Just thought I would start a new thread! x

I agree. I felt a bit depressed about a caalming CD and would much rather something to give me a bit of fight and encouragement. Help those endorphins along. Music does make such a difference!

disneystar · 06/06/2008 11:17

you can buy the tens machine from any lloyds chemist roughly £10-12 so quite good i think

i had a scary experience yesterday i was out and feeling fine when all of a sudden i had minor twinges and period pains way down low in my stomach all along the bottom they just got stronger and stronger till i couldnt sit down anymore and was walking around i was having to breathe through these pains to
lasted about 2-3 hours then died down

last check my LO was breech i think he still is
i have loadsa pressure on my back passage and am losing blood there now
while i was having these pains my knickers were soaking wet not with urine though just clear water looked like
rang hospital couldnt go down there no childcare she says to be aware now sounds like hind waters?
as its my 7th baby he might be quick plus being and insulin diabetic they can come earlier
well needless to say im packing my bag tonight just incase
but gave me a taste of what i clearly remember and tbh i felt a little scared like oh no im not ready yet !!!!

pigleychez · 06/06/2008 11:18

Morning all,

Had a really lazy morning so far. Only just dressed and have been lounging about watching tv.

Cant go out today untill couriers have come to pick up one of DH's parcels. Hate being tied to the house. Oh well plenty of washing to do and plan to keep going on the hospital bag bits.

Think i scared DH abit last night when i told him about babys head being engaged. Hes told me to keep my notes with me and get my bag packed asap. Think its made him think the birth is imminent! Bless

I too have taken to wearing more yoga pants, Def more comfy. My maternity jeans still fit and are fine but nice not to have to live in them every day!!

pigleychez · 06/06/2008 11:20

Disneystar-
The ones from Llyods say not to be used during labour.
My mum bought be one as i used to have a pretty bad back.

Heffagooday · 06/06/2008 12:19

Thanks Isaidno!

Peanut - thinking of you all!

Re music - I've been only using a mp3 player for so long that I don't really have any CDs. All the ones I do have are Boyzone type things (from when I was a teenager). Not sure that's quite the thing... I think I might get portable speakers for it though because I do find music very comforting and distracting. The baby seems to like The Feeling.

Re fast labours - I keep hearing stories about these. All my mother's labours were very fast, although she did walk 5 miles to the hospital in labour with my sister (and then gave birth in the corridor). Several people have told me that they were nearly sent home/told to stay home even when they were crowning so I've been telling DH to make sure that I get properly checked before anyone sends me away.

isaidno · 06/06/2008 12:23

ooh - disney - you might be next! How many weeks are you?
I think pigley is right re the Lloyds tens machine - not suitable for labour.

RUMPEL · 06/06/2008 12:33

Arggg ? just typed huge message and DD deleted it by accident - so on word now!

Cilc ? hugs to you and everyone else suffering.

DISNEY ? hope you are okay.

RE FAST BIRTHS ? I heard that they can leave you and bubba shocked and more liable to tear badly. I was 36 hours/21 active with DD ? got stuck at 5cm, so am opene minded this time ? whatever happens happens.

WATER BIRTH ? I have bought a pool as I really really want to try for a water birth this tiem as it will be our last bubba and couldn?t manage with DD. Still need to get liner and kit though and inflate it this weekend to have a peek.

RE HOMEOPATHY ? 6 c for chronic condition, 30c for acute. I have a labour/childbirth kit I got for DD and it has 200c pillules for stages of labour, bf, brusing, anxiety etc. Have a look on ebay if you are interested.

Had a lovely time with Mum/dad although it flew in too fast and I was exhausted yesterday. Had to go lie down for 3 hours ? DH was off so he could look after DD. My bump has really dropped now and my left SI joint is really sore and stiff. So uncomfy too. Belly button is finally popping out now! My rings still fit ? amazingly enough. I had to take them off at 3 months with DD, but this time I am the same weight but less fluidy. Really itchy skin at the mo? ? need to increase my essential fatty acids and avocado intake.

Spent the morning in the garden weeding and need to go back out to do the back but having a rest as gets sore if I do too much. DH is away to Glasgow to see a friend.

RE LEAKY BOOBS ? none here either. I only leaked a wee bit last time ? at night and in the bath shower ? no spirting for me! No double jets either. TBH bf was a nightmare ? you feel that the first 2 months all you do is sit and feed but it was just I have flat nipps and couldn?t get DD to latch. Everytime the MW came she could get her to feed but I never could and consequently she ended up beating me with her little fists and crying and screaming and I would be crying and it was just awful. You think it will be ?natural? but it isn?t for everyone. I ended up doing bf and ff when she was 3.5 weeks old as she had lost so much weight. I also found it really hard to feed form the right boob ? ended up with mastitis, so I eventually gave up and just fed her form the left until she was 6 months and got her first tooth. My nips are a bit more outy now so hopefully it will be easier but I ain?t gonna feel bad if I need to do both ? as long as bubba is getting enough food that is the main thing. I feel more guilty now about not giving her ff earlier as she was obviously starving but I just didn?t know . Do what is best for you and bubba and on?t beat yourself up about it I say

RE CHILDCARE ? not sure what we are gonna do with DD. If my Mum isn?t here ? she is coming on the 16th July, it takes her 4.5 hours to drive, B and SIL are 1 hour away ? would never, ever ask the ILs ? more stress! We?ll see what happens.

Anyway must go feed DD ? hope everyone is wellxxxxxx

pigleychez · 06/06/2008 12:45

ARRGGHH- Courier company still havent turned out yet! Still housebound. We have nothing in the cupboards at all till we go to the supermarket tonight so lunch today is a bowl of coco pops!- How boring!

Spent the morning sorting out my finances. As we will be down to one wage i need to work out how much i have in my saving accounts etc.

Come on Courier!! Wanna go out and buy the ingredients to make the brownies that Libra posted the othre day.

sweetkitty · 06/06/2008 12:52

hi everyone not much to report here after the MWs visit yesterday, second the just feeling big and uncomfy, I have some maternity jogging pants and am living in them with one of DP's t-shirts. I've never swollen up either rings etc still fit.

Rumpel - I think BF is far from natural well it's not easy and they don't really tell you that. It's bloody hard especially at the start when your nipples can be sore and the baby is hungry. Formula isn't food of the devil either though. We each do what we need to make our babies happy. I am worried about BFing and have the DDs but I'm sure I will work something out. I think I will need to learn to feed on the go or this one will not have the luxury of me sitting for hours feeding. Thanks for the arnica advice I have some left from DD2 that is in date it's the 30c stuff do you think I would be better getting some stronger stuff?

disney - I hope you get some childcare sorted and get yourself and the baby checked out, hope it's nothing.

catec - I don't know about your sizing but I have just bought a few maternity bras in the same back size as I was pre pregnancy but 1-2 cup sizes up IYSWIM. One is a sleep bra and is very stretchy if you are unsure of your size you could buy a couple of them to start with, they are really comfy.

Lord is that the time, I have been talking about houses all morning with a friend as she went to see one this morning in the street round from mine and put in an offer and her hubby hasn't seen it yet think he will love it, it's lovely.

sweetkitty · 06/06/2008 12:53

pigley - I am waiting for a trampoline arriving for the DDs, really hope it turns up before the weekend.

Have promised the DDs we will make fairy cakes this afternoon as well.

JODIEhavingababy · 06/06/2008 13:52

Disney - how are you feeling? How many weeks now? You did say you normally deliver at 35 weeks didn't you.... Is that close? Could be you next then!!!!

Pigley/SK any news on your deliveries? It's annoying being housebound isn't it... I had to stay in with DS all day Weds and I was so bored....

Talking of bored.... DON@T WANT TO WORK ANYMORE.. Stupid MA hasn't started yet... Souldbe a couple mofre weeks, but I really wanted it to start ASAP so I could have some time off before baby while DS still at nursery so I could get stuff done, even stupid things like go shopping without DS.... am so fed up!

Kaz1967 · 06/06/2008 13:55

Disneystar Lloyds ones they have for sale at that price are small (pad wise) and do not have a boost button for when the contractions are happening, They also only go in 15 min bursts no matter what so you have to keep switching it off not what you want in labour.

You can hire ones for delivery from Mothercare, Boots, (Lloyds I think too) many midwives have somewhere locally where you can hire them at purely the cost of replacement batteries and pads.

pigleychez · 06/06/2008 14:22

Just checked the packaging of my llyods one and it does state not for use in labour.

STILL not turned up to collect this stupid parcel. Only wanna nip up the local shops but can guarantee they will turn up in those 15 mins!

Getting lots of sharp pains down below today, the same as I was getting before so must be baby moving deeper down and engaging more. Blimey at this rate im going to be walking around with a head between my legs in a few weeks! Can you imagine it

Poledra · 06/06/2008 14:54

Ooops, just had a 'courtesy call' from the mw reminding me I've missed an appointment 2 weeks ago (not that I made one and didn't turn up, IYSWIM, just that I didn't make one at all ). It really was a courtesy call until she discovered that that the hospital have not been doing my BP etc when I'm in for scans - they do the scan and that's it. SO now she's coming to see me at home on Wed. I think she thought I was a bit too casual, as I said I couldn't come to the clinic on Monday as I have a meeting at work I cannot miss. Well, there's folks coming over from the States for crisis talks, so I can't really say I won't be there, will I? Specially not as I want this company to pay my maternity pay . But I do feel a bit like I've been caught truanting from school....

On another note, NAMES!! I have come up with what dh and I think is a pretty name for this LO, but we're a bit about the initials. So, do you think the initials OGM are going to be a problem (and be nice, as well as honest - I'm a bit hormonal, you know!)?
Thanks

Libra1975 · 06/06/2008 14:55

OH FFS. I now have THREE different addresses to which to send my Maternity Allowance form, not that I think the gov't is inept in anyway but I am so not comfortable sending ORIGINAL payslips and MAT1B form to an unconfirmed address. Oh and jobcentres don't open on Saturday so can't go and hand it in.

jodie - so with you on the ML thing, oh well only 2 weeks left, 9 more commutes to London.

pigleychez - hope your courier comes, the brownies are worth it! I use good quality chocolate for the melting but then tesco value brand for the broken bits.

Ds - hope you are ok!

Libra1975 · 06/06/2008 14:56

Erm I don't know if I am missing something but what is wrong with the initials OGM?

JODIEhavingababy · 06/06/2008 14:57

Am I missing something? I think those initials are OK.... Initials don't mean anything anyway, how often do people write their initials anyway?

Poledra · 06/06/2008 15:03

I have to admit, I didn't see anything wrong with the initials, but dh was worried about her getting called 'Oggie' - as far as I can see, he's the only one who would do it. But I thought I would run it past you lot in case I was missing something.

Libra1975 · 06/06/2008 15:05

How do you get Oggie from OGM?

sweetkitty · 06/06/2008 15:08

Nothing that I can see wrong with OGM.

Here's good initials FFS, in that FFS I don't have enough butter or margarine left to make fairy cakes I promised the DDs (bad mummy alert) OK I could get us all ready and go down the shop but honestly cannot be bothered.

I don't know for certain that trampoline will turn up today I haven't really waited in for it but no card through door. Ordered it last weekend and it was 2-5 working days so it should be here by now surely????

JODIEhavingababy · 06/06/2008 15:19

Aren't husbands funny. I was forbidden to use Emma (if it was a girl obv! ) as our surname is Ward and DH thought that Emma Ward sounded like 'hemmeroid'!!!!

Heffagooday · 06/06/2008 15:21

Can't see a problem with OGM. I certainly wouldn't have thought Oggie.

Pigley - hope your courier has turned up! I hate having to wait for them.

Re arnica - if you only have the 30c ones can you take more (up to 200c) at the beginning of labour? I'm not sure what mine are, but they're from Boots so I doubt they're 200c.

JODIEhavingababy · 06/06/2008 15:22

OMG, I've just had the funniest pregnancy brain moment... Just told MIL what DS did at 'University' yesterday!!!

pigleychez · 06/06/2008 15:23

Yeeaahhh Parcel people have just been, so now im not housebound! However might as well wait now as DH will be home soon and we will be off to Sainbo's for the weekly shop.

Poledra- those initials seem fine to me.. OMG would remind me of Oh My God but OGM doesnt bring anything to mind

if bubba is a girl is likely her intials would be ARH. Maybe we should add a G in there too!

Umlellala · 06/06/2008 15:37

Hello all, sounds like everyone is 'enjoying' the last month or so of aches and twinges.

I went to school with an Emma Ward btw. My dd has the initials AFC Surname (which DH LOVES - being an Arsenal fan). ds-to-be will be SHC Surname which as far as I am aware doesn't mean anything...

Had my growth scan today and told that baby is absolutely fine (on the good size, weight and long) so no worries there. And apparently baby is engaged 4/5 but I am slightly sceptical (actually I think dd engaged quite early but she must have popped out as I was overdue 3 days). And the midwife commented on my super Braxton Hicks. They have been coming all day - more backache, upset tummy... oo-er!!
