Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
monkeydops · 03/06/2008 11:49

the whole xmas thing does make it a bit tricky, PLUS it's my DS 2nd b'day on 22/12 so i don't want to miss that either! When he was born I had an emergency section and was in hospital all over xmas, which didn't matter too much then but would be much harder now with him around. When we got out on 28th we had a turkey etc then.
OK so we're not great with our timing, hey ho!

Speaking of DS, he has diarrhea and vomiting which is making me really want to heave..........

rosmerta · 03/06/2008 11:50

hi all, congratulations on happy scan news to everyone

hattyyellow well done on potty training, I'm kind of trying to get ds used to having the potty around and using it occasionally but that's about it, nothing really definite!

I was meant to go to the hospital this morning but after waiting for a bus for half an hour (in the rain!) I gave up. Guess I'll have to go tomorrow with toddler in tow!

rosmerta · 03/06/2008 11:51

effie lol @ pickles, dh has been alternately amazed & disgusted at how many pickled onions I'm eating

EffiePerine · 03/06/2008 12:29

I was eyeing up the pickled onions as well but thought that would be a bit excessive

mibbes · 03/06/2008 12:34

EffiePerine tee hee PMSL at the thought of you all tearful when you couldn't get at the pickles !
Happy Birthday katie, hope you do something great !
hatty I'm sure that friends will be understanding and more than happy to take your girls whenever you go into labour - the odds are it won't happen on the 'crucial' day so don't fret too much If it did happen, could you go for the 'santa is bringing you an extra special present this year' line ?
snorris your pic is great - far clearer than my hippo !
Sounds like a pickle-craving day all round today

LadyThompson · 03/06/2008 12:53

You've all set me off. I am going to buy a jar of delicious tangy lime pickle and some poppadoms for lunch which I can microwave at my office. But I WILL have something healthy as well, yeah yeah yeah... Day 1 of maternity jeans. I bought them from Top Shop last night, but they are loose round my waist and tight round my thighs. Mmmm. Top Shop stuff never fits me all that well anyhow. Happy Birthday Katie, though you are probably round the shops now.

EffiePerine · 03/06/2008 13:38

I found topshop was rubbish for mat clothes. H&M much better (and cheaper). Next pretty good as well, esp for work stuff.

Bisou · 03/06/2008 13:40

Hi everyone. It's been ages since my last post, I've been lurking nervously waiting for my 12wk scan. Had a bad experience last time so have been (almost literally) wetting myself these last few weeks waiting to see if all was ok, especially after the long haul flight from Australia to the UK and back (yes I know... I must be mad!)

Anyway the news is all good. I was so relieved to see that heartbeat that I nearly burst into tears there and then but every time I got emotional my abdomen muscles moved which made it tricky for the sonograper so I did my best to lie there quietly and just marvel at the screen. I really feel for all of you who have had a previous MC too and are waiting for your scan - it's so hard not to fret about it.

The nuchal measurement came in at 1.8mm which I think is quite good, but waiting for the blood test result to come back next week which will give a clearer indication in conjunction with the NF measurement. The scan was amazing too - really clear, so I've put up the pics. The sonographer even did a 4D one which is really cool.

I've got a bit of catching up to do with messages, so if you're still reading this thread msdynamo, fruitbowl and Becky, I'm so so sorry to hear about your sad news. I feel really upset when someone drops out, it just seems so unfair. And it reminds me of how devastated I was last time with my own MMC. Look after yourselves and I wish you all the very best for future TTC xxx

rosmerta thanks for the reassurance (ages ago!) about the wee issue. I'm actually getting up now about once a night to pee - not so good when you're trying to get over jetlag. I woke at 3am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep! Oh well, I suppose it's good training for sleepless nights to come...

snowwombat I'm really glad you're staying with our thread! I appreciate another Auzzie on here as we can compare info about the care here in Australia (when you get here that is). Congratulations on the engagement too, have you set a date? Will it be pre or post baby?

Congrats on your scans too nolda and snorris, it's really nice to read your happy post-scan results.

Finally happy birthday Katie - hope you have a good one! I hope you can have some mocktails or something, I had a lovely celebration drink myself tonight made with apricot nectar and ginger beer. Fruity but fizzy - YUM!

artichokes · 03/06/2008 14:17

Congratulations Bisou.

Morning everyone else (or is it afternoon now? Shit, it is. Where has my day gone???)

DD woke me up at 3.15am and never went back to sleep . I have had a mad busy day at work and am meant to be here 'til 9pm. I am nearly dead on my feet already. However, my sickness has been so much better the past few days which is a huge relief. Last night I cooked dinner for the first time in 2 months (I have barely dared venture into the kitchen until now).

Re Christmas. Baby is due Dec 10th so hopefully I won't till be in hospital even if it is late. I want it to be on time or a little early though, so that I have recovered a bit and can make sure DD has a great christmas. Last time I could not sit down for two weeks it hurt so much, it would be nice not to have to eat christmas dinner standing or lying on the floor...

kayzisexpecting · 03/06/2008 14:23

Congratulations Snorris that is a great picture.

I keep looking at my scan picture. I have asked DS what I am having as siblings have some sort of sixth sense and are normally right, but he just laughs at me and tries to eat the picture.

BeckyBendyLegs · 03/06/2008 17:19

Hi Bisou thank you for you kind words . As you can see I can't seem to stay away from the Dec 08 thread! Old habits die hard...

It just cheers me up to read about everyone else's happy scan news and I laugh at the funny posts about pickles and dime bars. Keep smiling everyone.

kayzisexpecting · 03/06/2008 17:20

You keep smiling too if you can Becky.

I am loving Shloer at the minute. I have had it in a wine glass so I can at least pretend.

MrsMattie · 03/06/2008 17:39

Hey all,

Haven't been around for ages as haven't got internet access at the moment (house renovation nightmares etc...).

Hope you're all well. Have really missed this thread!

I'm now 14 + 4, still pretty sick but not as bad as earlier in the pregnancy. Had my 12 week scan - all fine (ah, my little bean! Was so reassuring to see it. Convinced it's another boy!).

Hope to be back soon xxx

artichokes · 03/06/2008 21:49

Nice to hear from you MrsMattie. I was wondering where you were the other day and worrying that your sickness had landed you in hospital. Glad it is easing off and hope to see you back on properly soon.

kayzisexpecting · 03/06/2008 21:52

I am an idiot.

I thought I had felt those first fluttery movements and was so excited!!!

Then I passed wind

I am so silly.

OP posts:
Verso · 03/06/2008 22:26

@ kayz

So when can we expect to feel them 2nd time around? I've been feeling what feels like someone running the tip of a feather over my insides from time to time... but you're right and it's probably just gas .

Bisou · 04/06/2008 00:33

You're so funny kayz!

Verso I have a friend having her second DC who has told me that she felt the flutterings around 16 weeks the first time, but this time it's been 14 weeks. So if you're due on the 4th it may well be what you're feeling? I'm with kayz though... at just 13 weeks the only thing I'm getting is wind! hehe.

Becky it's really nice to hear from you. I miss your posts because they always made me smile and laugh when I was feeling a bit low. So your presence here is a most welcome one, and I'm so looking forward to hearing when you have some happy news again

I love all the Christmas talk!! I must say doing it here in Australia is quite different to the UK (the traditional turkey and hot food make a lot more sense in the cold weather!) Here the younger generations are starting to set a 'seafood platter' tradition where you have lobster and all sorts of other extravagant cold foods... I still can't go past the traditional turkey & pudding though. Yum! I have a great pudding recipe from my mother-in-law, I'll have to share it when we get a bit closer to puddin makin time.

Nice to hear from you again MrsMattie, it must be really hard still feeling sick, especially if you're having renovations done! Did you ask for an indication of sex at your 12 week scan? I asked about it and although the sonographer was reluctant to commit to a definite answer, we got the impression she thought it might be a boy! I have had a feeling of having a boy from early on because of going off sweet things and being tetchy rather than teary, but who knows - perhaps they are not accurate indicators as I'm sure others who've had girls have had this too. I'll have to wait till the 20 week scan to find out for sure!

kayzisexpecting · 04/06/2008 06:35

Morning,

I know a quite a few people who felt movements at 12 weeks with second, third eyc babies so it could be that Verso

I can't wait to find out what I am having. I have a feeling it is a girl. I always thought DS was a boy and he was so fingers crossed!

OP posts:
southernbelle77 · 04/06/2008 06:40

Bisou - are having sweet cravings and being tetchy rather than teary indicators of a boy then?? That is exactly how I have been this time round! Last time with dd I just craved roast potatos with mint sauce (and Mr Sheen dust wipes, but that's another story ) but this time it's basically anything sweet! How I have no put on any weight yet is beyond me!!

I'm just knackered at the moment with working hard. It's not too bad when I'm working but when everyone has gone home, and dd is in bed, I just collapse in a heap on the sofa!!

It's great news about everyone who have had good scans. And I'm also really sorry to hear about those who haven't. It's nice to still see you on here Becky and how kind you are being to everyone still on the thread with your kind thoughts and words.

Still another week and 2 days before my scan. God its going slowly!

EffiePerine · 04/06/2008 06:42

I craved lots of sweet stuff with DS, it's def savoury stuff this time round. DH got me a massive jar of pickled onions so I'm happy . I have some vague 'girl' feelings (was v sure DS was a boy) but also think each pg is different.

kayzisexpecting · 04/06/2008 06:43

I was told salty and sour food for a boy and sweet food for a girl.

I'm sure I craved those strawberry laces when I was expecting DS.

OP posts:
kayzisexpecting · 04/06/2008 06:49

Some old wives tales regarding the sex.

I'm guessing that Drain-O is some American stuff.

katie3677 · 04/06/2008 08:46

For those of you craving Dime/ Daim bars, I have found the most delicious Dime Almond Torta at Morrisons

JamInMyWellies · 04/06/2008 09:07

ooh I wonder if it is like the one they sell in Ikea? I must be having another boy desperate for salty things jsut had a bag of crisps for my breakfast.

rosmerta · 04/06/2008 13:29

hmm, apparently I'm having a boy & girl as I'm craving both sweet & salty foods (not at the same time though!)!
