Katz, thanks for your email. I have replied but also said I would post on here my suggestion for luch tomorrow. Basically all I suggested was that at lunch we give our doatios to someone, and they send off 1 cheque to Katz, makes it a bit simpler. I'm happy to send a cheque.

Congrats, Teabelly. :-)

Scraggy, I hate to break it to you, but fat chance on the eating habits. My dh is the pickiest eater that ever walkedon this earth. He is away all week. Never even there at feeding time. And DD is just bloody like him. GRRRRR

I detest feeding time. She's been known to piss mummy off to the point that she gets no dinner at all. Little cow!

MrsWednesday · 25/01/2005 14:11

Congrats on the girl Teabelly!!!!

(must, must, must go and do some work now, back later)

Welshie, did you tell Teabelly and not the rest of us????????? Shame on you!

charleypops · 25/01/2005 14:17

Teabelly - that little observation on the stats thread made me LOL! Blame Kstz - she started it!

LipstickMum · 25/01/2005 14:29

Wow, ok , not that many posts to read Wow Scrags, you did have a great day yesterday, not having to commute is absolute bliss and top priority when you have to combine childcare etc. Sorry to hear your dp is a smoker, not great for young babies, but don't worry too much. I don't think I could cope with one of those monitors that alarms if breathing stops, I think it would make me totally paranoid But it will put your mind at rest I'm sure. Good luck with the old pregnancy thing. You might want to think about having an au pair or nanny instead of nursery, because you will be knackered with 3 under 3, especially if you go back to work which it sounds like you plan to. I'm not trying to put you off at all, but babies can be hard work and pregnancy takes it's toll on your body. If you plan on breastfeeding I wonder if that will cause problems with conceiving, i.e. it's meant to be a good 'contraceptive', although not 100% like a lot of them... Sorry train of thought went a bit mad there!

So, enlighten an ignorant person about how they find the sex apart from the obvious genital check!! Teabelly mentioned the heartbeat being lower than 140, indicating a girl?? I didn't know that. I am still too scared to find out, what a wimp, only 10 days to go. My heart will be racing as I go in for the scan if we havn't decided what to do and I will be thinking about you lot who do know!

Just a quickie - I'm about to pop out to do some shopping. It's time I replenished my everyday pants and I was wondering - is there any reason I cannot continue wearing hipster thongs throughout my pregnancy? I know you can buy maternity pants, but don't see how they would be any better (probably make me feel bigger than I already am). Should I invest instead of some other type of pant?

mrsflowerpot · 25/01/2005 14:49

you can get maternity thongs, charleypops, which as I recall from last time are actually quite comfy. Mothercare, I think... also they did other knickers that you don't have to tuck under your boobs too.

megi · 25/01/2005 14:49

Hello everyone!

Feeling much better - but still gutted I missed the meet! Next time!

Lippy.. about the heart beat. I think that if the heart rate is over 140 beats per minute, there is an increased chance of the baby being a girl. If it is under this figure, it is slightly more likely to be a boy. I asked my doctor about this with dd1. The heart rate did indicate a girl - which was correct. (as it does this time - 149 beats per minute!)However, my doctor did tell me that this info isn't really all that reliable - as Teabelly has proved!

LipstickMum · 25/01/2005 14:51

Oh God, maternity knickers! Hope you read this before you go out Charley.

There are lots of things one can buy during pregnancy, some useful to some, some not. I never, ever saw the need for pregnancy knickers. Bra, yes obviously. Tights, yes.

Knickers? Unless you wear cami like knickers that go high above the bikini line, I never understood why you would need them. Unless of course you put on so much weight that you go up a size, this is highly unlikely in your case Charley.

I never needed maternity nightwear either, just wore one of dp's old t shirts or nothing Waste of money imho.

Anyone else got a different experience?

Great - thanks Lippy! just caught this in time x

MrsFP - I'll have a look at those next time I'm in there just to see what the difference is - can't imagine, unless one is used to really high waisted ones

Scraggyaggy · 25/01/2005 15:07

Charley - I've got maternity thongs and normal thongs. My normal ones are still ok, although I wear them a lot lower down than I used to. I think the maternity knickers are good if you need som support round your belly later on (I'm planning to get some once my belly grows a bit!!)

Lippy - Yes, 3 under 3 could be fun!! Luckily, as I say we'll be walking distance to home, nursery is round the corner to both me and dp and then hopefully, I'll be doing a fair bit of home working and dp, being self-employed will also be swapping about his shifts. So hopefully, hopefully, it'll work out wonderfully!

Scraggyaggy · 25/01/2005 15:10

I wear hidden support vests for bed with pj bottoms and if I'm feeling "sexy" (not very often now!!!) then I've got a very expensive nightie from Isabella Oliver which has a low cut front but hidden support for my boobs too!

aprilmeadow · 25/01/2005 15:18

Hi Ladies

I have a message from Sweetheart......

Thank you for all the messages you have sent. They are somehting i will look over when i'm feeling a bit stonger, but its lovely to know you have all been thinking of me and my family, and I'm very grateful for the flowers ( which were beautiful) and donations.

Just to let you know i gave birth to a tiny baby boy on friday. He was beautiful and looked very peaceful. I will always cherish the moment i met my son.

Thank you for being an invaluable source of support over the last few months and i will look forward to hearing of your new arrivals later in the year

Sweetheart x

Lua · 25/01/2005 15:30

April thanks for sending news from sweetheart.

I have tears in my eyes and wished I could do anything for her. I guess only time can help the healing process...

Big hugs sweetheart!

LipstickMum · 25/01/2005 15:36

Thanks for the message April, really very tearful here .

Sweetheart, we do miss you still so much. I'm sure your son was absolutely beautiful. Take good care of yourself, xxx.

I've never been so greatful and so sad all at once.

aprilmeadow · 25/01/2005 15:42

I read over your messages about the additional 'gift'. I dot know what you think, but myself and Sweetheart were given vouchers to the Sanctuary Spa in Covent Garden as our xmas pressies from our dh's. Perhaps it could go towards an additional treatment (she was going to be booking an Aromatherpy Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage - thats about £30) please let me know your thoughts - if you think its a good idea perhaps a voucher could be arranged??

Just a thought??

tribpot · 25/01/2005 15:48

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes and congrats to Teabelly on 'our' first little girl.

April, thanks so much for passing on Sweetheart's message, another one here with tears in her eyes

Take good care, one and all.

MrsWednesday · 25/01/2005 15:51

Tears in eyes (and dropping onto my desk) here too. Wish I could give you a massive hug Sweetheart.

megi · 25/01/2005 15:59

Thinking of you sweetheart.
xxx

Uwila · 25/01/2005 16:05

I'm so bloody sad now...

But, keeping my chin up, I'd say the sanctuary gift certificate sounds like a good idea.

LipstickMum · 25/01/2005 16:19

April, The Sanctuary gift is a wonderful idea, we were looking to your lead for ideas anyway, thanks.
