bigmouthstrikesagain · 03/06/2008 09:58

Don't worry star6 I am currently freaking about what we will do with 3 dc under 5!

I am far from a wonder mum but thank you very much

You will have a big learning curve with one new baby but I am sure you will be fine - most of us are. Enjoy this first pregnancy as if you do it again it is with other children to look after so you do not get to concentrate on the bump so much (understatement alert!!).

KSal · 03/06/2008 10:15

Hi, i am also happy for my location to be in - its Hitchin.

Re the MATB1 you should be able to get it from the 21st week. I hope to get mine at my MW appt next week so i can apply for permission to use the first class seats on the train!

Also you would need to provide it to your employer (if you're an employee) at least 15 weeks before due date, so 28th week is way too late.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 03/06/2008 10:52

My location is Mid-Beds

AandMsmum · 03/06/2008 12:44

Afternoon all!

07mumstheword you're going to have to wait for me as although due October, based on my track record my babies don't come on time, I've been induced twice now so not concentrating to much on my due date to avoid disappointment!

loulou33 · 03/06/2008 12:46

Hi all,

I use nature babycare nappies as they are biodegradeable (also biodegrad bags and wipes from co-op) so get best of both worlds. They take 18mths to 2 years to biodegrade although they do have to come from denmark by sea!! They also have no chlorine or other chemicals in so less chance of nappy rash and ds is prone to this with his sensitive skin (bless). Moltex aren't biodegrad in normal landfill, only the packaging is!! They do breakdown in composter i think... Bambo are great as well and do biodegrade but smallest size were far too big for my ds when he was newborn.

I have never tried re-useable cos of all the washing and drying (and we have no tumble drier as the eco-warrior in dh wouldn't allow that!!)

Must fill in my mat leave request this week and await matb1 - oh joys...

hope you're all well and bumps are growing, mine certainly is!!

AandMsmum · 03/06/2008 12:48

Also I got my MATB1 at 20 weeks last time, the lady that did my scan wrote it for me, so hoping for the same today.

I've got 11 weeks left at work as I'm taking 4 weeks holiday before my mat leave kicks in when I'm 36 weeks, I felt this time I needed a bit of extra time off, last time I didn't have a toddler to entertain and just slept! No chance of that this time around..

hey ladies....i introduced myself on last thread but can I be added to the EDD's please...21st October, 1st baby which will be a surprise!

Happy to add location too...I'm in south-west London and hopefully giving birth at St Thomas'

am hoping to do reusuable nappies but it's a such a minefield with so many!! from what I've heard it depends on baby to baby so we'll use biodegradable nappies til we wor out which reusables are best..got to work out a better washing system though as we're eco warriors without a tumble dryer or dishwasher too!

I'm still feeling nothing, although 20 weeks today..can't help worrying and just hope at my scan it show my placenta's in the way or something..waiting to get scan date from St T's as I'm transferring hospitals from St George's...though will prob end up giving birth in coventry as we're going to my SIL's wedding 2 days before due date!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 03/06/2008 13:25

It is possible to manage disposables w/out a dryer - I did for a year or so (we have one now) - outside when its dry on the airers inside as said by pistachio - but you need a few more nappies and try to use the quicker drying makes (the Nappy Lady website will give tailored advice free of charge). Anyway this is probably more than enough discussion about nappies for now!

hansnava · 03/06/2008 14:32

afternoon,

can i ask if there r ne ladies on here who had a vbac delivery?
if so can u tell me how long they leave u if u go after ur due date? i know they dont induce u so just wondering how long i will be left for till i have to have another csection?

07mumstheword · 03/06/2008 14:48

I'm really starting to feel little kicks now

I'm happy for location to be added to the stats it's interesting to see where everyone is. I'm in Bristol.

AandMsmum My DD was 4 days early so I'm hoping not to have to wait around again this time.

07mumstheword · 03/06/2008 14:49

Can I ask what is VBAC delivery

Jambers99 · 03/06/2008 14:59

Hi Hansnava - haven't had vbac myself (obviously, because only one dc!), but a good friend has. She managed to go about 2 weeks over before then giving birth naturally, but had to be quite assertive about not being forced into having another c-section. Luckily by the time she got to the final exam before they were going to insist on c-section, she was in the very early stages of natural labour so they let her continue.

hansnava · 03/06/2008 15:38

mumstheword vbac is vaginal birth after csection

hansnava · 03/06/2008 15:40

thanks jambers.

jenwa · 03/06/2008 15:58

CSWS Yes in Worcester. How long have you been away from here? I moved here when I was 4 so been here most my life.

07mumstheword · 03/06/2008 16:23

Thanks Hansnava I thought vaginal birth but couldn't work out the rest

Those on your 3 + pg's has anyone had vaginal birth and csection? If so if you had a choice 3rd time round which way would you choose?

pepperrabbit · 03/06/2008 17:05

afternoon al,
I have only just found this thread - it did look suspiciously quiet on the old one!
My doctors are refusing to give me my MATB1 till 22+ weeks and employers really need it this Thursday becuase of hols, but def before 25 weeks.
Most p'd off as tomorrow I'll be 21+5 and could go to surgery and pick one up without troubling them for an appt but they won't do it - can't even get past receptionist to speak to midwife .
ANyway to cheer myself up, I rang HR to see if this was the end of the world and they weren't that bothered as long as it's only a week or so late. BUT, they calculated if I started mat leave as early as poss and took all hols in advance - I could have left last week!!!!
Tee hee, just wait till I tell my boss that...

star6 · 03/06/2008 18:41

what's a matb1 and why do you need it?

pepperrabbit · 03/06/2008 18:52

It's the official form confirming your pregnancy and EDD that any employer needs to be able to pay you maternity pay (and more importantly to them I suspect, to claim the statutory bit back from the gov...)
Proves you haven't just got a pillow up your jumper

AandMsmum · 03/06/2008 19:32

Hi!

Had my scan today! Very exciting, I didn't realise how much I wanted to know the sex until I saw our baby but still didn't find out as DH didn't want to know, so feeling a bit hard done by.. It was so lovely to see the baby, he/she was very active and all the bits in the right place and looking good and healthy.

Now though I'm going to start getting impatient but only 20 more weeks, if they go as fast as the first 20 I'll be fine!

Got my matb1 today roll on 24th aug when I get to leave this place!!!

star6 · 03/06/2008 20:09

Congrats AandMsmum!!! That's great!
we have ours on friday.... and we both want to find out the sex. So excited! But I just found out that DH might not be able to come - he just made career change and is just starting and would have to take whole day off because of travel time and it's right in the middle of the day... and not good at this time for him to take a whole day...

accessorizequeen · 03/06/2008 20:15

star6, hope dh can make it, tis v.nice to have them there

congrats on successful scan, aandmsmum!

07mum, I'm on pg no.3 and had e section with ds1, vbac with just g&a for ds2. Obviously I'm having twins so situation a bit different, but I'd much prefer to have another vbac with more drugs! If I have to have elective, then so be it, but I recovered far better from vbac emotionally and physically as well as bonding with baby straight away.

07mumstheword · 03/06/2008 20:23

Thanks Accessorize I'm really interested in finding out a preference from ladies who've had both as I'm due to see my consultant next week and it's nice to have "real" opinions.

Star6 I hope your DH can make it to the scan on Friday.

AandMsmum Congratulations on a healthy scan.

Flum · 03/06/2008 20:32

Ok panic comment here. This is my third baby. I am 19 weeks plus a day or so. I just am not feeling this baby. I should be by now shouldn't I?

I have 20 week scan on Thursday so will find out one way or another whether baby is still ok or not.

But of course I would feel better if other peopel sais they weren't feeling either. Don't say it jsut to make me feel better. I will be ok with it. I will be heartbroken but I will be ok with it. My SIL found out her baby had died at the 20 week scan it had stopped growing about 2 weeks before, not pains or symptoms of miscarriage at all. I feel like I am almost expecting it.
