afternoon all..how are we all. i'm heaving at everything in sight and cannot face food. weather is horrible so marooned in the house with the little one. The boobs are killing me but i'm refusing to give up the underwired bra until its absolutely impossible for me to wear one. Feeling a bit nervous about becoming a stay at home mum. Dont want ds to miss out in the activities he enjoys at nursery. but i need to organise myself so that i dont just end up wasting my day..then again i dont know how practical that will be with a newborn?Anyone experienced this before?how are we all anyways?

MarkStretch · 25/06/2008 13:19

Afternoon.

I for one am really looking forward to being a SAHM for a while. Work is silly at the moment, my manager has left my team and we are all wandering around aimlessly bumping in to each other. I have brought my work home this afternoon and I am not budging off the sofa.

Feeling really bloated still and sick. I'm sure everyone in my office keeps glancing at my stomach and it's making me edgy. Can't wait until I actually look a bit pregnant rather than just fat.

I did another pg test this afternoon! I found a stray ebay cheapie at the bottom of my wash bag and did it, and guess what? It was positive! Phew....

LuLuBai · 25/06/2008 13:20

I'm marooned at home too. Waiting for a delivery 'sometime between 9 and 5' Grrrrrr.

We'll have a 22 month gap too. I'm pretty optimistic. DD is a very happy child and ideally likes to be with people all the time so I think she will love having a sibling.

And the baby will just tag along with all the activities I take her too. When she was younger (6-12 months) I didn't really know how to entertain her some days. She was a bit young for playgroups / playground etc but she and I both needed to get out of the house for a change of scene and some outside stimuli. Now she is at an age where there are more and more things she can do and I will just take the little one along too.

NervousMouse · 25/06/2008 13:24

Afternoon everyone, is it me or do the first '12' weeks really drag? I've not even known about being pregnant for 2 weeks yet and it seems to have been a life time. I've got another 6 weeks at least before my scan and before I feel I can tell anyone.

Luckily, I'm not suffering with ms or sore boobs so I think I really have it easy so far.

Moan over

LuLuBai · 25/06/2008 13:27

Yup - I think the first trimester and the last month drag most.

But pregnancy is generally really loooooong (sorry that's not very encouraging is it). Last time I used to just wish I could have a day off from being pregnant once in a while.

MarkStretch · 25/06/2008 13:28

God it's really dragging isn't it? I keep making mental notes...... dd's birthday next week, trip to midwife then dh's birthday 2 days later, then trip to London and then hopefully SCAN!

Every now and then my belly seems to feel really hard, like muscle tightenings, anyone else?

KazzaL · 25/06/2008 13:28

I was very lucky first time round, no sickness, just exceedingly heavy boobs, very tired and got SPD towards the end, so I;m hoping it will be the same this time except maybe not if you going on the different PG diffrent sex theory? I'd really like the other flavour this time, but nore sure whether to find out or not - but got 10 weeks or so to decide

NervousMouse · 25/06/2008 13:30

I have to be honest, in my last pregnancy I had it really easy after the ms stopped at around week 14-16. I think because I'm tall that I had more room for baby, I didn't even get any BH.

McDreamy · 25/06/2008 13:30

Oh Nervousmouse I know what you mean!!! 2 weeks down and soooooo many to go. I hate this bit - you knid of have nothing to show for how you feel. I have been on the verge of telling a couple of friends but keep thinking - no wait until the scan I'm so bored

My MS keeps changing, one minute it's morning sickness, today it's afternoon sickness!! I've just had a lovely nap as my MIL is here and she's looked after my other 2 for a bit - she is fab!! I wonder what she's doing for the next 8 months And it's sooooooooo horribly hot here. Really humid, too hot to go out so I am sat here sweating and moaning, enough already

KazzaL · 25/06/2008 13:33

definitely!!! You're so excited, but can't tell anyone - we've told family and a few close friends, but the weeks are going by soooo slowly

Clarabumps · 25/06/2008 13:34

i'm kinda aprehensive about telling people. ds is not even a year so they'll be like. AGAIN???

McDreamy · 25/06/2008 13:37

So out of interest what are you ladies saying when on a night out or something and obviously not drinking? I have a cuple of nights out coming up and have volunteered to be the driver. The drink drive limit is so low out here you can't really even have one - which suits me!

Trouble is I am going to a lunch in a couple of weeks at the mess (which is a 2 minute walk away so no driving excuses) and I am sitting at a table with all my mates. They are notoriously quite boozy occasions and I am trying to come up with a cunning plan. Maybe I won't be feeling great that day, or maybe DH and I need to go out afterwards.........trying to think of something believable

KazzaL · 25/06/2008 13:37

Our families weren't even surprised!! And I know work thought I would come back PG after DS1 - not quite, but i'll only be back for 10months

KazzaL · 25/06/2008 13:39

McDreamy - how about you need to drive somewhere afterwards? or have to go & give blood or the gym or......? Heavy night before and so taking it easy

LuLuBai · 25/06/2008 13:39

I haven't told anyone. DH has told quite a few - his brother, random people he works with etc.

I did nearly come clean yesterday when a friend asked if I was thinking of having a second at all.

LuLuBai · 25/06/2008 13:41

Night out??? Wassat?

PinkTulips · 25/06/2008 13:43

i'm sure a few of my firends have guessed but i keep chickening out of telling people so early.

this preg isgoing to seem so bloody long for me, i've always been almost at 12 weeks before finding out so i've never experianced the 'joys' of waiting out the first trimester before

McDreamy, just be glad your not on this side of the continent, tis so cold i've had the heating on and am still shivering. not to mention the continuous rain since last sat. and the wind isso strong it broke my french doors earlier

McDreamy · 25/06/2008 13:43

Yes I think I will need to say something like that KazzaL! Give blood is a good one except the blood transfusion service don't come out to Cyprus but driving somewhere afterwards would work although it will mean I will have to leave early as these "lunches" tend to go on into the evening!!!!!

PinkTulips · 25/06/2008 13:45

I'll be 10 weeks on my next night out so i figure i'll be brave enough to tell people then.

McDreamy · 25/06/2008 13:46

I will be 8 so my other option is to just come clean

NervousMouse · 25/06/2008 13:55

I don't think work will be happy with me, I only came back at the end of Jan from maternity so I'm not looking forward to telling my boss. My family will be pleased though. I nearly told my friend at work at lunch today but I know she'll struggle to keep it to herself.

I need to coem up withan excuse too, I have a hen do to go to in July and it's local.

It's all so tricky!

Clarabumps · 25/06/2008 14:00

i was at a wedding at the weekend and said i was on antibiotics for a gum infection

NervousMouse · 25/06/2008 14:02

That sounds like a good plan but unfortunately, the girl who's getting married is a nurse so she knows you can drink whilst on antibiotics.

PinkTulips · 25/06/2008 14:17

just say you have somewhere to be the next day and can't be hungover and nurse one drink for the night.

LuLuBai · 25/06/2008 14:20

I have managed to wave a glass of wine around for ages. People assume you are drinking. You can occasionally even lift to your lips and look as if you are taking a sip. If DH is around you can just put your glass down next to his occasionally and pick up the emptier one.

My poor DH was drinking for two for the first three months last time. We went to the opening of a new Cuban bar with friends just after we found out and there were free Mojitos being offered round every 5 minutes. It would have looked distinctly odd for me to turn down a free cocktail so I just had to keep switching my glass with DHs and waving the drink around in my hand the rest of the time. No-one sussed me out (they were all too wasted on free Mojitos).

It is easier than you might think to make people think you are drinking. Especially when they are drinking themselves.
