Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bubbaz · 16/06/2008 13:49

Autumnlady I will post you my 2 year old he weighs a ton I have a M&P A3 pramette which I adore and DS loves cause he can sit forward and is very comfy and I also have a M&P Zoom buggy which I know use all the time becasue the Pramette is sooo heavy with DS in it. Can't wait to get it out again for this one though! Would love new pram but need a double and DH just looks at me when I suggest that I need a rear facing pushchair bit
Drswife poor you hope your toe feels better soon.
Pinkali does your DH know his blood type because if he is neg you won't need the Anti-D which is good because it hurts (I am a puff with needles though) I had all of them and DS turned out to be neg anyway so didn't really need them!

bubbaz · 16/06/2008 13:50

Lacka hope DD is ok!

AutumnLady · 16/06/2008 13:55

Thanks bubbaz, I look forward to receiving him I know I will probably live to regret it but I am sooo in love with it and the way it turns from a newborn pram thing to a toddler carrier! I'm not getting the car seat bit as we will have one fitted in the car - when I have found out what ones fit in the car that is!

My parents are ace for offering to buy it but I'm sure I will change my mind long before we get it as it is expensive.

I am trying to save money for one of those gorgeous rocking chairs with the matching footstool. Have found them on ebay for so much less than M & P's and John Lewis which pleased DH to a certain degree.....!

Hi dozy hows it all going with you?
xx

suiledonn · 16/06/2008 14:13

Misdee and other self professed pramaholics I am looking for the wisdom of your advice. I bought a Graco travel system for dd but I was never happy with the car seat as I thought it was too upright. The buggy part was ok but never put dd in it as a new baby. Now I am looking at options for this time round. I think I am definitely going to get a new car seat, maybe Maxi cosi but am unsure what to do about buggy/pram. Ideally I would love a lie flat pram but everything I have looked at are horrendously expensive and finances are tight. I've seen mention of liners etc to make a buggy suitable for a newborn. Would this work with a Graco Mosaic? I had terrible hyperemesis grav. last time round so did no research and ended up unhappy with my choice but dh is reluctant to spend a lot again when we have a perfectly good (in his opinion) system at home.

MerryMarigold · 16/06/2008 14:30

suiledonn - that one vbab got looks very good and should last throughout. Can you try and ebay yours to comfort your dh? Or find a pushchair you like and then get one on ebay. Sometimes they have been rarely used and you can line it with a new cosytoe etc.

lackadaisy - that Phil and Ted's vibe, do both seats lie back...ie. can you use it from newborn? I read it folds up for car without having to remove second seat, which is a bonus. It's definitely cheaper than the jane twin pushchair, so am considering...

...would love a double mountain buggy, dozy, but our front doorway is extremely narrow and we have no porch or anything. bummer that you have to get another one now!

lackaDAISYcal · 16/06/2008 14:43

suiledon...if you get a maxi-cosi car seat it will fit to the pram I'm going to be selling with a special adapter if you want to use it as a travel system

My pram is really immaculate as was used for such a short time if you are interested.......i posted about it earlier...tis a bargain if finances are tight. carrycot included

lackaDAISYcal · 16/06/2008 14:46

sorry MM. I think they do both lie back in the vibe....unlike the sport. Thing that made me wonder about it is if the top seat is reclined, does the bottom seat need to be as well. I see where you are coming from liking a side by side buggy though, then neither of the babies is stuck underneath. i think that matters less with a toddler and a newborn.

The McLaren techno win won gold from Mother and Baby Magazine last year. I know someone who has one and it doesn't look as wide as some twin prams. It's about the £200 mark. The phil and teds strikes me as a great idea, but the cost is scaring me half to death.

suiledonn · 16/06/2008 14:51

Hi lackadaisycal, I had a look at your pram and it looks fab. I am in Ireland though and I think the cost of sending it would be huge. I'll have to talk to dh and see what he thinks. At the start of my pregnancy when I was really ill I nearly had him convinced to buy a new pram but when I had a look around I really felt I couldn't justify it. I am a SAHM so we are doing everything on one income which is fine most of the time but it does make you think about big expenses.
My friend is expecting her first baby soon and just bought the Bugaboo. It cost over 1000 euro. I think that is around £800 sterling. Not sure how that compares to the prices there.

lackaDAISYcal · 16/06/2008 14:53

are you in the north or south? I'll have a look at courier charges for it.

misdee · 16/06/2008 14:54

the vibe isnt suitable for newborn twins. the back seat doesnt recline that much.

is the powertwin the 3 or 4 wheeled one? the 3 wheel one is a bit unstable, and i think it means you have to have both babies in car seats/matrixs? that puts me off a bit tbh.

suiledonn · 16/06/2008 14:55

I'm in the south.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 16/06/2008 14:59

MM I posted some info for lackadaisy yesterday about the philt and teds vibe, don't know if she read it but you might find it useful. I know the jane powertwin is highly rated around here, but we didn't get one as the weight limit is crucial- it can collapse if you exceed 15kg for one of the children- and since DS is big we didn't get it.
MY friend with twins has had a M&P double which fell apart, another which was stolen so she ended up with a mountain double which she loves. The Phil&teds Vibe wont do two newborns together- there is not enough of a recline for the second seat.
I never like mclarens- the brakes are crap. Also, a str9oller that is too light becomes a bugger to push once your child gets heavy. A heavier pram actually takes weight better.

Tinkerisdead · 16/06/2008 15:16

he he i pop back to check on the action and its Pram day... i should add that i do walk everywhere and have a massive hall for the bugaboo so that has reassured me loads! also having playroom off hall so planning to wheel it in there and shut the door!!

I know have to look for a weekend away in this country and i cant think of anywhere...loved stratford when i went last year, ive spent my whole life in london so thats off anyone willing to break pram talk for ten seconds quick to just give me an idea of where is good to visit. i love ye olde worlde like stratford but im not up for rambling for miles...not with this bump!!

MerryMarigold · 16/06/2008 15:23

Thanks for all advice...Yeah, misdee I think you are right about the carseats being the 'newborn seat' on the jane twin. Arghhh. Looks like I won't be leaving home until they can walk! I just think it will be a real nightmare getting them in and out while the buggy stands outside/ it's raining/ snowing/ freezing (not to mention leaving one baby outside in pushchair while I go and get the other one) - and all the double buggies are far too wide for our small house. We obv are too poor to have twins - our house is a very narrow terrace with a narrow hall and a narrow doorway. I will ask other twin people how they manage with the house issue.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 16/06/2008 15:25

Hi DRswife- why not try Wells or Bath, 's or Salisbury? It a lovely part of the world, lots to see and quite flat! We used to live in Winchester, so holidayed around there a bit.

RE your Bugaboo- i loved my frog, and never needed a spare pram. I used to wheel the baby in and out and leave him/her to sleep in the loungge with the pram up. Wee leave our P&T up in our narrow terraced hallway ok- Ican'tbe bothered folding it!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 16/06/2008 15:29

MM if your doorway is 70 wide, yuo woould get away with the out n about nippa, I think. We would have fitted one were it not for the very old door we have on our terrace. I think that is the narrowest side by side. I did try the mclaren side by side but really with two toddlers in you may as well be pushing breeze blocks around!

lol hana- I don't know why I'm contributing really, I already have all the prams I'll need! I think I'm pram shopping vicariously!Sorry to be boring.

Greece sounds lovely- if a little hot, though I suppose the Greeks get pregnant too! We will have to make do with scarborough and cornwall this year- though'm looking forward to our hols.

AutumnLady · 16/06/2008 15:44

DrsWife - have you thought about Somerset? It's gorgeous down there and you don't have to go that far into the county to appreciate it. Or, Dorset, Salisbury or any part of Kent (that's where I come from )

Hope that helps! How's the toe by the way???

Tinkerisdead · 16/06/2008 15:51

im scared of flying, not of crashing but claustrophobia so i take valium to fly. cant take valium with this bambino so its Uk all the way for me this year. I love Greece, been to Kos and Rhodes and were my favourite.
Im gonna look at cornwall and somerset now.. anywhere in particular?

My toe...ha ha, the nail is painted but ripped in half with blood on, i darent take the varnish off yet as im gonna see the damage arent i!!

thomasina1 · 16/06/2008 16:00

Hello! Just thought I'd drop in quickly to join the pram talk! I am at work so am being a bit naughty . We've ordered a Bugaboo Bee - anyone looking at those? It is basically a lightweight pushchair that folds back so suitable from birth. We have such a tiny basement flat and live in London so it seemed like a good option... I hope so anyway!

suiledonn · 16/06/2008 16:06

My last contribution to the pram talk - I just bought a Silver Cross Sleepover on Kiddicare. The price was too good even for dh to resist and the exchange rate between euro and sterling is really good for us at the moment. I am going on blind faith that it will be ok - don't know anything about Kiddicare, saw the link here on Mumsnet. It has everything I wanted - a proper carrycot that can be used overnight.

Sorry lackydasiycal - looks like I'm no longer in the market for yours.

Pinkali37 · 16/06/2008 16:07

Ooh your toes sound erm... horrible Dr's Wife. By the way, is your husband a doctor? Have always wondered that!

Cornwall is lovely and touch wood should have nice weather.

I am totally baffled by all the pram talk. Everyone I speak to have good things and bad things to say about each and every pram so I am even more confused now. Think DH and I need another weekend pram test driving.

Thread title : Due Nov' 2008, and my uterus is well above the hairline! Nah maybe not.

misdee · 16/06/2008 16:10

my sister has the bee, its lovely. i tried dd3 in one back in march just to see if it could last till age 3+, and she was too tall for it.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 16/06/2008 16:13

The Bee looks very high tech and stylish, Thomasina! The baby snuggle looks lovely- we have a cocoon on the p& and it is fab, looks a bit similar.

Ouch for your toe, DRswife.I'd paint a bit more polish on!
Somerset is loveley- as I say Wells is a very pretty city. We stayed in a very nice B&B, and there is plenty to explore around the area.
