Thanks access and lozzo putting feet up easier said than done but I know that I have to keep it to a minimum otherwise I will pay the price later. I wonder if the gel was wome kind of cooling thing what was it access or what section was it in.

hedgepig · 30/06/2008 22:15

snowymum you are so fantastically well organized. I have lots of stuff from last time I just need to find some space to put it. Do you think I can get an extension built in 6 weeks . So long as his LO is a boy it will be OK for clothes and if it's a girl then blue is a great color for girls!
rosebury I don't think there is much you can do for swelling apart from put your feet up but as you say it is easier said then done.

accessorizequeen · 30/06/2008 22:22

Foot & leg gel was in body lotions department I think. I found it really nice on a hot day, very cooling. Shall look up the brand when I am in my bathroom next!

Morning everyone - obviously haven't posted enough recently, as this thread dropped off the 'threads I'm on'...

Haven't bought anything at all yet, but then again I'm only 22 weeks / 5 months at the moment, so perhaps I'll get the urge to shop in the next few weeks. I get absurdly paranoid during pregnancy, and don't want to buy anything until I know the baby is ok. With DS I didn't even buy a single babygro until I was 34 weeks. With this one, she'll have to make do with hand-me-downs from DS to start with, though I might treat her to some new bibs - DS's ones are disgustingly stained with milk!

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/07/2008 08:44

I never got the whole bib thing Jambers. Was your ds formula fed? Dd chucked up a lot due to her milk intolerance, but a bib would have been wholly inadequate for that (and it was usually on me rather than herself!), and she wasn't a dribbly baby at all (never even dribbles when teething), so we never had use for bibs (needed ones with sleeves when weaning), and yet we were bought loads! I'm assuming that formula feeding results in more milk spillage?

WheresTheAuPair · 01/07/2008 09:00

Morning ladies! Haven't posted in a while so thread dropped of the 'treads i'm on' aswell. Can't believe some of you have put on so little weight . I went to a wedding at the weekend and suffered the 'oo hasn't you got big/another 10lb er then?/not long left now' comments grr. It all seems to have gone mainly on the bump (which wasn't entirely flat since being massively stretched with DS) and looking at the pics from the day I do look about 7 months already
Is anyone else thinking of having a 3/4D scan done? We had one done with our DS and the pics were amazing. MIL has offered to pay for another one as a wedding anniversary prezzie so this baby doesn't feel left out!

We used loads of bibs with DS - we started off BF but he couldn't latch properly so ended up topping up / switching to formula. I guess FF does end up with more milk spillage, and it really stains the bibs. They're all yellow and revolting now. Plus DS was really dribbly, and often had to wear bibs all day to stop his clothes getting soaked through. Thankfully he's stopped dribbling now that most of his teeth are through.

bethoo · 01/07/2008 10:53

i never put bibs on ds as just forgot to put them on! probably went through far too many wet wipes though!

Sallypuss · 01/07/2008 13:46

Hello all. Glad to hear we're all well (swollen bits excepted).

Ladies, you would be very proud of me yesterday. I work in London and have a 1.5 hour commute each way and as it was quite hot here in the South yesterday, I told asked some poor unsuspecting bloke who deemed to park his bottom in the new 'priority seats' (for the elderly, disabled and pregnant), to give up his seat for me. With a very warm pregnant woman bearing down on top of him he didn't know what to say and promptly stood up. How liberating was that...will certainly try that one again.

Oh, and I have a slight confession to make...I've given in to DH's desperation to know the gender of LO and I've booked a 3D/4D scan for the end of July. Completely frivolous and unnecessary but he was driving me insane with his nagging (and they say women are bad ).

On the buying front, the poor child currently has more soft toys than clothes at the moment, never mind anywhere to sleep or transport. We're ripping out our ensuite bathroom and sorting the garden out before turning our attentions to the nursery c. August so have convinced myself it's not worth buying furniture etc until I can put it in the nursery

mybabysinthegarden · 01/07/2008 14:37

Thanks ekka I'll check that out (dh definitely of the more pamphlet than book-length attention span!)

I have piled on a. lot. of weight-- I was dieting before I got pg and I read in scaremongering American book that it's common to put weight on rapidly if you've lost weight just before conceiving. Suppose it doesn't take a rocket scientist (or obstetric scientist) to figure out that if you've been depriving yourself and suddenly have the excuse of 'I need it for the baby!' to fall back on, it's all going to pile on pretty quickly... sigh... eating fairly healthily really at meals but the crap is sneaking in on the side...

jenwa · 01/07/2008 16:40

I am big too so cant understand why some people not long been showing. I have since about 8 weeks! I have a wedding end of month so need to go buy some new clothes for that! Friend has something I can borrow from her friend who is also size 10 but dont want to rely on it so will look in town tomorrow.
Had mad eve yest, daughter tripped over my foot and cut her head open on the door frame so went of to A&E in ambulance and she was mended in hosp. Poor thing, luckily just needed steri striping and glue as neat gash. Just such a shame and hope it does not leave too much of a scar. SHe is off playgroup though so will be treaking to town with me tomorrow. She is fine in herself and you would not even know anything is wrong! They said keep her of playgroup as other children may poke her head!

kookiegoddess · 01/07/2008 17:28

hi all, haven't been on for ages but have lurked a bit. I've had both scans and all going well, haven't found out the sex and am looking forward to a surprise. Just wish someone could tell me if I'm going to get a home birth or not!

Great to hear that things are going well with Oct gang, I'm getting very excited and relieved that there will be people online to chat to when the last weeks of waiting come. Weight gain not too bad, I've put on about 4-5 kg in total, but am definitely craving more sweet things at the moment.

Am starting to do shopping but have found I'm a bit anxious about opening things up so it's all in boxes and bags to be dealt with later on. Have developed a minging cold which has been a hideous experience as I normally take every drug going and hot days haven't helped. It's v hard to accept that olbas oil is the only thing on offer! Have not tried ebay for baby clothes but will have a look later on.

Sorry for ramble but don't have the energy to do anything exept blow nose and type! and talk to bump

snowymum · 01/07/2008 20:03

[growling] I...am...so...HOT!!!!

Ht hot hot hot. And puffy. And hot.

Lozza70 · 01/07/2008 20:24

Very proud of you Sallypuss I'm a fellow commuter all on the tube and am starting to pluck up the courage to ask for a seat. Yesterday evening though I got on and was in front of a guy in the preggers seat and he looked at me and shut his eyes before I could ask I really, really look pregnant!I didn't feel I could ask then Luckily another gentleman who was standing behind me gave him a poke in the arm and asked him to give me a seat.

It was hell down there this evening though. I had to wait in the heat for 7 tubes to go past before I could even get in through the door of one.

I love a bit of warm weather but only if I can put my feet in a lovely swimming pool to cool off

The tube is purgatory in weather like this at the best of times, let alone when you're up the duff. I have had the same thing - men closing their eyes. Some people can be quite simple minded.

I found myself giving up my own seat the other day to a very frail old lady. I didn't really think about it until afterwards - because nice people like us just have manners, don't we? But afterwards I was thinking 'bloody hell, all those other people could have got off their fat, non-puffy arses...!'

KSal · 02/07/2008 08:32

I am also commuting, on first capital connect. I sent them in a copy of my MATB1 and they sent me a letter authorising me to sit in first class on my journey to and from london, as i have a season ticket. Its worth looking into whether any of your train companies do this too.... no help on the tube, but thankfully i only go a few stops.

now.... if only i could remember where i put the damned thing!

bethoo · 02/07/2008 09:18

this may seem like TMI but really want your opinion on this. does anyone else get a stitch when having sex these days? this morning no matter what position we did it in i had to stop moving as it was quite painful. like a stitch on both sides. we tried me on top, had to get off then him on top but then it came back so ended up spooning and even then the stitch was there. and then for hours later even now i get dull aches in the back of both knees like i need to sit down, weird. i was wondering if anyone else suffers like this? am worried it could be a sign of DVT or something! sorry if TMI.
apart from that hope everyone is ok. i walk to work so get plenty of exercise, msut wakl about a mile and a half each morning as round trip dropping of ds then back round again to work. am lucky that i live on an army camp and i work on the one opposite!
went on ebay last night and put a bid in for a Joovy Caboose. one of those american tandem where it is a seat at the front then a seat at the back that doubles up as a board iykwim.
i ma waffling now!!
must get back to pretending to work!

Sallypuss · 02/07/2008 09:41

what is this sex thing you are talking about, I forget now...

Seriously though, I get the 'stitch' you mention just getting out of bed. Sure there's no harm done just ligament trouble...

Emmsy1 · 02/07/2008 09:54

bethoo try not to worry! I get stitches in both sides when I over do it, and when I am having sex! Don't do it very often though! TMI alert! If I have an orgasm I suffer a terrible stitch and Braxton Hicks Contractions start! Last Friday I had a very busy day and was told off a few times by other mums and a teacher for carrying my 3 year old son. That night, every time I moved, I felt pains in my side and I had lower back ache, really thought that labour was going to start very early, just need to take it a little easier!

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/07/2008 12:02

Bethoo - is ex p not an ex any more then?

bethoo · 02/07/2008 12:14

CSWS it is a bit of a tricky one that! he thinks we are in a relationship where as i do not but either way i am happy with just seeing him the couple of times a week for my own selfish reasons {grin] . do not want to live with him as like my own space though he wants us to live together! and to be honest he pisses me off alot but he has a good heart. jsut mentally he is a 16 year old trapped in the body of a thin 36 year old! dare i say it though he is phenominal in the bed! god i sound terrible!

bethoo · 02/07/2008 12:15

so should i be concerned about the achy knees?
does anyone know of any good positions as still like to vary it a bit!

SmudgeyDoodle · 02/07/2008 12:56

Hi all. I've not been near the computer in a week and my goodness, what a lot to catch up on!! Well done for asking for seats on tubes. I only have the bus to negotiate but find that with DS I usually end up standing because otherwise the buggy is in danger of toppling over (might just be the mad Toon drivers!)
DH and I went camping at the weekend and DS went to Grandma's for his first weekend away. All went well apart from that he's now decided he prefers his cot to his bed again after sleeping in a travel cot.
CSWS I never got the bib thing either until DS started teething. He then wore a bib every day from about 4 months til about 15 months (didn't even get any teeth til 14 months but boy did he dribble!!) I also found when weaning that triple bibbing was the way forward - little baby bib at bottom, followed by sleeve bib followed by pelican bib - as otherwise stuff goes down the neck.
I think the knee pain is ligaments stretching Bethoo. No idea about positions though as so long since we did it
