie posey, my sickness with dt's didn't kick in til 8 weeks and only lasted 4 weeks....this time I have been feeling sick for about a week, so week 6 i think and hoping it will also die off around 12 weeks.

Jelliebaby · 03/07/2008 11:58

Markstretch - I had no symptoms in the first 12 wks before my MMC. I felt a little bit tired but otherwise fine. As it was my first pregnancy i didn't know how i was suppose to feel and just thought i'd got away with all the sickness etc. With DD I felt sick and this time round I have felt so sick its been unture.

Everybody is different though and i know some people still have all the sickness etc and still have a MMC.

Some GP'S just dismiss you if you ask for an early scan, they really don't like you having one for some reason. I had one at 5+4 this time (due to being in hospital with MS) but they could only see a sac and no HB.

Jelliebaby · 03/07/2008 12:03

Rosie - My sickness started at 8 wks with DD and 5 wks this time around. You might just be a lucky one who doesn't get sick. Were you sick with your others? I dont get sore boobs, ever, they seem to stay exactley the same all the way through.........small.

rosieposey · 03/07/2008 12:07

Im not really worried about not having any sickness tbh as i didnt really get sick in my other pregnancys but i have had the sorest boobs since about 3 and a half weeks pregnant infact that was what prompted me to take the early hpt but ive just noticed that yesterday and today they are not nearly so sore ( i was having to hold them as the car went over speed bumps! thats how sore they were ) but whilst if i poke them ( lol not really recommended ) there is still slight tenderness there it isnt nearly so pronounced as the last 2 to 3 weeks or so - am worried that the symptoms are fading because ive had another missed mc - just wondered if this has happened to anyone else with a happy outcome that was all

PinkTulips · 03/07/2008 12:23

rosie, although your other pregs were a while ago your body does still remember them. your boobs have stretched and grown before so they're unlikely to be too painful this time once the initial discomfort is past as they've stretched to that size before iyswim?

poor ds is sitting onmy lap and has gotten all hot again, not sure what to do, can't get to docs with him as have no car. both he and dd get these fevers regularly but this one seems to be lingering. getting a bit worried now

rosieposey · 03/07/2008 12:39

yeah im sure your right Pink, hope your DS feels better soon

herbgarden · 03/07/2008 12:46

fruitstick - I wanted an early scan just for my own peace of mind really - absolutely no medical reason. I think, because of my age (38) I've been more nervous about miscarriage so wanted a scan so I didn't get to 12 weeks to find I'd had a m/mc and have to deal with it then - I did feel re-assured by seeing a heartbeat even though I know I still have a few hurdles to get over !!

I'm feeling more sick with this one than with ds and more tired but maybe it's highlighted by not being able just to put your feet up when you want to.

pinktulips sorry your lo is poorly with fever - it's always scary - do you have equivalent of nhs direct out there in Ireland - I find them great when ds has had "odd" things in the past.....

oooggs · 03/07/2008 13:06

scanned booked for 18th July - bang on 12 weeks at 8.35am (so shouldn't be running behind )

Neeerly3 · 03/07/2008 13:21

jammy oooggs! I not seeing midwife til 23rd July.....

oooggs · 03/07/2008 13:24

nightmare neeerly - doesn't she know you could be high risk

LuLuBai · 03/07/2008 13:35

How soon have people's appointments come through after seeing the doc then? I only told my GP I was pregnant a week ago, so I guess I only have myself to blame.

Have been spotting for last couple of days so am keen to be scanned to check everything is OK. Called NHS Direct but they didn't seem to think there was anything to worry about. Just put feet up and drink lots of fluid and hope for the best.

oooggs · 03/07/2008 13:38

we have to see dr first (not that they do anything) about 4-6 weeks

then about 8-10 weeks see the midwife for a booking apt.

then a week after that ring the scan dept for a date for the dating scan which is around 12-13 weeks

all different depends on area

Neeerly3 · 03/07/2008 13:41

I needn't have seen my GP, should just have gone to midwife - but then found that they are all busy, everyone is having babies, the damn cheek - so earliest I could get was 23rd when I will be about 10 weeks, so hoping that I can get a scan (which the midwife sorts) before i go on hols on the 30th.

Singingintherain · 03/07/2008 13:45

With my first MC pregnancy last year I had a scan at 6 weeks, but because the Doctor did not get the dates right or believe I had conceived late in my cycle he told me I had probably MC'd. I was so frightened I went for a second opinion where I was told that I was about 6 weeks and it was fine. I went back for an eight week scan and saw the hb. A 12 week scan showed all was well too and all measurements were taken and confirmed 12w. Unfortunately I MC'd two weeks later due to poor development.

With my later pregnancy in March it was too early at 6 weeks to see anything, but at 8 weeks it had not developed any further so I MC'd.

I am now 8w+4 and I am being cared for by both the state system and also a private system because I live outside the UK. I do not speak the local language so it is vital that I have care that I can understand. My DH's company pay for the care which is brilliant. I visit the local surgery for routine care and they know that I see a private consultant in conjunction. I have double scans, but my GP thinks that I am 9w+7, so I get all my appointments with them a weeks or so earlier than with the Consultant.

It just seems routine that every time you visit my Consultant you have a scan, but this is not so with the GP. I have had to have two emergency scans over the last few weeks due to complications. The are really important to me as I have had two very different MCs. I still dread going though and always seem surprised when I get good news. I am just worried at the moment as I have a placenta haematoma so I have to be very careful, but I am not due for another scan with the Consutant until 12w. I have just found out that he also offers 3d and 4d scans, but I have to pay for that myself as it is not routine, which I do not mind.

I do not think I could cope thinking I was pregnant if I was going through a MMC again. I think that they only perform scans if there is a history of complications or if you have a significant problem at the time. I wish sometimes that they were a little more sympathetic. I feel that you would not ask for one if you were not worried and the worry only makes you feel worse.

LuLuBai · 03/07/2008 13:47

My GP said she was referring me to midwife and they would write to me with my appt date. Just waiting now.

I can't really remember what happened last time. But was with a different GP and PCT then anwyay. Just remember that scan was at exactly 12 weeks to the day.

Was hoping NHS direct would tell me to go for an early scan, but no such luck. Remember that biscuitytrousers said that St George's in S. London do a walk-in service. Maybe I should give it a whirl. Will see if spotting continues.

Should probably just get out and take DD to the playground and stop pacing around the house like a bear with a sore head.

littleboyblue · 03/07/2008 14:59

MarkStretch With my mmc, I did know. I was at work when I suddenly started crying uncontrollably. I called my best friend and told her I wasn't pregnant anymore, she asked when I started bleeding, I told her I hadn't at that I just knew I wasn't pregnant. She told me to stop being silly and it was just my hormones.
I walked out of work, can't remember doing it, and I found myself sitting in a church looking at the easter display.
2 weeks later at the scan, they told me that it had stopped growing about 2 weeks ago.
With my last pg, I had a feeling at the start that it wouldn't go full term, but still told everyone in hope.

I do really feel for everyone and know what an anxious time this is for all of us, but just because I've been scanned early, still does not mean everything will be ok.

McDreamy · 03/07/2008 17:26

Got my appointment with the midwife sorted today for Tuesday, she is coming to me!!

Hoping for a scan next week too! Anyone got raging indigestion?

Guitargirl · 03/07/2008 18:14

I have midwife appointment tomorrow. At our practice the GP rings the hospital to make the scan appointment when you have the first appointment with GP. Mine is booked for when I'll be 12.5 weeks.

I was also thinking about Davidsmom the other day, I thought maybe she had namechanged and I'd missed it. Davidsmom - where are you?

MarkStretch · 03/07/2008 20:00

Hi everyone.

Thanks for all sharing your stories.

I have had a rubbish day! Started off ok and took the afternoon off work to sort out birthday stuff and got home to find a letter from Tax Credits saying they were taking me to court for an overpayment.

Not going to bore you with the story but it has been going on for years and I have set up so many repayment plans and they have never taken any money and the stress just got to me today.

Spent the afternoon making shouty phonecalls and doing a lot of sobbing. Thankfully I think it is sorted now but can I just say THEY ARE BASTARDS.
