bethoo may not bother with the ante-natal classes then. I couldn't do any of the relaxation/joga stuff anyway just wanted to try & get the breathing right so don't end up with a really sore throat this time with all the screaming!
sambrads really don't believe in anything superstitious, so my advice is go if you want to, maybe your family are just trying to push you away from the stressful situation that often goes with funerals, if you feel 'up to it' then it has to be your decision. Personally I try to avoid funerals at all costs, I offer to baby sit for children etc... but's that's because I just can't bear all the sadness that goes with them, definately nothing to do with any kind of superstition,my thought's are with you xx

Lozza70 · 20/07/2008 16:39

Afternoon ladies! I was hoping for a nice day out in the garden today but everytime I sit out it starts to rain within 10 mins!

I'm really struggling and after some advice on the buggy front. We are after something reletively compact but that will take a MaxiCosi car seat. How did you decide on your first buggy? Hoping not to spend vast amounts of money on it.

jenwa · 20/07/2008 18:27

CWSW - I thought you said Dominic? Thats lovely too.

Sambrads - Neverheard it being bad luck, I think you should go if you want too. You may regret it if you dont and you may also want to help support DH.

I went to NExt yesterday (5am) did get lots for dd1 and 2 outfits for baby but thats all I am getting her as she will have all dd1's clothes and she has loads!!!!!!!

Jenwa - Dominic was previous front runner, and is still one of the 3 main contenders (3rd is Lawrence), but currently swaying towards Duncan as we prefer its shortening (Duncs) to 'Dom', which seems a little inevitable.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 20/07/2008 20:35

Evening

Seems we are all onto Names and new prams - D-day approaches!!!

DH and I are having a nightmare with names and cannot agree. Hopefully we will come up with something by the time she arrives.

Today we went to a car boot sale and ended up buying a Silver cross pram - not what I had set out to do at all! But the pram was there in lovely condition - carry cot and seat unit, rain cover, cosy toes and sun shade (carry cot unused) - I think my hormones took over.

We got the price down from £150 to £120 the woman was practically crying she was being encouraged to sell it by her Mum (or she was a great actress trying to get the best price!) Anyway I have never owned a buggy where the baby can face me so I love it. Then the in-laws said they are buying it for us as a present for baby so I feel less guilty now.

Will be keeping my Micralite for public transport use etc. Dh is insisting the others must go so if anyone wants a quinny, jane powertwin or Urban detour let me know.

bethoo · 20/07/2008 21:28

dont tempt me bigmouth but i am looking for tandems anyway! have seen an ad for the bambino tandem though in the review i read the wheels come off quite easily.ideally would like a phil and teds but so pricey even second hand!
so far my front runner for girls names is Maia (pron my-a) what do you think ladies?

bigmouthstrikesagain · 20/07/2008 21:33

Oh you know you want a Jane really bethoo {wink]...

Maia is a lovely name, it means Mother or Earth or something doesn't it?

bethoo · 20/07/2008 21:35

yes its sticking with the mythological theme i seem to have going! well with my animals!
is your Jane a tandem then?

bigmouthstrikesagain · 20/07/2008 21:41

yes like this one I bought it 2 1/2 years ago before dd was born haven't used for over a year. I am going to start going through my shed to find all the bits and pieces for it.

bethoo · 20/07/2008 22:12

i heard it is quite heavy? hard tolift up kerbs. did you find that?

bethoo · 21/07/2008 09:20

for those of us with leg cramps i have cut this from a website:

Some women develop restless leg syndrome in their third trimester.
This is sensations such as crawling tingling or even cramps and burning inside the foot or leg - often in the evening and at night disturbing sleep and making the mother feel she needs to get up and walk around. No-one knows what causes this harmless but irritating condition.

so no need to worry

my bump has it appears grown overnight and i am almost waddling!

ronshar · 21/07/2008 10:25

Morning ladies.

I have had lots of comments this weekend. OOO arent you blooming seems to be the favourite!!!! I think that means crikey you were not that massive last time I saw you.
We havent even begun the names thing. I am rubbish at it. DH normally does the thinking and I get to say yes or no, much easier

MyJob, a home birth is fab. such a different experience from hopspital. You have to trust both yourself and the midwife loads for it to work. The midwives should have a home birth pack to give you. It has lots of info about risk procedures etc.

Sambrads, when I was working I saw lots of dead bodies and both of my pregnancies were text book. It was only when I stopped work did I have probs! I still havent worked that one out. I would go to funeral if it is what you want to do.

bethoo · 21/07/2008 10:59

well do not worry as i have how do we say ballooned blossomed over the weekend so much so that non of my low waisted trousers are comfortable anymore, bit restricting when i sit down! feel like a right bloater! feel paraniod in the bedroom lying on my side like a beached whale in the spooning position since i cant move!

ronshar · 21/07/2008 11:09

Yes it is that very graceful, heave ho in the morning to get up.
I love not being able to get off the sofa without having to shuffle to the edge and push up in the manor of a fat old man

I have had to resort to the over the bump elastic waist bands. Rubbish. I didnt have these problems with DD's.

I did go out on Sat night in H&M dress. I was all bump and breasts mind you. Almost put DH off his dinner. Our male friend who was with us had to sit next to me as he didnt want to stare all night.. I am thinking about getting them fixed after baby born. I am liking the breast action

theminxy1 · 21/07/2008 11:34

Just posted elsewhere and was encouraged to join the October thread (don't know what has taken me so long). Not quite sure how I join exactly but here I am! I'm due 18 Oct and have a 2yo DD already.

I feel like I have ages to go - doesn't help when people say 'you can't have long left' and then look at me in horror when I say I still have 3 months left!

4andnotout · 21/07/2008 11:40

Hi Minxy Ihave even longer im not due till the 26th Do you know what you are having? We are having our 4th dd so nothing for me to buy really I keep pestering dp for a pink camo phil & teds vut he wont relent

Lozza70 · 21/07/2008 13:04

Hi

Someone mentioned on the thread a week or so ago a suppliment you can take to boost your iron levels. I cannot find the message but does anyone know what this is? Thanx

Bethoo love the name Maia and was on my shortlist but DH is set against it as he thinks it is too like our niece's name, Marnie BTW, which I don't agree.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 21/07/2008 13:11

myjobismum is this your first baby? it is ours and we're inclining more and more towards a homebirth, despite our hospital having a full on home from home birth centre - even DH has gone from not even wanting to consider to wanting to have baby at home....are we insane? to be honest the only bad thing I can think of is if something drastically awful goes wrong, will I always blame myself for being at home?

we decided on names so long ago, really wish we hadn't in some ways but we don't like any new names we come up with - got a choice of three for each sex

jenwa · 21/07/2008 13:38

bethoo, lovley name. We like Phoebe Jasmine.

I am struggling with a tight pain under left boob, like a rib digging in! Not sure what that is but bothers me when I lie down or sit scrunched up!

bethoo · 21/07/2008 13:42

theminxy welcome and glad you are here, the more the merrier! and there are certainly alot of us around. it was very cold in January!

i had my iron levels taken on thursday so just awaiting the news that i have aneamia, not surprised if i do since i rarely touch red meat if any meat at all during preg unless chocolate contains iron! well the dark stuff does but i am partial to milk!

bethoo · 21/07/2008 13:43

jenwa sounds like you have a limb sticking you there, i have that occassioanlly and have to physically push it down otherwise i cant hunch over my computer!

boolean · 21/07/2008 13:45

Hello all, just discovered this thread. I am 29 weeks today, due 6th October with my first.

I can't believe how organised everyone seems to be - birth plans written, bags packed, buggies bought...

loulou33 · 21/07/2008 14:23

Hi all
Lozza - its called Spatone. Tried to get some from my local health food shop but you have to buy it in bulk (24 litres!!!) so bought some floradix iron formula instead. The iron tablets (pregaday) i was taking have gone in the bin as they were making me soooo sick i couldn't eat, floradix is ok so far and no more funny coloured poo either

I am currently trying to persuade my gp to give me spatone or floradix on prescription as floradix is £10 a bottle for less than 2 weeks supply. Have been eating spinach with lots of vit c so i am hoping this will help as i can not afford that much for iron supplements.

One of my work colleague who i dislike shouted down the corricor at me just now 'god, you're huge' How dare she the old witch, i wanted to say 'yep and you're still a b' but i didn't just smiled sweetly and ignored her!!

Hope you're all alright and enjoying the sunshine
xx

perkypopsy · 21/07/2008 15:12

Hi Everyone fab to read all the messages! I love the fact that you are all saying eveything i have been thinking!
bethoo my under bump trousers are off limits now - too uncomfortable when minipops kicking (or punching?) down there! managed semi-missionary this weekend - was v. proud of myself - and thought of you and rosebury - naughty pregnant minxes of the Due october thread .
I bought a bugaboo last week - was extortionate but in laws paying and they wanted it so who am I to argue - really needed some retail therapy last week to get me through the week and that hit the spot perfectly - nothing like spending someone elses money!

I have actually been buying like crazy - am soooo naughty . Got some tops and nighties etc from maternity - tried to look for baby stuff but my time ran out - bad mummy!!! Also got a couple of things for me to wear in M & S sale - am thinking is worth it cos am working as near to end as poss so need to continue looking semi presentable - its my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Got some suits for minipops from there too - so soft and newbornish was in tears in the isles - get all flummoxed though with what to buy so going to stop until baby here and can choose proper coulours at last!

Feeling properly big now - just what I have been looking forward to all these years - cach myself in mirros or in a window and can't stop grinning cos that is REALLY ME!!!!!!!!

lozza I used spa tone when had really heavy AF - went well in orange jucie - but does come in huge boz and is v. expensive!
