Just thought I would start a new thread! x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CilC · 04/06/2008 12:22

Wow sooo much to catch up on. Marriages, births and new members of the July Club!
Congratulations and Welcome!
I hope everyone else is well -
Must go and read through everything then will chat!

sweetkitty · 04/06/2008 12:40

I would second what isaidno says about BFing except I would call it sheer bloodymindedness. Every man and his dog will tell you "put them on a bottle" you can see how much they are getting, DH/I could help you with feeds, they will sleep better, only poor people BF, I/someone they know has 17 kids and were all bottle fed, you were bottle fed your OK, no one in our family breastfeeds, you'll only do it for a few weeks and switch to bottles anyway, you can't get your boobs out in front of X,Y and Z, it's painful you will never manage it etc etc etc all told to me.

You will all have the experience and wisdom of the whole of MN when the time comes, it got me through a few tricky times I can tell you.

bebejones · 04/06/2008 12:47

Poledra re: rings, think it's coz Im not due until 31st July (so practically August) Im a bit 'behind' most people on here! Which is actually really nice coz when things happen to me I usually have some reference from one of you guys!!

Isaidno don't know if the prunes are 'working' or not, just really fancy them!!! Surely the quantaties Im eating cannot be good though?!?!? Must try and ration myself!

Off to try and find a fathers day present for DH, he was very sweet to me on mothers day so feel I should return the favour. Also think it may serve as an apology for such a moody cow for the last week or so!!!

Mummywannabe · 04/06/2008 12:51

Pigley - we have our first ante-natel class tommorrow night. It's 7.30pm-10.00pm - will be shattered by the end of it!

minipinkscottish · 04/06/2008 13:06

Isaidno - fab you're getting HB!
Mummywannabe - what a long ante natal class - is it everything all in one night?

SK - agree with you re newborns - much easier than the terrible 2's and a doddle compared to teenage tantrums...the number of times I've said to ds(age 15) recently - "you were much easier when you were a baby"

Breast feeding - I agree with SK and Isaidno - your own determination and hard work will be what counts when it comes down to it. I too had all the negatives when it was the least bit hard - Oh just give them a bottle - give yourself a break - they'll never remember if they were bf or not - why are you doing this to yourself? etc etc etc
I didn't find it easy at the start every time but it was sheer bloody mindedness that saw me through and I went on to enjoy it each and every time

pigleychez · 04/06/2008 13:14

mummywannabe-
Our classes are 2 hours each and we have 3 of them. They are 6.30-8.30.
We plan to go out for dinner afterwards.

10pm is pretty late.

bebejones · 04/06/2008 13:16

Got my first antenatal class on saturday! Really excited. Is quite long though 10am til 1pm. Then got another one the following saturday! Think I would be knackered if it was late on in the day, I'm usually in bed by 9!!

Dreamt that DH left my just born twins (?) in the car and then could not find it as he was drunk. It was so real and the most terrible nightmare! What on earth is that about? For some reason I had not even seen the babies yet. He was bringing them to me. Don't know how they arrived without me being there!

catec - i think some sort of buggy would be a good idea, especially as it's summer. If baby falls asleep while out it's so good to be able to leave it dozing in the shade for a while. Second hand or borrowed one would be great.

My maternity clothes all getting tight and uncomfy. Really don't want to buy more at this stage but got to wear something! Any REALLY cheap suggestions.

CilC · 04/06/2008 14:26

Ok I have read everything but now find I can not recall much...definitely must be foggy placenta brain.
My NCT classes are 8.00 - 10.00. They are this time to allow Dads enough time to come home and babysit and to put little ones to sleep. Also a few Mums are still working.
Catec - welcome! Do you live near London/Surrey border? If so have 2 prams I am looking for off load. I warn you they are very well worn and I have been meaning to drop them off at the recycling section of the tip - but if you need one for a few weeks you are welcome to have.
Congrats TJuice! Also lease keep your wonderful food descriptions coming - I am still stuck on terrible gall stone/bladder low fat diet... your description of wedding feast was wonderful!
All the best Peanut and congratulations. I hope little peanut does well. He is very very cute! I know many people who have had prem babies and to see them a bit older you would never know what they have been through. The very best of luck to you all! Take care won't you.
I am having very weird and sometimes downright disturbing dreams...it is pregnancy. What part of our lives/bodies does it not effect!
To fellow SPD sufferers, I am now in wheelchair if I want to go out. I suppose in part also to broken ribs (which are healing ok and not so painful now). But I keep thinking only a few weeks to go! Hang in there!
Our trip to Bedruthen Steps hotel was wonderful...apart from the other parents and children (only joking!!!). Though there were some uptighties who nearly topped me over in their efforts to secure the last sausages during child tea time for their little precious ones! The spa was a delight and I managed to have 2 treatments. The spa was lovely and even though they do not recommend for pregnant women - I used it A LOT!!! DH and DD had a lovely time and even got to build sandcastles on the beach.
The place thinks of everything...such a shame though i could not make better use of the baby listening and get tiddly! Next time....

Lovely day here and my cleaner is about to arrive to help with the washing. See there are always advantages to everything...if I were abled bodied I would have to do it all myself!

Libra1975 · 04/06/2008 14:35

Here is the brownie recipie, it makes quite a lot but they keep very well (or not as the case maybe!)
www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/triplechocolatebrown_7685.shtml

EEC - cheap? - wear your husbands clothes!

sleepycat - how do they know the weight??

Cilc - sorry to hear you are in a wheelchair but glad you had a good time away.

SK - just had a look at your photo of newborn with older sis, it's all a relavation to me newborns as they are not seen out and about very often!

I am having 6 (NCT) anti-natel classes at 2 hours each, finishing at 9:45pm is certainly a struggle. Have hypnbirthing tonight which won't finish until 10pm so won't be in bed until 10:45pm at the earliest. Feel tired just thinking about it. Minnie1 anychance you could send some of your energy my way!

Just got back from physio with good news, she doesn't think I have SPD the pain is more likley coming from varicose veins in the vagina (apparently) (TMI!)

Heffagooday · 04/06/2008 14:52

CilC - glad to hear you had a nice holidy, sorry about the wheelchair

Libra - I haven't leaked yet so not sure. Interesting to find out!

It'd be good if I could train DH to do nappies in his sleep! Might end up going a bit pear-shaped though.

I think we have 5 antenatal classes at 2 hours each, but we get a break for tea in the middle. I'm looking forward to meeting people, but quite apprehensive.

gillythekid · 04/06/2008 15:17

Libra that's the first time I've ever heard varicose veins in the vagina pitched to me as 'good news'! Glad it's not SPD though. Only on MN eh!!!

Libra1975 · 04/06/2008 15:36

Well she said that's what she thought it was but I have just had a good look and can't see anything and apparently if you have them down there you will deffo have them on your legs and I don't have any on my legs either. Anyway she's the professional so I bow to her knowledge and the things that usually make SPD better such as a pillow between the knees sleeping and not crossing your legs wasn't making any difference

It's just that I had a friend who had SPD so badly and it's still effecting her life 3 years later and poor CilC is in a wheelchair which is why I'm glad I haven't got it! (Still time I suppose!)

Yes Libra the SPD is horrid. Sleeping is difficult but I actually find gentle exercise makes for a more comfortable night. I can't walk very far and my pelvis feels really shaky and unstable, even in the girdle. Funnily enough, I feel fine on the bike and it's getting me to aqua fit and yoga, not to mention my physio appointments!!

sweetkitty · 04/06/2008 16:15

libra - ouch varicose veins

have added some pics of newborns for you too

Heffagooday · 04/06/2008 17:47

SK - such cute pictures! Thanks for adding them

twinkle1 · 04/06/2008 17:48

Hi girls
Im back from butlins!!!!
Builders are nearly finished the conservatory I just want everything to be finished now.Why oh why do i alsways end up very pregnant and decorating or moving furniture?????? Every time i say it won't be like this???? you would have thought by number 4 i would have it sorted.Ah well.
Still need to paint nursery..... You all sound sooooooo organised. Libra ouch for varacosities There are some things that help a bit
ice pack, large maternity pad and tight knickers. And there are some creams that the dr can perscribe.
Hope everyone else is well
Not long to go now
Wish i could have a magic fairy to clean & tidy the house, its so frustrating not been able to bend over.Still i shouldnt complain i have only put just over a stone on
i have put less on with the twins that with the others!!!
right must go and lock up after builders.
Twinkle

Libra1975 · 04/06/2008 17:50

ok apparently it can't be varicose veins according to DH as if it were I would have them on my legs as well. So if anyone knows why I might get stabbing pains in my vagina suggestions welcome.

SK - aww thanks for the photos. I would love to hold a newborn pre mine just to see how it feels, but doubt i will get the chance!!

Libra1975 · 04/06/2008 17:51

xpost with Twinkle1! Welcome back - did you have a good time?

isaidno · 04/06/2008 17:55

libra - I have a varicose vein on my vulva, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were more inside. There is alot of weight pressing on those veins if you think about it. I can't actually tell if there are any more, and my legs only have thread veins. Your mw could be right.

Sorry to hear about the wheelchair Cilc.

twinkle1 · 04/06/2008 18:09

Thanks Libra,
Yeah i had a good time, the older two kids are still there with my mum and will be back on fri.Just me and the tantruming toddler at the min
Vulval varacosities are very common i used to see them all the time whaen i was practising. They either feel a bit like a lump or look like piles. They also tend to be worse after standing for a while os sitting in one posiston for a long time.Never had them personally but was often told how painful they are You would not always have them on legs as they are simply caused by pressure of baby. Most of the people i saw with them had piles but not varicose leg veins!!!!
Hope this helps

CilC · 04/06/2008 18:30

Libra - I get stabbing pains in there from SPD. There are a number of areas that can be effected by SPD, it is not just one symptom. I have this great little booklet that shows all the pain points including inside the vagina. Mine is a sharp pain and does not really feel muscular... almost like I have a throbbing raw sore in there. Sorry i realise this sounds gross but just trying to help. I also have scrapping sounds and clicking.

This pain is an inconvenience and pain but it is not what is causing me the mobility problems. That comes more from my hips, pelvis, lower back and sciatica (I sound like such a winging hyperchondriac don't I !!!!). What will I talk about when the baby is born...?? Oh I know...sore nipples, feeding, sleep deprivation, poo and spew!

CilC · 04/06/2008 18:34

sorry Libra - just re-read and your Physio has discounted SPD.
