Katz, thanks for your email. I have replied but also said I would post on here my suggestion for luch tomorrow. Basically all I suggested was that at lunch we give our doatios to someone, and they send off 1 cheque to Katz, makes it a bit simpler. I'm happy to send a cheque.

I think I'll be too scared to go home with a baby

LipstickMum · 30/01/2005 21:31

I know Charley, I was too, but I knew if I hung around at the hospital with people helping me all day and night, I'd feel even worse about going home 3 days later. But, that was our decision.

I can't even spend longer than 10 mins in Pushchairs in John Lewis without having a mild panic attack and having to leave. Felt like crying today when I was there - it's all so alien. Honestly - I'm pathetic especially at my age!! . Can't even ask where the maternity wear is without stammering and going red.

Had to go and calm down in the pet dept

charleypops · 30/01/2005 21:45

I think I'd like to stay in hospital with the baby for about 18 years

LipstickMum · 30/01/2005 21:56

lmao You're mad! But you've decided on the Bugaboo right?

HOnestly, once you've been inside the hospital for 24 hours giving birth you'll be begging them to discharge you!

Hi Lips

Only joking (kind of!). I had a Stokke (pushchair) moment earlier today and posted a thread about it. Throughout the course of the day (and that particular thread) I've been through Stokkes, Bugaboos, and I'm currently back to Janes - they have a new one.....

Uki · 30/01/2005 23:30

Hi Charleypops Hi Everyone
Wow I had like 400 messages to read since my last post. I Had a broken computer for a while. Anyway CONGRATULATIONS on the boy pink and the girl for Teabelly How exciting!!!
I got given great big bag of baby clothes, alot of boy stuff and still have 19 weeks to see if it will be good or not. Apart from that have had glucose/ diabetes test as am in high risk group because my dad has it, 3 blood tests in 2 hours and yucky sugary drink that if you didn't have diabetes before, you mighthave it after- not fun and have to do it again at 28 weeks!!!
Also forgot to put my age in stats I am 29 turning the big 30 in April. Bye for now Uki

charleypops · 30/01/2005 23:40

Hi Uki! Nice to see you on line again! Hope all's well with your blood sugar/diabetes stuff, it doesn't sound particularly pleasant, but I think I've heard that this sort of imbalance can just happen during pregnancy, then go away again?

So you're not planning on finding out the sex then? Some of you have so much willpower!

Uwila · 31/01/2005 06:27

Good morning, everyone! Thought I'd be the first to post today.

Charley, I like Janes. No idea what a stokes is. I had a look at John Lewis over the weekend, and if I was going to invest in a big clunky posh pram (which I'm not, still onto the MAclaren techno classic because I might still want it 6 months time), but I would go for the Silver Cross Three wheeler (which actaully has 4 wheels but fron two are close together).

Scraggyaggy · 31/01/2005 06:35

Morning!

Uwila - Am jealous. You've nicked my early morning slot!! LOL

Will catch up and post later. x

LipstickMum · 31/01/2005 08:57

Charley, I have the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair, which is very cool, but don't know anything about the travel system or whatever they do. What's the new Jane like???

I'm not even thinking about buggies this time round. Instead I am in toddler bedroom furniture hell. I have found a couple of beds I like for dd, which will be versatile enough for a girl or a boy. The biggest problem is finding a decent wardrobe to match it. Preferrably, I would like a tallboy, i.e. not full height Can I find one to match the bed? Can I heck
I've checked out aspaceuk.com, no matching wardrobe, Next, John Lewis, Kiddicare, Urchin, Wigwam Kids all the usual suspects. Anyone any other ideas?

DD is being very clingy today and insisting on being carried everywhere, not to mention fiddling with the computer. Mind you, she's discovered a few shortcuts that I didn't know about !!!

katzguk · 31/01/2005 09:08

morning all

DAtoys.co.uk have some furniture at the mo, we're just going to buy some cheap ikea PAX wardrobes for our todddlers bedroom, stacks of storage space because you design the inside layout.

I have been looking at the pushchairs in mothercare but since we don't need one its furitless but i have fallen in love with the quinny one which takes a maxi cosi car seat, the handle is multipositional so baby can face fowards or backwards look good but it not avaialble until march!

Uwila · 31/01/2005 09:30

Lippy, have you tried argos.co.uk or index.co.uk. Not sure what you are looking for. We have a white cot and changing table. And dd and ds(new baby) will be sharing a roo,. So I am going to buy a cheapo pine dresser/chest of drawers and paint it white. Then I'm going to go get some paint to match dd's duvet (red, blue or gree) and add some kiddie handprints to it. A friend of mine did this with her dd years ago and it made a really cute keepsake. I'll probably also repaint the toy chest to match. I painted it for dd's first Christmas, but it's been scribbled on with blue crayon.

LipstickMum · 31/01/2005 09:35

I haven't tried those yet, although one website (Kiddicare) had a few beds from index I think. I am just after plain white wood, not too expensive, not too cheap. I know the problem; I'm too fussy Actually, I have found the right bed, it just didn't have a matching wardrobe like all the others did... why???

Boring furniture talk. Can we go back to talking about food again..?

OP posts:
katzguk · 31/01/2005 09:37

talk about food well i'm sitting here munching grapes!!

Uwila · 31/01/2005 09:45

I don't know if talking about food is a good idea. I always end up going down to get something to eat I would have been better off without.

welshmum · 31/01/2005 09:54

Morning all, I am completely exhausted. DH has now been away for almost a week and I must admit I was quite glad to drop off dd at nursery today so I could come to work for a lie down!
We had a pretty full on weekend - including a full scale evacuation as a gas main was punctured by a digger and started a rather large fire which was then in danger of causing an explosion. It was all rather challenging for dd who was, by turn, excited and scared by it all.
I'm shattered and in need of TLC big time - feel a bit tearful actually - and quite vunerable for me.

MrsWednesday · 31/01/2005 10:09

Good morning. You have my sympathy Welshmum - it's extremely hard work looking after a toddler when you're pregnant, especially with no help. When's he back? It's been a bit like that in my house too - although DH is around he's been no bloody help whatsoever as he's done his back in again and got a nasty cold/vomiting bug (and it's been like this since last Tuesday). Sigh. I'm shattered today. Mind you, I haven't had to cope with gas explosions - think that would push me over the edge!

No news here - feeling a bit too dozy to think of anything to say! Baby has been kicking like mad over the last fews days, and I've got my scan tomorrow too. There's a few this week isn't here?

Nice to see you back Uki!

welshmum · 31/01/2005 10:34

In my head I know I've got absolutely nothing to complain about. I think it's to do with hormones/tiredness/bit of shock at the fire etc
Sorry your DH's no help Mrs W, but I hope he feels better soon so you don't have him to look after too. Mine is back today so will see him tonight after work - feel too tired to be pleased currently.

charleypops · 31/01/2005 10:36

Bl**dy Nora!
Uwila and Scraggy - what you doing up in the middle of the night??

The thing with the prams is I don't want anything too big and clunky. I had a go with a Bugaboo yesterday and I wasn't all that impressed after all It seemed really fiddly and you have to remove the carrycot or pushchair from the chassis, and I'm not sure how good the little wheels will be on rough terrain. Also the seat angle and handlebar aren't adjustable. Didn't like the look of the bare plywood base in the carrycot either. Nice looking, light and nippy though, but not sure if it justifies the price tag. Think you get a lot more for your money with some of the others...

Oh God Lippy, it was in "cots" yesterday that I found the tears welling up and had to leave. I can't even think about furniture yet! re your new shortcuts - kids are so advanced these days aren't they? I did find some nice matching furniture somewhere - it may have been a link somewhere on MN, I'll have a look.

Aha Katz - you should have a look at my (orginally) Stokke thread - the "Quinny Buzz" is being introduced in John Lewis this or next week. They look quite a bit like the Stokke, (not that it's of any real interest to you as you don't need one )

Welshmum ((((cyberhugs)))) Sounds ike you need a nice sleep first and foremost. Are you lying down at work? That is SO progressive of your bosses! I agree with MrsW - looking after a toddler on your own must be a nightmare when you're preggers.

Mrs W, hope your dh gets better soon . Godd luck with the scan tomorrow! I've got mine on Friday and I'm at once excited and nervous.

Don't suppose anyone here has experience of a Mutsy 3Rider do they?

welshmum · 31/01/2005 11:00

Sadly not actually lying down at work Charley just an inaccurate figure of speech.
DH just called to say he's landed so I feel a bit better now - when he called I just wanted to cry.

Uwila · 31/01/2005 11:43

Quick Welshie, tell him where to find your dd, and get your own plane ticket to some place far far away.

Lua · 31/01/2005 11:45

Morning everyone!

Hugs to Mrs.W and Welshmum! I had a rough weekend with DD too. I think is mostly my fault, because i have zero patience these days... But she is just waking up so many times at night! I am really tired! I am in the same position as you mrs W my DH is around but he has a bad back, which is worse now and I am having to do all the heavy work around the house and chase DD around. At least, he can do the cooking!
So does anyone else having #2 live in a typical 3 bedroom house? I have been struggling to decide what to do with DD and future DS. As in a typical house third bedrrom is quite small. Ok for a nursery, but not enough space for playing. I figure they eventually will have to share the largest room, but can't decide if it is better to keep DD in small room for another year and have them both move in at the same time, or have her move in now, since we are getting her a new bed. My worry is that she may become to possessive of the room if she moves in first.... What are you all doing???

Lua · 31/01/2005 11:46

Hope all goes well in your scans Mrs. W and Charley!
Anyone else with scans this week?

teabelly · 31/01/2005 11:46

Morning all,

Have been sooo busy since friday...and now it's taken me all morning to catch up!!

Been helping my mum to move house...just her and I for the most part (bloody useless removals men, and dh's!!) so it's been a tough weekend...esp as she had the landlady from hell and we had to clean the property to a far higher spec than we received it in to get our deposit back, grrr why is it always like that when you move?? You clean your old property inside and out, and get to the new one to discover that it looks like they've never ever cleaned inside the kitchen cupboards let alone cleaned the skirting boards/doors, old cobwebs... - still I'm sure I've lost a few pounds with all the exercise so I'm going to eat at least half of my Thornton's Casket tonight guilt free!

Welshie - poor you...the worst of it is the preggie hormones make everything seem 10 times worse too - still hope your dd enjoyed the excitement...I think my ds would be beside himself if he saw a real fire engine!

Uki so did you not want to find out what bubba is or do they not tell you?? I have to do the glucose testing too...both my mum and dad have late onset type 2, but I think I only get tested once at 28 weeks?? Still that's once too much as I'm a complete baby when it comes to injections!!

Good luck Mrs W and Charley for your scans this week Anyone else this week too??

Buggies/furniture...I haven't even thought about most of that yet...think we'll just get new furniture for ds's new room, and move the baby into his old room...as for buggies as I have 3 at my house and 1 at nanna's I don't think I'm allowed anymore still that won't stop me looking, he he he!
