GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 17/06/2008 12:21

happy birthday girls!

had my scan yesterday too and all is well...baby has long legs like its parents, we asked the sonographer to write down the sex in an envelope so we have the option to find out later if we want to...had to prise it away from DH and hide it before he opened it though! were told to look away when the sonogrpaher looked at the genitals - apparently our baby had its legs splayed for all the world to see!

hasnava ouch at your toe...but good excuse to put your feet up! and lol at LO just moving to keep you happy

ours was having a party last night but much quieter today, think it used up all its energy at scan

sorry firstimer to hear about mixed news, but antibiotics after the birth doesn't sound too bad - hope they can enlighten you more soon

firsttimer08 · 17/06/2008 13:27

jambers99 GirlWithTheMouseyHair rosebury thanks for the reassuring words.

jambers99 I thought of what you had said after your mixed results, when I heard the news at the hospital,. It seems in all likelihood if it doesn't get better before birth, antibitiotics or at worst surgery may be needed. However, although the hospital didn't say anything, i found on the internet that this can be a soft marker for downs. I did not have any other downs testing done as at my 12 weeks scan, i was considered low risk - so I am not sure what to make of this additional information.

The 34 week scan is so long to go

1sttimer80 · 17/06/2008 13:48

Hi all,

Sorry been a bit busy with things.

happy birthday to those who are a year older!

Firsttimer 08.... My baby has a similar thing... all the midwife said was that the baby had hydronephoresis which basically means fluid in the kidneys. They said it was common, and sometimes disappears in pregnancy, but yes, as you mentioned antibiotics after birth if it doesn't clear up. it may be because of a renal obstruction, I later found out, but they said they would check up again at 28 weeks.

Our midwife said that it is more prevalent in one sex than another, but as we didn;t find out the sex I don;t knwo what that means!!

i found this out at my 20 week scan, and they've asked me to come back again at 28 weeks, which will be on 7th July. Try not to worry about it... I know easier said then done, but there's nothing you can do but sit tight and wait.

Sallypuss · 17/06/2008 18:59

Hello all

Just returned from holiday (aka our babymoon) and good to see that we've moved and been very chatty (taken me ages to catch up with the thread).

Happy belated birthday for those that have had them - hope you were pampered.

minerva - sorry to hear of the situation at work it sounds v. stressful. Hope you're bearing up.

We went for 20 week (21+5 really) scan today - both DH and I v. jetlagged but wonderful to see LO on the screen again. All is well and healthy (I'd worried myself stupid that it wasn't) and despite us wanting to know the gender, baby wasn't playing along. The sonographer did say at the end that if she was betting, she'd say it was a girl. DH is desperate for a boy so he wasn't happy with that comment. I too had assumed we'd have a boy and probably, if I'm honest, I'm hoping for a boy too so it looks like we may be going for a 3D scan shortly to find out more. Anyway, the important thing is baby is well - yeah!

Sallypuss · 17/06/2008 19:02

BTW forgot to mention that I live on the Essex/Hertfordshire border just outside Harlow (no jokes about white stilettos please as I'm originally from Yorkshire!).

Lozza70 · 17/06/2008 19:24

Hi all and belated happy birthdays! Another antenatal appointment today so got to hear the baby's heartbeat again which is really reassuring. Getting lots of little kicks in the last few weeks but baby seems to stop every time DH puts his hand on my belly. I may have to get him along to my next MW appt. so he can hear the heartbeat.

Off to put together a self assembly light and looking at the instructions it is only 47 easy steps It may take some time

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/06/2008 20:22

Bonjour! Just a quickie from holiday in France, as getting cold sitting outside the bar to use the wi-fi. Having a lovely time except that I should have packed more warmer clothes!

Only read a bit of thread, but will read later back in caravan once I'm offline. Sounds like some are having a better time than others, so hugs and support to all who need it.

Sallypuss - sounds like you must be near the in-laws. They are in Roydon Hamlet, and dh and I got married in Nazeing. Close?

Right, must go, but will hopefully get back on again at some point later in the week.

perkypopsy · 18/06/2008 09:11

Morning everyone
Hi sallypuss I'm in Ware - which hospital are you going to - a few of us are at the Lister but I am going to visit Harlow next weekend cos it has a brnad new midwife run unit that I quite fancy the sound of (p.s. My DH is originally from Yorkshire and I'm from Newcastle...hmmm white stilettos still stand then )
sambrands I was just laughing this morning cos my belly was leaping around like it had a frog in it - used to be only me that could see it but now you could see it from across the room - is cute and weird at the same time - I actually started talking to Pea then - I know some people do it loads but has taken me ages to think of this wriggly thing inside of me as a baby?
Went to first yoga class last night - was very gentle and arm-wavy - weirdest thing was being in a room with 10 other PG ladies - kept staring at their bumps like some kind of PG pervert - girl next to me was tiny and a month further on! Actually saw midwife for 25 week sppt yesterday and she says am measuring 26 - arghhh - those bloody holiday croissants

perkypopsy · 18/06/2008 09:12

p.s. Bonjour CSWS see croissant story below and be warned

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 18/06/2008 11:11

anyone else's baby have more quite days? after somersaults and parties on Sunday and Monday, yesterday was pretty quiet and today even more so...only had one little kick so far since I got up 4 hours ago....

bethoo · 18/06/2008 11:53

GWTMH I would not worry toomuch, in my lastpregnancy i rememver having really hectic days when he did not stop andthen the day after i think he was probably so tired but the activities the day befroe that he slept. mw said should feel movement everyday at 26 weeks. remember his/her legs could be facingthe back so may not feel them as much too. HTH

ronshar · 18/06/2008 12:09

I am beginning to wish I wasnt getting kicked in the fanjo!

ronshar · 18/06/2008 12:10

Popsy I also knew you were a closet Essex girl.

ronshar · 18/06/2008 12:11

I meant, always.
Computer is playing silly buggers today. Or is it me? Not sure really. I have a real light headedness about me today!!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 18/06/2008 12:26

thanks bethoo...come to think of it, maybe it just feels quieter today because baby was having a mental time on sunday and monday but now is just back to normal...always good to have areassurance though!

firsttimer08 · 18/06/2008 17:15

1sttimer80 i feel a lot more relaxed now I also found out about someone who's kid had a similar thing and it cleared up with antibiotics and now the child is fine.

I was also told that its more prevalent in a certain sex than others - so don't go checking on the net as to which one it is, or else it'll ruin your surprise !!

Jambers99 · 19/06/2008 12:44

Very quiet on here today, so just thought I'd post something for the sake of it... DH and I have been mulling over girls names, and unfortunately the current 'working' name (which I hasten to add we will not actually use) is Blodwen! My mum was born in Wales, so someone suggested the name as a bit of a joke and it's stuck. Even if we choose a perfectly nice and normal name for our daughter I can see she's going to get called Blodwen by the family, poor thing.

21 weeks today, hurrah, and feeling lots more movement now. Got my follow up anomaly scan on Monday, so fingers crossed that all is well.

accessorizequeen · 19/06/2008 12:46

Good luck for the scan, jambers! DS1 was Davros in the womb, he's still mystified by any references to it but makes me giggle!

OP posts:
bethoo · 19/06/2008 13:17

i too am stumped for girls names!

hedgepig · 19/06/2008 13:31

I keep reading name books but I'm not getting very far DH isn't taking any interest at all. DS likes Rosie/Rosey but our surnmane ends "ey" and I think the combination is too many "eeee"s (if that makes sense).

snowymum · 19/06/2008 13:57

really quick post to say hi - just moved house - bloody arsing BT cocked up, as they always do, so i've been offline for a week... and as i work from home mostly it's been a nightmare! plus am fat. hope you're all well!

KSal · 19/06/2008 14:22

we have an 'in-utero' name for ours which we have avoided letting anyone else know... mainly because we have friends who named theirs gunther before it was born, and some other friends who called thiers pedro... a mutual friend started using those names for the babies too and it really grated with me for some reason, like someone else using a pet name that only your DH would use. maybe i'm just over sensitive!!

on the other hand i am a bit worried i am going to have trouble dropping the nickname when the baby is born.... luckily it is not gender specific!

Sallypuss · 19/06/2008 15:32

CSWS - I am indeed near the inlaws, it is bandit country round that neck of the woods!

Perky - I'm booked in at Harlow. Had my 12 week midwife appointment in the midwife led birthing unit. Bearing in mind I don't have anything to compare it, it seemed ok (for a glorified shed/portacabin!). There's a couple of private rooms, 2 'ward style' 4-bed rooms and a couple of labour rooms, one with a birthing pool. am still mulling over the birthing pool idea but a bit worried that I might be disappointed if someone else is using it when the time comes iykwim. The midwives I've met so far all seem pretty nice/normal so sounds good to me and at least you'll be able to travel at speed down the A414 to get there!

We've nicknamed LO 'junior', like others I'm a bit concerned that it will stick!

rosebury · 19/06/2008 17:45

Hello everyong what anice day it turned out to be after the storms of yesterday. My dutailier nuring chair has arrived it is so comfortable I think that I will be glued into it for the remainder of this pregnancy if I can get ds out of it that is he is currently sat comfortably rocking in front of the tv with the remote in his hand.

I had my hair done last night highlighted etc and my nails done today so feeling really fab, oh and is anyine following big brother ? I love it and cant wait for tonights episode.

Lozza70 · 19/06/2008 20:12

Hi everyone, it's been reletively quiet over the last few days. Got our first baby things today as a friend gave us her Moses basket. It makes it all more real, as if the vast belly and kicking were not doing that already!

Our bump is called Dancer at the moment but hoping not to have to use that name once they arrive. Having no problems with girls names but boys names are more of an issue and we really think we have a boy on the way. DH has set his heart on a Dutch boys name but I'm a bit worried it may be a bit too unusual for the UK. I suppose it will all come out in the wash

Sallypuss I'm reletively near Harlow, just down the M11 in Woodford.
