Well I've had a fun day .

Good news from my scan is that it looks like my placenta has probably moved up already. Bad news is that he is breech. Although the sonographer seemed to think that he still had plenty of time to turn, the midwife did say that she'd much rather he were the right way round by now. If it's not one thing it's another!

Diabetes is still manageable though difficult thanks snowymum. I think it's one of those things where you just do what you have to do.

Leaking colostrum not uncommon at this stage I'd say, so very much doubt you imagined it star. Nothing to worry about at all .

bethoo · 07/07/2008 21:22

star6 i have had leaking nips but ony if i give them a squeeze! it is just the preg hormones getting ready to produce colustrum and milk. in my last pregnancy i had yellow, white and clear globules coming out at the same time!!

bethoo · 07/07/2008 21:29

tedmundo having orgasms can cause cramping like BH, it is good though as having an orgasm increases blood flow through the placenta so your bean gets a gush of nutrients.
csws surely you have plenty of time for baby to move around? are you booked for another scan to see if baby has moved or i guess the mw can feel to see where it lies.
my friend had her 20 week scan today and the babys kidneys were full so she will have another scan and her placenta was also laying low.
does that mena a cs if it has not moved?well i am off to bed in a mo as exhausted. was so tired last night that missed some action!

SmudgeyDoodle · 07/07/2008 21:31

Welcome to libitmum. The rest of you are too efficient. I was reading one post thinking, ooh, that sounds like heartburn but someone beat me to it and then I was going to say about colostrum and very normal to have some coming already but again I'm too late. So, I'm going to have some raspberry cheescake and then go to bed!
CSWS - hope DD elbow is alright and LOL at any chance you might be pregnant!

rowanmac · 07/07/2008 21:33

hi all,
Still here just not managed to catch up with you all since return from hols. i'm glad I'm not the only one swigging peptac from the bottle before easing myself into another uncomfortable night, waking up each time i turn over with intermittant shouts of Mummy from DS in his new room. I can't believe its possible to be more tired than i am now but i suppose when newbie arrives at least I won't have to go to work and try to make my brain work.

I had a few real contractions yesterday along with lots of back ache, scary at 25 1/2 weeks. Have spent this eveing packing bag, finding old knickers and maternity bras. Also sorted most of the incredible pile of clothes that DS had. 8 plastic boxes!
Had the inevitable Aaah moment when I found the newborn size vests and sleepsuits. could my boy really have been that small.

Ds is 2y9m and not quite getting the baby thing. Asked him if he would like a baby brother or sister to play with, gave it some thought and said No , I don't like babies I'll play cars. Has now given it more thought and has decided it might be alright as long as its a boy to play cars with. could be messy come october.

Having had my fun catching up with Mumsnet I've now got the choice between researching the next stage car seat or sorting out invites to DH 40th birthday party. Oh the anticipation

CSWS - surely there is plenty of time for baby to turn round? When I was expecting dd, on week 37 she got herself diagonally across me (transverse i think they call it) and was told that if she didn't turn I'd need a c-section. Luckily she'd turned by the next week....

I'm shattered at the moment - I actually fell asleep in front of dd's bedtime dvd while she ran manically around the living room . I keep waking up in the middle of the night, and then struggling to get back to sleep... So I'm off to bed now, hoping to get a good nights rest....

hansnava · 07/07/2008 22:22

hi star6
its nothing to worry about. i wrote a post on here about a month ago asking the same thing i think its just where ur starting to produce colostrum

star6 · 08/07/2008 08:17

Thanks so much! Got some great feedback from lulumama on the pregnancy thread as well. For anyone else who has had a similar thought... no, leaking early does not mean that you will run out of the important colostrum for the baby once it's born...
I'm a bit that I actually thought that now, but crazy things go through your mind when pg with your 1st!!

firsttimer08 · 08/07/2008 09:21

1sttimer80 i remembered you had your scan this week. Hope it went well.

bethoo · 08/07/2008 09:42

this mornign at 1 am i was rudely awakened by a sudden drop in temp on my foot, on further investigation i had my foot in cat sick!

dont panic about worrying over things, at my labour after Haydne was born by then 27 year old sister thought they put the placenta back inside you for the next baby! and she is university educated!!!!

rach010 · 08/07/2008 11:49

Hi

Not posted for ages, don't know where time goes. I am much the same as you all, suffering with heartburn, only had leg cramp once so far thankfully. Keep getting a stitch when i walk, i must be so unfit!!??

I have put on 1st 3lb and feel massive. Can't wait until 29th August as its my last day at work as i have saved up my annual leave.

Bye for now ladies

Hello all, seems the 3rd trimester is getting a little trying for us all. CSWS, surprised to hear not enough time for baby to turn, I thought it was a fair bit later they worried about breech? Well done for you managing your diabetes so well, I don't think I could give up so much!

I had 27 week scan yesterday to check how the twins were feeding (gaped at m/w when she said that, she meant through the cord!) and there is far too much water around one of them. Consultant ordered me to leave work immediately as risk has gone up of prem birth. So I'm now on sick leave until mat.leave kicks in and feeling a bit sorry for myself. I was finding it v.hard to cope, and not resting enough but not prepared to go off work quite so early! Still, will give me a chance to pack bag and sort out nursery, lots of other things like double buggy etc. I am frightened at thought they could arrive now, have had 2 healthy pg so far and have never considered that twins wouldn't be! Having full ultrasound next week to get a better picture.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 08/07/2008 13:57

morning all!

rach010 I've been getting stitches for ages too, according to pregnancy yoga teacher it's normal and we're not horribly unfit (would like to beg to differ but afraid she was going to agree with me)

Had my 25 week appt today where I fainted, not fun - don't normally have an issue with needles or bloods so not what caused it but m/w was fine. am definately Rh- so anti D booked for week 32....mum dug out my baby notes and sure enough I was apparently positive at birth! hmmmmmmm at least NHS has improved in some areas in the last 25 years!

hedgepig · 08/07/2008 14:08

Accesorizequeen poor you but you are reducing your chances of premature bith by doing what the consultant says. Maybe you could draw up a resting schedule with specific feet up times? Was work Ok about you leaving so abruptly?

CSWS you have lots of time for the LO to move but it is best to try and help things along by not slouching back in chairs, always trying to have your bottom higher than your knees when you sit down (use a cushion) also have a cushion on the car seat. Sitting on a birthing ball is supposed to be good too. It's a bit early to be hanging upside down off the bed yet .

rosebury · 08/07/2008 16:16

hello ladies sorry not been on for a while so busy.

csws you know what the medics are like they have to give you something else to worry about.

accessorize take advantage of being off work you need the rest and time to prepare for what is to come the chances are that your babies will be fine and not prem enjoy the free time as once they arrive you wont have any time at all to yourself.

bethoo trust you, I can always rely on you to be talking about sex but it sounds like you need to give your sister the little talk as you do not know what else she may be confused about.

Memory foam matress fab so comfy.
Leaky boobs no problem at all I have had so many children that by boobs have never stopped leaking probably encoureaged by all the sex and stimulation that they get.

Please remember ladies that giviscon is free it is on prescriiption.

perkypopsy · 08/07/2008 17:41

Hedgpig you are the font of all PG knowledge - mine is breech at 28 weeks but MW says that is fine - but will keep your list for later when am sure to start pannicking

aqueen poor you - I can imagine how you feel - both relieved to be taken seriously but also scared to suddenly have to stop - you never know - a few days on the sofa and you might get used to it
I am here til 38 weeks I reckon - all going well - at least will be able to check up on you all via MN

accessorizequeen I know its hellish when that happens. I was 40 week size at 29 weeks last time and was firmly told by consultant he'd admit me for enforced bed rest if I didn't stop working. I was running a single handed business then. DS finally put in an appearance at 36 weeks and was absolutely fine. i was counting off each week knowing we were more and more likely to be OK. hopefully you can get a bit of relaxation time before they arrive.

accessorizequeen · 08/07/2008 21:51

thanks rowanmac, and everyone else. Now that I've been told, I wonder how I thought I was going to continue for another month really. Like I've been given permission to be tired. Suddenly, like all the rest finding nights uncomfortable, may have to introduce more pillows. Will try your trick, perkypopsy as I find rolling over always hurts and god, it takes forever just to get out of bed!

lol at big pants, pistachio! Knew there was something I forgot to buy (bought huuuuuge bag of pads yesterday as I've learnt from experience!). Oh, the glamour of it all.

OP posts:
SmudgeyDoodle · 08/07/2008 21:57

Glad you're not feeling too bad AQ. Do you still have to do childcare during the day or can you now take it a bit easy? I'm only just starting to think about buying bits and pieces but the big pads are def on the list. Girlies doing this for the first time - go for the big brick ones for the first few days as you'll be really thankful for a bit of extra padding!

bethoo · 08/07/2008 22:02

cant believe some of you are packing your labour bag already! like my last preg i will pack the night before going in but then i was induced so knew when i was going to have him.
i will not be wearing those gopping net disposable pants, i mean i know they are not supposed to be sexy but no dignity as well after what we go through! no i will be using old period knickers, we all have them in our drawers!

accessorizequeen · 08/07/2008 22:03

Big pads no.1 purchase imo! I've also bought some nature baby nappies (about 5 bags I think) as they're on sale everywhere and I don't think I'll be using cloth on dt's for first few weeks/months! Sainsbury's have 1/3 off all nappies at the mo which is great. Bought tiny little newborn vests today, can't believe I could have babies that will fit them, have never bought newborn stuff before. All my ebay purchases from last week arriving in dribs and drabs, I do like having a drawer full of pink!

Smudgey, the boys are in nursery 2 days and my mum still has them one day so I think I'm doing very well and had lots of rest today.

access what does too much fluid mean exactly? is it a sign of labour on the way?

got drenched this morning on way to work that one of the guys took me back home to change. had nto realised that both my boots needed reheeling so my feet were swimming in water!

i went through ds newborn stuff and pulled out the hundreds of vests and gros which were mostly white so will not have pink ones as got over 100 no joke! cant beleive he was ever that small!
