i'm sorry you're having such a rugh ride singing. take heart in the fact that baby has clung on so far, he/she is obviously a fighter

enjoy your dh taking care of you while you can.... after baby comes that may never happen again relax and rest and let your body do what it needs to and there's a good chance it'll all be fine.

{{{hug}}}

LittleSarah · 02/07/2008 12:12

Oh my god singingintherain! What a nightmare time you've been having! Fingers crossed for you.I definitely think you should get a cleaner, especially if it's only for a while! I'm struggling to keep up with chores and I only have MS and tiredness stopping me...

Congrats to Nellstar!

Singingintherain · 02/07/2008 12:21

Just sitting here. I was hoping to go out in garden today, but it is raining. I can not believe it. It was 29 degrees last night and today it is warm but wet.

My DCs have already finished school two weeks ago and they get 10 weeks off so we can stay in bed a little longer in the mornings which helps with MS. I just manage to stay out of bed until DH comes home. I got some anti sickness medicine from Doctor, but it does not work. I am worried about keep being sick as I am frightened about MC. It puts loads of strain on my tummy.

I have decided to write a list of favourite food that I could just eat and am sending DH to buy it tonight. I am off meat again, but just love the thought of jelly sweets and icecream.

I was hoping to get a nice DVD for relaxation, so I am going to surf to find one. Any recommendations appreciated.

Jelliebaby · 02/07/2008 12:59

Congrats Nellstar and Singing, just shows these babies are little fighters!!!!

Ive just been to an acupunture consultation and a chinese lady told me i didnt need acupunture i needed a special medicine that they would produce just for me and would cost me £35.00 per week, she said this would stop my MS. I said i would think about it!!!! How can i be sure she isn't 'ripping me off' it's a lot of money but maybe worth it if it does actually work - especially as i'm off on hols.

laidbackinengland · 02/07/2008 13:32

Hi Singing, my SIL had a haematoma on her placenta the whole way through the first half of her pregnancy which caused her to bleed very regularly. Sh was told that she couldn't do anything (particularly sex and hoovering! ) and was on bed rest for some time. But after about 4 months the haematoma started shrinking and she was fine and the baby was fine -born with no problems. So good luck !

TinkerbellesMum · 02/07/2008 14:27

Anyone looking pregnant? I'm having to wear maternity jeans because other wise there's too much pressure on my scar and I think I look around 16 weeks! (which might be closer to what I will be if I'm right about the baby being early, IYSWIM)

Another question, anyone getting fancies for food, but not craving?

Congratulations Nellstar! Are you higher risk because of the twins or is their more happening? (Don't have to say if you don't want to).

Don't worry about staying here, I'm expecting this one to come in December. You're still the same amount of weeks as those of us on here.

Singingintherain, sorry to hear things have been so difficult, hope that things settle down. Don't forget that seeing a HB halves the risk of miscarriage. How does a placenta get bruised?

loopylula · 02/07/2008 14:31

Take the cleaner!

Seriously, that's great news for you Singing. Keep those feet up.

Likewise Nellstar! TWINS

MarkStretch · 02/07/2008 14:45

I look FAT. I have been tying my trousers together with a hairband again. And my boobs don't fit in my bra. It's not an attractive look.

But on the plus side my hair is nice and shiny.

jenniferturkington · 02/07/2008 14:50

Wow, Nellstar, how exciting!
And Singing, it is really positive news that you have seen a heartbeat, just make sure you put your feet up and get that cleaner!

Singingintherain · 02/07/2008 14:56

Not sure how the placenta gets bruised. (I thought that is what it was also).

I did spend the whole of the day that I started bleeding cleaning, hoovering, washing and ironing. I think that I over did it. I was also under a bit of pressure at home with various other things.

I called my medical insurance company and I was told earlier today that I MUST carry on as normal as possible but take it easier. Just a little at a time, but no lifting, carrying, pulling or pushing. Especially no hoovering. But on the whole there is nothing really to worry about.

I read today that seeing a heartbeat gives a very high percentage of a good pregnancy, I hope this applies to me but I am not sure as I did have a mc at 14 weeks.

I dare not try anything for the MS unless it comes from the Doctor. I think that when you are really bad you will try anything. In my opinion I am going to keep on with medicine from Doctor, sleep it off and eat little and often of what I fancy. I told my Consultant that I had no apetite and all I managed was orange juice, chocolate bread and cheese and other little bits and he said that was fine apart from try to cut out fatty foods and replace with healthier options. I just think that as long as I am eating something, and trying to take enough vitamins and minerals I will be ok. I now have a chocolate drink like the slimming ones that contain RDA's of everything you need to supplement what I can eat.

Singingintherain · 02/07/2008 15:08

Decided to try to watch the cookery programme just about to start. I am going to see if I can find anything to make later. DH is waiting for shopping list. I am really hungry so that is a good sign.

I have lost 11 kilos, nearly a stone and half in the last few months due to MC's so most of my clothes are too big, so I am lucky enough to still be able to wear them and nobody can tell. I am still a plus size clothes person, but I look much better. My tummy is starting to plump out but my hips and thighs look better. I feel more in proportion. Instead of bigger I actually look a little pregnant.

TinkerbellesMum · 02/07/2008 15:09

I know what you mean, I don't see any of pregnancy as safe after an 8 week M/C and then delivering a healthy baby at 20 weeks

I just remembered I didn't say before...

I went to an antenatal this morning with my haematologist. He's happy to let me get on with it this time as I did OK last time, so need one blood test to check my Heparin levels and then that's it from him.

Called into PALS to talk to them about my last appointment. Can't remember if I said before but the doctor must have been playing a game "How Many Times Can You Say Miscarriage in One Sentence"! "Now, I need to write your 20 weeker as a miscarriage, I know you don't see her as a miscarriage and you have a birth and death certificate for her, but we have to record any birth before 24 weeks as a miscarriage, that's why I have to write miscarriage here. I told PALS about it after Tink was born because I went through the same thing last time and changing my para from 1+1 to 0+2, was expecting them to do it this time which they didn't. Anyway, PALS aren't happy and she went straight there to talk to the doctor about it. She said she might not be able to get them to change it, but they need more tact when talking to a mother. I don't care what they write, as long as they don't say that awful M word about Lily-Hope! She deserves respect for being a human being, for being my daughter and because her bravery has potentially saved my life and most definitely saved Tink's life.

Singingintherain · 02/07/2008 15:21

I do not like the MC word either. But I feel it is better than the word they use here in Spain. They call them all abortions whether they are deliberate or natural. I have on my records two live births and 2 abortions. I find myself reminding people that they were natural ones.

TinkerbellesMum, you are really brave and wish you well.

TinkerbellesMum · 02/07/2008 15:35

I remember going to the GP after my MC, I'd been in when I first started bleeding and I saw that they wrote "Threatened abortion" on the computer!

I don't mind saying I had an 8 week miscarriage, but it's when they call my daughter who lived for three hours a miscarriage. It may be "technically" correct, but it's insensitive and tactless.

idontbelieveit · 02/07/2008 15:35

hi haven't been around for a bit, congrats nellstar and fingers crossed for you and Singing.
Singing - be careful that those fortified drinks don't contain vitamin A as that can be bad in pregnancy, if you want to take a supplement i'd take one especially recommended for pregnancy as it will have the things you really need and none of the potentially dangerous ones.

Hope everyone's good, I've got my scan date through for the 24th and have also got to meet with my consultant then and hopefully convince them to let me have an intervention free VBAC....cross your fingers for me!

idontbelieveit · 02/07/2008 15:37

Tink, that's really insensitive, hope you get better treatment this time

Singingintherain · 02/07/2008 15:41

Just been to check the drink and have noted that all the RDA's including vit A is at 30% so I will be careful. Do you think that this is ok. I am not sure where I might get the other 70% from. Just wondering if I might be overdoing it.

TinkerbellesMum · 02/07/2008 15:43

Thanks, this time I'm not so close to Lily-Hope's birth that I can't function so they won't get away with so much this time. Hopefully PALS will give them the hint that it's not going to be tolerated. Next step will be speaking to SANDS to see if they can do something.

Singingintherain · 02/07/2008 15:44

TinkerbellesMum, I think that it was insensative too. I am not sure how I would take it. Maybe they should find a new term to describe this, that is more fitting.

littleboyblue · 02/07/2008 15:46

Hi everyone. Nell, congrates on the twins!!!
I've just been doing a bit of packing as we're moving next week. Wish I hadn't my back is sore and I have twinges in my stomach. Sure everything's ok, it's just my body telling me to stop, so sat infront of the telly. Feel bit guilty as pretty much ignored ds all day. Will play with him in a bit I think. He's quite happy bashing his toys around right now. Why am I waffling shit?

idontbelieveit · 02/07/2008 15:50

Singing - if it's only 30% i'm sure it will be fine this link has some info.
Tink - i hope sands can come up with something, whatever they have to write down, surely they don't have to say MC....It amazes me when people who seem to have no consideration for the feelings of others choose to enter the medical profession tbh.

TinkerbellesMum · 02/07/2008 16:03

It's simple enough to say "20 week live birth" it says everything, all doctors/ MW's know that babies don't survive at that age so everything is covered, apart from how long she lived, which isn't really relevant to them anyway.

At Tink's booking in someone was so surprised that she survived that she forgot herself and said "What happened? Was she gasping? ..." (can't remember the rest of the questions) lol that one was so funny I couldn't be upset by it. I was just thinking "Does your brain know it just engaged your mouth?" I can accept that it is a shock to read it, even the MW who cut her free from the waters gasped as she said "I've got a heartbeat!" It was obvious she thought it was just routine to listen for a heartbeat.

I don't like the doctor from Friday very much anyway. I once told her I was worried because the headache I normally get if I don't take Aspirin was back, she said I didn't take a painkilling dose. Told rheumy after Tink was born and she said "Yes, well, not all doctors understand how this disease works" lol. The reason I was worried is that the pain was the blood not going around my head properly which it shouldn't do when I'm on so many anticoagulants. Since discovered I suffer TIAs so it's possible that it would have been a TIA if I hadn't been on the drugs.

Neeerly3 · 02/07/2008 16:39

nell - TWINS!!! wow - get yourself over to the multiples thread immediately! I still waiting on my first scan, just hope to god I'm not announcing the same news in a few weeks time!

IHaveASecretLittleSmile · 02/07/2008 18:02

Wow Nell on twins, and good luck to you.

And to Singing def. get that cleaner, if only for the knowledge, come what may, that you did everything you could. Then put your feet up. I would!!

Idontbelieveit ? I can?t remember your story (think it was failed induction past 40 weeks and EMCS) but check out the yahoo VBAC group! Plus, I?ve heard of the ?Ten Month Mama? website, but could only find this. HTH!

Tink ? the insensitivity of the ?professionals? never ceases to amaze me. I am so sorry to hear of your treatment.

OP posts:
oooggs · 02/07/2008 19:24

Neeerly ? acupuncture - lots of needles - in feet shins, belly, forehead & wrists - he put herbal things on 3 of them and set them alight I had to relax with eyes closed and I had a heat lamp over my belly, then had a fantastic face massage them over onto my side for 4 needles in my back and more heat lamp. Finally I have seeds stuck by plasters in my ear

No idea if it is working as I haven't stopped

Jelliebaby ? it was £40 this time, £35 next week and she is hoping to get me on NHS list (free) very soon

Nellstar ? fantastic news, twins ? great, Why the inevitable c-section? Yes pop over to the regular multiple thread here

Singingintherain ? hope you feel better soon

Tinksmum ? m/c that?s insensitive
