yuk what a title

bubbaz · 21/05/2008 19:14

LOL, Love the new title ladies its fab!
I saw a lovely next dress on Ebay black with a pink sash but its strapless and as i'm already a G cup god knows if i'll be safe with no bra by the end of August - I'm guessing not. I have been thinking that I have had a few flutters over the last couple of weeks - Didn't feel DS till 22 weeks! but I had a very definate kick this afternoon - Just the one but it was there got a MW app tomorrow so hopefully will get to hear the heartbeat.

twinklingfairy · 21/05/2008 20:02

Oh Lordy! It is awful isn't it (the title)

Yes, that's what I felt the other morning Bubbaz! So exciting!

How many of you will find out?
They won't tell us, up here, bt I wouldn't want to know anyway. It's all part of the fun, and anyway, you can't be sure really, can you? Well, ok I know it is about 90% accurate but...........run out of reasons and steam.

Yorky · 21/05/2008 20:15

Hi all.
What a mixed afternoon.
Saw MW, got to hear heartbeat
The GBS +ve result on my notes is mine, I need to take antibiotics now for it, and she wants me to have a non waterbirth hospital delivery with continuous monitoring and intravenous antibiotics every 4 hours during the delivery and a 48 hour stay afterwards with 4hr monitoring for baby
Spent the rest of the afternoon in floods of tears all over DH.
I have never spent a night away from DS before, he will feel like I've left him for his rival/sibling which isn't the start I wanted for them.
Feeling slightly better now as there is another thread full of ladies with experience of GBS and some are considering or have had homebirths and not made their babies sick.
Don't want to do as I'm told.
Don't want to baby to be ill.
Don't want GBS
Spoilt child spits dummy out of pram emoticon.

bubbaz · 21/05/2008 20:36

Yorky sorry to hear it wasn't all good news. It must be worth looking into further and going back armed with all the info you can get.Aren't MWs great they can shater your dreams of a lovely calm birth in an instant. Hope you get it the way you want x

Twinkling I am not going to find out although I think I can but I want a surprise. IT was all I had left to cling onto after 16 days past my due date with DS

Heartmum2Jamie · 21/05/2008 20:38

Oh Yorky :9. Just sending big hugs to you. I am sure the other GBS mother will arrive with lots of advice. You are NOT being a spoilt child and incidentally, I HATE being told what to do, lol!

Great new thread title!

Yorky - so sorry about your news but am I right in thinking that the midwife can only advise and ultimately it is your decision as to what you want to do? Completely understand about not wanting to leave your DS as I am exactly the same. I have not spent a night away from DS either and cannot imagine not being there in the morning when he wakes up - but I guess it is going to happen so I need to deal with it.

I bought a tankini from Mothercare last time round and it was rubbish! It fit round the boobs but was really baggy round the tummy so as soon as I got in the water, it just floated up to the surface!

Right will go and update the stats thread with my 20-week scan date and also the predictions thread as I have a feeling mine is of the pink variety.

Fantastic new thread title!!!! Pinkali has kept us all amused with her funny antedotes! Glad we have tributed her classic one about "the hair" in a thread title.......I think we all found it very amusing!!!!

Yorky sorry to hear your news, as someone has said the support on MN for specific problems is terrific and I am sure you will decide what is best for you and the baby over the coming months.....

I am shattered and off to bed again with my new book but just wanted to say "hi"

Love DM x

cricri · 21/05/2008 21:18

Love the new thread title
Yorky Sorry to hear about GBS and how it's going to affect your birth plans Could you point me in the direction of the thread you mentioned please as I'm pretty sure I'm going to be told I've got GBS this time around again. Being a first-timer I've not really got any firm ideas about the birth but the idea of being hooked up to an IV doesn't exactly appeal nor does the 48 hr stay in hospital... Oh well, I'll have to wait and see what the midwife tells me.
On a lighter note, thanks for all those websites Creena! I've added them to my favourites and will have a good look through for dresses. I couldn't resist the black and white tankini from M&P though so I've ordered that already

Yorky · 21/05/2008 21:37

Cricri, don't know how to do links I'm afraid, but if you search for mesages by me it should be near the top. You've confused me though - how can you have GBS this time again if you're a first timer, sorry if I'm being dense.
Thank you all so much for your support, I am feeling very hugged and a bit happier.

Roca · 21/05/2008 22:53

Yorky - I remember how I sobbed and sobbed when I was told I would have to have a c-section with my first so totally know how you feel when suddenly what you've been planning may have to change. You MUST think though that as long and you and baby are both safe, that's what's important.

Your DS won't feel like you've left him for the baby - that's your perception of how he will feel and am sure not his - just get a special treat for him from baby and am sure he'll be dead happy.

cricri · 22/05/2008 07:10

Yorky I found it via your profile, thanks. I had a mc with my first pg, which is when I was told I was a GBS carrier. I find it strange sometimes to think that this is my second pg although I have nothing to show for the first one Hence the first-timer comment as I only got to 12 weeks last time.

dozymare · 22/05/2008 07:29

Morning all - looks like another beautiful day although haven't ventured out yet, so could be cold!!!

I would also ust like to say, that how your baby arrives really is not important. Although everyone has their "ideal" birthplan and ideas about how they want their LO to arrive, in my experience and that of my friends, it rarely happens! With my 1st, I envisaged a nice, calm, musical delivery where I was serene and in control and everything was fine - how wrong was I! Was induced on the Monday and delivered on the Thursday at just past midnight via an emergency c-section as had got to 9cm and baby was in distress!! It was very traumatic for me being rushed to theatre as was so far away from what I had imagined. With 2nd delivery, i opted for a planned c section which was absolutely amazing....calm, musical and of course pain free!! I was up and walking a few hours later albeit in a bit of pain but the whole "experience" was so different and actually enjoyable.

What I am trying to say is that it is great to have a birthing plan, but you need to be open to ideas as might not all go to plan, if it doesn't then it really isn't the end of the World and the important thing is that you and your baby are safe. It took me 2 completely different birth experiences to appreciate that!

For the record, I am opting for a planned c section again.

Yorky · 22/05/2008 08:50

cricri - I should have worked that out, sorry. I have to see dr tomorrow to get px for abs to reduce risk of early miscarriage, but at 13+4 what do they call early?

Tinkerisdead · 22/05/2008 10:06

what a great title. I love the Pinkali worries, such a fitting tribute! Didnt log on all day yesterday as I went to see my friend who is due in two weeks, she has gest diabetes and a DVT. They dont know how best to handle her delivery and have asked if they can write a paper on her!!! She is injecting a zillion times a day. Makes me not worry about my ideal birth, with all the will in the world, ive seen how my friend has had all options taken from her through illness now and faces a C section under general anesthetic!

anyway....thank you to everyone who put dress suggesstions n too, im gonna look through them all now. Monsoon dont do maternity but my upping my size i just about got into one dress. My DH says he will take me shopping again at weekend and if nothing then i'll order the wrap dress.

Creena · 22/05/2008 10:25

Oh Yorky - I totally understand how you feel. I would be really upset at all those restrictions too. How awful for you. Have you had a chat with your midwife about it yet? She may be more supportive and able to help in some way - it could be that the hospital staff are being very cautious and putting every preventative measure they can in place rather than what's strictly needed. I don't have any experience of GBS so I don't know about the different approaches to handling it. I hope someone comes along soon who can give some good advice. Hugs to you all the same!

I can't stop looking for tankinis now. I've found this one at John Lewis. Bit pricey but is the nicest one I've found since that red polkadot swimsuit. Thanks for the warning about the Mothercare tankinis Ceebee - I would have ended up buying one from there, knowing my luck.

AutumnLady · 22/05/2008 12:00

Hi all

Love the new title, really does sum us all up perfectly

Going on a tankini hunt this evening but seen a gorgeous one in M&S so think I shall just head straight there and avoid looking at all those lovely clothese I have no chance of fitting into this summer

Off on holiday tomorrow and I can't wait!!

yorky - sorry to hear about the GBS, I'm sure whatever happens you will deal with it brilliantly, stay strong and feel free to rant at us on here anytime.

I am awaiting an appt to see the Obs Consultant to discuss my planned c-section. I was so worried about telling the mw on Monday but she was great and totally understood why - I have had a spinal operation which leaves natural birth out of the question - and said that we need to get in to see the Obs and anaesthetist (?sp) as soon as possible as there's a possibility I can't have an epidural!!! God know what they'll do in that case!! Any suggestions???

xx

Pinkali37 · 22/05/2008 13:06

Helllooooooooo

YIPEE i've influenced the thread title, I feel very proud!

So... not sure what i'm feeling for as yet but I am off to Ireland on Saturday for a week (so someone else will have to do the worrying for me) and when I return I want to be able to feel my uterus or at least some sign of a baby bump!!! Am seeing MW on the Monday is it 2nd June? Anyway, that's to hear the heartbeat and in true Pinkali fashion I'M WORRIED ...

I wish I was off to a wedding this year but alas not. xxx

misdee · 22/05/2008 13:10

i'm back from my GTT, it was not a pleasent experience. should get the results tomorrow.
