WheresTheAuPair · 21/06/2008 20:23

Hiya- my friend is a midwife who has run her company Active Birth Educators (www.activebirtheducators.com) for the last few years. She offers traditional antenatal classes as well as Natal Hypnotherapy birth preparation classes. I met her through her baby massage classes and we have remained good friends since.
She highly rates the Natal Hynotherapy classes- being a typical cynical midwife she needed convincing that they were worth offering as her reputation is at stake otherwise!! She has seen many women have much better labours as a result and is confident in the results of the classes. I must admit that I have been doing the personal CDs and have definitely noticed a difference already- i sleep really well and have stopped craving junk! As i said in a previous post I'm not doing the full course because of it being my 2nd PG and planned elective CS otherwise i would seriously consider it.

sparklesandnowinefor4months · 21/06/2008 20:33

I was really pleased with the scan pics they are good!

i forgot the pics of my garden were still on there i was asking for ideas about what to do with it and forgot to take them off - DP cuts it btw with his big petrol lawnmower which he's very proud of! men and their toys...

twinklytoes · 21/06/2008 20:59

evening all. again not be around for a while though been lurking and catching up.

think dh must be nesting he's spent the last few weekends completing outstanding diy jobs and deciding on who's going in which bedroom.

I've been enjoying the sales got some nice pieces from H&M and Red Herring today.

Remember ages ago I said we were off to Buck Palace for a garden party? Well its July 15th. I've bought a cream linen blouse from blooming marvellous and on the hunt for trousers. Going to team with black hat, shoes and bag.

SmudgeyDoodle · 21/06/2008 20:59

Evening ladies. Very of your nice holidays in Cornwall (despite car troubles Ekka) and France. DH are going camping next weekend without DS as our anniversary treat
Had a bit of a trauma today. Some fool pushed us off the road on the A1 so we had to drive on the central reservation. Miraculously DH managed to keep the car straight and we didn't crash. We were all fine but I did end up going to the hospital to check baby ok as DH had to slam the brakes on quite hard and I was worried. All ok though. DH not going to be happy about the football, he's half Dutch

sparklesandnowinefor4months · 21/06/2008 21:47

Glad your all ok Smudgey, its frightening when things like that happen

anyway see you later i'm off to watch a bit of crap on tv

loulou33 · 22/06/2008 09:16

mum2jakeyroo - sounds like a crap weekend for you!! have you had chickenpox/shingles?? you're poor dp, its horrible for him but best if you don't get it too (are you more than 20 weeks now - if so i think the risks are less by then but not sure).

mum2jakeyroo · 22/06/2008 11:02

I have had chicken pox. I am 23 weeks but doctor seemed quite concerned and said we are not to share same bed. lol. maybe we will both get a goods night sleep. Got to see mw tomorrow anyway but doc said make sure I make sure i see her abot the shingles

jenwa · 22/06/2008 17:18

mum2jakeyroo sorry your not feeling well, hope you feel better soon. Get some rest

mariekg congrats on scan and baby girl how lovely.

Glad those who went away enjoyed their hols and those still on them CSWS still enjoying them.

We have been sortingout our loft and sorting baby stuff out. DH put up new shed to get stuff out the loft and get it ready to convert. Its going to be a big dusty job and I am dreading it. DH been very good and buying things of ebay to keep costs down but it means he is travelling about now to go pick stuff up. Oh well worth it in the long run hopefully

My ump has been aching and feeling very heavy if standing too long etc, must be muscular (hopefully). Just gives me an excuse to rest!

rosebury · 22/06/2008 17:59

hello ladies nice to see some of you returning to the thread it is quite hard to keep up as we are all so chatty.

25wks now and feeling good albeit heavy, dh is cooking a roast dinner and it smells lovely looking forward to eating it soon.

I am now keeping an eye on the june thread and reading al the labour stories, I love it.

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/06/2008 20:20

Hello everyone. Just a quick post to help me mark where I've read up to!

Nice to see lots of you back who were MIA!

Popsy - I actually had a croissant this morning after your post, and my blood sugar was ok . Was only a small one and had nothing except butter on it, but made a lovely change from egg and toast nonetheless.

Ronshar - I forgot to answer your question about the diabetes. It is proving to be a PITA, but on the bright side, I am no heavier (and poss marginally lighter) than when I got pregnant, so it is good for my weight control. I am still managing to control it through diet, though not massively optimistic about keeping it up right the way through, as the placenta starts to suck up more insulin as it gets bigger in later pregnancy. Most women aren't even diagnosed until 28 weeks, and still end up on insulin. Only time will tell though, and I shall persevere as long as humanly possible!

ronshar · 22/06/2008 22:26

CSWS, at least you arent having to jab yourself yet. I am very impressed at your self control with your diet. I have looked after people who have had diabeties for years who still cant control themselves with food!!

Wow all the building work thats going on. Fingers crossed it is all finished in time
We are trying to sell our house, with no success. We have run out of bedrooms! Bloody housing market. We dont want to make money just buy a different house..

Muslin clothes, of course. My DD1 & 2 still sleep with theirs. DD1 is 8.

Jambers99 · 23/06/2008 08:35

Morning everyone - got my follow-up scan this morning, and am sat at home waiting until it's time to go to the hospital. Have already dropped DS at nursery, and DH has gone to work, so am in the house by myself - can't remember the last time I was on my own! Am able to use the PC without being harassed by a toddler, it's lovely.

Welcome back to everyone who's been on holiday, shame about your car Ekka, and at your incident on the A1 Smudgey. I drive on the A1 every day to work and there are some real idiots, can't believe I don't see more accidents given the way some people drive. Glad you're ok.

ronshar · 23/06/2008 10:45

Good luck Jambers, fingers crossed all ok.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 23/06/2008 10:59

Good Morning.

I am posting from my garden this time as I am supervising the antics of my dc's and avoiding housework - all good.

Good luck this morning Jambers.

I had a bit of a crappy birthday as had to look after a grumpy sleep deprived ds and a miserable chicken pox ridden dd Still all much improved at the weekend when Mum came to look after the dc and dh and I escaped to Camden for some mooching around and a gig in the evening. Which was fun but exhausting.

I fell over quite heavily yesterday but aside from a few bruises I am ok and I landed on bum not bump so ok - but still scary - and I blubbed a bit

Feel huge so I cannot imagine how I will be able to get around in a couple of months.

Funny that several of you are close to Harlow - I lived there in my teens.

firsttimer08 · 23/06/2008 11:49

All the best jambers. Hope it all goes well.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 23/06/2008 12:08

morning ladies....good luck jambers today

rosebury i cooked 1st roast yesterday in ages as am finally happy to eat chicken again, was so so good! also not even thought about looking on other threads for labour stories, i love them!

had a hectic weekend, so jealous of everyone off on holiday...my company's show opens next week so it's manic getting the set up and sorting out tickets (terrified of ticket sales), but will calm down once press night is over and done with...quite comedy cos one of my fellow artistic director is also pregnant so it's cool to compare bumps - we've decided to go ahead with our next show opening 7th Oct which she's directing (due 20th) a bit eeek but should all be fine....maybe we can get good marketing being young pregnant theatre professionals!

Jambers99 · 23/06/2008 12:47

Thanks for all your positive vibes ladies, got the all-clear at the scan this morning. The sonographer said that all looked fine, and basically to forget that they'd ever spotted anything. And it's still a girl

twinklytoes · 23/06/2008 13:23

fantastic news jambers

starting to think I might have to seriously consider a home birth. keep hearing stories that the local hospital is really busy at the moment - a school mum would have been expected to transfer to northampton if she delivered this weekend which is miles away. Neighbour also just said that her great granddaughter delivered but couldn't be transferred to post-natal as no beds. They also needed delivery room so she was made to sit in the waiting room on delivery .
