Katz, thanks for your email. I have replied but also said I would post on here my suggestion for luch tomorrow. Basically all I suggested was that at lunch we give our doatios to someone, and they send off 1 cheque to Katz, makes it a bit simpler. I'm happy to send a cheque.

Don't know Katz. Difficult really isn't it? Maybe send her the cash? Meal might work.

Uwila · 25/01/2005 11:53

I'm with Lua. In fact, I was going to say the same thing until I saw it had already been typed. I think cash could possibly be a bit offensive. Maybe we could rope April into babysitting so sweetheart and her DH can go out for this meal. Nice of me to offer on April's behalf, huh?

Uwila · 25/01/2005 11:57

Oh right, I've just done the math. We only have £31. Guess that's not really much of a meal (unless they like Nandos). Maybe a bottle of scotch? Don't kill me, I'm just kidding.

Possibly a gift certificate, and April could advise a good place. Wouldn't have any idea where she likes to shop!

LipstickMum · 25/01/2005 12:01

I agree with Uwila and was going to suggest that we ask April to organise a gift certificate for something; clothes shop, facial, massage etc. It would also be a bit tricky to send her out for a meal with the money (if it was enough) without physically giving her the cash, iykwim.

Well, I was thinking about sending her some food.
I was inspired by the "chef on board" add in the home page of MN. Here is the address of their menu.
I think we could put together a nice dinner at home for them with 31 quids....
It could also be a basket with nice stuff in it - again don't know what she likes... but hopefully we can find out through April...

Lua · 25/01/2005 12:02

erm... here is the link...

menu

LipstickMum · 25/01/2005 12:02

Oooh, that sounds interesting..? Is it a hamper? Or does someone come to your house and cook for you? Can't imagine they would for £31 quid...? Will check it out....

LipstickMum · 25/01/2005 12:06

Looks good and very reasonable, a real variety of food. Perhaps we should ask April what she might like out of all the suggestions; 'meal on board' or voucher for her favourite clothes shop or pamper session.

I like the look of that Lua - I know I'd appreciate not having to think about cooking etc for a few days. But it would be worth getting some ideas from Aprilmeadow as she knows Sweetheart best. I noticed that she posts on the Due in April thread - had a read but she hasn't posted since last week. Shall I pop on there and ask her to come and visit us when she has a minute?

Uwila · 25/01/2005 12:14

Oh jeez. What are you doing? Don't send out menus to a bunch of pregnant women at lunch time.

The blue cheeses chicken thingy for me, please... in about 5 months. sigh....

Uki · 25/01/2005 12:22

Hi Everyone
I haven't read the post for i think a week but it seems, like months - so much can happen. Really upset to hear about sweetheart, soo very sad.
Lovely to send her flowers, it's always nice to know other people are thinking of you.
After two miscarriages i still worry every day about my baby, i can't dare have caffeine or a drop of alcohol coz i would worry more. I'm also worried to find out sex as have weird ideas about people not being able to carry girls or vice versa.
April you sound like a great friend. I wish you and especially sweetheart strength.
Look after yourselves.
sending love from Australia Uki

Scraggy, I read on the stats thread that you would like 3 children all within a year of each other Does that mean that when this little one is born you hope to be pregnant again when it is 3 months old?? Then repeat that when the middle one is 3 months??? Good luck

Charley I bought Prescriptives 'Line Preventor' I think it's called, a serum and I don't know about lines but it is certainly helping with the moisturisation problem which is why I bought it

Great, so not only I have the biggest bump of all, but I am also the oldest of you lot!
Noway I am putting my stas up!

JonahB · 25/01/2005 12:41

Cobweb - congrats on your boy news!! Three little boys will be so lovely. Good luck also for all the scans that are happening this week.

Bubb/Mrs Wed, thanks for your baby kicking notes. Its always reassuring to find out you are not on your own .

I think the food idea sounds lovely for sweetheart. I know I'd be really grateful if someone arranged that for me.

Someone asked about cravings. My latest is definitely fish finger sandwiches with loads of mayo, cucumber and lettuce. I just can't eat enough of them. Including today!! That is usually followed by a sackful of cashew nuts and prunes. Oh no, I've got us onto food now......

LipstickMum · 25/01/2005 12:44

Lua, you don't know that you are the oldest and anyway, we couldn't give a sh*t (unless of course you are that woman who gave birth recently after reversing the menopause and having IVF at 67, I thought that was slightly gross personally!!) Please put your stats up, it really helps get things clear in my mind as to who everyone is!

OP posts:
Uwila · 25/01/2005 12:57

Go on Lua, confess.

charleypops · 25/01/2005 13:26

Yeah, come on Lua don't be shy! I'm getting on a little bit for my first I suppose...

Lua · 25/01/2005 13:28

All right, all right...!
I just meant to be cheeky! I'll put it up!
I am probably technically older, but not by that much!

LipstickMum · 25/01/2005 13:30

By the way, someone on the stats thread said they were hoping for a VBAC... what the hell is that? I asked dp and he didn't know, just started making something up which is very re-assuring coming from someone in the medical profession

OP posts:
Lua · 25/01/2005 13:33

It wasn't me...
But VBAC is vaginal birth after a c-section

Ok, now I really need to get to work!!!!!

LipstickMum · 25/01/2005 13:34

Thank you!

WARNING - LONG MESSAGE

It's taken me ages to read everything!! I had to get a pad and pen and make notes as I was catching up so I could respond to everyone!!

I like the good, sound advice on the rocking Uwila and Welshie. Makes perfect sense, just wouldn't have ever thought of it!!

Lippy - Sadly dp is a smoker and no matter how hard he tries, I am resigned to the fact that when baby arrives he will continue to smoke. He has no "willpower" apparently... grrr. I gave up 3 years ago, but that's another story. Anyway, as I am paranoid about SIDS due to his smoking we are going to invest in one of those under cot detector thingies that sound an alarm if there isn't any movement for 20 seconds, so hopefully baby will be ok and I can sleep soundly.

Am planning on hopefully having this one, then getting pg 3-6 months later, if my body can take it!!A 15 month gap would be good I think, although with our silly school years it would mean that the eldest would be two school years above the middle one!

Katz - Good idea with the bed time story - I hope pg brain manages to retain it til they are old enough!!

Tripbot - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Uwila - BT do digital monitors, which were reduced last time I looked (have been paranoid about monitors). They are supposed to cut out all the static.

MrsW / Teabelly - I am quite worried that babay will take after dp and be a complete pain when it comes to food. I think I could cope with anything else but a baby that wouldn't eat would really get to me. Hopefully, they'll spend so much time with me, that they'll get my good eating habit!

Cobweb - Glad you're back! Congrats on your little boy.

Lippy / Charley - We're not married either and have no intention of being married for a very long time. Being a tax person I can't see any benefit in being married and being deeply aetheist ((sp?) or is it agnostic?), very unreligious anyhow, dp doesn't see the point. We got engaged in the summer as I didn't want people to think we'd had an "accident" and wanted them to know we'd decided to be "together forever" before we got pg, although it didn't stop LOADS of people saying "So, when are you getting married then?" Grrr...

Yesterday was definitely NOT the most depressing day. I can vouch for this as my boss decided yesterday to move our office to Swansea!! In fact, it's just the next couple of streets away, so I'll be able to walk to work and have lie-ins! Added to that dp will be based about 5 doors away AND the best bit is that there is a fab nursery backing onto it!! I am sooooooooo lucky!!! So yesterday has to be the BEST day of the year so far!!

Sorry for the additional length of my post! Will try to get back to normal now. x

teabelly · 25/01/2005 13:57

Afternoon girls,

Cobweb welcome back. Congrats on your little boy, glad all's ok.

Sooo Welshie are you going to admit to having a little girl or am I gonna be the first to say it on this thread?? Yep just back from the scan and we're having a GIRL woohoo!!. I'd really thought it was another boy...when the mw checked it's heartbeat she had confidently said it's below 140 and she'd place money on a boy...should have taken her bet then I'd have money and a girl!!

Tribpot hope you're having a fab birthday.

Better go coz I've lots of family to phone now...will catch up with you later.x

Scraggyaggy · 25/01/2005 14:02

Teabelly!!! Wow!! How cool is that! The first to announce a little girl! Calls for a bit of a celebration! x
