Hey there ladies,

What a week....I have missed so much. MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS TO PEANUT, Charlie is absolutely beautiful. There's not much more I can say that hasn't been said already. My eldest nephew was three months early and weighed just under 2 pounds and it is amazing how resiliant these little ones can be. Make sure you try to rest as you need to keep your energy levels up for when he comes home.

Also, congratulations to Mrs TJuice and to Pigley.

It's hard enough keeping the waterworks turned off with all this news let alone with all the hormones flying around!

I'll post later, but am deffo with you guys on trouble sleeping, aching limbs and so on. I've got the MW today so will post something later.

Sorry that I have missed a million other bits of news. Just glad to hear that you all are well.

Taff

Mummywannabe · 03/06/2008 12:22

Hi all.

Sorry to those who are feeling fed up.

Sweetkitty - think hormones have a lot to answer for, it all seems much worse doesn't it.

Isaidno - have had pins and needles too.

Back from consultant appointment - all fine. Going to have a scan at 37 weeks to check growth again but little one measuring bang on 35 weeks today, which i am.

Found ketones, protein and glucose in urine today! Do you think i get a prize for having all three? . Gotta drop another sample in today for bacteria screen. To be honest i think it was cause i forgot my sample and (sorry if TMI) I had to squeeze it out to get any sort of sample when i got there.

isaidno · 03/06/2008 12:26

MW says the pins and needles in hands is carpal tunnel syndrome, caused by fluid build up which puts pressure on the blood supply and nerves. Just another of those temporary discomforts pregnancy blesses us with!

Libra1975 · 03/06/2008 12:34

Oh I'm so jealous of those having scans!!! (even tho I know it's a good thing that I haven't had to have anymore.)

minipinkscottish · 03/06/2008 12:38

isaidno - yes I have also had numb hand and pins and needles - glad to know what it is - thanks
peanut - your little boy is just beautiful and he looks so alert - take care of yourself and rest plenty!!xxxx

Back still aching I'm afraid - tried bath and heat and cold and massage and eventually went to docs. Useless

Phoned local MW who does reflexology but no appointments for 2 weeks - so basically i just have to put up with it Bump feel heavy and low and sometimes BH so sore I am thinking "is this it?"

Sorry for me me me moan xxx

Oh and SK - being doing a lot of bickering with my dh too - it's soooooooo NOT our hormones it's just MEN!!

LOL xxx

pigleychez · 03/06/2008 12:41

I know what you mean Libra..... I wanna see this LO again.

Ive been worrying about the size of bubba after the midwifes comments about it having long legs and a big head so tempted to ask for a growth scan to check its not a giant or something already!
Dont think id get one but would put my mind at ease.

mcchesers · 03/06/2008 13:45

Hey Pigley - my MW said the same thing to me. She actually said..looks like a "chunky" baby to me. They don't really know..there's so much fluid and junk in there. If you were in any danger, they would have you scanned right away and talk about alternative methods for birth or early induction. We had this chat in last week's antenatal class. I'm glad you are posting, it helps that there are so many of us due around the same date.

It would be nice to have a window and just see what he looks like in there. 5 weeks to go on Saturday!

Mummywannabe - How did you manage to get all that in your urine?! Keep us posted. i had one glucose positive urine sample..but I had just eaten cheerios and walked to the clinic.

sweetkitty · 03/06/2008 13:52

I think all this "oh thats a big baby" stuff from the MWs does more harm than good TBH, they can't really tell the size until the LO pops out even growth scans aren't that accurate judging by the threads on here, I think it just makes women panic they are going to have to push out a 12lb baby.

MW told me on Thurs that she doesn't think this one will be a 9lber judging by my size but I still had 6 weeks (possibly 8 to go) how do they know that?

Having horreddous BH right now well I hope they are BHS either that I have another dicky tummy

New bras arrived today the feeding one is quite nice and the sleep on looks like a sports bra, so now I can pack my bag that hopefully I won't have to use.

Thanks for all your replies re DP and I, TBH he said some really nasty things to me, knew exactly what buttons to push. I know he's stressed at work with going away and me havily pregnant but it's no excuse.

ouch those with pins and needles sounds like carpal tunnel my friend had this bad

post pregnancy I am looking forward to:

  • being able to walk/do anything pain free again
  • knowing that I never have to go through labour again
  • having a little newborn baby to cuddle and seeing my other DDs with her
pigleychez · 03/06/2008 13:57

mcchesers- Probably me just reading things into it but think i might mention it again on Thursday when i see her and just get her to clarify what she means by big.
Its been playing on my mind abit this week.
I have always had slightly lower levels of fluid so thinking my bump is all baby..Tummy is soo tight and you feels pretty boney.

The measurements she looked at to say this were my 21 week scan results, so thinking im now 34 weeks and its done alot of growing since then.

Being my first too doesnt help - im already starting to think about the labour and how i will cope. (without having a large head to content with!)

ichef · 03/06/2008 14:04

Hi there, have been away for a while with lots of work that are finally over and I can finally rest, baby is very happy about that and so am I
Hope everyone is well, should have plenty of time for chats from now on.

Heffagooday · 03/06/2008 14:26

Isaidno - thanks for the info re carpal tunnel syndrome! I like having a name to call things. Maybe that explains weird pain last night as well. I should have asked my MW about it, but I tend not to mention any problems to them otherwise they go on mad panic alert. I have a list of danger symptoms to watch out for.

Libra - I'd love to have another scan as well! I was trying to sound DH out about paying for a private one but I don't think he's keen. Guess I'll just have to wait until she's here.

Minipink - sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish. Didn't someone suggest TENS machines for bad backs?

Mummywannabe - congrats on all 3! I hope the next test is OK.

Re the big baby thing - this does seem to be something that MWs tell people and get them all worried. Similarly the position thing, my MW was going on about how bad it is when MWs make a fuss about a baby not being in the right position before they're meant to be. She reckons it makes people panic when there's no need to.

I found out recently that 3 people I know who have been ttc for ages are finally pregnant so I'm feeling very overwhelmed and happy for them all

And my bird feeder that I put up on the day we moved in is finally getting some use - from a very acrobatic squirrel. Daft cat is sleeping through the entire thing.

RUMPEL · 03/06/2008 14:30

Hi All,

Carpal tunnel can be very sore - I had it really badly with DD and it took ages to go away - I remember trying to bath her and my wrists (especvially left one) being so weak I could hardly hold her. It is much better this time - although I am not carrying as much fluid as with DD.

HEFFA - I carried DD really low and felt like you - it is just the way some folk carry them I think. This one has dropped a lot over the past week too so I am fingers x for going around about the 21st - 24th June My parents will be down for a few days then so it would be perfect and only 4 weeks early so bubba should be healthy enough.

My parents are visiting tomorrw - so looking forward to seeing them. Mum hasn't seen DD since January - when she took her first steps so she will see a huge change in her. Unfortunatley my Dad's sis and bil are coming too - I wanted my folks to myself but hey ho. At least I'll see them again in a few weeks.

Finally the shower is in and wroking so I no longer have to scapre my belly along the ensuite door to get out

I am a cake monster - 2 a day at the mo'

Amazingly DD slept all night last night - the
first time in what feels like 2 months. Although of course I didn't between bladder, huge belly, sore nethers when turning and LO booting hell out of me!! At least I got to rest though.

SWEETKITTY - have uyou chosen a pram yet - I had a quick look at your other thread and DD is very tall - she is about 1 cm shorter than our neighbours DD who is 3.5 and she fitted in the P+T okay. I need to measure her but she is above 88cm as I tried her against her baby growth chart yesterday.

Must go as need to tidy up my ipod - it is a mess, and finish the choc/orange trifle for tomorrow and clean the house a bit more.

BH really bad here too and baby has defo dropped down now - no MW for another 3 weeks for me - on my birthday.

Take care allxxxx

mummy2bsoon · 03/06/2008 14:57

wats a sleepin bra?

sweetkitty · 03/06/2008 14:57

Rumpel - Apparently I carry high whatever that means but I still get baby bouncing on my bladder, head is not engaged but thats not uncommon for a 2+ baby, DD2's head never engaged until 10 minutes before she was born.

No STILL haven't decided on the pram (this baby will be walking by the time I decide) I THINK I am going to get a P&T the consensus is that DD2 will fit underneath. I had thought about getting a new single and double but have been put off the idea.

I'm with you heffa on position well as long as the baby is head down they probably spin about a fair bit during the day so if you they are back to back when MW examines you then thats definitely not going to be the case when you go into labour. Most of them seem to know what they are doing and sort themselves out on the way out.

Am supposed to be tidying out cupboards upstairs, the DD's are "helping" last check they were playing shoe shops with my shoes!

bebejones · 03/06/2008 15:29

Just sitting munching on some prunes...think with LO so low down she might be causing a blockage IYKWIM?!?! Still feeling rubbish although I did manage to get a couple of hours sleep this morning after checking out what you lot were up to!

My MW has not commented at all on what size baby is, all they ever say is that she is a 'good size', whatever that means. I measure bang on what I should and on all my scans she has been on the middle line...completely average....really hoping she wont have a sudden growth spurt and be massive!

Read in my pregnancy bible that the head shouldn't engage until 4 weeks before due date...I still have 8 weeks to go....does this mean she will be early? Or is the author full of s*%#???

JODIEhavingababy · 03/06/2008 15:34

Hi all,

Just a quick post inbetween sorting DS out!

Minipink I've been to the chemist his morning and bought some heat pads to wear during the day, it's made a difference!!! Then a Hot water bottle for night. Hips still hurt loads, but you can't have everything!

Rumple My DS hasn't slept through for ages either, I think he's the same age as your DD (20 months) Looking through threads on here I think this is about normal for their age

As fpr turning, DS turned twice during labour, when I was examined at abut 7cm, they then worked out he'd turned and was back to back, then when he came out, he was the right way, but being in the water they couldn't see properly and were trying to pull him one way and he was going another! Ended up with the cord wrapped tightly around his neck and arm! (and a very low APGAR score!) HIs belly button is now an outy as they whipped off the cord pretty damn quick!

Got to go, tamtruming DS alert!

EEC · 03/06/2008 15:39

Feel like death today. Absolutely exhausted -each step is a struggle. I guess I'd better up my iron intake.

Got hospital visit tomorrow. Quite excited.

LO still breech - 5 1/2 weeks to go. TURN!

mummy2bsoon - sleep bra is a bra to wear in bed. When the milk comes in sometimes it is uncomfy at night without a bra for support, and also, if you are a big leaker (I was) you need to wear breast pads at night or the bed gets soaked! I wore a bra in bed for months and still had to sleep with a towel under me! Got to be a soft comfy bra.

disneystar · 03/06/2008 16:00

i know we are all uncomfortable but the last 2 days i can hardly walk puttin one foot in front of the other causes immense pain, the pressure down below in very low and i feel very bruised down there
im wondering if this is early to be gettin this now
or are you guys gettin the same thing to
basically it hurts to shut my legs together
waddling is a must now
i think im beginning to panic a bit now im scared of the labour as baby isnt well
i really dont think hes going to make it to the c-section date,
maybe im just experiencing the joys of pregnancy (yeah right)
but the pain can be so awful it makes you cry
when i try to lift my left leg all i hear is a clicking sound and it makes it worse

sweetkitty · 03/06/2008 16:09

Oh everyone sounds so sore and down today wheres the lovely pregnancy glow you are supposed to get or are we all too big for that.

Tried the bras on, the nursing one feels tight on the back which is fine and has a bit more room in the cups. The sleep one is lovely and comfy did now want to take it off. I did take it off and haven't put a bra back on, don't care. Does anyone else feel like their clothes are so uncomfy right now, I have a big maternity t-shirt on and a pair of joggy bottoms and thats how I am staying for the rest of the day?

I echo what EEC has said I needed to wear a bra at all times for at least 7-8 months. At the start I would soak through breastpads, my top and the bed so towel a must, it isn't nice waking up in the night soaking wet and needing to get changed either.

Cleaned out the linen cupboard and the bottom of my wardrobe so feel I have done enough today so going to rest now.

Libra1975 · 03/06/2008 16:18

I could say that my hair is long and thick due to pregnancy glow but the truth is it's because I can't be bothered to go get it cut

My MW has neither made any comment about the size of the baby or the position, I think ours take the view as long as you are measuring correctly there is nothing to be worried about before 36 weeks and so there is no point worrying the mother (I just find other things to worry about like the fact my baby moves TOO MUCH, yes I know I'm bonkers)

However I am still having an easy time of it compared to most of you, specially the ones who are already looking after little ones, how you have the energy I do not know.

Tonight off to the hospital for a water birth presentation. Very exciting!

isaidno · 03/06/2008 16:49

MY HOME BIRTH IS BACK ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

{smile]

Had another scan today and those few blood vessels have moved enough that everything is fine. I am sooooooo happy!

Estimated weight at the mo according to the scna is 3.1 kg at the mo - nearly 7lb!!! So she better not wait in there too long! I can have the home birth from 37 weeks which is 12th June so anytime after that will be fine with me! Don't care if she's a big one - I'm just so pleased she's popping out the proper way! Scan lady also says she has lots of hair - and I've had no indigestio so that disproves that old wives tale.

{smile]

Sorry to hear lots of people are grumpy and uncomfortable - have a happy hug from me!

Poledra · 03/06/2008 16:51

Afternoon all
On a week's holiday as cm is away on vacation. So why does it have to be miserable and wet when I'm off? Back to work Mon, 2 weeks of that, then finished.

Kitty, you're where I was (and still am to an extent) a couple of weeks ago, where I was getting so depressed with DH and seemed to spend every evening in tears. I think that, with the best will in the world, they just do not get that we are going to take things more personally than we used to. And they don't get just how uncomfortable being heavily pregnant is, never mind having SPD as you do.

Peanut Charlie looks gorgeous, hope all is going well with him.

Pigleychez both my dds have had huge heads (95th and 99th centiles) and I'm not sure it really makes that much difference at all. I should have looked closely at DH's head before I married him, as it's his huge bonce they've inherited

Libra1975 you just wait till you get that baby skin next to yours. I still look for excuses to cuddle dd2 naked as she still has the really soft cuddly thing going on. DD1 is getting quite skinny now, as she's really growing at the moment.

Re scans and big babies etc. It doesn't matter if you get extra scans - you just find something else to worry about. As DH and I are tall, both our girls have been long-legged and tall. At the beginning of the extra scans, this baby was measuring on the smaller end of the scales, so I got worried that there was something wrong with her bloodflow and that was why she was smaller than average. Cue DH saying that we had nothing to compare it to, as the other two weren't scanned and measured at this point (and then me posting on here to stay don;t you hate it when they're all reasonable like that??). The last scan, her measurements are all above average except for femur length, so guess what I'm "worrying" about now??

Anyway, best go, dds have watched quite enough CBeebies now!

Poledra · 03/06/2008 16:52

Fantastic, isaidno!!

min912 · 03/06/2008 16:53

I think I definitely need to focus on the post-birth positives, even the small stuff... not to put a downer on you Bebe but if you are going to breastfeed you might not be able to sleep on your front for a while yet!!

but my 'things to look forward to' list is:

  1. Not waking up because I've thrown up in my mouth a bit from the reflux
  2. Being able to pick things up off the floor/being able to get up off the floor
  3. Being able to wear 'proper' trousers, even if they are 2 sizes bigger than normal
  4. Having a pee and feeling like my bladder is properly empty afterwards (dreaded the first post-birth wee last time, but actually it was such a relief)
  5. Being able to change gear in the car/put the brake on the buggy without pelvic pain/twinges
  6. 'Normal' bowel movements... sorry if tmi!!
  7. Meeting the new baby and introducing her to DS

Not in any particular order!! Baby is not bottom of the list, I guess I'm just taking that as read...

isaidno · 03/06/2008 16:59

Looking forward to ....

  1. Cuddling a little baby girl
  2. Dressing her up in cute outfits
  3. Wearing jeans with button and flies instead of elastic
  4. Having impressive boobs due to bf.
  5. Rolling over in bed without waking up.
  6. Using my new buggy and changing bag (is that a bit sad??)
