Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Heffa · 21/05/2008 14:30

Minipink - sorry to hear about your appointment, good luck with the scan!

Peanut - enjoy your week off.

Jodie - poor you My parents are on holiday for late June/early July and I was feeling sorry for myself about that (because I'm bored and on mat. leave) so I'm not surprised it's getting to you. It's good if your MIL is nice though - do you get on well? I bet you'll have a really special time when you do see your Mum!

isaidno · 21/05/2008 14:43

eec - you can also lean over the ball to encourage baby to turn. And less fun, scrubbing floors on hands and knees also works a treat according to alot of people.

EEC · 21/05/2008 14:45

libra - thanks for link.

RUMPEL · 21/05/2008 15:35

Hi All,

CLIC - you poor, poor soul. You must be in agony. I had broken ribs years ago and every time you move or breathe it hurts like hell - never mind baby booting you!! Sending you speedy healing vibes.

MINIPINK - sorry to hear that folk were mean - I am a firm believer in treat other people as you want to be treated and what goes aorund comes around. Anyway you obviously have enough love and kindness in your heart to rise above others who are less considerate. I was told my DD was huge too - but she was only 7lbs so fret not.

EEC how is your Quinny? If baby is still breech in a few weeks go for acupuncture - there is a point on your little toes which can turn baby if it is stimulated enough. massage your feet every day and spend a long time kneading your wee toe on the outside.

Still not packed here!

Great news though - finally got my last essay result B and I have now, after 3 long and bloody difficult years finished uni YIPPEE!!!!!! I am now the proud owner of a Bachelor of Art in Tertiary Education in Further Education [preen]

Must go as DD is in nursery and I have sooo much to do.

Take care all.

My bets are on Twinkly going first

Poledra · 21/05/2008 15:39

RUMPEL - fabulous news! Congratulations and very well done on managing to do a degree and produce 2 children all in the same timescale. Respect

Heffa · 21/05/2008 15:39

Congratulations Rumpel! That's fantastic You must be over the moon!!

Libra1975 · 21/05/2008 15:46

Congrats Rumpel, maybe a small glass of something to celebrate?

Peanut73 · 21/05/2008 15:56

Congratulations Rumpel! What an amazing woman you are. Must be such a feeling of relief and accomplishment!

Jodie, what you feel is totally natural, don't worry about having a little cry, it's totally natural. I can relate - my Mum lives in NZ and is booked to come over for three weeks the day before my EDD. I hae missed her so much during this pregnancy. My MIL is a bit of a nightmare so thank goodness for MN! In fact my MIL rang yesterday to say she wants to come to one of my antenatal appointments ("to relive some memories" as she gave birth to DH in the same hospital). She thinks she's an expert on the whole thing and never shuts up so it should be an interesting appointment (which I am now DREADING).

Had a 'lie down' at 11.30am and woke up at 3.30pm!!

gillythekid · 21/05/2008 16:05

Hi Peanut I know what you mean about the little lie downs, I did my hypnobirthing relaxation yesterday at 11 and fell asleep till 1, still haven't got past the first 5 mins of a 40 minute CD!! It's good that you're taking it easy though, your LO is obviously settled now!

sweetkitty · 21/05/2008 16:08

Rumpel - well done and congratulations don't know how you manage it, your superwoman!

I haven't heard from my Mum in 4 weeks or seen her for 4 months TBH that suits me fine as we don't get on, what does get to me is when other people have great Mums they can share all the baby stuff with but ho hum you just have to get on with it. I think if my girls ever have children they will be "Mum and Dad go home now"

Am off to make some fruit smoothies with the DDs in an attempt to get more fruit into me.

Minkus · 21/05/2008 17:22

OMG I posted this morning when there were 10 messages and now there are 61!!!! Chatterboxes

Been swimming with ds and then snacky lunch in the car whilst we drove to pick friends up for a leisurely afternoon in the Forest of Dean, at a lovely lovely play/ picnic/ walking area. Am absolutely shattered! But in a good "healthy outdoor pusuits" sort of way so hopefully I'll get a good nights sleep tonight.

Am with all of you thirsty ladies too- water is the only thing that comes close to slaking my thirst but still doesn't hit the spot iykwim. Think that something with bubbles might be nice but have been off them as they made me v v v sick earlier on in pregnancy- and don't want to tempt fate!

Gilly- that lychee/ice etc cocktail sounds delicious. Just what's needed for a warm evening like this, might get dh to pop to supermarket on his way home.

And Libra1975- it was me with the big leather M&S bag, it's surprisingly good quality for £40 and has got everything I need nicely tucked inside now so plenty big enough too. And yes just looking at bags does count

Welcome back Umm Fulaan I saw you on another thread a while ago and wondered how you're doing- I agree with you, my bump is changing shape lots some days it looks like it has corners which is a bit worrying.

mcchesers I think most hospitals provide ice for labouring mums.

And pleeeeeeease can I pop first, although I'm due on 7th July by my dates it should be 4th and as ds was a week early I've got my fingers crossed that this one will arrive in the last week of June. PLus at my last mw appt last week (32+1) I was measuring 35 nearly 36 weeks so maybe it's gonna be ready early. Although minipink yours sounds like it could be ready a lot earlier if you're already coming up as 38 (it's gonna hurt whether it's a 4lb poussin or a 12lb turkey though isn't it!)

Sorry to all I've missed, rest up well ladies xx

Peanut - at your MIL going to an appointment with you! You're a much better person than me for allowing her.

Re size - my MIL was going on about DH being an absolute whopper and how I need to be prepared. Apparently he was 7lb

Minkus - your day sounds lovely! I keep meaning to get out and go swimming but I've been waiting for various deliveries over the last couple of days. Would love a day at the beach but need DH to drive me. And the beaches will be overrun with tourists this weekend.

EEC · 21/05/2008 18:29

Well done Rumple. What a great feeling! Quinny all fits together and is in working order. It seems to be in good condition and am pleased so far, but you can't really tell til you use it can you? Does seem quite heavy, but very comfy and sturdy.

pigleychez · 21/05/2008 19:04

Well done Rumpel

Had a moment just then when i thought things were happening! Started with a stitch like pain on my right which was slightly painful. Then within a few minutes it got more and more painful. I got up tried walking about to see if that helped but no, i could hardly straighten up!
Went up the stairs on all fours, trying not to cry thinking maybe i should go to the toilet, see if that helped, nope!
Laid on the bed, stomach still killing feeling really tight and painful. Tried different sides and eventually it settled down. still felt slightly tight but no where near what it did! and seems ok now. Seemed like ages but was probably only a few minutes.

Was beginning to panic thinking how i was going to get hold of DH as hes playing Cricket tonight.(thinking hes never going to hear his mobile if they are in the middle of a field somewhere!)

Anyone else experienced anything like this. Although its better now it was still pretty scary.

pigleychez · 21/05/2008 19:05

Glad the prams ok EEC

isaidno · 21/05/2008 19:56

sounds like a bad bh pigley.
labour pains are more like period pains. Mine always start with terrible backache.

It is worrying when you get to this stage, when things could start anytime! Just remember time is generally on your side with your first - I'm sure you would get hold of your DH in time. My DH works 45 min drive away, and DS2 was born in 3 hours flat.
This is partly why I wanted a home birth. Now I've got to get hold of him, sort out childcare and get myself to the hospital.

Consultant told me to watch out for any bleeding so in the last 24 hours I have become a paranoid knicker checker. Doesn't help that the extra discharge makes me feel generally damp anyway!

Try and relax for the rest of the evening, and make sure your DH always has his mobile attached to him!

pigleychez · 21/05/2008 20:02

thanks Isaidno

Been reading and thats what im guessing but that was much much worse than any ive had before!!

Peanut73 · 21/05/2008 20:13

Pigley - that's what I experienced before I had to go into hospital. I don't mean to frighten you but if it happens again you should call your hospital. Mine was lower right side and was crippling, stabbing pain. Just call them if it happens again okay? x

sweetkitty · 21/05/2008 20:26

pigley - aww poor you, you will convince yourself you are in labour about 20 times before you are, BHs are really sore.

Heffa - I got told DD2 was 7 1/2lbs and she was 9lbs 3ozs and if one more person tells me I'm having a 10lber this time I will go nuts.

minkus - sounds like a lovely day am I'm just not going anywhere without DP right now as I cannot chase after the DDs

wb umm fullan too

I am wolfing chocolate and half watching the footie tonight.

gillythekid · 21/05/2008 20:49

Pigley I was woken up this morning at 7 with the same stabbing pain on my right side, really low down, near the hip. I too crawled to the loo and used my hypno breathing to calm down, it took 5 mins or so to settle (fed the cats!) and went back to bed. Thought mine was due to SPD as it was so near the hip, it was almost like a trapped wind pain, not like normal BH's. Will mention if it happens again, hope it didn't freak you out out too much.

Mummywannabe · 21/05/2008 20:51

Pigley - scary time isn't it.

Clic - ouch get lots of rest

Sweetkitty - glad nursery went well

Sorry to all i missed but you guys have been too busy!

Sorry if TMI but anyone else got piles? Think i have mild/small one and wasn't sure if its likely to go on its own or do i need cream? Was mortified to discover it!

Heffa · 21/05/2008 20:57

Pigley - hope you're feeling better! I'm finding any new pain a bit scary these days.

EEC - glad the pram is OK

Sweetkitty - 9lb3ozs! Lots of people seem to say that it's difficult to predict though? I hadn't even thought about it until now.

Minkus · 21/05/2008 21:27

Mummywannabe I have a small pile too (maybe a pilette? Or a pilekin?) And- TMI alert here too- I made the mistake of wearing a thong yesterday. Ouch!! Am going to ask mw next week about cream or something, they're only gonna get worse with all the pushing in a few weeks time! If you get any recommendations before next weds let me know.

Pigley- sounds scary. Ideal time to practise breathing techniques though

Well ds is in bed, dh out watching footie in th pub, so I'm going to get an early night and read a bit of my book. Someone on here was talking about a racy book a while ago- can't remember who- what was it? I could do with something a bit more trashy than the one I'm reading at the mo!

MINNIE1 · 21/05/2008 21:34

minipinkscottish Try not to worry, at least scan will tell you. I was told DD1 would be a 9lbs and she was 7lb 6oz.

RUMPEL Well done you that is hard work with kids. I think a rather large slice of cake for you is in order....

Mummywannabe Get yourself cream ASAP.. I had piles b4 DD2 was born and doc gave me cream (cant remember the name) and was cleared b4 DD2 was born.. But i was blessed with them again after DD was born!! What i find great for piles is a bath with salt, just plan household salt and sit in it for a while. Even after birth i would at least have one bath a day with the salt, it really helps the healing..

pigley
Hope it does'nt come back. If it does ring ante-natel unit..

I am having really bad sneezing acidents!! really need to tone up!
