minster · 18/06/2008 07:16

My scan's tomorrow [nervous].

mibbes · 18/06/2008 08:04

Good luck with scan Minster !

JamInMyWellies · 18/06/2008 08:58

Minster does that mean your the last one?

Cograts on everyone who has reached the 12wk milestone. Big sigh of relief all round.

Flumpy hope yu sorted everything out with your friends LO you are absoloutely in the right saying you are unhappy to have them for the day.

Hows everyone else doing?

Thanks for the thoughts re flying will make sure I get a note from my GP just to be on the safe side. We havnt booked anything yet as we are hanging on for a bit. DP has a job interview tom and if he gets it it means that I wont have to work woohoo also it means we can go for a more expensive hol.

Is anyone else getting sort of period aches and pains I am now 15wks and am getting dull aches think its my body stretching but cant remember if it happened last time round?

Snorris make sure oyu make your feelings known. When DS was born I had a vv long labour and after about 15 hours of every 2 mins massive contractions (back to back) I had a consultant trying to make me have a c-sec I refused to speak to her until my contraction had finished she was not best pleased. But I made her wait and then delivered naturally.

Cant remember who said they were having a doula its a great idea had one with DS and would agin if we hadnt moved too far for her to come out to me.

GBB hope you are feeling better soon

Jen thats fab about the measles one less thing to worry about.

Am sure I have missed masses of you sorry, but a big ol hello to you all.

Verso · 18/06/2008 09:01

jam I had period pains yesterday and got all worried until I reminded myself it had happened last time. Everything is stretching and growing, so I suppose it's normal.

I'm flying tomorrow for work and as far as I can tell British Airways don't require a letter until you're 28 weeks.

Good luck with your scan, minster.

Bit nervous about seeing the m/w (bad experiences with the m/ws at St Georges have rather jaundiced my perception!) but am hoping it will be ok.

purplepansy · 18/06/2008 09:03

I'm back. Had my scan yesterday and all was well...apart from my due date - CHRISTMAS DAY!! As the last one arrived on his due date am hoping this one arrives a few days earlier...Anyone else due then?
Still feeling tired, sick and constipated and now none of my clothes fit...am going to go shopping after work for some fatter trousers xxx

IceCube · 18/06/2008 09:41

Jam - I am nearly 15 weeks and yesterday had period type cramps at the bottom of my tummy. Also sat on the bathroom floor for half an hour feeling like I was on brink of throwing up, but never actually did.

Bit upsetting as I thought morning sickness was over, oh well.

I think someone said something about the changes in the placenta at this time causing sickness?

GettingBiggerBird · 18/06/2008 09:48

Hooray, I'm better today.

PP: I'm due Christmas Day too, but as it's twins they're likely to be a bit earlier. My DD was 2 weeks late, so I'm not paying much attention to the due date except that it makes people chuckle.

I'm getting some stretching aches too, but the sickness has gone for now. Hope you all get over that soon, it's horrible.

Flumpybumpy · 18/06/2008 09:56

purplepansy I totally sympathise with being constipated, I have been for ages now but I am really windy and keep letting off these really sticky farts without warning and praying no-one realises it's me

I saw my consultant last week and mentioned that I want to be sterilised when I have the section. He said this was fine and only took about 5 minutes and I wouldn't need a general as they could do it under epidural. he then went on to say that most marriages end in divorce and it wasn't reveraible if my new partner wanted kids. He then said 'or your Husband could die and your new partner might want to have children'. I calmly pointed out that I could marry Brad Pitt and I still wouldn't want any more children. He then told me that it was up to the surgeon on the day if he will do the sterilisation and I will have to ask on the day. Surely this is MY decision and not the surgeons, they are there to make me aware of the risks involved then leave me to make the final choice.

I agree that we should be standing up for the births and other aspects of our bodies that we want and feel are right and that a lot of MW's etc.... need to learn that we are the ones who are preganant so ultimately it is our choice!! There, rant over

JamInMyWellies · 18/06/2008 09:57

Icecube glad am not the only one Iwent from having pretty much no sickness to feeling like poo once I reached 12wks. I had a horrid sicky headache yesterday and cracked about 6pm and try to take paracemtamol swallowed one and the other went the way of the kitchen sink emotion

Flumpybumpy · 18/06/2008 09:58

I was also told I would be having this baby week beginning 17th Nov which is when I will be 38wks.

JamInMyWellies · 18/06/2008 09:59

oops inadvetantly put a link in dont think it links to anything horrid well I hope not

katie3677 · 18/06/2008 12:02

Does anyone else get recurrent bouts of thrush when pregnant? I got it alot towards the end of my last pregnancy, but have got it already this time around at 14 weeks, it doesn't bode well for the next six months, that and the hayfever making me feel a bit fed up. However, have just eaten four, yes four, iced buns for elevenses!

babblington · 18/06/2008 12:06

hello - I have finally had my 12 week scan today and thankfully everything is fine so far! Only 6 months to go then!

Verso · 18/06/2008 13:39

Hurrah for your good scan, babblington.

I'm just back from drama-filled morning. Despite my fears, the midwife turned out to be amazingly lovely and everything went swimmingly until she couldn't find the HB. At all. Even after trying for ten minutes. This is normal at 16 weeks, but given my history she phoned the EPAU straight away and I'm just back from there. Thankfully they found the HB straight away. I can't tell you the relief! It's good and strong and regular and all is as it should be.

I'll be away from MN for a few days now on business but hope everyone stays well!

mibbes · 18/06/2008 13:54

IceCube yes my sickness got worse at 12 weeks but only for a few days then passed - my SIL said that placenta starts to take over and causes low blood sugar which can make MS worse.
I have also had some period pains - very faint but defo there... can't believe how much stretching goes on! I actually said to my belly 'no more stretching until the weekend when I go mat clothes shopping please !'
Yikes Verso that sounds really scary ! I have MW appt on Fri and getting worried that she takes ages to find the HB and I pass out from panic !

majormoo · 18/06/2008 13:55

glad your appointment went well Verso

Congrats on good scans Babbington, EP and everyone else (it is so hard to keep up when you have not looked for a couple of days)

Kayz I am shocked at what that man says. Dreadful from him but good response from you.

Flumpy am very surprised your friend wanted to leave her child with you the day after vomiting everywhere. Re the sterilisation I guess they need to point out all the reasons you might choose not to have it, but am sure by the time a woman asks to be sterilised she has considered all those things anyway.

I am still so tired. And I look rubbish. I am 15 weeks I am supposed to be blooming.

southernbelle77 · 18/06/2008 18:16

Hi all! Hope you don't mind me popping back in. Only caught up on todays posts as you lot still talk as much as ever

I'm doing well. Horrible experience was had, but am glad that it is over now and we are moving on. Not going to ttc again for a little while as need my body to get back on track after 2 consecutive ones. But we will be trying again and hopefully next time all will go well.

I'm glad to read that you are all doing well and scans and appointments have gone ok and hope you are all starting to feel better as time goes on!

Take care of those little beans

minster · 18/06/2008 19:09

southernbelle I'm glad you're okay, I hope you're back over here again as soon as you're ready.

Verso, glad all is well - sounds hair raising - I'm glad the mw got you scanned asap, the worry is awful otherwise

Well I saw mw again this afternoon (needed a FBC done because I'm injecting clexane - she's great & pops over to me so I don't have to you to the hospital) - she had another listen with the doppler ... still nothing She thinks the placenta is anterior & that's making it difficult to hear much - it is certainly really noisy but no hint of a hb. Course now I'm even more scared about the scan

GettingBiggerBird · 18/06/2008 21:20

SB - sorry for what you're going through and hope you recover completely nice and soo. You sound very brave.

Katie - thrush is really common in pregnancy, I think. I thought I might be getting it early on so have been drinking lots of actimel and eating biolive yoghurt as the friendly bacteria are meant to help. Seems to be better so it might help?

All the heartbeat stuff sounds very stressful, I'm worrying non-stop as it is so hopefully I won't have anyone trying to do that unsuccessfully. Good luck Minster.

Off for more sleep...

rosmerta · 18/06/2008 21:40

evening everyone

southernbelle, glad to see you pop in!

Verso, that sounds very scary but glad the mw got you scanned.

Minster, good luck for the scan. I'm sure your little bean is fine {{hugs}}

I've decided that you lot are to blame for my junk food habit! I swear that if I stay away from this thread I'm really healthy, lots of veg & fruit, & as soon as I'm on here its iced buns here & dime bars there. What am I supposed to do apart from send dh off to the shop?

katie3677 · 18/06/2008 22:11

rosmerta, after my earlier post, I actually finished off the whole pack of iced buns, so that's 6 in less than fifteen minutes! No wonder all I wanted to do this afternoon was sleep!

LitterBug · 18/06/2008 22:58

Hello,

I am due to have my 3rd baby on Dec 26th!

I have just gotten my 20 week scan letter and I don't have a scan till I am 21+4.

Is this OK?

Could I ask for one earlier? I don't want to wait!

kayzisexpecting · 19/06/2008 07:15

Morning. I hope everyone is ok. I haven't read back through yet. I will do tomorrow, as I am going to see Boyzone tonight and I am so excited!!

Have good days everyone.

EffiePerine · 19/06/2008 10:33

Good luck for the scan today Minster

Hi Litterbug! Re the 20 week scan, I don't think it's as crucial to have it in a certain time period, unlike the nuchal scan at 12 weeks. So I wouldn't think 21 weeks would be unreasonable. If you're worried, try posting a separate q under Pregnancy

EffiePerine · 19/06/2008 10:34

GBB: did you meet your doula? How much does she charge, if you don't mind me asking? I'm seriously thinking about one, but probably move before the baby arrives might make thigns difficult as I'm not sure when you need to book them.
