isaidno - excellent news

sweetkitty · 03/06/2008 17:04

isaidno - that is fantastic news I've also heard tales that big babies are easier to push out than little babies.

poledra - thanks

min - I'm with you on the gear changing/foot on brake thing and it hurting and getting out the car hurts too.

Right best be off and make some dinner - don't really fancy anything, DP off playing football tonight so will be home late

Minkus · 03/06/2008 18:14

Brilliant Isaidno! So pleased you're getting the homebirth you really wanted.

Hello again Ichef glad you've made it back to the fold.

Poledra hope you are having a good week with your lo's. at your dh's massive heed- my dh has a large swede too and ds inhereited it, pah!

Hi to everyone else I've not managed to mention

Like the lists of things to look forward to- good positive mental attitude! Mine are:

1/ V excited about finding out whether we have a boy or girl- and naming it!
2/ Breastfeeding again, was such a lovely period for me with ds
3/ Not feeling sick 24/7
4/ Pate, stinky cheese n biscuits with a big vat glass of red wine
5/ The little snuffly noises newborns make
6/ Seeing dh all gooey over his new child
7/ Finding out how ds reacts to his new sibling
8/ I'm actually looking forward to labour - freak?- although its bloody hard work the sense of achievement and elation at the new life you've created should be bottled, the worlds evils could be cured if we could give everyone a tiny bit of that feeling.

4 weeks and 6 days to go until edd! Bring it on!

DS had his preschool booster jabs today and I was relly dreading it. Had warned him a couple of times in advace that the nurse would give him an injection that might sting a bit and that we'd have a treat afterwards. Didn't want to harp on about it too much as worried he'd just focus on the fact it was going to hurt. He did cry a little bit but worse was that later on he said in a sad little voice "Why did the lady put a sharp thing in my arms mummy? It really hurt me" He chose chocolate and a trip to the park for his treat. (Bless him we do that quite regularly so not really a treat but good to know that he likes it so much it's special to him)

DH has just arrived home laden with some small treats for ds because he'd been "brave" so will go and investigate x

Heffagooday · 03/06/2008 18:44

Fantastic news Isaidno! That's great

My LO is normal sized and cephalic I think, although she seems to twist around a lot. MW said that position was irrelevant until 36 weeks. She does seem very low down though, can be really uncomfortable these days!

Sleeping's still a nightmare, but I have found that lying upside down (head towards the end of the bed) with a V pillow and my feet on my normal pillows is very comfortable. I keep switching between that and sleeping "normally" at the moment.

I've never noticed a pregnancy glow Although my fingernails have been growing really fast, so I guess that's something. My hair's really long as well, but that might have something to do with not getting it cut.

I'm looking forward to so much, and it's so annoying when it seems like miles away! DH is desperate for LO to arrive one day late on his birthday. I'm convinced that she'll turn up 2 weeks early on the one day when all our families just happen to be overseas.

pigleychez · 03/06/2008 18:57

Minkus- Bless your DS being so brave.

isaidno- Great news about your home birth.

Things im looking forward to:

  1. Cuddling our newborn baby and finding out if its a boy or a girl.
  2. Seeing DH being a daddy
  3. Feeling comfortable and not having a tight tummy!

Been feeling lots of sharp pains and pressure lower down and friends have said its baby moving down. Must be what it is.... Baby hiccups alot anyway and i just felt them in my bum!! Very odd feeling!

MINNIE1 · 03/06/2008 18:57

Peanut Charlie looks gorgeous sooo sooo cute. Hang in there, and take it day by day..

Trying to catch up with you ladies. Had hospital apt today and all is well thank god. Baby weight is coming up at 5 1/2 to 6lbs (so they say) i reckon i will have another 7lbs as this one is all baby..

Right off to catch up..

sweetkitty · 03/06/2008 19:09

minkus - I had forgotten about 8/ as well, the brilliant high you have afterwards when you have done it, you and baby are all well, you really do feel on top of the world, I'm getting all teary thinking about it

JODIEhavingababy · 03/06/2008 20:37

Isaidno - fab news, realy pleased for you!

Minkus/SK, I know exactly what you mean, I'm actually looking forward to it too, the sense of achievemnt is second to none!

SK isn't tomorrwow your morning of peace!I'm of you! I really need my MA to start so I can get stuff done! Stupid government officials! Did you ever get your cleaner sorted out?

Right better get back to DH, he's in a foul mood! It's the third time this pregnancy he's 'given up' smoking, I'm starting to wish he wouldn't as it's the third time I've had to deal wth his mardyness!

isaidno · 03/06/2008 21:11

Jodie - you have my sympathy - I hate it when DH is trying to give up the fags!

Thanks for all the nice messages - I am still on a high. Now having a glass of non alcoholic wine to celebrate.

SK - any plans for tomorrow morning? Don't be too lonely!

sweetkitty · 03/06/2008 21:56

isaidno - I may buy a newspaper, make a cup of tea and sit and read the paper in peace seriously though it is a big thing for me, apart from DP no one else really looks after them ever.

JODIEhavingababy · 03/06/2008 22:07

OK guy's it might sound like a stupid question but what does VBAC stand for?

Poledra · 03/06/2008 22:09

VBAC - vaginal birth after c-section

sweetkitty · 03/06/2008 22:11

Why did I just open a thread about vaginal tearing and look at pictures I'm hoping DD2's big head has means I am like elastic downstairs?

MINNIE1 · 03/06/2008 22:16

isaidno Yeah your getteing your homebirth, its nice when things turn out they way you want..

My liner for my buggy should be arriving any day now ohhh i cant wait! Something to look forward too.. Rough night with DDs last night so off to bed early! SO tired ..

Hope you ladies are all well

MINNIE1 · 03/06/2008 22:20

Tearing ohhh SK..... I was cut with both DD SO not looking forward to that part!

mcchesers · 03/06/2008 22:24

things to look forward to is:

  1. Not waking up because I've thrown up in my mouth a bit from the reflux (me too, it sucks)
  2. Being able to pick things up off the floor
without having to resort to using my toes.
  1. Wearing my normal clothes
  2. Not having "loo fear" when my knees feel like they are giving out on me and I can't get up.
  3. Being able to spoon DH without a mile of bump between us
  4. Holding baby mccheslet for the first time and having a good snuggle with his little face.
  5. not having that labor anxiety because it's all over yay!

I will miss:

  1. my lack of period
  2. second trimester comfy clothes
  3. playing tickle my foot with my womb mate
  4. no fat rolls
  5. eating like a mad woman possessed and being completely unashamed about it.
sweetkitty · 03/06/2008 22:27

I had a second degree year with DD1 and nothing with DD2. The stitches didn't bother me in the grand scheme of things.

SKs recommendation for new mums is every night for at least 2 weeks go for a soak in a bath with lavender oil in it, take a book and relax, baby will be fine with Daddy for a bit and it's great for healing downstairs and it's a bit of chill out time. Plus you can laugh as your boobs spray milk into the water

mcchesers · 03/06/2008 22:33

SK- I keep looking at my boobs thinking..are they going to work? I just can't see being a snack bar/bevvie centre.

sweetkitty · 03/06/2008 22:37

They will work mcchesers and when you have a comtent 5 month old chubby bubba you get all proud thinking your body and nothing else has done that (well apart from the erm small contribution from DH at the start )

I always thought that milk came out on central hole in the middle of your nipple I didn't know you have about 6 or 7 jets none of which spary milk in the same direction. I also remember standing having a shower watching the milk spray off the door, most amusing.

Poledra · 03/06/2008 22:44

LOL at SK's boobs spraying but, to all you first-timers, not everyone's do that. I've only seen my boobs spray milk once (when dd1 stopped sucking rather suddenly) so don't get worried if yours don't (and I hope that doesn't sound patronising ).

sweetkitty · 03/06/2008 22:50

oh is it just me then?

When DD2 was feeding I would sit down then DD1 who would be potty training would shout "Mummy I need a poo" so would have to unlatch DD2 milk spraying halfway across the room, DD2 howling and go sort DD1 out.

I was always changing breastpads too.

(Why am I having another one ?)

pigleychez · 03/06/2008 22:54

loving all this talk of spraying boobies!
my friend has already warned me of this and given me plenty of funny stories.

my boobs leak abit of colostrum when squeased which freaks DH out. and yes not just from one hole but 3 or 4.

Poledra · 03/06/2008 23:04

I do leak milk especially through the night, but it's not that dramatic sprinkler-type effect, more of a slowly-running tap . Big sis had the more-common-than-you-think experience of hitting a male visitor in the eye when her ds unlatched abruptly though . Fortunately, said male visitor was a v good friend with dcs of his own, so just howled with laughter.

JODIEhavingababy · 03/06/2008 23:08

I was a sprayer too! Was completely taken by surprise. I thought it all came from one hole! It used to make my DH laugh (ALOT!)

Thanks for the VBAC answer, has been bugging me for some time!

I saw a 2 week old baby boy at mother and toddler this morning, so cute (he slept the whole tome ) his mum is already back in her old size 10 jeans

Twinkle if your out there, how are you doing?

mummypig · 03/06/2008 23:22

I was a sprayer as well. Not quite so bad with ds2 but I still had my moments. And I got through so many disposable breastpads I went out and bought three packs of washable ones instead. (One pack wouldn't have lasted very long )

The chocolate rice pudding was pretty good, by the way... in fact I have a small bowl left in the fridge and I am tempted to finish it up before bed... but I don't want to be lying there with heartburn stopping me from sleeping.

Size 10 after 2 weeks is just not fair . Reminds me of a friend of ours who said the first four weeks of being a mum were difficult but after that everything was fine. Dp and I were partly envious and partly just disbelieving!

Your ds sounds lovely, minkus. Chocolate is a big persuader for my ds2 - he came along when ds1 had to have a jab and was so keen to have a chocolate button that the nurse gave him his pre-school booster a month or so early!

Right I ought to go to bed now. Why is it I stay up so late when dp is out, when I should make the most of it and have an early night instead??
