Katz, thanks for your email. I have replied but also said I would post on here my suggestion for luch tomorrow. Basically all I suggested was that at lunch we give our doatios to someone, and they send off 1 cheque to Katz, makes it a bit simpler. I'm happy to send a cheque.

OP posts:

teabelly · 26/01/2005 12:39

Yes thanks very much Aprilmeadow and good luck for your own new addition.

Charley - no way where did you put it??

Uwila · 26/01/2005 12:48

Charley, you are going to be ten stone again!

charleypops · 26/01/2005 12:52

That's what I'm scared of! There's no way my skin is as elastic as it was back then and I SO don't want to be dragging acres of spare flesh around with me for the rest of my life. So I will be watching myself like a hawk!!

Tea - I simply looked like a fat pig

charleypops · 26/01/2005 12:54

I'm determined to put on no more than a stone and a half - so that's no more than 8 stone 3!!!! It's gonna be tough.....

Uwila · 26/01/2005 13:00

Charley needs a reality check from all the second timers!

My advice is to make sure you get enough nutrition for your baby even at the expense of a big fat arse and worry about losing it post delivery (and a while after that if you are breast feeding).

JonahB · 26/01/2005 13:01

Trib, my DH is going to be the stay at home dad. I'm planning to go back to work at 7 months. Most people are quite supportive, but I do want to punch the people who start raising their eyebrows at us and clearly thinking that i must be the worst mother in the world to go back working full-time. The urge to ask them to pay my mortgage and bills for me, then i'll happily stay off with the baby is almost too much to bear. Phew. That was a rant and a half. Sorry everyone

Do you know, the pull of sushi is almost enough to make me come to london to join you. I could live off sushi. I'm quite lucky (when not pgt) as i've a japanese restaurant about 50 yards from my front door, so whenever the desire gets too bad, I pop in there for a take-away selection. mmmm.

Charley, I wish I could see the size of your bump to see what everyone is talking about. Are you still in normal trousers then? (go on, make me sick)....

JonahB · 26/01/2005 13:03

Charley, that must mean you weigh 6 1/2 stone normally. You must be TINY. You can share clothes with you're little one.......

teabelly · 26/01/2005 14:10

Jonahb, he he he!

Charley, Uwila's right I'm afraid the average is 30lbs which includes only 7lbs excess fat for mamma - and that's there for breastfeeding...don't set yourself limits you'll only be dissappointed - instead do what I'm doing and gorge yourself on chocolate (she says as she finishes a bag of maltesers!) and plan your 1st weightwatchers meeting for after bubba's here

charleypops · 26/01/2005 14:17

Baby is number one priority, but I have it within me to overeat, so I have to be ultra careful. They say you only need to up your calories by 200 in the last trimester after all and I'm trying to concentrate on quality rather than quantity (it's hard sometimes). I know if I succumbed to my inner greedy ways I would become as depressed as I was back then and there's no way I want to go THERE again ever, esp with a little baby to look after.

JonahB, maybe I got my maths wrong. I'm normally 6st 10 or 12 so maybe I can let myself go a bit heavier... I can fit in dp's neices "fairy" shoes and she's 3!

charleypops · 26/01/2005 14:21

I don't think 1.5 stone's too unreasonable if you look at it percentage-wise? It's withing the guidelines given to me by the hospital...

I know I'll go over, but I think a target will really help me.

Uwila · 26/01/2005 14:29

chareley is actually an elf in disguise. This probably explains why she doesn't work now. But I suspect come Christmas time, we can fin her up in Santas workshop.

Lua · 26/01/2005 14:30

Charley, you obviously should not listen to me since I weigh 10 stone when I am in good form...
But, if your Dp is "normal" size, baby will likely be around 7lb to 8lb no matter what your size is, the same with the weight of placenta, amnio liquid etc.

All guidelines for weight gain I see do take into consideration whether you start off under or overweight. I.e whether you have to spare or not... But it shouldn't be proportional to your size, because baby won't necessarily be, IYKWIM

charleypops · 26/01/2005 14:34

Dp is a well-built 6ft and has a big head

Uwila!

Uwila · 26/01/2005 14:36

you are stuffed, Charley. Prepare for possible caesarean. (which are not as bad as people say)

charleypops · 26/01/2005 14:37

Don't beat around the bush on my behalf U!

mrsflowerpot · 26/01/2005 15:14

Well, back from my scan. Baby is absolutely fine, but I have to go back in 2 weeks for another scan to check the amniotic fluid level, which was right on the lower end of the normal range apparently. They've checked everything that might be causing it if there were a problem and that all looks OK, but they want to check me again. That will make 4 scans so far! I don't actually think there is anything to worry about desperately - I could possibly be a bit dehydrated, not being on tea or coffee I just forget to drink - but of course I'm just going to freak out quietly now for a fortnight. Everything is borderline with this pregnancy - it's going to be a looooong 20 weeks I suspect.

teabelly · 26/01/2005 15:28

Charley - well built eh! no boasting on here please!!

Mrs F, glad all is ok with the babe - so no guesses on the sex then?? If there's no loss of fluid that you've noticed, and the levels don't decrease by your next scan then I agree there's nothing to worry about there...some people carry alot of water and some don't.

Uwila · 26/01/2005 15:34

MFP, congrats on little mr/miss healthy. It's such a relief to know everything is okay. I'm not really even much of a worrier. But poor sweaathearts horrible sequence of events certainly reminded me of life's uncertainties. I was soooo happy when she said "the heart is beating..."

Wonder how Sweetheart is now? Okay, I'm sure she's terrible. But I hope she's coping as well as can be expected.

JonahB · 26/01/2005 17:40

See, I like Teabelly's advice. This is the first time in as long as I can remember when I'm enjoying guilt free eating of everything in site. Normally I'm relatively careful. I know this is a terrible path to follow and i'll be sorry at the end, but b*gger it, I only intend to ever do this twice and there has to be some compensation for no sushi, eggy soldiers or beer. G-d, what i wouldn't give for some eggy soldiers right now, sigh.

Lua, I agree with you on the propotion thing. I'm only 5 foot. All my tall mates look so elegent and fab when pregnant. Although I'm quite petite (although nothing in comparison to our little elf/christmas tree decoration friend here) i'm looking so much bigger than they ever did, just cos I have the same size baby in there and less room to put it in. My dr looked at me when I went to see him and cheerfully told me that he hoped I'd have a 6 pounder for my sake

Mrs F, glad you're little one is fine. I understand your worry though. Its hard cos we all want everything to be perfect and there is plenty enough to worry about without extras on top!

Tessiebear · 26/01/2005 17:52

Evening all!
Jonah - i must confess to giving in and havind Eggy Solidiers!!! I am presently using ALL my restraint to resist the huge amount of Stilton we have in our fridge (DH bought it for me with out thinking!!!!)
Does anyone know what food cravings are supposed to indicate in terms of babys sex???
I have been having DESPERATE cravings for anchovies, capers, lemon juice and egg (preferably all at the same time!!!)
Mrs F - did you find out the sex of your baby - or have any inclings as to what you think it is??

JonahB · 26/01/2005 17:57

Tessie - That's funny, i cracked on the stilton at christmas time. It was sitting there, staring at me out of my M&S cheese selection box, calling my name out......

Tessiebear · 26/01/2005 18:00

Mine is Stilton with port .. i can barely type the name without my mouth watering .

PinkArjuna · 26/01/2005 18:03

Well I have tried to catch up but I have to get going as I have class in a minute. I think your tiny Charley! Me - I'm not going to worry about it till after. I have noticed I am a good deal chunkier. Though I think my boobs have put on the most. The are a bloody F now they are swelling out of control. It is water retention mainly but I feel ugly as hell. My back is getting worse by the day. I don't walk as much cos my back plainly hurts now.

I had my scan today. The baby is extremely healthy and a boy. So all that waking up in the night with meat cravings did have something to do with it The scanner was very impressed and said it was an excellent example of heart growth and she seemed more than impressed, Showing me some sorta thingy which I had no clue about but it made me grin anyway. I was worried something would be wrong. My placenta is in the right place and won't get in the way on the way out she said which is positive. though the little bugger is lying on my bladder hence I can feel the kicks that make me almost pee my pants. He is more sideways! Apprently nothing to worry about as he seemed to be squiggling alot and will probably move.

I hope to have my puter back tomorrow. Though I don't know.

Scraggy - you want to be pregnant again that soon??? I don't think I could do this again for a decade!

charleypops · 26/01/2005 18:04

Mrs FP - congratulations on your scan - sounds like you might need to drink more fluids - boring though isn't it when they don't contain alcohol!

Pink - is your PC up and running yet? How did your scan go today?

There are quite a few titches on here aren't there? We're going to look like a bunch of Spacehoppers by the next meet

Tessie dp came back with a load of beautiful organic brie last night!

Tea - you are rude - I've forgotten what "it" looks like it's been so long...

bubbaloo · 26/01/2005 18:21

mrs FP,glad your scan went well today and congrats on your little boy pink-seems to be an awful lot of boys about lately
