bethoo i feel the same i feel like i am being left to sort out this pregnancy myself

have a mw appointment on 12th for check up only then next hospital scan is 17th july which isnt really that far away

i booked myself a 4d scan it costs £240 but it is worth every penny its on 25th june so im so excited about that

still coming to terms with having a girl cant believe i am lucky enough to have one of each

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 14:29

pistachio - we have told people in RL the sex, partly because we are utterly crap at keeping secrets, and partly because some of my RL friends are also on MN, so it is really a case of all or nothing for us.

Told the in-laws our current name choice yesterday, and they weren't keen. Think they should have kept their opinions to themselves really. Makes me more likely to stick with it .

No heartburn or indigestion yet here, but last time around I used to swig gaviscon direct from the bottle!

hedgepig · 05/06/2008 14:41

afternoon, I found you, I'm a bit tired and not really with it. Nothing exciting to say really I thought I'd just say hello.

1sttimer80 · 05/06/2008 14:48

Hi bethoo... I love the name Maya or Maia :-) it's a gorgeous name.

I;m on eof those supposedly patient people, but not knowing is driving me mad, wish I had found out now ! thing is there is pressure from my husband's side of the family to have a boy and I don't think I could cope with that now. So it my best interest it'll probably be better to keep it a secret!

I'm at work, I feel tired as the little one inside has been kickign til quite late at night and then up again early in the morning. All of a sudden all I want to do is sleep! I was enjoying the energetic phase!

Good luck to those having their scans soon!

jenwa · 05/06/2008 16:17

Afternoon all
had scan and all good well I have a low lying placenta so have to be scanned again at 34 weeks. Will have alook on net but can imagine that if still there buy time baby comes will have to have c-sect as blocking exit!
We asksed if she could zoom in the area for us to look for sex, I thought I saw a willy but when she said she was in that area i was not the bit I was looking at. It never looked anything like between the legs, I thought it was an arm pit or something!!!! Anyway, we asked and she said not 100 % but looking like a girl so I am happy but still, not 100% which is good as was swaying wether or not to know and still not accurate. I am carrying the same as with dd though so had thought it was girl.

Good luck everyone else whos had there scan today.
Off to research low lying placentas!

jenwa · 05/06/2008 16:18

oh and had results through post that no chromosone probs and all ok.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 16:19

Jenwa - I have low lying placenta too.

jenwa · 05/06/2008 16:34

CWSW I just looked it up and now wish I had not! They never seemed worried at scan but when you look into stuff on the net its can be quite scary. I suppose we just wait and see what happens!

bethoo · 05/06/2008 16:40

jenwa one thing i learnt from last pregnancy is do not look up anything on the net! i was a mess and was convinced that something would go wrong like the placenta would come away or the labour would go wrong!
when i had ds 7 weeks check she pointed out that Hayden had one palmal crease and i said what does that mean? she replied, oh a sign of downs syndrome! i was straight on the net and was bloody hysterical! turns out my mother has the same thing so it was passed on genetically! so keep off the net! if there is any concern you would be told.

bethoo · 05/06/2008 16:41

milf where do you live? i am in Bulford. perhaps we could meet up for a coffee or a macdonalds? (cheap date! )

sambrads · 05/06/2008 17:07

i am jealous of all of you living so close to each other i live in northern ireland so no were near anyone else

glad all is well with the scan jenwa

the scanner told me she was not 100% a girl but then 2 other scanner people came in to get paper work from the room and over heard us talking about it they said well let us have a look and they agreed it was a girl

will know better when i go for my 4d scan

bethoo · 05/06/2008 17:09

sambrads i used to live in Holywood down the road from Belfast and i loved it. i you!

bethoo · 05/06/2008 17:14

isttimer80 thanks for that, i guess they are now the running faves so will have to see which one it is i will end with if any.

jenwa · 05/06/2008 17:31

bethoo Yes staying off the net researching! Will trust them at hosp, they were not panicked.

sambrads whens your 4d scan? how exciting. I will get to see baby again at 34 weeks so can check again then.

07mumstheword · 05/06/2008 17:40

CSWS I'm being completely nosey but I've gotta ask what your name choice is? If you don't want to say I completely understand but I love to hear about names.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 17:44

Jenwa - the vast majority of low lying placentas sort themselves out during the pregnancy, so don't worry about it, and remember not to panic if you get some bleeding. My hospital simply said that they would admit me until I'd gone 24 hours without a further bleed.

07mtw - current front runner is Dominic Elliot, so nothing obscure for them to turn their noses up at!

Hi all - i don't have my scan until next friday, so i'm very of all of you who have had them!

I had an uncontrolable urge to buy baby clothes today but resisted, think i may wait a few more weeks....maybe

hansnava · 05/06/2008 20:18

hi all
i wish this baby would make up its mind whether its going to be hyper or lazy. yesterday it moved non stop all now today nothing not even a little hardly there tap.

ive got my scan on monday morning and im nervous about it. r u allowed to take children in with u. my appointments at 8am so we will have to leave about 7am as its rush hour and there will be no one to look after dd at that time

Personanna · 06/06/2008 03:55

Hello all - thought i'd finally start contributing to MN rather than just lurk!

Am expecting DS2 around 24th October (although had 4 scans (living in Peru so they charge me for the priviledge!) and each one said different dates - was breastfeeding when got pregnant, so unsure of dates). Had 4th scan yesterday and even got to see the baby in 4d which was amazing (the scanner dude wanted to show off the equipment to a friend). After I got over the distinct alien resemblances, he actually looked very cute rubbing his face!

Had DS1 18 months ago at 32 weeks, so praying that this one will stay in a bit longer this time! Would love a homebirth if all goes well - everything is so high intervention here in Peru - well over 70% of people who give birth in clinics have C-sections!

Had second Branson Hicks contraction this morning - belly went all tight. According to info I read on babyworld this is normal - anyone else getting them? Just makes me worry slightly because I managed to get to 4cm dilated last time at 28 weeks without feeling a thing - just had lots of tightenings that I thought were nothing and then a bit of water leak (what they call a hind water leak, cause my waters didn't actually break) and then told 4cm dilated!

Jambers99 · 06/06/2008 07:39

Welcome Personanna, what's it like living in Peru? I went there on holiday about 10 years ago but things seem to have been quite unsettled there in the last few years.

myjob, most envious of you living in Poole. We went on holiday in Dorset last month and spent 3 days on Brownsea Island (DH works for John Lewis who own an employee-only hotel on the island).

hansnava don't worry about taking dd to the scan. I took DS to my 12 week scan since like you it was at 8am so no choice, and he'll be coming to the next one on Tuesday since it's his day off from nursery. As long as your dh is there to stop her unplugging any essential equipment then it should be fine!
